Had a good run with this one but it's gone now.

02-Aug-13
Had a second look for this one after a talk to a colleague who had found it many months ago. Looked in all the likely spots, but no luck. Not sure if this one is still there and will email the CO.

17-Mar-13
It was only when I read the other records thoroughly did I look in a new spot for the find. Too small to write on I occassionly damage small stuff like this. What a horrible area. All those gardens could be growing food. Tftn

I'd picked up the info from the plaque a couple of months ago just as it started raining so left the final pickup for another day. Today is another day and early morning meant there were no muggles around and I could search in peace. Cache was found where I first thought it would be once I pulled out the torch to confirm. Thought I might have to come back with help but with a lot of squeezing and wriggling, managed to just get the cache out with only a few scratches.
Thanks listmaker for the cache and for highlighting this lovely old mansion.

26-Dec-12
Nice little multi-cache in tranquil surroundings. Very few people around on Boxing Day, which was a good thing; I had to search for way longer than what's the actual difficulty level of the cache.

12-Dec-12
Out and about caching with Whyfarer and Spladem in between events.
We did well without going to the plaque.

I was proven dead wrong on this one.. lol. TFTC with Riddell and Spladem!

Found this one as part of 12 cache day on this iconic #121212 day, which also took in 2 events.. Thanks listmaker and the other various cache owners for the cache, and exercise, Thanks also to Riddell and whyfarer for the company during the day. Well done to Jim and Josie for the 20 year anniversary, thanks for the yummy cake and cream. Thanks also to Daunts for the enjoyable afternoon event, drinks and treats. Find #3237

During the short drive across I read the page and discovered that we wouldn't need to stop at WP1.. It wasn't an easy search, and after 5mins we were about to resort to WP1 when we noticed a gallery photo which helped narrow down our search area.. Once I took off my sunnies I could see it in a space we'd each already looked.. Thanks for the cache and challenge..

Find #409 logged at GZ at 1:50pm. Went on a cache tour this arvo by bike. I can only imagine the effort trying to keep such a big house clean. No trouble finding GZ and the cache was easy enough to get at with nobody around. T4TC listmaker!

Found with nirgalagrin... now I have my own account.

17:37

After a great time playing in Hay's Paddock, it was time to squeeze in some more caching.

The contrast between this and the last I did of this series on the other side of the river could not be more stark.

We parked up and did some calculation, then took a short walk to GZ, where Miss 12 proudly came up with the prize.

Great hide. Cut nano. Luv the area.

22-Sep-12
After lunch down the road, this cache looked like a nice easy multi plus a stroll to work off the calories. Found the clue at WP1 very easily, while admiring the magnificent old mansion and gardens. The resident dogs seemed happy to see us Wink by barking loudly but luckily nobody seemed to notice. We then headed off to GZ. Even though it was a pleasant sunny afternoon there were no muggles about. The GPSr took us thereabouts and after a bit of a look around I noticed a likely spot. Fortunately I have small hands so I managed to retrieve the little container and sign the log at 2:30pm. TNLN.

Thanks listmaker for the great hide and for showing us this wonderful property. The cleaning and gardening costs must be enormous but I guess they can afford it. We also enjoyed the great city views near GZ. Cool

15-Sep-12
Found on my weekly Saturday caching expedition. Today comprised 15km of tram and walking around the Hawthorn/Riversdale Rd area. The houses in this area blew me away, definitely Tattslotto territory! I enjoyed this pleasant quick multi with a quick find at GZ. Thanks for the cache listmaker.

20-Jul-12
Happy find. Learned how to mke better use of GPS today by tracking my own coords and working out whether I was walking toward or away. My fifth find. Very cute little container.

28-May-12
Steep walk only to find iphone muggle sitting right near where I needed to be. I waited a while but she wasn't moving and had her back to me, so I made a quick search and find without her noticing.

24-May-12
Glad I had a small hand to be able to retrieve this one. No muggles around today. TFTC.

14-Feb-12
I work just down the road. I went and gathered my clues during my lunch break, then after work I headed straight to GZ and found it within 10 minutes. This was my first geocache and I loved it! What a mad game.

I don'y know why we have avoided this one before, but today I was in the area and this seemed straightforward.
At the magnificent house in the pictue I quickly got the required information and was off to GZ. Gee, there's some nice house around here.
At GZ I eventually managed to retrieve and sign the log, I wish I had a young child with me as it would've been easier.
A great bit of history and good hide, thanks listmaker for the cache

Found 12 October 2011 @ 2:08pm
Find #226

Strangely, for a cache relatively so close to my home I had just never gotten around to seeking this one out.

Got to the first WP to gather the clues, and realised that if I had read the cache page before hand I could have worked it out without even stopping off here.

Never the less, a short trip later found to mad as a hatter geoniors running around, without a care for the cache at all, having way too much fun than is healthy (for me!)

Once the GPS got a decent lock the hide quickly revealed itself, was retrieved, signed and quickly returned.

Nap time!

Found at 12.30pm by Mrs80 on a solo mission today. Thought this was a good one to do today having done #3 only yesterday. With the clues quickly retrieved took the short walk to GZ where the cache was easily found but with a bigger hand than some only just managed to retrieve it. SL TFTC

19-Sep-11
Found this one with Irontoad in the first of a successful caching afternoon. Interesting bluestone building and relatively quick find once we had worked out the coordinates. Irontoad said we had got to 0m for WP1 when we were still 290 metres away so I took the GPS from him at this stage! Took nothing, left nothing and signed log.

Thanks for the cache listmaker - the only problem is that it is a nano but otherwise interesting cache and interesting park to end up in too.

18-Sep-11
Found with Kmace. This is a good series Involving interesting homes of the past.

13-Aug-11
For an expensive house it's actually pretty cute. Found this as an essential follow up to Johnny Bodger....
The hide itself is also cute.

16/07/2011 14:28 Found: #561 As I approached GZ, I thought this area looked like a great spot for a hide. Then I saw the GPSr arrow indicating I wasn't the first with that idea. There was a muggle neighbour working just over the fence but I am pretty confident he didn't see me. It was a pretty quick find. I got the hide first and saw how the cache was hidden. I then used the phone- torch to locate the cache itself. Signed the log and used a small twig to pack the hide and ensure the cache was snug inside. TFTC listmaker TNLN SL

Came across this cache while looking at Johnny_Bodger and was interested to see that Johhny forgot to sign the log. Kids enjoyed running around here and also like this little cache. They weren't that impressed by Invergowrie but I was.

17-Jun-11
Really good cache. I found it. TFTC

13-Jun-11
Closest cache to home, so I thought I'd give this a go. I spend ages at the calculated location before I found it. A great second find.

28-May-11
Found this one after a nice lunch at a cafe back up Riversdale rd Gathered the info required without leaving the geomobile and plugged the numbers in and took the laneway option to a quiet little unlic spot that is invisible unless you knew it was here, and I used to live less than 200m away. Found the well camoed cache quickly, left my mark. Thanks to listmaker for a view of a great house and park.

28-Apr-11
Found with Will and Ben, lovely cache, hidden well, love the container, nearly missed it. Brilliant! TFTC. Very Happy

10-Apr-11
New log in the cache, and it's good to go.

03-Apr-11
Thoroughly enjoyed this cache today - such lovely surrounds and a great little container. A really great hide. Thanks listmaker.

03-Apr-11
Unrolled the log and it is completely full.

19-Mar-11
After stopping in at a nearby dog bed sale and buying my very spoilt Scotties a couple of new beds, I decided to cache my way home. I have done some other caches in this series, so when I saw this one not far off the main road on my path, I had to stop. At WP1 there were no witnesses, with the exception of one bored looking dog. His whole presence said "what are you doing you stupid human?" We then ignored each other. I took a stroll down the hill to the cache and after a false start at one tree, where there was a very deep whole, with many spider webs, that I really didn't want to put my hand into, I found the cache. The hide is excellent, the log book is full though. Thanks for the cache listmaker Smile

15-Mar-11
Second to find today. I had to come back as there was a muggle sitting on the bench when I first approached GZ. Cache was found within 5 minutes once I had the place to myself and the GPSr had settled. TFTC, listmaker!

15-Mar-11
Really great way to set up a nano. The little stick on the log is great. TFTC. SL.

07-Oct-10
Met up with Blacklegend17 to do another one of our night cache runs. Couldn't see much of the house at night, nice area though. Got the requird info and headed over to GZ. GPS took a while to settle but eventually a likely hide was spotted and the cache soon in hand. Thanks for the hide.

07-Oct-10
Another night caching run with Marty (Quasar3671) around Melbourne and suburbs. Nice easy multi with a sneaky hide at the final waypoint. I have seen a similar one, which had us searching for over 30mins, so this was a lot quicker. TFTC.

07-Sep-10
Yes, wouldn’t mind this house at all, although, actually the other side of the road has the much better view.
Anyway, found the cache easily, despite the clever hide. Well done, and thanks for this cache.

Find 17/23 for the day, instead of walking down to the clue spot I just figured out the area it had to be in and checked all the spots, took me 5 minutes to find the hide. Don't like the sound of nano's but this one was well made, bit of effort went into it so well done Smile

A lovely property this one.... Even on this rainy afternoon it looked charming, complemented by the wonderful 1980s Aston Martin V8 Vantage which was parked so picturesquely on the front driveway... Picture perfect. Sigh - some people have all the luck (or money I should say).

Then a quick shuffle over to GZ where the cache was spotted straight away.

TFTC. Nice to explore this area which I've only ever driven past before....

Find # 1175 @ 12:40
Wow, wonder what this property would fetch on today's market. Much more than $10 million I would think. Nice area to live but I doubt I could afford the annual rates, let alone the real estate. Nice easy find once at gz. SL Thanks listmaker for the cache.

26-Apr-10
I nice little puzzle and a lovely spot to hide the well-made cache -
nice one! Being Anzac Day holiday - I took the time to read the
nearby monument at which someone had left a wreath - lest we
forget.

nice cache in a nice little area. I was surprised that its been a while since last found, its one of the better ones i've come across. Great hide as well, i can see the effort that went into it.

Found @ 15:15 while out bike riding today. Not only is this a magnificent property but many more I passed on the way. Gathered the clue and off to GZ where the GPSr took a while to steady. I eventually found the the well hiden cache.

I really loved this cache, I enjoyed the history of the building, way out of my league and the final GZ was a great area to visit. I loved the effort that went into the cache container. My thanks to listmaker for a great cache.

10-Nov-09
Lovely houses here. Enjoyed the walk around the area despite the heat.
Nice hide. TFTC.

01-Nov-09
Nice house! I can't imagine living in a place like that. It was quite a contrast from the little place I saw in Collingwood earlier on. There's a lot of grand houses in that area, so I had a little drive around before heading to GZ. The cache was hidden in a nice spot and I liked the hiding method as well. Thanks listmaker.

10-Oct-09
We found our 5th Listmaker cache at 11:30am as the 3rd of 17 on our North Eastern Inner City Suburbs Arc. This was just the most perfect morning to be walking around both the opening WP and the cache. Thanks for the cache from D & HA B-A.

#769. Excellent hide. TNLNSL. TFTC.

13-Sep-09
I had read good things about this cache and thought I would give it a look while in the area today. As I pulled up at the posted coords so too did the owner of the house and I was treated to a better view as the gates opened. I love old homesteads and buildings and was interested to read the history here. After doing my calculations I headed off to GZ where more history was found, so too was the cache in the first place I looked.

Many thanks for this well put together multi,

R - B

10-Sep-09
Once I was at GZ i initially investigated the hide location but was disappointed not to see the cache. Was about to walk away and look elsewhere where it suddenly dawned on me. Very nice cache. TFTC

22-Aug-09
Wow!! How the other half live, looking around the houses in this area, not just at Invergowrie, we feel that if we sold our place we would probably still be unable to even pay the rates for 12 months. This doesn't take away from the great architecture of many of the houses in the area especially this one. After collecting the information we headed off to gz for another hidden surprise. The well hidden cache was found quickly.
Thanks listmaker for a very enjoyable multi

08-Aug-09
Found this one at 15:05 while out and about picking up some things for the bike. Not a bad little shack that one Wink. And, a nice walk to nab the clever hide.

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks listmaker.

03-Aug-09
Found at 12:30PM. I would love to live in a house just as humble as this one. Enjoyed the walk, then the brief search, and the clever [[container]].

31-Jul-09
Stopped by here on my cycle home from work. I must admit that I'd be reasonably happy if I had to live in one of these early mansions!

After grabbing the required digits I rolled down to the GZ and searched by torchlight until I found the very well-constructed & camouflaged cache. Log signed at 18:20.

Nice one - thank you listmaker,

22-Jul-09
This certainly is a magnificent home and with some interesting history along with it. Gathered the info and headed to GZ for a quick find. Thanks for showing me this house, and for the cache.

Humble indeed!
Well worth a bit of a sticky beak but nothing stirring within and I even parked across the driveway to gather my important pieces of information.
Drove a little down the road to save my legs and strolled down the private road to the cache.
Nifty bit of handiwork which works well.
Thanks Listmaker.

King Jnr and Snr - best cache of the day loved the cammo and the history. We are not usually fans of multi micros but really enjoyed this one. Thanks again for our 5th listmaker cache.

01-Jul-09
Nice little walk in my lunch time, seeing it is very cold and windy muggles were no problem. Lovely area to go for a walk and after an easy retrieve continued on to discover the rest of that side of the river. Groovy loos on the other side of the Bridge which look like huge wine caskes. Loved your container, thanks for bringing me to the other side.

28-Jun-09
Find # 2852 and 5th of the day at 3:32 pm. On another afternoon out caching by myself. I left the car at the posted coords and had a enjoyable walk to GZ where I made an easy find, nice work on the container. TNLN, left my mark in the log, Thanx Listmaker....Big Grin

23-Jun-09
The dark is not a great time to see what there is to see but we found the info and the cache so that's what counts I guess. No muggle problems either.
Thanks indeed

23-Jun-09
It was a bit dark when we arrived so we didn't actually see the humble residence, just a lot of fence. Chewin' grabbed the clues, and we headed off to GZ.
Interesting collection of paths and gardens around here, who would have guessed?
At GZ there were a pair of objects, Chewin' picked and I picked the other, his was the better pick, and he had the cache in moments.
Thanks for the intersting spot, Robmc.

I had momentary thoughts of a FTF hunt when this cache was published but thought better of it and that was a good idea as I might have struggled in the dark. Second find today on my solo caching day, a nice house indeed and a pleasant walk to GZ for a quick find.
TNLN
Thanks listmaker

21-Jun-09
Yes, well there were quite a few 'humble' homes around here - this one was beautiful. I found the cache in the first place I looked, without the aid of my GPS, which was confusing me! Liked the container and method, very good. TFTC.

18-Jun-09
I've always thought this the most classy pocket of land in Melbourne - you can keep your Toorak & S Yarra! A nicely set up cache too with a very natty container. Thanks!

14-Jun-09
Found at 5.20pm GAFF1. This is the type of cache that picks us up and revitalises our interest in suburban caches. A fantastic subject, well presented and researched and the hide - just that bit more effort in it's presentation in another lovely spot. Loved it.
As a matter of fact we were so glad that we were in tune with the hiding method as we just had the light of the GPS to search in the fading light and it was found in the first spot we looked in - that's probably another reason we liked it so much!
At the house, a guy rolled up in his blue MG while we were looking at the plaque - we said hello and he rolled into the majestic property - was hoping he would invite us in for some reason!
Thanks listmaker for a great cache,

Found by Bob at 1100

When I first saw this one pop up, I was sure it was going to be at the old 'Tay Cregan' house at nearby Strathcona Girl's School which is also a pretty nice looking place. I used to live in this area a long time ago and spent quite a few hours (push)cycling around the streets with my camera checking out the many gorgeous old houses that abound hereabouts. Anyway, I hadn't visited Invergowrie before, so it was a pleasurable detour on my way to work this morning to check it out. It certainly looks like a very lovely old mansion - but I wish it didn't have that mesh stretched along its front fenceline which meant I couldn't admire it as well as I'd have liked to. The clues were easily picked up and I made a little circuit walk to the cache (down the steep hill private road and back via Burwood Rd). I was most impressed with the handiwork involved with the cache hide and wondered whether Listmaker had picked up the necessary skills at Invergowrie (no, she's too young - but maybe a similar establishment Wink) or whether the Reluctant Spouse had been enlisted to assist! This speculation was also prompted by perusing C&C's list of hints for geocachers and noting that #12 seemed like a hint that has been taken to heart by the cache setter Wink.

Thanks Listmaker - a nice hide in a nice spot!

09-Jun-09
If I had known that this cache was so close to home I would have gone for it much earlier. The house that is the object is indeed well worth the visit - its great. The info was found easily then a short enough walk to gz, where the cache was found after a short search in a very well-done hide. All in all a very good cache and I recommend it to others. Well done and thanks Listmaker. Big Grin

08-Jun-09
My very first *FTF* @ 7:35. A very clever little hide. More to come when I get back to a real computer.

So it was after midnight on this fine Queen's Birthday public holiday, when a new cache notification came through. Having given up the chance for some nearby FTFs lately due to study commitments, I thought that I would at least give this one a go in the late morning. A geocaching 'penpal' in Germany suggested I should go right away, though being not recommended at night, I decided to give it a crack at first light instead.

My GPSr suggested sunrise would be 7:29, so I set the alarm for 6:25. A little over five hours later and I was up before boarding the 6:55 train, as I certainly wasn't pedalling out there in the dark! At 7:20 I was off the train and thankfully it was getting light (it makes a change from trying to find a cache in falling light). I gathered the required information and admired the nice house, then after a short search the cache was in hand at 7:35.

A very crafty piece of camo work I must say. Loved the little park at final GZ as well. Yet to top it all off, several hot air balloons passed by in the distant sky. Searched for a few more nearby cache, had some take away breakfast, then cycled home arriving just after 10am. Thanks listmaker, hope to see you again at another event.

STF at 9:00. Thanks Listmaker for this one -- it's significant to us, as Fairview was too.

Coffee's mother studied good housewifely skills at Invergowrie in its heyday, learning many useful things and some not so useful (making your own soap and hand-sewing undergarments spring to mind!)

The household Time and Motion hints shown should be quite instructive for the modern cacher, but Coffee would like to add one more:

NB Caching househusbands should always make sure all household chores (including home maintenance) are completed to a high domestic standard before setting out on caching expeditions.
