Today we made a trip from Dunedin via Milton, Balclutha, and the Catlins to finally Invercargill, visiting some new sightseeing locations and looking for old caches. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches, too. The weather was warm in the morning and in the afternoon, but no rain at all.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to Lehcier for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Balclutha Stop (Otago). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

1:56:00 PM. Heading north on our trip around the South Island while on holidays from Australia. Quick driveby and log signed. Thanks Lehcier for the cache.
I had a look in here about a year ago after a fire without any luck and there has obviously been another recent fire and a replacement put in. I had a reasonable search and was about to give up when I uncovered it.
Grabbed a few cache around Kakanui on the trip from Oamaru to Invercagill, but felt the need to stretch the legs here. A quick find, maybe the clue needs updated to "burnt orange"?
Day 3 of Oamaru geofest time to have some more fun and get more smiles homeward bound
A quick stop and grab on my way past with Ruru a nice spot to stretch my legs

Day 6 of my Oamaru GeoFest week.
Heading back to Invercargill with DSI.
Had a dnf here after the fire, but see the log didn't go through. Called in again today and following last month's log made the find. Raincoat is a bit scorched, so maybe it is the original. Replaced it a bit more securely.
Thanks for the smilie.

Oh no ..
What on earth happened here !!!!
Can still smell smoke...
No sign of Original or Temporary cache ...
Even the Geodetic Benchmark was engulfed....
Needs replacing in a nearby different area or archiving..

the original cache is missing presumed engulfed by the flames that have charged every thing in the vicinty.. there is however a mint contaniner hanging in clear view only but small leaf stem - so it wont take much wind or a passing tourist to dislodge it.....
Turned up and also couldn't find the described container - but instead also signed the container hanging in the vicinity ( and added some new waterproof log paper) no telling how long that one will live for... all this was done between freezing icey wind and rain.... of course...
#152 pulled up at the wrong stop to start with! Got to GZ and saw it from the car, very well disguised though! All was well with the cache. No cars here today but there's a lot in the satellite photo! TFTC
Found. Container not the same as in description - assume the other one met an untimely end.
On my way from Kaka Point to Dunedin. I've logged the one that was hanging in the tree in this really black area. Thanks for hiding!
ooops what a mess. I SL on the throw down tin and got to tie it in place up high.
An opportune time to grab some P'n'Gs on a push northwards before the storm to check in on some cause célèbres. Pulled into wayside to find transporter parked up as well. Nosed the little bo peep Jeep in enough to obscure the view and sauntered over to hint. Looked down, then looked up, yep found the 250ml camo honey pot. Seems no longer a 200ml sistema anymore. Dropped in a new log book and flicked the rubbish in the con. Once you see one gedetic marker, you start seeing them everywhere. TFTC
Found the hint object easily enough, but the cache was nowhere to be seen. The fact that the whole area has recently had a fire (probably within the last few weeks) might have something to do with it.
Today was a special day of geocaching in New Zealand, we head out to do three old caches to help us with our Jasmer challenge, Sutton Salt Lake (Middlemarch, Otago), Botanical Gardens (Dunedin, Otago) and Table Hill (Owaka, Otago). We started with Table Hill we followed the instruction in the description to enter the wood, arrived at the PZ we start locking around we after 10 minutes there she was. After we head to Botanical Gardens in Dunedin, this one is a quick find and finally we that the road again to Sutton Salt Lake in Middlemarch and again a quick find. We also did a few one along the road and in Dunedin.

Excellent day's exploration around the Balclutha area. A touch a Spring in the air, lambs in the paddock and daffodils not far away from flowering.
It took some looking but we found it in the end. Took the TB that was in there with us .

The last time we visited New Zealand in 1998, we missed the Milford Sound because of lack of time.
Now, as W is working in Sydney and C is visiting him, it was very close by.
So we decided to turn her visit into a small New Zealand vacation.
And off course this can't be done without a few geocaches.
A few turned into about 150 of them.
We started in Queenstown, but this time no bungy jumping anymore.
At the airport we switched the gsm-card to a NZ one, with internet access.
That way we would be able to check for recent logs and spoiler photos.
After we got our rental car we started the gps.
We're not used to driving on the left side of the road, but that was no problem with all the road signs.
During our last visit it was summer, now it was autumn.
The weather looked more like home, but we had our umbrella and raincoat with us, which we used a lot.
At the Milford Sound the rain was an advantage, as the rainfalls were huge.
It was raining again, but a cache is a cache.
So we went looking for it.
Thanks for the cache.

#47 on a 3 day weekend of geocaching adventures down South. Found by R after waiting for a car to depart. TFTC
Was going to stop for this one on our way south but there was too much traffic around. Much easier on our way back heading north.
on the way from te anau to dunedin we looked for some caches dtoped and found this one. tftc and greetings from germany.
Quick park and grab. Down in the area for work for the day from Wellington. TFTC!
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we will follow the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to Lehcier for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Tftc. Stopped here on the way back to Dunedin after checking out the catlins over the waitangi weekend. Left a Z blockhead and a wooden peg.
Found cache - last place we looked! Lol
We nearly gave in but had another look trusting the hint and boom! Tftc

It says the cache is in middle of road and GPS just couldn't direct me to where it was......
After watching the sunrise at Nugget point headed back to Dunedin but stopped here for this cache.
I had looked for it yesterday but was looking in the wrong spot. Turns out the hint put me in right area but led me astray.

Had to find a quick park and grab to keep the streak going. This one was just out of town and fitted the bill. Lots of parking and it all seemed quiet when we arrived. Located the cache after a few minutes of looking, not where I expected it to be but good hiding place. Signed the log just as a camper van arrived. No where to hide, so tried to look ac casual as possible and slipped it back into its hiding place. I hope we weren’t seen. Grabbed a couple of photos and then away. Found with Hannah and Ted.
Out caching with dad this evening so picked up a couple of caches with him. This was a nice easy park and ride with nice views. It didn’t take too long to find, a couple of people in a camper van turned up as we were signing the log so that was tricky. I think we got it back before they noticed what we were doing. Thanks for the cash,

A quick park and grab on way back to Dunedin while working. The last couple of cachers did not find it so I was skeptical about finding it myself. But looked a bit further and success I had it in hand. A quick sign of the log book by myself and my colleague and we were on the road again back to Dunners. TFTC ☺
The coordinates and hint both seemed to point to a very distinct location but we found nothing there.
On our way from Mossburn to Dunedin today and coming to the end of our Southern Holiday. Have stopped here a couple of times before when I was a youngster and lived in Dunedin. Found the cache realitivly quickly which was good as the wind was getting very cold. Was hoping to find the Geocoin in here but another missing TB down these ways hope it shows up again sometime. Thanks for the cache still have lots in Balclutha for next time I am down these ways
Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
Had a two night stopover in Invercargill, found while heading North

A few caches on my way from Invercargill to Dunedin airport to pick up 'Mr' 2wombles. Another minute for a 400-minute challenge cache, Thanks for the cache
Cool stop while out caching with granddaughter - took a minute or two to find but the hint is pretty helpful
18176 km from home we found this Cache while our holidays. Thank you very much for hiding and greetings from Dresden, Germany!
at the second time, after having a muesli bar and considering the hint, I got it
Found with Mumander and Mr Potty, don't be put off by an obvious looking hiding spot which is empty, keep checking and it's there.
Should have read the last log before being so quick to dismiss this one as gone! Oops!
After a wee look around the area Jared found it. Wasn't on exact co ords but followed the clue . Yay
No luck here today .... And nobody else has found it since June either! Rodney and Iris.
