TFTC and a nice quick find. It took longer to open it than to find it. The lid was screwed on so tightly that both myself and my husband couldnt open it. He had to go back to the car and get a TOTT. Hopefully the next person will not have such difficulty. Anyway log got signed and a favourite from me. Very interesting here. Im visiting from the Hunter Valley in NSW
We enjoyed re-visiting this tunnel, its a fascinating site. Well concealed hide. Tftc
We were sitting at Gin Gin so Geo's wife could have her well-earned coffee break. We noticed this earth cache and traditional was not too far away. So of we headed. What another great spot we had no idea this tunnel was here. The cache is very clean and in good condition. Signed and returned cache to its hide. Many thanks to the C.O. for this hide.
How awesome is the tunnel. Had to stop when I read about this. Soooo cool. Found while chasing counties with my sister before heading north.Time to visit Qld again. Up visiting family and doing some small road trips. Thanks for getting me out and about Bindair Dundat
TFTC! Took to young fella through the tunnel on the way home to hervey from a weekend in Mt Perry,
Great place to come and walk through with the bats buzzing around your head. Only a half hour deviation from the Bruce Hwy on the way back to Brissie. Nice easy find. TFTC
Thank you for bringing me to this interesting spot. Cache found with no problems, signed and replaced. Then went through the tunnel (twice!) Could see the bats. Definitely worth a favourite.
I was there 2 days ago & walked straight past, not knowing it was there, so I had to return to get this special hide. TFTC
We are travelling back to Sydney from our road trip “North” and decided to do this one due to all of the favourite points, and also the lure of the bats. It was a definite highlight for us, so I’ve added another highlight to your collection-thanks for bringing us here! The only bummer was that in the short time we were there every person that drove through did so with their lights on full (some even with high beam) even though the info sign asked people not to. If anyone’s reading this before going, it might be a help to know about this request as it’s on the smaller sign and they may miss it. Otherwise, it was a great afternoon-cheers!
A weekend trip up to Gladstone and Calliope saw me having some quiet time on an 800-acre property. We got in some 4wd, some walking on some extreme hill climbs, campfires at night and then a few caches as well. It can be hard work trying to convince some people how much fun you have doing this activity, especially if they are not fully open and listening, lol.
This was an unexpected side trip, I noticed a new earth cache that was published and not yet found when we were travelling up to Gladstone. On the return trip home, I noticed it was still unfound. Therefore, a slight detour to grab that one and then a stop here to grab this one.
I signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the hide and bringing me to this great tunnel, a favourite point here.

We were wondering how our tall geovan was going to go driving through but not a problem at all.
Very cool

Thank you for placing a cache at this interested spot. Not game enough to drive our motorhome through (a tad wide we think) so walk we did) TFTC
We were here today on our QLD coast leg of our ‘Around Australia’ trip.
We set off back at the start of 2021 expecting to go around Australia in 12 months - here we are still going in 2023 with about 1/3 of the island left to lap.
My (Geo Mum) personal Favourite experience: Too many to choose, Finding Gold and Opal high up there, working on a CQ cattle station was awesome too.
Favourite location: Gibb River Road/ Kimberley closely followed by Nhulunbuy/ Arnhem Land.
Best paid activity: Horizontal falls
Best free activity: Kings Canyon Rim Walk, Matt Wright putting us up for free in one of his helicopters was pretty awesome. (Let’s not talk about his current situation )
Most interesting location. Arnhem Land
What you have learnt: I wish I had something insightful to put in here, if I though really hard about it perhaps I do but I guess the most practical things I learnt are: Mango sap burns, midges are xxxx’s and dog beds are a versatile alternative to real furniture.
Miss the most: Family & Friends, closely followed by my garden and my chooks.
Look forward to the most: The Whitsundays
Regrets? Worrying so much and not heading off years ago!

*Sorry for the copy and paste log but I’m notorious for getting behind with logs and fluffing them up!

Found it after some searching. Cache in good condition has a new lock book. Seems to be a resident frog guarding the cache
Nice easy find just before u start heading into the darkness. Lots of micro bats to see. Followed by a nice easy drive through the countryside to get back into the main road.
Tftc that gets us to see little known amazing places.

TFTC A must stop on our way to pick up our new addition to the family, a little staffy from Mt Perry. Cool little bit of history.
Found with recently converted mugle Cameron on way to gin gin. Thanks for the cache.
Found - did not have a signal only our GPS and were lucky enough to find it. Cache totally saturated, scrawled my name just! Needs replacing.
Pretty easy

Gets a fav from me thanks for bringing me here aroha and happy caching from new zealand
Cache has been replaced. It is now tethered to it's spot so not likely to wash away with a bit of heavy rain. Cheers from Bindair Dundat.
Please accept my apologies for the recent DNF's. I will be travelling over there next Wednesday 7/9/2022 to replace with a (hopefully) more secure container. Cheers and Happy Caching from Bindair Dundat.
Could not find this one

It must be 30 years since our first visit to here and there have been several visits since over the years but this is the first time we have gone looking for a geocache. So thank you for bringing us back. We did walk into the tunnel this time so that was a first as we usually drive through. Cache was found and log signed. TNLN
Cache has been replaced in the same location - please ensure that you leave it well-hidden when you put it back. Cheers and happy caching from Bindair Dundat.
Sad to hear that it may have been STOLEN. I'll get out there next week with a replacement. Apologies to the recent visitors who had to log a DNF. Cheers from Bindair Dundat.
Not even with a spoiler picture. Believe cache is missing. We had a really good look.
What a great monument to the determination of these guys pioneering new technology way back then. TFTC
Find number 1600. Woo hoo. I love this tunnel and it was a grand milestone cache. Thanks for bringing us here
Heading back north home and had lunch stop in Gin Gin. Glad we detoured out to this interesting location. Quickly found, signed and returned the cache, then took the car for a lap of the tunnel. Before returning to the highway to Rocky. Thanks for brining us out this way.
This has been on my radar since the tunnel was highlighted in a post on the caching fb page a couple of years ago. Finally had the chance to visit on our way to GinGin from Cania Gorge - and it didn’t disappoint. Very impressive location! I decided to walk through but when the others in the car upset the bat colony I changed my mind and drove through instead. Lovely and cool in the tunnel on a hot summers day. TFTC
What a beautiful spot, we were out on an adventure and couldn’t resist the chance to check out the longest unsupported tunnel. We drove thru, walk part way, and of course checked out the cache. Thanks for the cache.
Accurate coordinates made this a quick find . All's good at gz . Thanks Bindair Dundat
Found on my caravan trip, on the 16th October. Sorry for the late log.
Didn't see any bats that day.
All good, nice and dry.

#399 We first visited this tunnel many years ago. As we came to the turnoff today I said, "There's a cache in there". So off we went for a return visit. And a good excuse to visit the bats too.
It was very busy today. Lots of foot traffic and plenty of vehicles on the long weekend, but the bats did put in a brief appearance.
Managed to locate the cache easily and sign without being muggled. Great hide in a great spot.

Out for a few days driving around and having visited the delightful township of Mt Perry we are here now checking this tunnel out. We drove in along the first Tunnel Rd - through a couple of closed gates past a few curious cows - and following the street signs towards Gin Gin (apparently) we popped out at the other end of this famous tunnel. And we can drive through it too? Wow, that's cool. Didn't spot any bats from the car, but parked past GZ - found and signed the cache, and wondered into the dark. Small blighters. A bit dark, and I didn't want to disturb them, so left them to their slumbers.
Thanks Team Fuddley ( Adopted by ) for entertaining me at this location.

Heading west today,
I popped up the road to rejoin the caching underground movement
Me membership had lapsed after 12 months without an underground find
A stroll from the picinic area soon had me in the right place
No trains passing by today,
but you can still see the soot, blackening on the roof of the tunnel !!
No worries finding the cache today
In fact I found *both* caches [^]
The olde one that I signed years ago,
and the new one

We have been to this very special place several times and it's always interesting to revisit. Easy find. Thanks for the Cache.
Easy find in a very interesting place. We drove our caravan through the tunnel both ways. Yay!
11:03:00 AM. We had spoken to our neighbours at Mount Perry who had driven out here but through property, opening and shutting gates so we thought we would miss it till we saw a sign and only 1.5kms. A quick detour to GZ. Cache found and log signed then a walk through the tunnel. Some otheres there were going for a drive through. Thanks for the detour. Interesting history. Thanks for the cache Bindair Dundat
Boolboonda Tunnel was transferred from youngoldfella to user Bindair Dundat
Nearly at the end of our caching day and at one of the places we really wanted to get to . Drove through the tunnel and marvelled at the building of it as well as the mass of teeny tiny bats that call it home! Used the hint to find the cache as the sats really were not behaving very well today.

This was another spot recommended to visit by a friend. Worth a visit to see the tunnel and it's residents. Didn't take long to find the cache, signed the log and returned.

Found it today during my vacation in Australia. Didn't go too far into the tunnel, as you could see (and hear) the hundreds of bats from afar... Very creepy! If you do go through the tunnel, stay in the car or wear a mask and protection for your own health!
While staying with my parents at Binjour, my daughter Pinkypie05 and myself decided to go to Mt Perry and do a few caches. I hadn’t been to Mt Perry in about 25 years and had never been to this tunnel. This cache had been on my list to do for a few years but for various reasons I couldn’t get here when previously visiting my parents. Today we got here. We loved seeing the tunnel and driving through. TFTC and for bringing us here!
Found easily. The drive through the tunnel was a different experience. The road through is quite well maintained, and there would be enough room for a normal sized caravan, and room at either end to turn around if you changed your mind.
Staying at Lake Monduran, so we decided to take a drive to visit this tunnel. We drove through and back, truly amazing and very long. The info board with the 4 recordings was very informative. It really is worth the drive to see, and the cache is a bonus. Fav point for such a historical site

8918 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1130. After a blue face last time we visited it was time to come back and change that. Located in the first place we looked. Went for a drive through the hill and stopped to SL on the way back Tnx Team Fuddley
Didn't find it 03/05/17
This was a DNF for baby&Mrs gopher. The edge of the roadway has been wiper snipped of all long grass and any debris on both sides of the track through. The walk through the tunnel was most interesting in that in the middle it sounded like there was flowing water in the roof. It wasn't until we were walking back that the realisation , it was the BentWing Bats making the sound.

Found while staying in Mt Perry. The tunnel was lovely and cool, and there were no bats that we could see, just a couple of birds. Cache found quickly and easily.
A fantastic piece of history here. What a tribute to the workers who constructed this tunnel. Great to walk through...a well maintained path too. The little bats clustered on the rock face are beautiful. Worth the stopover. Thanks
TFTC. It is great to be caching in this beautiful part of the country.
This was my favourite cache of my holiday - love the bats, love the history, love the countryside.
A fav point from me.
Thanks Team Fuddley for placing the cache.

We left our caravan in Bundaberg and took a drive out to view the Boolboonda Tunnel I had heard so much about over the years. We recently visited a similar tunnel near Glen Innes, this one is much longer. I couldn't believe it took two long years to dig through, I guess without todays technology it must have been very tough going.
We enjoyed listening to the three recordings at the information board, it gave a fantastic insight into the period the railway was used and even told a story of its closing.
We walked the tunnel end to end wishing we had bought a torch. The bat poo smelt quick odorous midway along, we had to be careful not to slip.
The cache was found quickly by Ian while I was still playing with my GPS. Logbook was signed and all carefully replaced.
I love this type of cache which was a bonus to our visit here. thanks

In response to TOFs log below, we had a look at this one on our way through today. I suspect that TOF has found an older version of this cache previously thought to have been muggled. We weren't able to find anything in the nearby tree roots, but the current cache is still in it's hiding spot as per the description and hint. It's not a difficult find (check the photos in the gallery). As per the hint "Cache is approximately 12 metres from the entrance on the right hand side looking in, behind rock under ledge. no need to leave the road level." It can't be much clearer than that. Cheers and happy caching from Bindair Dundat (the placer of the current cache).
Thanks for this cache. In a great location. I think from the recent entries in the log that it's been muggled as none had been logged as a find. It's placement is not as stated in the hint but up in tree roots. Put it back where we found it but you may want to check it.
This one has been on my to do list for far too long, and as I was going to be in Bundy for the Easter w/e, what better time to turn it into a than this w/e.
Found somewhere in between the previous @ 0800 and the next @ 1100.
Cache in excellent nick
Some muggles turned up just as I returned to the ute. Driven all this way, just had to drive through the tunnel, phoo it stinks in here
All in all a great trip out to here and a favorite point for the location.

Dora the Explorer! and I was in Bundaberg for the weekend grabbing some caches. This cache was a targetted cache as we like tunnels and bats. This one did not disappoint.
We drove through the tunnel, parked car and the walked back taking various photos and by the way we found the cache also.
Walked back through the tunnel and took some more photos.
This cache is definately worth a favourite point and well worth making a detour to check out.
