Logs
*Catching up on some long overdue logging - February, nearly there!* After attending Flowerydaze's event and collecting the new caches around QE II park, a group of us (TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Itchyfeet2020, TrinityNZ, Matagouri, Mr Mcgoo and the Seagnoid) decided it would be prudent to nab some of the other caches in the area.TwigNZ had found this cache previously and would be removing as per the CO's wishes. We all took the opportunity to sign the log before this happened. TFTC, and sorry to see it go as it's a beautiful spot.
With an event nearby and a bunch of new caches released, a bunch of us found ourselves at the foot of this track signing a pristine log. And since we are here and since there are a bunch of caches up this walk, we went for an additional walk. The track reminds me of the Pukerua Bay to Paekakariki Escarpment walk (and then I say the cache page for the cache at the bottom - oh! this this walk is an escarpment walk!)
Great view from here. Amazing how high you can climb above, in this case the road, in only a few minutes.
Cache removed by TwigNZ per CO request.

I found myself up this way again today, as part of a small group of cachers.
I took the opportunity to remove this cache as per CO wishes so after today there should be no further logging.

We found ourselves up here today following a event. We chased a new cache to the bottom of the hill, a virtual up to this lovely spot and TwigNZ also knew about this one. Logged prior to its removal from this lovely spot today.
Found close to the virtual at the Jean Rowland Lookout. Cache container is in great condition, but we're removing it from it's hiding spot.
Up here with a group today following Flowerydaze’s event at nearby QEII Park, with the CO of the nearby virtual. We took the opportunity to find this archived cache, which I understand has now been removed. What a great view from this location .
Friday afternoon, on a beautifully sunny day on the coast. I have the afternoon off and am driving south to stay with a friend for the weekend. A chance then to stop and look for a few caches that I keep telling myself I'll stop and get "one day"
Emerald Glen Road is one that I used to travel far more frequently many years ago but hardly ever these days. It was nice and peaceful today with only one or two other cars seen going the opposite direction.
I have never walked up the Mataihuka Walway before, but I was very glad to be here today. Fantastic views out over the water towards Kapiti Island and also looking south and west towards the South Island.
Having just found a couple of caches a bit further along this track, I was walking back to the car when I saw this location and instantly thought "this would be a great place for a cache" followed almost immediately by my next thought "I wonder if there's already one there?"
I do have half a dozen un-solved Puzzle caches within range so it was a possibility that maybe a cache was hidden here. I looked at a couple of the most obvious places without success but then thought I'd take a look along the fenceline... Woohoo, that looks like a cache container! Opening it up, there was a caching logsheet too, and even more exciting was that it was completely blank!
Had I stumbled on an unpublished cache? Well I soon added my name to the sheet, took some photos and a co-ordinate reading, and then set back off to the car with a spring in my step. Well as you can clearly determine from this log, what I had found was not a new cache but this archived one that just happened to have a new replacement log in it. So whilst I cannot claim a FTF (not unless FTFAA, first to find after archiving, is going to become a thing!), I am still pretty happy with myself that my geo-senses enabled me to make this find
For the record, I found the container at S40 57.101 E174 59.420

Could CO please check on this one? No finds and two DNFs since it was replaced in August last year.
Since I replaced it in a very good hiding spot and obviously too well for the finders
And they can't find it
I think that it is far too good
So will archive

Came up here today. Had a good look around the 2 seats and along the fenceline but couldn't find any cache (hoping it is still the 800ml container as per the description but also searched for much smaller varieties). Then broadened our search to the bushes behind the seats but still came up blank.
Sorry we could not find this cache today but we enjoyed our walk along this trail.

Unfortunately this one eluded me, no doubt it's there as it was replaced a few days ago.
Wonderful spot though to eat lunch and enjoy the view so thanks for bringing me here. One of those wonderful places I would probably not have been aware of if not for caching.
Would have got a favorite if I had found the cache.

Had a quick look in the obvious spots but the patience of my 9 and 4 year old helpers was a bit short.
Located this one during a cache raid of Wellington chasing TMTG caches. No problem with the find once I managed to get to the lookout! Great views from GZ. TFTC.
This is a nice lookout which is named after the person who spearheaded the existence of this and other tracks in the area. Well done, June.
Cheers for the cache.

Sunday afternoon hunt - lovely views. Cache is in good order - thanks to previous finder for the replacement log. TFTC
Over 4 years ago I was here for a DNF (it was missing) and finally make a return journey. No issues today and log quickly signed and replaced . Now to head up the hill to the next one. Thanks for the cache.
Found while out and about with Flowerydaze. There was no log book but as always FD had some spare supplies and was soon replaced. Great views from up here TFTC Yeetrees
Out for a drive and a bit of cache finding on a nice evening. Found a container after a while, but inside was a second empty container. No log paper, so photo attached.
A short walk to the lookout, enjoyed the view and found a cache .... but there is no logbook in it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Took a photo to proof the find

#6259. Out for an early morning geocaching visit to the Kapiti Coast. Turned off the highway at Mackays Crossing and headed down this side road. Think this is the first time I have been down this road. Quite a few horses in the paddocks. Parked at track carpark and wandered up the well formed track to the GZ. The track underfoot is in very good condition but the shrubs are getting overgrown on the sides and need a good trim back. Interesting to read the sign board. June is a relative of mine on my fathers side of the family. So good to see her dedication to the environmental protection of the Kapiti area getting recognition at this lookout. Lovely views as well although it was a bit hazy today. Surprisingly warm up here compared to Wellington. Cache was soon located. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here Yeetrees and bringing me to this spot.
New territory for me this. So I was keen to explore the Mataihuka walk.
We made a straightforward find on the cache.
Cache all in order, although easily visible. Log signed, cache then safely re-hidden, just as found.
Then we stopped awhile to enjoy the view. Very good, well worth the effort to visit. The weather was looking a little threatening and time was getting on (even if it was day one of daylight saving for the 2018/19 season) so we elected to come back for the cache that is another 2 kms along the track. But a walk to be looking forward to for summer.
TFTC I visited here with team cacher zboy wonder.
The Turtle strikes again!
Retrieved the geocoin that has been languishing here since May.

Nice little walk up to here, and was rewarded with a great view of Kapiti. Then we saw the weather approaching and the queue of traffic towards Wellington starting to form so hightailed it back to the car. All in order, TFTC
Straightforward find, great view to Kapiti island and Mount Wainui, someone will be disappointed they dropped their big bag of pumpkin seeds here! Dropped off a geocoin and made a swap, inside contents of container are wet but log is fine.
Out for a walk with my kids and niece and nephews so decided we would have a hunt! Nice walk, nice views, nice find!
GPS had the right idea but took me to a place about 2m from the cache. A moment later cache was in hand and log signed. Wonderful view - well worth the effort!

Another nice quick find. A bit more of a breeze here. Cache a little damp so drying it out.
Thanks
Thanks
Found with Sproggles and Conkycon. Larger container very wet. Smaller container and log book mostly dry. Lovely view up here. Tnlnsl TFTC!
When departing from the cache down by the parking area another car pulled up and I suspected they were on the way to the lookout. So I hoofed it up the hill to get in a search before they arrived. I paused to check out the view first then set about finding the cache. I had the right idea to start with but the cache was surprinsgly well hidden and took me several minutes to locate. I encountered the muggles about half way back down the hill so plenty of time to spare. TFTC.
Great to get a find here after a previous dnf. Great views on a very nice day. Cache all good. TFTC
This is a cache I had been meaning to attempt to find for quite some time but for one reason or another I never quite made it despite it being on my daily agenda a few times. Today, I looked to put things right.
The first surprise was finding the start of the walkway; how could I have not noticed this previously despite having driven past several times? The track is in good order and I quickly made my way to the cache site to be rewarded with a rapid find and a terrific view. TFTC, Yeetrees.

Headed up the track as I was targeting My One Tree Hill but picked up the other caches along the way. I did struggle a little bit with the find, but got there in the end. Nice views. TFTC
Cache # 3,702 - can't believe it was nearly 18 months ago when I first tried this cache. Returned for a visit today with Crystal Fairy and still took a bit of searching, but located the well-concealed cache this time. Obviously had been in place all along and we missed it last time, but easy to see how. All well inside. TNLNSL. TFTC! And good to have this turn from a frown into a smile.

As I was in Wellington at a four day conference at the Michael Fowler Centre, and as it was the third day and my head needed some fresh air... what better way to have a break than by finding a few caches with a couple of really good friends that I had just introduced to this whole thing called geocaching. So welcome aboard RoaminBilly and StillSeeking! RoaminBilly was really getting the hang of this and was quite amped! Anyway, after we had found another cache close by, we decided to do the track to the top and try and find this one at the June Rowland Lookout. So after about a ten minute walk, we closed in on GZ pretty quick and soon had the cache in hand, logbook signed, and cache returned before anyone else was any the wiser as to what we were doing. Loved the view... I will include a few photos as a part of this log. Anyway, thank you YeeTrees for taking the time to set up this cache. We really appreciated it! Nice job!
# How do I stop? #
It was only going to be a short drive without any walking, but when you find a cache and then see that this one isn't far away, well, what can you do! 3 in a afternoon so far... better than sitting at home watching the google box!

Only dnf of the day. Found a hole beside a post at given coordinates and am wondering if cache was supposed to be in it.

Couldn't look on the way up as there was a very large group of people there celebrating a ladies 93rd birthday! On the way down stopped and looked at where the coordinates took me, after a good 15 minutes search gave up - as previous comments suggest it is no longer there. Shame - a beautiful spot.
Fantastic views but no view of cache. Not been found for a while. May need a check.
Had expected this one to be easy, and planned to complete on the way back downhill. No one around today, but after 15 minutes of thorough searching by both me and Crystal Fairy, we decided it would have to be a DNF. Will watch the cache and see who finds it next.
To begin with I thought my GPS was playing up, but after a quick search in the area it told me to go I had the cache. Nice stroll and a great view to fill in some time on Pi Day. TNLN SL TFTC.
A little windy today but great views. Awesome that so much work was done to keep this area. Picked up the White tiger TB. Tftc
TFTC. A much easier walk than I anticipared, you can see how the expressway is growing very clearly. Dropped a TB I found near Nelson.
What a great view from up here. A little bit of hunting but the GPS took us to the spot OK. TFTC.
Hmmm, not in the first place, but reasonably quickly found after using the geo-senses.
Out on a bit of a cache-hunt and hill-walk with the youngest geo-son.

Nice easy find. Spectacular views. Well worth the short climb. Very hot on the escarpment today. Tftc.
Macfam41 found it 5th jan. First to sign new log book. 2nd cache today. Off to find more along this track. Happy new year.
Have replaced the logbook and added a new container inside the old one for more protection
Please make sure that you close it properly before returning it back to its hiding spot

There are approximately 100 Geocaches that I have found over the last month or so and have not found time to log, so I do honestly and sincerely appologize for the lack of originality in my log for this cache, as it will be the same as several others, I am just trying to keep my page up-to-date with my real-time caches (I'm logging my caches on the date-of-find, nonetheless), and since it was found so long ago I don't remember it clearly enough to write anything specific about it. [Log written on the 13/12]. Thanks very muchly for the cache!
Nice stroll to GZ this evening in the light rain.Track wasn't too steep at all and if I had of known how short it was I would have grabbed this cache long ago. Hint wasn't really much help but a nice simple find anyway. Unfortunately there was quite a bit of water in the container and the log book was soaked through and starting to decompose. Emptied out the container and dried things best we could but will definitely need some TLC. SLTFTC
Lovely views, very tempting to continue along the track but not enough time today. Log book damp. With metal-art.
3rd find for the afternoon, nice view from top, and not too much of a climb. With Jax479 TFTC
Content damp and logbook turning mouldy. Easy find with great view on a beautiful morning. Tftc
Wow what a view. Can never tire of taking pics of this lovely coastline. Thanks for bringing me to this magic spot and TFTC (cache wet & log damp - dried out as best I could.
After all the bad weather it was nice to get out for a walk or two. Cache quickly found. TFTC
Find #1571. Found at the end of my traverse of the Mataihuka track, with the weather slowly turning for the worse with rain showers to the south and a cool breeze. Nice spot, no one around. SL TFTC
8.40am. Out along the escarpment to look for three caches. Cloudy and cool today but still good views across Queen Elizabeth Park. Quick find. Favourite point for the views.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
A very nice spot to visit on another fine Wellington/Kapiti day, and well worth a cache here. Good to have some seats on which to do the paperwork and enjoy the view.
We didn't linger as we carried on to the other 2 caches on the escarpment from here.
TFTC.

#4825. It was a bit more of a climb up here than I expected, and the track was sheltered from the breeze, so it was hot work. We were rewarded with excellent views on arrival; a good spot for a cache. TFTC.
Quick find on the way back down the hill - beautiful location. Dropped off Geocoin. TFTC!
Quite a walk, but well worth it. If it is a view of the kapiti coast you want...this is the place. Easy find once there.
Took a little finding my gps seems to be having an off day. Only made it this far along the track as little legs were tired; will have to return another day. TFTC
First cache of the day. Went for a nice brisk walk before lunch with a reluctant geocacher. Good views today, fine weather with a threat of rain later. TFTC
We walked up the the June Rowland Lookout this afternoon. Great Views from up there- interesting to look out over QE II Park where we had spent the morning caching. We searched along the obvious GZ, and were just starting to worry that the cache was not there, when one of our sticks hit the cache. Nice one, thanks.

This one has been on the "to do" list for a long time. Enjoyed the peaceful walk - a fitting tribute to an individual's energy to preserve this environment. Although a showery afternoon there were good views from the top - thanks Yeetrees.
What a great view from up here, never knew this track existed, had it not been for GCing! Luckily had 2 GPSrs on hand, as main one put the GC 10m out beyond the fenceline over the steep drop! For Lani. THTCSL -pebble.

Great spot. Family had fun finding it. May have hokked Grandparents! Cache a bit damp
Driving past so decided do do this one. Great view even with the cloud but very exposed to the wind. The cache contained quite a bit of water but the log was nice and dry in its bag. TFTC
