A quick find with Tregearp whilst out for a trip up the Wairoa Valley. All in good order. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks Boggles and Co. for another cache.
A quick find with SJT_NZ while exploring the Wairoa valley, Thanks for placing the cache all in good order.
Awesome spot.. The geomutts swam in the river for ages.. Quick find and sign.. Than x4tc
A quick jaunt up Wairoa valley with this being the main target in limited time. After two DNF further down the road I was glad to finally get a find. Grabbed the required extra coordinates also. Thanks for the cache.
Have had this in mind for sometime so today was the day. Raining at home and still raining at GZ. Had trouble finding satellites for the GPS but had a rough idea of the location and the hint helped.
Remembered this site from the Godzone Adventure race a few years back when I was driving for the event. Had to pick up a South Korean team that has been short coursed. Took them from here to Tophouse in the middle of the night.
Found cache, replaced torn zip-lock plastic bag, signed log book and remembered to grab the coords for Home. All good here.

A slight detour on my way to pick up friends in Wakefield to take to the airport; you know how it is...
Spurred on by a couple of finds since my last attempt almost eighteen months ago (where does the time go), I made some extra time on my way to Wakefield to take a fresh look.
Very frosty down here even on a bright, sunny afternoon and a bit wet underfoot, but I aimed for the place I remember looking before and, with the help of the hint, spied the hidey hole straightaway. How I miss that before I do not know.
However, no cache was there! Argh! Retreating down hill I then spotted the container so, after signing, wedged it back it where it belonged with a large stone in front.
Made sure to grab the bonus coords for another day too!
Thanks

The Seagnoid has a caching mission of two this weekend so the Team (The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I head to Brightwater, Nelson to complete his mission. After P&Gs this morning recharging Tobys battery for a couple of hours its time to explore further. After exploring Spooners Tunnel we are back on track and heading to Wairoa Valley.
Toby and I are having fun driving up this road. Another snag and tag. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I came over last night. Something went wrong and Toby woke up this morning with a flat battery, so instead of the original plan we cached around town doing park-and-grabs, leaving Toby's engine running each time. Wel just went to the Spooner tunnel caches (awesome place) and Toby survived being switched off there, so now it is back to plan A - the Wairoa Valley. Loving the road.
I didn't notice the bit about the coordinates for the other half of this cache . But that's okay, the road was closed at the end, so we'll be back one day, probably not too far away.

One of my targets for the day and the turn around point for this afternoons efforts. Parked on the road and walked down the track to here and commenced the search. GPS was flakey and pointed me one side then the other, endlessly, and the recent DNFs had me concerned for a bit. After a while I employed a systematic search and spotted the hint items and the cache. Gathered the required numbers as the sandflies got their fill.
Extra hint; look for fat engorged sandflies!!

It's been a few weeks since we came over the hill for a shopping/caching combo visit and with our in-law guests still away it was decided to head Nelson/Richmond. Usual rules applied; drop off mrs and Olivia in Nelson for a couple of hours - cache, pick up and drop off at Richmond Mall - cache. Pick up and return home. It works. I managed 7 caches on the first part and following a trip through Wairoa River Gorge and the aptly named Lee Valley I gained another 15 finds for a pleasing daily find rate of 22. Beautiful weather over this side, Blenheim had cloud all day apparently and good to see some new places; swimming holes and a chance to feed the local sandfly population some more of my blood!

This was my prime objective for this mornings trip. The previous DNF several months ago did not put me off.
I had the place to myself - aside from the abandoned car - so was able to clamber and forage and forage some more.
I found a few likely hint-type objects but these gave up nothing. Then word got around the sand-fly community that 'fresh blood' was in town. Running out of places to look, I accepted this was going to be a DNF for today.
Not saying its *not* there, but the passage of time and the passing seasons may well have covered the hiding place.

A last minute trip to Nelson for the weekend (decided friday night) We arrived with not much natural light left but I thought this was gonna be a troubleless hide and I wanted the coords for the 'other' cache closer to Nelson while we were here. The bank was slippery with nothing to hold on to but spikey branches that catch you anyway. We were looking despite this until I got one in the finger that stung like a #@&! and then bled like one once the piece was removed. Needless to say we wont be in a hurry to return Thanks anyway.
This is going to be a busy place this weekend. TA2 for the GodZone Adventure Race.
The last time we were here there were too many wasps for our liking. No such problems today so cache was soon in hand . tftc
Getting dark - nearly 9-15pm when found. Must be time to finish up for the day.
Tons of biting mosquitos around the area.

Good to find this one after not finding Birds and River cache just down the road. It was a bit slippery on the bank and I was quite happy to let StreetWalker climb up further and make the find while I waited, wedged behind one of the lower gum trees .
Made sure that we noted the co-ords for the sister cache in Stoke, don't really want to have to come back to get them. TFTC.

#8748. After a few easy finds to start the day, things got tougher. This one wasn't too hard to spot once I'd scrambled far enough up the somewhat slippery bank. TFTC.
Up in this neck of the woods to check out Gilbert Lodge ready for a GeoHashing event at Waitangi weekend...using the ipad app and tracked it down nicely without the hint...then I remember looking at this one not long ago...the name of the cache??...luckily I opened the log book the right way because it reminded me I needed to take notes!!

Up the valley today doing some caching and signed the Away Cache, picked up the co-ordinates for the Home Cache which is in the street I used to live in! TFTC
With work to do in Richmond and a bit of time to spare, I decided today would be a good day for heading up the Wairoa Valley to collect the first part of "Home and Away" and a few other caches along the way. The "destination cache" and so nice to have it so I can get rid of that annoying cache so close to home. It has been nice coming up here to this seldom visited Valley. TFTC
Had the place to myself this morning at 7.30am and even managed to leave the car running whilst I nipped up the bank to look for the cache. Found after some searching. Got a bit wet though - weather wasn't the best!! Now to find part two....Cheers!!
It has taken me such a long time to look for this one but at last, today was the day. Had lots of trouble so checked the logs. Saw that it was a nice easy find, and sure enough it was, once I knew where it was. Isn't that always the way!!!! Noted coords so I can collect the other smilie. TFTC
Home and Away has been one of my favourite programs since I was a kid. Nice easy find. Thanks

This one has been on the "to do" list for so long, not because I've felt the need to come up this valley but because it holds the key to a puzzle cache that sits as the closest cache to home.
The last time I came to this location may years ago was on a mid winter weekday to collect some "landscaping items". Unfortunately I got the car stuck. I walked 1km before a logging truck took pity on me and hauled me out. No problems today.
Another one down on day 4 of the 31days of Geocaching.
TFTC
PS. I'll be saving "Home" for a rainy day this month.

Discovered the 'Home' puzzle cache last night. Looked up this cache and dscovered I'd already found it over two years ago when I was a newbie cacher, but hadn't noticed the information. Revisited this evening just as it was getting dark. Took a few minutes to zero in on the cache again and recorded the information. Finding 'Home' may have to wait until my next visit up this way.
Never been for a drive up here before. Came up here at 11pm so didn't see much. A quick enough find and got the co-ords for the Home cache which we are yet to do. Thanks!
A late afternoon drive took us to this cache and a couple of others further up the valley. It's a while since this one was found so a bit of extra growth to negotiate but no real problems. We even remembered to get the required info for the other part of the double. TFTC.
We had an itch and had to scratch it. Grandson would be navigator and off we went. Second find this year [?] I suppose we're as guilty as the next one. It's out of the way and although Holymu was faintly familiar with the area I've never been there. Another spot on the list to camp for a day or so to escape the trials and tribulations of life. Got the info for the double. TFTC
This was the first cache of what turned out to be a fun diversion up the gorge! Cheers Gav [10355]
A cool spot we've never been to before, but we'll be back once the summer warms up a bit! TFTC
Had to have another try on the way back out of the gorge as too many muggles and some funny GPS readings today for some reason. Found it quickly second time round though! Cheers
Mrs LB thought this would make a great place to camp maybe one it will happen the river looks so nice and clear tftc
Having never been up this way before - in fact before last night didnt know any of this was here lol - anyway... Found the right area parked really close as we had the area to ourselves and the cache which was soon found - thanks for bringing us here - signed log - shame we didnt read the bit about retrieving the other cache coords at the time - but since I (opps mean we !!) am now eyeing up a walk up Ben Nevis I am sure we will get it next time
A nice drive into this area and the rain was playing ball with us so we were happy campers A quick scramble up the bank and cache was soon in hand and signed and only as i start to log do i notice that there was supposed to be some co-ords for another cache in here DAMM looks like a return trip to this one TFTC
A quick but scratchy find on a very hot and sticky afternoon. One set of picnic-ing muggles but I don't think they paid too much attention. Now, I can finally knock off "Home"! TFTC
We drove to this one straight (if that could be the right word on this road) after doing the Edge of the World cache. So it was off the edge of the world and go far far Away! Found the cache, got the co-ords for 'Home', then had a look around. A lovely river. Thanks.

Nice spot, but didn't spend long looking around, too many hungry sandflies! Left TB
Quick find, nice spot, a shame to see a trashed car and a road cone in the river, might have to contact the council on this one.
Quick grab no one else about this early in the morning. now just have to find the after half
Thanks Bitsprayer

It was nice being driven in to an area like this as I could look around and enjoy the countryside. A lovely area for a picnic on a nice day but today the moisture kept the biters away!.

Needed the clue to find this one - the co-ords seemed to be about 10M out to me.
Good find by Samy! Snr who remembered that there was a cache hidden here, while on a break from driving around further afield with a work mate.
Didn't have his Gps with him on the trip so went on instinct and found it.

Cool spot. Easy find. I was an easy find for the sand-flies, too... Possibly the fastest log entry ever made.
Wow! a rather long drive into this one and rather pleased not to see any other traffic at all. Very deserted at GZ as well though looks like it's popular with the hoons using the field as some sort of speedway track, it's pretty messed up.

Mr KE took a wrong turn and got lost on the drive here, even the cache owner sitting in the passengers seat didn't realise how much off course we were. No trouble making the find at gz even with the added pressure of being watched. Brrrrr the river looked cold today, nice spot. Our kids are too young for me to know the series but I still enjoyed finding the "away" cache, "home" next. Thanks.
For an out of the way vally there seem to be lots of cars around, a quick find by M TFTC
Nice little park although it a shame the hoon's have trashed the area
Dropped of a Geo Coin I have had for way too long

Thanks for this lovely Sunday afternoon drive. I take it from all the donuts in the grass that it is frequented at other times too. TFTC +sheep coin (596)
Beut day for a drive in the country. I had never been out here before so thanks for providing a reason to visit. - TB. Andre fell asleep on way home so will leave Home till during the week.
Nice drive up the valley. Had to avoid brambles and sandflies at GZ but found by Sobad without the hint as Mrs Sobad was still settling the GPS. Left Doolitles Tasting Travel Bug. Took nothing TFTC
4th to find. This cache has been busy today great spot although I did tripped over quick find TFTC
After a horrible night with a sick Toddler B, Mrs B was tired of watching Mickey Mouse on TV (again & again & again) so thought a drive might help with his sleep! Unfortunately it didn't help - and the peace at GZ was disturbed by a very uphappy boy! Cache quickly in hand but any attempts at the 2nd half of this series abandoned till the weekend!
Nice One!!!!!!!! Just enough rain to settle the dust and not enough to create mud, all of which made for a pleasant and scenic afternoon drive to GZ. Pig Valley was at its best. Easy find that was shared by numerous sandflies that must have been waiting for their main meal to arrive. Well done! Thanks
