A quick find while camping in the park, only just beat the rain... TN left travel bug. TFTC

It felt a little awkward walking in to a scout camp but when i got further in i saw that there were a number of caravans and campers there and i realized that it works a little like a caravan park. I didnt find any staff on the way through but was relieved that it was a quick find and i could move on to rhe next cache. I was in need of a break from the mundane so packed the geopooch and my caching bag in the car and headed south. I remembered there had been a fair few new caches published in Riddells Creek and surround lately so i thought i would tackle those and just see where i end up. The rolling hills and valleys, alternating tall timber and lush pasture, and the picturesque roads are making for the perfect pick-me-up for my state of mind. A relaxed day finding caches and cruising the area is just what i needed. Treetops is find number 3,784 for me. A fun small sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Macedon Ranges Shire. I am logging this one on Tuesday 27 Aug 2024 at 10:59 pm and the weather is Clear Sky 14C 49% 8 m/s . We headed up to Riddells Creek and stayed the night at Treetops in anticipation of the 2024 Cache Crawl to Echuca and back. We found this cache before heading to the Friday night Prequel Dinner at the Riddells Creek Hotel with 57 other geo teams.Thanks for organising

Caching in Riddells Creek in anticipation for tonights event with chunk, one half of chooknchunk and wozzle68 we headed out from our accommodation for some lunch at the scrumptious bakery before seeking out all the local unfound caches.Headed back to Treetops for a bathroom stop and refreshments and of coarse this cache hidden only 60 metres from our cabin. A straight forward find here.Thanks Misty Merlin for the placement.

I was in Riddells Creek for a camping retreat away at Treetops. This cache couldnt have been any closer to our accommodation given I overlooked it from our balcony.We had a quick search around the area before I spotted the cache tucked away. Found today while camping here at Treetops for the weekend - a shake down of the new van. Cache found and log signed. TFTC

It has been awhile since I have spent a morning out caching as life has gotten it the way of a lot of things lately.Picked a beautiful Melbourne morning to head out and after checking the map I decided to head out to Gisborne and surrounds to try and find a few up that way, there are so many possibilities and directions to head.Making my way home and called I into Riddells Creek to find a couple more.I was parked out the front as I was in the middle of doing the multi cache at the Cemetery.I have stayed here on numerous occasions back in the day on scout camps when my kids were in scouts and I used to help out.Said hello to the caretaker as I was walking pastA few more modern facilities have been added as I walked past and I soon added my name to the log.Thanks Misty Melin TFTC.

Hard to find but fun

Chook had travelled down yesterday from Raglan to Riddells Creek today to help her buddy WendyB153 celebrate her birthday. Today the weather was perfect, so we figured there was enough time for a quick walk before Chook had to return. Or maybe not so quick. After hiking up to the top of Barrm Birrm, we figured time didn't matter any more and we had enough time for a couple more caches. We called in at the caretakers office to let them know what we were doing and the lady there looked at us a little vaguely but gave the ok. It was a quick find after that. All is good with the cache. Having made plans to go caching as our usual tradition on Good Friday; Ghihash and I change our plans on Thursday night from the Mega to Riddles Creek due to bad weather and time restraints.
We took Ghihash’s car thinking we won’t need the clearance for the day. We started with the caches in Carsruhe before heading to Riddles creek.

Lots of scouts around today but we successfully retrieved and returned the cache without anyone noticing

Having just one day off this week I asked k9team if she wanted to go to the mega, however realising that was a 3 hour drive there and a 3 hour drive back with unfavourable weather we decided to go caching in Riddells Creek. On the way I saw I still hadn't done the caches in Carlsruhe so we spent some there before heading to Riddells Creek for lunch and an arfternoon of caching.

Arfter completing the "19 days" multi at the cemetery and on our way to collect more information for the "stairway to heaven" multi we stopped by for a quick pick up before heading back to town.

There was a scout camping event on this weekend and had to avoid some large groups while heading to the GZ we realised we neglected to read the cache description fully and didn't check in at the office on the way! I hope they didn't mind our quiet intrusion as we waited for the coast to be clear we looked over the dam which looked to have been used for some fun activities on a drier day.

My son was staying at a Scout camp here at Treetops this weekend, when we picked him up today I went for a walk and signed the log book. Nice easy find. The caretaker Paul knows about the cache and is happy for people to find it. TFTC

In the area today so made the detour to here. Finally made the walk into this one. Have passed many times.
Had a chat to the caretaker on the way in with the thumbs up on the way out.

Great scout park here. I went through the whole process - cubs, scouts, venturers & rovers so it took me back in time. Love the wildlife around too. Great hiding spot and the log is almost full only a few spots left. Love it TFTC

We are camped here in the same group as Boabtree but geocache independantly (well, compare our Finds!). Wandered up the slope, found it, realised we had forgotten our writing implement and came back with it. Yep, we are rusty after these dreadful two years. Anyhow, thanks for the cache, Misty Merlin, it got us out walking again.

We were camping at the Treetops scout camp in Riddells Creek with some chums when I discovered that there was a geocache on the property. A short walk later the cache was in hand. This is a beautiful place.

I have been to this scout camp on numerous occasions as a Scout leader but today it was the first time as a geocacher. It was a walk down memory lane. Bunadoorian was the lucky finder of our third find today. TFTC Misty Merlin

Went through the no trespassing gate. No troubles. Easy find.

Had a bit of trouble finding the entrance gate but located it eventually. Once inside, a nice stroll to GZ. TFTC!

A nice drive through the area with some caches easier to find than others. Well, I thought that '*they*' say that country people are friendly??? Maybe just not the caretakers of the scout camp. **ANYHOW**, after speaking to the **friendly** person, we made our way to GZ and made a quick find. As qickly as we could we left the area whilst they were re-loading their shotgun

Not too keen on having to call a ranger that I'm on site. If the area isn't publicly accessible I think it's against the guidelines. It anyway I'm giving it a DNF as I probably won't be back.

One of the worse ones i had to do.. first its completely alkward asking the ranger to be able to come in.. secondly they are rude as all hell.. the wife kept going on about how my dog needs her nails clipped while she had it done last week.. then shed like oh ur dogs so skinny. Like what the hell? My dogs a pup they have that werid weight change... then as i was looking for it turned out to see her head was in my car. Wtf! So i finshed signing the book to come back for her to be like oh i want a photo of ur dog as its so cute but shes been naughty and wont keep still.. umm okay.. so i took my dog out so she cant have a photo and all she did was say how bad my dog was as she wouldnt keep still.. wtf! Not to placer fault but the two ranger people at the office.. omg.. worse experince ever!!

Up to visit Dad after the obligatory DNF at Eagle Rock, Werribee! Found camp ranger polite and accommodating, particularly as it was getting on a bit. It was about 5:30pm. Interesting location. TFTC!

I was working in Gisborne this afternoon and need to de-stress with a cache or two.
Looked like some kind of film set in the grounds as I approached the hide.
Found quickly and then I backtracked quietly.

Dropping off for a pre-Jamboree camp. Pleasant walk amongst the trees. TFTC.

Find number 85 was definitely the most embarrassing Geocache we have found. I downloaded it to my Garmin quickly before I left for a meeting with the kids in Riddell's Creek, so I didn't read the description and don't have access to mobile internet. I didn't think Geocaches were allowed to be placed on private property, so drove in to Treetops following my map. I did see the sign as we drove in reading to check in at the office, but thought, 'What am I going to say when they ask me why I want to come in?' As you are generally supposed to be quite stealthy when in search of a cache. Boy was that the wrong move! After a thorough dressing down by the ranger for not checking in at the office, we apologised profusely and tried to leave immediately, but he then got even more irate, insisted that we might as well look for it now. Found, drove off with our tails between our legs. Very sorry!!! We learnt our lesson and will never enter private property again. I have to say that personally, I don't think somewhere you have to ask permission to look for a cache, is a very good place to hide a cache.

Found at 11.10am whilst on a weekend away near Riddells Creek.
A great place to stay for exploring the area. We found the cache quickly. The resident wardens are very welcoming of travelers.
