Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way. After an almost spooky... quiet night here at the campground..., we hiked after breakfast... along the Panorama Trail. A quick stop here and we were able to sign the guest book very quickly....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
Trephina Gorge1.0/2.0 Small Traditional Cache Was highly recommended by Steph from the Tourist Info and Heart Foundation Walkers Group to explore this side of the MacDonnell Ranges. And since there's a cache/s here, why not?Thank you for the cache 2Lost-Souls. Found at 11.28am at 40C summer heat! Happy Australia Day!
Oh we found it..after searching a while. Jo had no chance, but Pe hit the right spot…;) thank you for that! Cheers
Much to the amusement of our tagalong group we found this cache during one of the breaks. They've taken to rolling their eyes and shaking their heads when we start examining objects lol. Tftc
A nice easy find a short distance from our campsite here in this beautiful location. The container is in good shape. TFTC
We took the hint a bit too literally and this therefore took longer than it should have! Nice spot. Would be good to spend more time here. Tftc
Heading out for a walk this afternoon and decided to do the panorama walk. While on the way decided to grab this one. It wasn't where I thought it was going to be, found a short time after.
Thanks for the cache

Family reunion after 3 long years! Ms Emu’s parents came over from Germany and the Emus took them on a couple of road trips down the Mornington peninsula, along the Great Ocean Road, to the Grampians and on an adventure around Alice Springs, Uluru and Kings Canyon.
Found on our last day in Alice Springs while exploring the East Macs. We searched a little while for this one, the hint didn't quite add up but we found the cache nearby in the end. We put it back where we found it and now saw that the previous finders found it out in the open, so it's likely not hidden where it was intended to be. Still a nice find, TFTC!

This was our first stop after landing, and OMG it was hot...and the flies!
Cache found without issue out in the open, we hid as best we could.

Aquilus1 & I are on a 24hr lightning visit to Alice Springs (or Mparntwe) just because it sounded interesting as well as grabbing a few of the LGA's in the middle of the country.
This time it was my crazy idea, but Aquilus1 was willing and able to do 'crazy' at short notice.
We got to the airport at an ungodly hour, and then two planes later we landed in Alice. We flew past half of Cathay Pacific's entire fleet during the landing....no rusting out here I guess!
We had a great day doing multiple gorges and 'gaps', driving on the old highway north to get some great D/T hides and various lab caches before heading in to the city.
We saw first hand the new takeaway alcohol rules as well as all the broken windows in town. The pizza place we went to (Roberto's Pizza) did the BEST PIZZA'S I have ever had....I am serious! It's a shame someone had smashed four of their windows, as they provided great service to us & all the locals that came in.
Thank god for air-con, as due to that I had a good night sleep. We slept in of course (due to me stuffing up the alarm and the long day we had previously), but it all worked out. We finished with the 'Heritage' labs which happened to be where the 'Invasion Day' protests were occurring.
We got every cache & lab we wanted, I feel we saw most (if not all) of the sights, we saw some cultural & political happenings..... what a way to spend 24 hours!!! Thanks to all the CO's for placing.

Our first stop and first cache... wow had it heated up since we left the airport, and the flies! Just wow! Such a great drive in though and so pretty. Searched about a bit before finding it on the ground in the open. unsure where it should return to we put it in the log next to the seat in a likely location close to where it was found.
With GreyHams we set of for a short 24hour visit of Alice Springs. Certainly there is an element of crazy in only staying such a short time but what a great trip and place to visit, so worth it. I have been seeking the red outback dirt for a while now and for the past few opportunities have been greeted by lush greenery hiding that iconic red dirt!
Still, it was stunning and I feel the green just made the scenery look more stunning highlighting the red rock formations. Loved the gorges, little waterways, dry creek beds and the chirpy little budgies at the gorges.
With temperatures forecast to be up around the low 40's it was a little culture shock! On arriving at the airport and collecting our reliable little SUV we hid in its lovely aircon and made the scenic drive out to Trephina Gorge. Perfect location and first stop... and the flies, SO many sticky little flies!
With a select number of caches on our list the gorges and stops on our way back into Alice highlighted the areas Geology and locations of interest as we cached our way back into town. Some short walks, fun little tracks and much variety in our list of types, LGA's, and DT among others.
After checking into our little villa, sorting out its aircon we set off for one of the little tracks that tested out our little car but carefully we made it through its eroded surface and water filled crossings. AL's, more EC's and some local about town caches gave us a good experience of being in this little town and I feel the caching showed us all we could see for the full experience.
The recent alcohol restrictions brought in we experienced first hand, all well organised and regulated. With the evening sorted it was onto Roberto's for the BEST pizza. Highly recommend the food and the friendly service offered to us and the locals while we were there, don't let the broken and boarded windows in the area put you off, it's worth trying.
The following morning we used to finish off the last of our list, with the multi, letterbox, WIG's and final AL's. The AL's took us to a little park where an invasion day rally was in place, a public holiday the streets were busy... the temperature 38C by 10am!
Many thanks to all the COs for your caches that led us on a great little trip of Alice and its highlights.

Are muggles ever not a problem ?
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.
Thanks to 2Lost-Souls from mogni

Great find on a lovely weekend away in the East Macs. Too hot for walking so left the other caches here for another day. TFTC.
This country is amazing, around every corner, over every hill, mountain or river, there is always a great view of the landscape out here in the Outback of the NT.
Thanks for sharing this amazing location.

We were surprised how much there was to see at this gorge, and at how many people were visiting it. Of course all the caches had to be found, and this was one I snaffled after a short search.
Found with Mosaikmum and Agelessone while on our holiday trip through Queensland and central Australia TFTC
Found with vk2rg and Agelessone while spending a couple of COLD nights at Trephina Gorge. Beautiful location! Signed log. TFTC.

Took a while to find. Trust your GPSr. The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. We were overthinking the hint. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

On our second day in Alice and we took a drive to Ross River Homestead. A quick find with Jac-Jam before taking a drive to a nearby cache along a bummpy track. TFTC,
Visiting all the nice places in the East MacDonnell area and at the same time collecting caches, tftc
Had to wait for some muggles to leave on their walk. Not sure if we found the waterhole, we found a hole with no water?

A quick trip to the centre over the ten day easter break. Picked up a few caches i hadn't done and saw some spectacular scenery. TFTC TNLN
Alice is expecting rain so I've come out this way to get a few more smileys in the area before the roads are too messy. Once again this is another fabulous location, the place has soo many. TFTC
We took our geokids to the Red Centre for the spring school holydays. Great place, fantastic experience. We flew from Birsbane to Uluru, did climb the Rock, visited Katja Tutas, Kings Canyon, Wes and East Mcdonnel ranges, down to Simpson Desert, back to Alice, and via the Henbury Craters back to Uluru.
Trephina Gorge is a lovely spot great for camping away form the usual crowds!
We especially enjoyed the Panorama walk and the Bluff vistas!
The hint was a bit misleading for us and it is usually used for cashes that are attached to seats and benches. This one was not the case and a bit more hunting was required...

I was heading up to Alice Springs from Adelaide on my own to meet up with FeatherWaite and decided to deviate a little to make the journey
I ended up travelling via Lambert Centre, Finke, the Old Ghan track, Chambers Pillar, the Hugh River Stock Route, Rainbow Valley, Owen Springs Reserve and a trip out to Ruby Gap for good measure, finding a few caches along the way. It took me a few days longer, but was well worth it.
Found this one on a visit to Trephina Gorge on my way to Alice Springs from Ruby Gap.

After staying at Ross River Resort in the East MacDonnell Ranges on this part of my great trip up the middle with a couple of muggle friends it was time to head to Alice Springs.
Just picking up random caches while I can without upsetting them to much.
Called in here early to bet the heat and enjoyed the walk around the gorge and took in the fantastic views.

The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 9. Today was a long day getting to head North, starting with a loop around the East McDonald Ranges, including Trephina Gorge and Arltunga. I got to revisit the Plenty Highway via the current Binns track and after a quick stop at Gemtree back to the Highway till dusk.
A bit of a tricky start to the gorge proceedings, but once found I could move onto the EC and the hill climb.
Thanks.

WHOOPS! I'm logging about 100-200 or so caches like 3 months after the trip that we found them on! Completely forgot to log these but I did not forget the trip! Found this cache along with many others on an adventure around the red centre. Along this adventure we visited and explored many phenomenal and surreal places such as Woomera, Coober Pedy, Uluru and Mutitjulu, Kata Tjuta, Wattarka, Tnorala, Both East and West Macdonnell ranges, Arltunga, Ruby Gap, Palm Valley, Parts of the Finke road, Boggy Hole, Rainbow Valley, Old Ghan Route, Chambers Pillar, Oodnadatta track, Mount Dare, Dalhousie Springs, Painted Desert, Moon plane and I'm sure I've missed a few! Thank you so much for the cache. Found with Ferociousflea and -Beaker- along with our mint 79 series that accomplished alot in this two week time frame.

What a beautiful spot! Thank you for showing us. We loved the hike over the rim and back through the gorge. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I sat right here waiting for Becon and did not know I was just about on top of the cache. We started looking after lunch and ended up where I started. Good hide in a magnificent place - thanks.
We are somewhat good at going round in circles and we proved it today. Found it on our second circuit of the parking area. Loved the place and the cache- many thanks.
Had to wait for a bunch of school children to leave the seated area before my search. TFTC.
This is a really cool container, I have only seen them in photos but never one in real life, thank you.
Found at 11:18:00 AM. Staying in Alice for a few days, driving around sightseeing and grabbing a few caches.

Back in Alice Springs after a month in Darwin catching up on caches not collected on our last visit. Love the outback and the trekking around Trephina Gorge Nature Park. An easy find.

We were only planning on stopping in Alice overnight to do a bit of a clean up and catch up with the washing but decided to make it two nights and do a little bit of sightseeing and relaxing at the same time. We chose to do the loop on Binns Track and back on The Ross River Highway and pick up a few caches out this way.
We haven't been to Trephina gorge before and were absolutely amazed at it's beauty. We enjoyed the walks around here and have noted it as a good camping spot for the future.
This would be an incredible place at sunset. There were a few people milling around at the car park getting ready to go on one of the longer walks so we headed off to do the earth cache first and waited for them to get sorted and leave. This plan worked well as when we retuned w had the place to ourselves and the cache was located in the first place we looked and our name has been entered into the log.
Thanks 2Lost-Souls for the cache

There were a few people milling around at the car park getting ready to go on one of the longer walks so we headed off to do the earth cache first and waited for them to get sorted and leave. This plan worked well as when we retuned w had the place to ourselves and the cache was located in the first place we looked and our name has been entered into the log.
Thanks 2Lost-Souls for the cache
Taken a drive along the Ross Highway to do a few caches.
Such beautiful scenery is breath taking. Love the Outback.
Thanks for a great cache in a beautiful area.

I arrived mid morning for a stroll
The place is living up to its reputation for being the busiest campground in the East Macs !!
Caravans, campervans and tents everywhere !!
And it isn't yet peak season [:o]
First stop on me stroll was at this cache
Not a long walk from where I parked at the picinic area.
And following the clue,
I soon spied a good hiding spot for a cache
TFTC !!
I also spied a handy tap to top up me waterbottle

Found on ANZAC Day, and we paused a number of times today to reflect on our good fortune to be able to wander freely in this beautiful country of ours. The cache here was only a small part of the fun - we did some walking up the Gorge and back the rim for spectacular views. Thanks for the hide in such a lovely spot.
Found during the Alice not-a-mega. I lived on this park for 3 months in 1997 and this was my first visit back here in 20 years. Really great to come back and see some old haunts. Thanks 2 Lost_Souls
Found as part of the 'Capital Crunchers' team for the day
Wow! Loved this location. TY. The walk around after lunch was well worth it. We even saw a perenti lizard.
Thanks to 2Lost-Souls for the cache.
Found during our five week journey half-way around Australia, for the NT Experience OzMega event, somewhere between: ACT -> NSW -> Qld -> NT -> SA -> Vic -> NSW -> ACT.
So many stories to tell. So many experiences had. So little time to mention them all.
Sincerely
