It is definitely a butterfly haven. Absolutely awesome.

Took awhile to find dvthis one was looking in all the wrong places. Then decided to focus my search area and I came up with the cache. Thd lid has gone on the tin but the container inside is still good.
Thanks for the placement.

Yep, it’s still there. Up and to the right of the tree. The milo tin is a bit buggered but the cache inside is great.

Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!

Barramundi Bushman, I found Butterfly Haven today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Found on Week 9 of my travels to northern Australia..

I travelled from Adelaide up to Cairns over 3 1/2 weeks on my own, then met up with FeatherWaite and another friend from Hobart and we spent another 3 weeks going up to Cape York and back. We then headed off on our separate ways home. I stayed in Cairns for a few days prior to heading back to Adelaide.

With the rather dynamic covid situation and the restrictions in place in terms of entry back into SA, I hadn’t really decided on my route home, although I decided to head west to keep the options of travelling home via the NT or via Birdsville. I was in no hurry!

In the end I decided to continue across the bottom of the Gulf and into the Limmen National Park. After camping at the Southern Lost City last night, I headed out to the Western Lost City, calling in at the Butterfly Falls for a look and to find this cache on the way. The cache was a quick find, thanks to the hint. Not a lot of butterflies here today and not enough water for a swim, but what a lovely spot!

Thanks Barramundi Bushman for the cache.

We arrived at beautiful Butterfly Falls after a rough trip from Cape Crawford. We wandered down to the waterhole and this cache was found after a short search and a peek at the hint. This place is a paradise.

Quick find with SJG66 as we toured the NT for a few weeks. Spent the night camped nearby after a refreshing swim. TFTC.

Found with O319 on our way north to Darwin.  TFTC. We stayed the night here, very peaceful.

28-Aug-20
We stayed at this campground overnight.
The fall is dry and the water in the pool wasn't good for swimming.
We searched quite a while, but at last we found it.

MAINTENANCE DONE, CONTAINER REPLACED!
Day #21 and almost the last for us on the road for some time. We camped here the night before, it's a very spacious campground with fireplaces for most of the sites. Wanted to have a refreshing swim, but there is hardly any water left. The two brown stagnant pool are not inviting and the falls don't run. Found the cache and replaced the container with a jar, covered in silver gaffatape, left the old tin as cover.

We camped here one night and finally found it the third time. The GPS was going everywhere so not helpful TFTC
Left new log paper in Ziploc, no swaps at this time

Found on our way south. A lovely spot. Pity the water wasn’t flowing. The cache container is very much in need of replacing- the bottom has completely rusted so now not waterproof. TFTC

On a serious 4 week roadtrip with Zauberkeks from Darwin to Perth I would like to thank all cache owners for the fun and information factor!

Butterfly Springs was one of our best campsites! What a location! We encountered lots of wildlife and the butterflies were plentiful! And the trip to the Western Lost City just added to the fun!

Thnx and greetings from Germany,
CacheAffairs

We, that is Zauberkeks and Cacheaffairs, enjoyed a 4 week trip from Darwin to Perth and would like to express our thanks to all owners of the caches for the learning experience and the awesome views and places they showed us!

Butterfly Haven was one of these spectacular locations!

We stayed the night here before venturing to the Western Lost City and returned afterwards to enjoy some food and drink in this lovely setting.
Aside from the zillions of butterflies (I have never seen a big population as such ever before!) we got to see a Pheasant Coucal as well as an Azur Kingfisher and a little pied Cormorant.
The container, however, is in need of some care... Sadly, we did not have anything at hand to replace it.
Nevertheless, definitely deserves a big, fat FAV-Point!

Greetings from Germany,
Zauberkeks

Beautiful spot. As mentioned before the tin is just surviving. I have double bagged with a plastic zip lock bag to house a fresh log paper. Hopefully this will last at least for the rest of the dry. Thanks for placing the cache in a neat place in this great spot.

I arrived late to the campground. Just an amazing place, but not really the best time of the year. It was 35c this night, so not much sleeping. But therefore, there is that great cache out here. I didn't read the log, so unfortunately I also couldn't replace the log.still wet and I more scratched my name in the papet than writing..
Thanks so much for placing a cache out here,

Well worth the stay here and a cache also. The cache needs maintenance, as all contents are very wet, tried to sign log, but didn't have a water proof pen. Unfortunately didn't come prepared with the necessary replacement log book, sorry.

Easy find. I've seen photos of this place in the wet and it is amazing but unfortunately there isn't much water around now. Remember to being something to open the cache as we could not. Tftc.

At Buttrfly Springs we camped in the tent overnight and we picked this one up at the same time. No water flowing for us today, very dry out here.

TFTC,
Heading East and spent the previous afternoon in the Western Lost City. What a great experience and to turn up here for the night. A swim was a must to clean away the dust before bed.
The next morning gave us a chance to locate this cache before heading out to take in the Southern Lost City and make our way to Lorrella Springs for 2 nights.
Have to give this cache a favorite. Visited a group of trackables.

We spent 4 nights at the nearby Lorella Springs campground and found this one on the way out for the rest of the trip. Lorella springs was awesome with a great pool for swimming, we will have to come and visit a bit earlier in the season, it was all a little dry at this time. Butterfly Springs was a nice spot to stop for Morning Tea on the way to Katherine. Cheers. MODU.

What a great location.

Beautiful spot, not sure how you get to the top pool as per the document and photos in the cache, I climbed up the rocks on the left about 10m back from waterfall and ended up way above the top pool. It looked very deep and there was the biggest monitor I have ever seen sunning by it.
The cache is in pretty bad nick, looks like it got pretty wet recently.

11-Jun-13
The butterflies were in the haven, but not in swarm type numbers today Smile
It is a nice haven with a neat little swimming hole.
Somewhere close by I wandered off into the bushland and found the fig tree Big Grin
A short scramble and a bit of a dig around and the cache was in me paws.
I had brought the Swiss Army Knife with me after reading some of the cache logs Wink
The lid came off and .... EEEWWWW !! .... a rust coloured mouldy mess greeted me !!
The cache log book was safe and sound in its plastic baggie though.
I cleaned up as much of the mess as I could.
the long white filaments of fungus growing around the soggy matches were interesting Razz
TFTC and visit to a beautiful place [^]

Found as part of our 5 week trip from Adelaide to Lawn Hill and then onto the Territory.

Apologies for the late logs but Vodafone doesn't cover much of that part of the world.

We found 109 and had 10 dnfs, some more than once.

Allison went for a swim and I found the cache. The contents are damp but the log book is dry.

Good One

We spent the morning exploring the nearby Lost City and then hit the dirt again and travelled on to Butterfly Springs. Upon arrival there were already a few campers set up so we hastily grabbed a spot to park the Keddy for the night, the notes in Camps 5 suggests small vehicles only but there is plenty of room for caravans.

After setting up we strolled down to the water to take photos etc, then returned to camp for afternoon tea, I can't live without a coffee Smile Replenished and GPS in hand we returned to the water, bathers on this time, to find the cache. After making the find we took a lovely swim although the water was slightly cold when we first dipped our toes in, once the body adjusted it was fine!

We took the cache with us back to our caravan were we removed several mildewy items and replaced them with some of our geo-swag. We dried out the tin and placed the goodies in separate zip lock bags for extra protection.

This is indeed a beautiful spot, we enjoyed the enclosed photo of the waterfall flowing as we had wondered what it would look like. We would not have seem the many butterflies had we not been searching for the cache as they weren't apparent until we went close to GZ.

thanks for showing us this wonderful spot.

We found it - for this the Territory Dogs linked up with MArc Eisener of The BLoody Germans and Ollie.

Actually, it was Marc from The Bloody Germans who spotted it first, but I was directing from below!

Sweetest thing about finding this was as we apporached , hundreds of black crow Butterflies floated up from the ground, it was qiute beautiful - so I guess there is a reason it is called Butterfly Gorge!

We ourselves haveplanted a 2nd cache on e apporach to the Gorge campsite, as part of our plan to GC the hwole Savannah Way from cairens to Broome.

driving between Cape Crawford and Roper Bar to check out the Lost Cities
(something I have been wanting to do for years)
how could I drive past this one without having a crack
after camping at the Southern Lost City snuck in early to have a look
nice spot Smile
now the cache
OK - found after a little looking
but quickly realised that fingers wouldn't be adequate to open the container which appeared firmly sealed
back to the car to get the leatherman
after a bit of prying - the cache revealed a container jammed packed full of all sorts of goodies
managed to find the log sheet and TB
signed log - but opted to discover bug and leave it in this little oasis

cheers & TFTC

Sorry, a bit off my beaten track to come and find this cache. However, I did find it "in the stars" Smile I was endeavouring to solve a puzzle cache involving star co-ordinates, when this cache "popped up in the sky". Try Google Earth at the following co-ords: RA 21h 01m 50.67s Dec: Minus 15 degrees 37' 05.94".

Perhaps you ought to rename it "Butterly Heaven"? Big Grin

So close to find this one and it could have been a first to find. Anyway, as there were too many muggles plenty of butterflies, we had to move on as we were on our way home from our 6 weeks holiday's in QLD. (So close but yet so far). Thanks for the lovely spot anyway.
