On a cache run with phlphotos and JJCC and we targeted some archived caches in the area on our visit...so we went for GC1RC1Z Westy Headframe today. It appears that after this cache was archived it was reinstated as a premium cache with a new logbook.
6461 + 819 = 7280. Found during a brief morning run in the Newcastle area.
After doing the nearby Letterbox Hybrid I was driving towards the Brick Pit Earthcache when this one appeared on my Pocket Query. Nice and close to the road so a quick park and walk in and a wonderful cache was located - very well crafted and located. Interesting area. A pity it has since been archived - it was in good condition. A Favourite Point.
Thanks The Cash Man - maybe it could be adopted by someone ?
TNLN - TFTC !!
Cheers....

We finally got this cache off the to-do list. Once at GZ the cache was quickly spotted. Great camo on the cache Cashman. You put a lot of effort in it! Took PT
Fantastic camo!
Unfortunately, the cache is empty, even the sistema has gone.
Will send a note to Cash Man, who is one of our favourites.

On a day drive around the area, picked this up at the end of the day.
Nice hide and loving the camo on the thing!

had to pick up some mats for the forester at Edgeworth and decided it was about time we grabbed this coming back. Nicely done camo but we found coords were about 5m out - but it didn't matter due to the hint. Could have been real tricky without it. Thanks Cash Man
We saw this one almost straight away, but it was an excellent container, very clever. Definitely a favourite from us, particularly given the background of the headframe. The guardian spider is still there doing a great job, he probably waits every day for his bit of fun. We had no swaps but took the TB to move on. Thanks for a great hide.
We parked at Glendale Shopping centre and walked to GZ. Was clever cache with a few crickets keeping in company! TFTC.
As I was`walking towards GZ I was thinking, how's he gonna hide this with all the mowing, landscaping, etc. but all was soon revealed, clever camo!! TFTC Cash Man!!
Inspired by SJHRJH we had to have a look for this one. Thanks for the great local history.
Was here yesterday for a tour of the underground simulation setup the Rescue guys have built - really amazing! And currently do a little work at the current Westy pit so stopped here on way past. Had seen this one at Freemans years back but sadly did not pay much attention. Didn't realise this was the oldest metal head frame, nor the scale of the earlier Westy operation. Thanks for the cache and taking me to a bit of history that had been right under my nose for years without me spotting it.
Finally got this hide back as it should be after a couple of months. My apologies to those that have found it since October.
Now this is a cache with meaning! Thank you for all the information. This was certainly a different era back then. Even my muggle brother who was with us had not visited the spot before. We even spotted some special plants in the gardens TFTC
Well, that was an interesting read. Thanks for the information, we would never have bothered stopping here, but for the geocache. After the find, we spent a while looking at the information panels. TN/LN/SL and learned a bit too .
Interesting to see where the mining head that used to live at The Miners Memorial (GC1F34Q) ended up. TFTC
Found after a short search. Was only using the iPhone so it kept sending me into the trees. No sign of any TB's or GC's. TNLNSL.
Nice quick find. Got a big fright when I picked up the cache and a spider ran up my arm!! TFTC
Found on a bit of a cloudy day.
First cache in australia.
Left my mates tb.
It's on it's way Huss.

Thanks! Found it, but didnt contain a geocoin . I was going to take it down to the Far South Coast with me tomorrow....
A busy road here at took a while to pull in and doubly long to pull out again. We pondered that any mine rescue effort would be an hour late to the scene unless they had a chopper. Took much less time to find and log. Thanks The Cash Man.
4946. [font=Century Gothic][green]An impressive structure and the Headframe is good too. A quick find for Mr Winglen but not so quick back on to the road. Wouldn't like to think how long it would take rescue teams to get out of here.

Found it! Whilst passing by today made this fine with the Boggii. The framehead is so large it must have been a big truck to bring it here.
Impressed with the hide technique. Very inventive. Thanks for bringing us here.

I've got too many TB's on me, so I stopped by to dropp off The Mute Swan. Happy Travels my friend.
I always enjoy a cashman cache.
I have driven past his so many times and have never taken the time to stop.
I really enjoyed this hide. and the location. and the history.
I also noticed in the cache a hand written note from a child explaining how to trade. that made me smile almost as much as the cache did.

Another great history lesson about the the region and a great container. There was no log in the cache luckily I had one with me so I signed it and dropped it in. TFTC.
Great hide. Found easily with the geo kiddies. Took scarecrow and sheriff badge. Left eraser and cactus. TFTC
Coolest cache I've ever found. Thanks Cash man. I found the cache but BernieDEEs beat me to the trackable. Tftc
Loved how the cache blended with it's surrounds. Found with N@attack. Took MNC TB. TFTC
Found today on the way home. Nice bit of history. A very interesting cache - thanks for bringing us here! SL TNLN TFTC.
Found this one at 1:20pm. Very much liked the cleverness of this one - and the historical photos on the nearby information board. Picked up some rubbish as we left. Thanks!
Called in today to check on the cache. Found that someone had pulled the cache from the ground leaving it exposed to muggles. Cache repaired.
How could you miss this structure? Too bad if you found a mine and you wanted to set it all up in secret. Found the cache on the grass and could see a spot where it should go. Replaced as best I could. Nice camo job. Clear skies!
Quick stop off today after visiting the Glendale shops and Koorong. Loved the camo but perhaps it should be sunk a little further into the ground to prevent any muggle problems. TFTC!
Brilliant camo! Thks for hint CM, I probably would not have found this in the dark without it.

2nd time back here today, still no luck.
Searched tonite undisturbed for 30 minutes, except for a couple of big huntsman spiders.

What a beauty. Great hide and great container. the coords and clue were spot on. We were very impressed with this cache. Read the history. SL TFTC
Found on a very hot day. Didn't take long to locate although the clue is quite vague and might need revising. TNLNSL. Interesting structure.
TFTC found when given another clue. I think a better clue would be "90 degrees vertically and horizontally".
Reperio at 1810. Whizzed by this spot a couple of days ago without my GPS with and wondered what this structure was then. Stopped by here on the way home from work today to see what was along the lakeside road, and saw this one coming up and thought I'd better go see what this one is about. Pulled up the cache notes to have a read of the info while there, and then got to finding the cache. Cache didn't take too long to find, and I happily walked away knowing a little more than I did when I arrived.
Gratias.

Searched for what should have been an easy find however there was a mountain of lawn clippings around what I thought should have been GZ so maybe a check of location may be needed. Thanks anyway but it will have to wait till i am next in Newcastle on my annual pilgrimmage from Melbourne.
Found it ! My first for the day and it was a nice eazy find too. SL TNLN TFTC

I attend GZ with the intention of replacing the cache in the original position.
However when I got there I found a very large branch that had been used to jemmy open and damage the hide.
It seems that someone had been looking for something.
I will replace in a new hide shortly.

This one has gone missing. I will work out a new hide in a different location shortly.
Spent ages looking for this one, but I think it's gone missing! To make things worse it was pouring rain!!! Perhaps a welfare check is needed for this guy.
was out wandering at the local bunnings with the wife and thought lets have a look around, of course timed it to perfection and it started raining and spent 5 mins in the rain following the i.phne in circles whilst the wife stood next to ground zero high and dry! tftc took penny left pearl. thanks cashman
