I needed to go to Porirua to collect a GPS and TwigNZ offered to provide transport as his weekend plans had been cancelled, and he still needs a cache for today too, so we made our way over here. Humungous torrential downpour on the way over, but it stopped in time to get the first waypoint of a multi. Then we stopped for a nearby challenge cache, but it started raining again so we headed off for the second multi waypoint, at which it had stopped raining so we went back and finished the challenge. Now onto the multi final, which involves roughly coming past here, so we came past here. Got to within about 10m and my phone GPS decided it could not cope withthe heavy clouds and trees and the layer of water over everything so we switched to Twig's. He found the cache in a place I had already seached, but I accidentally ruled out early as there was a bright green leaf basically right on the cache. Woohoo! Found it! No, it's a bright green leaf! But under the bright green leaf... was treasure...
But no more. This cache has been removed at the CO's request.

I mean nothing personal to any COs when I say that Multis are generally speaking my least favourite cache type, so to do a streak of them for 10 consecutive days was quite an effort on my part. Especially the last 2 or 3 as I was struggling to find any in my area that were simple 2-stagers that could be done after work in the middle of winter with little to no light.
But I managed it, and since then have been looking for an opportunity to go and look for the Challenge Cache which relates to this feat. When the Seagnoid said he needed a Multi for today, and wanted to go to Porirua, and with my own weekend plans cancelled, it seemed too good an opportunity to pass up.
So it was that the pair of us were here this morning, avoiding massive downpours, to try for a Multi and to find that aforementioned Challenge Cache. The Seagnoid then mentioned that we would be passing this archived cache and perhaps we ought to stop and gather it up as per standing instructions from the CO.
We walked towards GZ, but tS's phone does not cope too well under tree cover so we switched to mine which performs a little better. Mine said it was 'there', and there it was. TS had already looked there but hadn't spotted it, being distracted by a very shiny leaf. I opened up the container to find that the log within was mostly just pulped paper. No matter, as we were removing it anyway.
Thanks for setting this cache up in the first instance.

Found on second attempt for the day. Spent too much time looking further away than I should have been. Log too wet to sign, so taking photo. Tftc!
Group of 4 took a bit longer than expected but were left extra confused when 2 of us found one and 2 found the other inches from each other! Cool spot!
Down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but today dawned bright and clear with almost no wind.
So while the other half had a sleep in, I headed out for a walk to pick up a few local caches. This one was actually the closest one, but it gave me the most trouble. The GPS wasn't really settling under the tree cover and I was assuming the hiding spot would be in a nook below the path, as the bank above seemed too prone to slipping.
However, after 15 minutes without success, I resorted to the PAF option, but it was too long ago for them, and they couldn't really remember, so unfortunately, I had to leave this one as a DNF to start the day.

After getting back from my walk this morning, this one was still bugging me. And seeing as the girls were still not ready to head off to town, I decided on another quick trip up the hill for another look.
After 5 minutes further searching, finally located the little blighter, in a spot a short distance away from the traps, that I had looked at two or three times before. Obviously not well enough it seems, as it was quite easy to mistake this one for a root, rather than a long black cache.
The log was quite crumbly, but managed to find a firmish spot to sign. TFTC

Noticing a couple of pest traps near GZ, I tried to avoid these etc. After a wide search of the area, I was almost about to give up, when I caught site of a nice hide in an easy spot really.... TFTC
First cache of Day 4 of my visit to the inlet chasing a kiwi and others close by such as this. Parked up and headed in from this end. Nice cosy hide. Btw cache is not under the pest trap close by.
This was a lovely Gully but glad we exited onto Kiriwai,
I would have noted out half way through otherwise...
Not too sure howthat would have gone down with hayzz and kimmy+co

Stayed the weekend in Whitby doing some of the Kiwi trail. Collecting some other local caches. Good to stretch the legs getting to GZ. Several options here but fortunately choose the right one first up. Cache all fine. Thanks Yewtrees for the smiley.
Interesting that there are two containers here. We only found one and where it is hiding, there is no room for another. TFTC
I like to avoid saying’a quick find’ as those sort of comments are very rarely helpful to me! This one however I spied straight away and have hidden it back just a little bit more discretely for the next
Gps was off for us again. Glad we had another look though because mr 8 found it just before we gave up. Tftc.
We couldn't search as there is poison and traps all through the bush. However my children did find painted rocks so it wasn't a wasted walk
I've recently moved to the area and am keen to check out some of the many walkways around. So on this Thursday afternoon when I resorted to popping my son in the push chair to get him to sleep, I decided to hunt out this cache and walk through the track.
Thanks for the find.
Thanks for the find.
I was up this way to grab the nearby challenge cache and I had enough time for this short detour before catching the next train. All in order and a quick find. Thanks for the placement.
The cache I found only had a log from October so I guess there must still be two here.
The one I found was quick and easy.

A quick find in the first place I checked. Co-ords spot on. This is another area I have never been before. Thanks for the cache.
Took a walking circuit around this end of Whitby.
Amazing how much can be traversed off the roads.
Thanks

After looking on the wrong side of the the path MightyMicra found it almost opposite my search area. TFTC
Took this beginner far too long to find it. A spider had made his house over the front entrance. No pen, so will have to come back to sign. Beginners you don’t need to climb down the bank and search in the bush.
Found it! Unfortunately no pen/pencil! We’ll be back to sign and leave a pen!
Needed a cache today to deal to a dot day. Decided to look for this one in the course of paying a visit further around the harbour. The coords lead me to a point where they were indicating GZ was just 3m away, then shot up to suggest GZ was 8m away, even though I hadn’t moved. Wandered around briefly, then hunted more thoroughly at the original GZ. Spotted the cache fairly quickly at that point. #2714. TFTC.
P.S. Impressed to see logs on the RITR paperwork dating back to 2009. It’s lasted well!

A number of very likely hiding places along here; my GPSr initially took me too far but after it settled down there was only one place worth searching, and there it was. All good here now. TFTC.
Regarding Got this one eventually, GPS had me on the other side of the track. Once I looked 'properly' in the hidey hole I found the prize. Nicely camouflaged. Thanks for the detour
A quick and easy find. Thanks
Today we are heading home so it is a slow trip to the airport from Plimmerton. We cached on the way and were in plenty of time to catch the big bird back to Christchurch. What a great MEGA weekend.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

This was the ninth day of my twelve day trip to go to the Wellington Mega. I had to leave Wellington today after a very enjoyable Mega.
A short walk to GZ, then I found the cache just before a muggle appeared. TFTC.

Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

Attending the Wellington MEGA, was great to visit from the sunny Bay of Plenty, my finds have been found with my team, and signed TEAM BOP, to save room on logs. We are really enjoying ourselves and its great to see so many different sights. Please excuse my generic logging in advance and there are sooo many logs to do. Many thanks to all you cache owners out there for all your hard work. Cheers. It was getting really late (nearly the next day lol) when we were here in the area finishing the kiwi series, (decided too dangerous to attempt one at top at this point), but thanks for bringing us here.
WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... After a long day of caching and flagging energy levels, forgetting to log caches can be a reality. We were actually trying to find the track into a nearby hide. In the darkness, it was hard to spot any accessway. But we did mange to find this one. TFTC.

Down in Wellington for the mega with Team BOP. Having lots of fun visiting some interesting and beautiful places getting caches. This was a late night almost early morning cache. Lucky I had an extra day off to catch up on some sleep. TFTC
Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks
I need to locate and sign off three caches for my personal challenge today.
This one was the first. There are some nice narrow roads here with some good views.
Cheers for the cache.

Nice easy find, although wasn't in the first place I looked, didn't know this pathway was here
Visiting relatives again at Xmas time - third attempt to find this - took the dog with me and we managed to find the cache. Thanks
GPS was jumping about a bit but found within a few mins after poking around GZ with a stick. Tftc!
A nice track to walk down to find the cache . TFTC
Caching with RosalieNZ completing the 100, 10, 7 Challenge. Cache log signed as ‘RE’.

Day four of our mission to complete the 100-10-7 challenge.
I initially looked in the wrong place before I noticed the obvious spot on the other side of the track. After that it was a nice quick find. Thank you for the cache.

First of two today, and quickly found in the first place I looked, not far from where I'd parked

Found whilst of my father's day walk with my minions. Minion mk1 foraged and found. TFTC.
I was walking by enroute to another cache so checked to see if this cache was still in place. Both the new container and the original container are still where they were when I found this one. Cheers GSEL

Check GZ and area closed off by Council, wiill check in the new year and see when access will be avaliable, will enable once walkway is open again.
GPS pretty unreliable here. Looked around for suitable hiding places and soon had the cache in hand. TFTC.
A quick find on the way home, heading to GZ and muggle came up from the bottom. Loitered with intent until she disappeared. A quick find and all in good order. TFTC
A quick find with TregearP whilst in the area. The biggest challenge for this one was where to park with narrow roads and a fair bit of traffic.
All good with the cache. TNLNSL, TFTC.

Lots of trash, 2 caches, and 1 muggle! Co-ords seem a few metres out. TFTC :]
Needed to stretch my legs this afternoon so I thought I would knock off a couple of caches on the to do list TFTC
Couldn't find this at the actual coordinates, but then looked further afield and bingo. A spot that looked 'right' and it was. TFTC
Had two goes at looking for this cache - 4th December and again today - no luck in locating it.
Had a very thorough look for this one with Tramper Ted who have previously found it. Could not locate either of the two containers that people have been finding. Too bad about all the rubbish here.
Like others phone GPS not the best so looked in a logical and there were two caches. Signed larger one! Never been on this track before. TFTC
