After finding a couple of archived caches in Marlborough last week I thought I would have a wee look around my home area. And what do you know? There was one just about on our back door. We took the bikes for a bit of a blast and I found it immediately. The cache was just lyig in the open. I could hardly believe my eyes. It was in great condition with the original log still very useable.
Very pleased to find this one - especially that it is so close to home.
We got home in time for GK to watch the WRC Turkey so he was happy too.
Thanks beltfamily for placing and leaving this cache.

Didn't notice until just now that this cache has been archived. Seems it was still in our GSAK database from a previous visit to the Nelson area. We parked nearby on our way out of the Wai-Iti Domain and made the short walk to GZ. The cache is still in place - an interesting spot and hide here.
I earned the terrain rating by vaulting the fence on my way to the gz. Did a bit of a circle round before looking in the right direction and there it was. TFTC - 65 of 75
Beautiful bird song on a warm & sunny afternoon.

Easy find. Was initially put off by the terrain rating but a bit of a stroll really. TFTC
We really enjoyed this cache.Driven past many a time and had no idea of the big reserve hidden back here.As an added bonus we met the lady who owns the house close by.This turned into an hours conversation and lots of history of the old Nelson railway line running through here.We did struggle for a while to find the cache, and it was luck and perseverence that helped us in the end, definately not our GPS!!Anyway, thanks for another great cache,in a great location that we would otherwise not have found if it wasnt for caching!.
Good place to eat our lunch. Not peanut butter sandwiches though, we had cheese lettuce and Branston pickle. Tftc
A little bit of wandering around in ever decreasing circles but we got there in the end. TFTC
Very clever! Enjoyed looking for this one, the last on a short jaunt out in the area. TFTC
Took a little time to find this one. Sometimes you really don't see what's right in front of you..

Kitty! spotted this faster than I could blink. Think I could have been distracted for a while, following the GPS to a different spot. TFTC
Finally the stars were aligned and I managed to call in when passing by.
Nice hide.

First cache on the way back to Christchurch. Nice tracks and a surprisingly exposed, yet hidden, find. Cheers Gav [7014]
Not being to long in this area this was one of those places we didnt know existed !! Certainly done in between showers and on wet ground - and carefully advoided those holes and managed to be in the right spot to spot the cache - took nothing left nothing thanks for the cache
Nearly missed the turn off for this one, A quick backtrack and we were once again heading in the right direction. Took awhile to find the correct way in to the cache and after wandering around the GPS had me in a spot with no cache . Back to the car grab more info and return to the site and hunted around trying to make sure i didnt visit some of the underworld with all those holes (some were quiet deep!!! ). It wasnt long before Niteowlnz had the cache in hand
I hate looking for caches in holes, always scared to think whats done there, sure is a lot of holes around here. Only 1 thing worse looking for a cache from 1x to 2x m from gz and lots of rocks, still looking for that one!
Found this one with relative ease. The cache was dry considering how much wet weather we have had.
1530hrs Have stopped off at this park a few times now for a cuppa. Easy walk for a quick find, thanks. Our blog www.motorhominginxs.blogspot.com
A rather chunky area to walk around but a smooth hide. A quick find and I realised very quickly why I didn't find it last time when I visited at night.

3175. We followed the tracks and the GPSr led us straight to the cache. We just had to concentrate on our footwork and avoid the holes and sudden dips!
Thanks

Quick find after visiting the Wakefield Craft Fair. Well the fair was just the excuse for the caching really. Found a pair of sunglasses at GZ. TFTC #965
I had to look hard for this one but laughed once I had found it, How did I miss that lol. TFTC Cheers Bo
Jeez, watch out for the holes! No running in that grass, you'll break something. I've been here many times growing up as there was a great swimming hole just upstream and cricket is / was played in the park opposite. TNLN Thanks.
Just on daqrk ,last of the day and much frantic searching revealed nothing. Then a shout went up from our interested helper and despite there being two cachers on site the container was found by this person. Signed the log, quite embarrasing really.
Thanks

Found just on dark, by my host who came out for a evening of caching.
Thanks Bitsprayer

Was put off a bit by the mention of WP error in the listing, so added that to our hunt.... only to eventually go to GZ and find it very nearby.
Lots of holes about indeed.

Was a bit worried as I walked up to GZ but soon had the cache in hand luck for me.... GPS was pretty spot on too which helped..........TFTC
we actually drove in to this a couple of weeks or so ago.it was shitty wet cold weather, so decided to leave it for another day. did not realise there is such a large reserve back there.
we saw the logs, and thought hmmm, this could be tricky. So went armed with two gps units, geko and 60cx. well hawkeye worker had it nailed within a couple of minutes. ha ha , nice one belt family. given all the comments about the cordinates, both units consistantly zerod 5 m nth of actual cache (which fits in with cache name), but that is well with in search zone. and as you say, you will see it if you look. we enjoyed this ,especially as we were mentally prepared for a long search. thanks.

Revised coords are spot on. Whew I wouldn't like to do this one in the dark! Another intersting reserve I've always meant to visit. TFTC, Biggles.
Arrived in the dark and carefully picked my way over toward GZ. Made a bit of a cursory look but quickly realized a night visit wasn't such a great idea so will leave it till another day.

Thanks to Mr KE we now have THE DEFINITIVE coords. . Let's see how these turn out? It seems all rather odd. Maybe there is some kind of GPS twilight zone in operation around there!

Mr KE couldn't resist another go at this one so when kiwigrandad said he was taking his Fiat 850 for a Sunday drive to Foxes Hill he jumped at the chance to stop back in here. We zero'ed out in exactly the same spot as last time so focused our 15minute search 15m North of gz but we couldn't find the cache. Up the road we got cell coverage again so used the SOS option for a hint which was quickly given and gratefully received.[^] Back at gz after another cache we found the container approx 15m SSW away - go figure. Thanks for the cache and the hint we wouldn't have looked in that direction without it.
Found at last with couple of hints. Certainly easyer when GZ and directions are in the right direction.

No luck with this one today. It was 5pm so the light was getting poor and with a big search area Mr KE spent most of his time scratching his head trying to make sense of the cache name hoping that would lead him to the cache. He just didn't get it so thought he would resort to a phone a friend - damn no Vodafone coverage here. We will stop in for another look next time we are passing and hopefully in better light.
Almost gave up. Andre decided it was a bad area after grabbing a thorny branch. hadn't read any of the logs. Just expanded the search perameter. 10m from where my GPS was most often indicating. TY. + 2 pens. p.s. Andre for the first time asked to write his name in the logbook.
We searched for ages but eventually gave up as it was a very cold and frosty morning and we were getting cold.
Now this one I really enjoyed. I'd already had a good think about the cache name, and approached the location with a certain thought in mind - it turned out to be spot on. The listed coords did seem a bit out(perhaps 15m north of the actual spot), but with wet vegetation like that nearby, that's not surprising - one just has to widen the search boundary. It took me about ten minutes to find, and the rather damp conditions meant that any muggles stayed far away. I hope most people realise that rain on trees make them even more impervious to radio signals - don't try caching in a wet forest. And certain trees are much worse than others - if they feel like that on the day you arrive. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1548)
Last for an afternoon caching. At Brightwater so do we or don't we - pleased we did. After our first visit we had worked out there was an easy way in - which we took. Also the previous logs had suggested a wider search would be needed. Found the cache in the type of spot we had been looking for but away from the area we had searched on the first visit. Our GPS said GZ was 16m away. Took a TB left nothing. TFTC
Next time I'm near I'll re-read the coords. Must have had a bad satellite configuration on the day. Sorry about that.
Given J not being a fan of peanut butter she allowed B to sniff out the goods. Has potential to be an exhausting one if your mind isn't on it. Took the easy path out. TFTC
Quick search and thanks to usakiwi's hint the cache was in our hands. Love peanut butter & jam sandwiches. Good one TFTC
Nice One!!!!!!!!! Bit of a dilemma on this one. Yes or No was quickly resolved and off we went. GPS only indicated general area (GZ was actually 15 or so metres from cache site ), so trial and error was required. No worries, as quick find was made. No clue required as long as you read the cache page. Much fun! Thanks
GPS showed 2.3m accuracy after 5 minutes of averaged readings, but it may pay to allow for an extended search area as per usakiwi's log. I want to repeat that the cache is out in the open for those who choose to "see"
Add us to the list of little sad faces. We were going for the first to find, not that we would have got it anyway as we were here about an hour & a half after the first finders!!! We found the hole not to trip in to though!
Too tricky for us today. This was to be cache find 850 - but no luck. The GPS gave us a number of zeros - in a range of places. It was a bleak afternoon so we finally gave ourselves 5 minutes more but still no success. But we didnt fall in any holes so it could have been worse. Will try again.
