A really, really besutiful place. I am sorry, that we did Not spend longer here but the goal of the Day was the Kings Canyon. That was a Long Drive. Thanks for hiding this EC here.TFTC magicchicken
We loved this location. Perfect place for a morning swim on this hot day. There a whole different perspective of the rocks you get from the other side of the gap. Thanks for the EC
Thank you for this cache I sent out answers via a message to the owner. TFTC!!
Logged with permission. Had a great but short time in the Red Centre. SOme rain the week before and this look very full. A dip of the toes confirmed it was cold which should be no surprise with the ice on the windscreen over night.TFTCA Fav pt
Found this cache whilst on our two month adventure throughout central Australia and remote parts of WA.Continuing our trek along the Mereenie Loop we stopped in here with good intentions for a swim but after dipping a toe that was quickly forgotten. Then 2 bus loads of kids turned up and serenity was gone. We grabbed the required info and sent answers to COThanks to all the COs for adding to our adventure. TFTC
Found with SJG66. Our last Earth Cache for the day, got hear around 5pm. Absolutely stunning with the sun in the background though the gorge. Answers sent.
OCW PelDroedGwin We had towed the caravan past here early in the day but with Levin the geocat and Peppa the geodog in the car we werent able to stop at National Park locations. We dropped the van at our camp for the evening, settled the furry ones, jumped back in the car and headed back to the spots wed missed. Wow ! What a location, such a pretty spot. PelDroedGwin went in for a dip, Ill try it out tomorrow. Answers sent to CO. Have a FP from me.
Target cache for the Sunday adventure.I found out about this place when I saw a advertisement for NT and the photo looked like an oasis .Reverse google image search unveiled this name of the place. A quick search on geocaching and we have an earthcache to find. Left Alice pretty early, about 8:00am.Got out here about 9:30-10:00amwell,there were a few cache stops along the way for the Bug and Co team.I was pleasantly surprised to find people camped out here in their caravans and campers, and probably found the best remote toilet anywhere. I then found a slightly closer place to park and do the short walk to the waterhole.I went about the earthcache business first before testing out the waterhole myself. Took some photos and pretty sure gathered enough data for the EC questions.I only had a quick swimwaded in a little bit and then dunk my head. The water temp was not so bad.Had a lovely chat with a pommy backpacker and exchanged stories and future plans before she also tested out the water.Best place Ive visited so far in the Red Centre.Best cache Ive found in the Red Centre area. Thanks tronador.Answers are forthcoming.**FP of course**
As we travelled from Alice Springs to Ormiston Gorge we found some geocaches. This was our seventh one in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Thanks for setting up this one and as always TFTC, MumDad2000

A bit of technological drama getting this one from the south side but we hope that we are still able to log this with a north side photo! We stopped at Ellery North on day 7 of our larapinta adventure and it was definitely a highlight of the trip with a bit of water in the creek and plenty of bird life around. A cold night, with ice on the tent in the morning. So no, we did not go for a swim here! Another magic spot. What a journey. TFTC
We are slowly heading towards Alice Springs and today we arrive at Ellery creek waterhole. We decided to do a couple of walks. We walked up to the saddle and back and then did the dolomite walk then a very brief dip in the water. There were some kids in canoes that were playing a game of tag or something so it didn't pay to go out to far plus water was a bit chilly.
Wow I am surprised at the old height of the ranges. Thanks for putting this earth cache together

Very nice, we swam through the whole gorge.
Together with my favorite geocacher Milonguera we traveled to Australia We went to Melbourne via Singapore and from there we explore the south, the center and the east coast.
We walked around Melbourne and had a nice meet & greet event. Than we visited Philip Island with the pinguins and the Great Ocean Road. We fed and petted kangaroos visited the koalas and continued north via Coober Pedy to Alice Springs. We hiked around the impressive Uluru and through the beautiful Kata Tjuta and breathtaking Kings Canyon. The gorges of the Macdonell-Ranges are nice to. Than we traveled north.
Weiter gings Richtung Norden.

Thanks for showing the location and for hiding the cache. You should come to Berlin in Germany to find a lot of interesting geocaches, visit lost places in the surrounding Brandenburg and meet nice people at many events.
I wish you a lot of fun and great adventures while searching for the next geocache!**
Ich bedanke mich bei tronador für den Cache, das Zeigen dieses Ortes, das Legen und Pflegen der Dose und den Spaß beim Finden! Thanks for the cache!

Visiting from Brisbane, we used a day to drive the big circle and see a heap of waterholes. This was our first stop (other than geocaches along the way). This would be a popular local spot on a hot summer's day. The turmoils packed swimmers in hope, but after putting fingers in this cold water, they decided to skim rocks instead. All the best skimming rocks were found at the coords we needed to head to.
Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs

nice location. answers have or will be sent via mogni.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Wow what beautiful scenery around these parts! I got some photos but forgot to include myself in a photo at the waterhole and instead got a pic by the Ellery creek sign. Will send answers later this weekend, tftc
This is a very pretty place. We camped here overnight and checked out the Waterhole. I have sent my answers and hope they are OK.
We collected the info for this geocache at the end of a long day exploring the West Mac's. Wish we had had a little more time, we may have even braved a swim (although the water looked freezing). Thanks for taking the time to set up this earth cache so I could learn a little more about the area.
Cruising through the Ranges on the way to Kings Canyon. Hot day and not enough time for a swim! Too much to see.

Three weeks on the road for a family holiday to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon amongst other cool destinations had us traveling all over the place. We had a great time and the weather was extremely hot with bushfires that actually prevented us from going to some destinations.
Today we spent the day exploring Stanley Chasm and Ellery Creek Big Hole. A nice warm day today, and perfect for exploring the Stanley Chasm in the morning and heading to Ellery for a nice refreshing swim in the afternoon.
Thanks for the Earthcache.

*Late log*
I'm late in logging this cache as I was in the NT during February completing a university placement - I was rushed back to Melbourne and didn't get around to logging until now due to all the covid craziness.
This place is beautiful! Local people told me to be careful here - they would not swim there because it 'has bad juju' and just a month earlier a poor man was drowned there. So I went with abundant caution. The water was warm on the surface but increadibly cold just 30cm below. It was great because it was a very hot day! I swam out to the island and sat in the shallows where fish skimmed my legs. I could not see a tourist sign with information so I researched my answers for this cache by asking people I worked with in Alice - I hope they told me the truth about the original height of the range!
So happy there is an earth cache here to mark my visit. I've added a photo of me and my visiting Swedish muggle at the Big Hole and emailed answers to CO. Thanks for the cache!

22 days vacation in Australia, a big round trip around the red continent. Adelaide & Kangaroo Island, Darwin & Kakadu National Park & Yellow Waters, Alice Springs & Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Port Douglas & Rainforest & Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island, Blue Mountains, Sydney - what a trip! It's been great, it's been exhausting, it's given us so many impressions of this country that we'll need another few weeks to process all of these.
Of course there were also a lot of geocaches along our track and we tried to find them whenever they were (more or less ) on our path. Due to the amount of places, impressions and geocaches I'm unfortunately able to write a detailled log for each of them, but we appreciated every single one of them.
Thanks tronador for placing and maintaining this cache!

As usual, with responsibilities caring for grand children and elderly parents, we still can not take the time we would really like to explore this great land of ours so yet again it is mostly an express trip through some terrific locations.

During our great roadtrip through Australia we spent a great day out in the West MacDonnell Range and found a lot of caches. This was one of them.
Usually the Navi-she-cat takes a swim at places like this - but today she had to keep a wound dry, so we both stayed out of the pool, solved this earthcache and had fun watching amazing lizards.

I visited this cache together with B.F.Pierce during our wonderful vacation in Australia. We drove four weeks with a camper van through this amazing country from Alice Springs to Sydney. We enjoyed the great people, wildlife and countryside so much. Thank you for the great cache! Best regards from Germany!
Erin1405 and I did a round trip from Alice Springs down South along the coast and ended up in Sydney. We had a marvellous time on this amazing continent viewing a lot of new and beautiful impressions. Of course we searced and found some caches just like that one. Thanks a lot for hiding and many greetings from Germany.

After spending four days travelling up on my own from Adelaide, I met up with FeatherWaite in Alice Springs for a few days of travelling around and caching.
We visited various places in the West Macdonnells, including Hugh Gorge, then went out to Kings Canyon, up the Finke Gorge track to Hermannsburg, into Palm Valley, then back to Adelaide, taking a week in all. We saw, and camped in some fantastic places, although the late September weather was a little warm!
I had previously visited the West Macdonnells and some of the other areas about five years ago and enjoyed a swim here last time. But not today.
Thanks tronador for the earthcache in such a beautiful area!

Easily one of the most beautiful spots along the West Mac Range, and one we'll definitely be returning to in the future. Great information about how it was all formed, too. TFTEC.

I wandered around as usual and grabbed the required information. I was surprised to see an earthcache hidden by the CO all the way out here. Our answers have been sent by the message centre.

So beautiful out here, but that water was so so cold. After reading the cache description and seeing others quickly get in the water and out I had to dip my fingers in it to find out for myself. I would describe as fridge cold water, no way was I going for a swim.

Last night we camped in the middle of nowhere. It reminded me a bit of backpacking trips taken in the mountains close to home. We went for up to a week, living with only what could be carried in your backpack. This experience was a bit easier as we had a vehicle with supplies.
Today was another day of visiting some more remote sites and doing the related earthcaches.
I started my travels with micaparamedic in Canada and the US in late July, seeing the Yukon and Northwest Territories, attending the Mega APE event, and camping in Oregon to be in the direct path of a total solar eclipse. There were other day trips to find special caches and see geologically related spots of interest.
Now he is showing me his country, and it's an incredible journey. My bucket list had included walking around Uluru, and now I can cross that off. I also wanted to see some Australian outback, and that is also crossed off. There are a few more things planned on this journey that will be crossed off as well. Dreams are coming true.
This is such a serene location. I could have simply sat there for hours. However, there were more things to do and see, so I'll simply hold onto the memories.
Thanks for bringing us to this great place.

Spent a day traveling along this range seeing some of the sites. This place was first of our list. Very tranquil first thing in the morning. TFTC.
Day 4 or 5 of my adventurous drive from Melbourne to Kata Tjuta and Uluru - solo. I broke the drive up into a few days and cached along the way. I really loved every minute of my journey, minus about 2 hours when I blew a tire!
Thanks for adding to the adventure whilst visiting for 2 months from Canada.

DieFraudiemitmuss, Lundi263, Murri24 and I made this year a very great tour together. Our first target is Melbourne. So we started early in the morning to visit the city and to make a few geocaches. We found very nice locations and interesting spots. One day we rent a car. Very early in the morning we drive from Melbourne City over Geelong to the Great Ocean Road. Along this road we found so much interesting spots, we see a great landscape, and had have not enough time for sightseeing. The weather was fine but a little bit windy. This day was very long and hard, but wonderful.
After that we visit the Grampians. A little bit rain, a little bit windy and a little bit sunny day, we had fasten all weathers. We visit waterfalls, canyons, sandstone fomations and any Look Outs. Puhhh, what a great landscape.
The next part of our journey is to explore the Outback. From Ayers Rock we take a car an drive over Kings Canyon and many other Look Outs to Alice Springs. The first step, after landing from Melbourne, taking the rent car and check in at the hotel, was the visit from Kata Tjuta. It is very spectacular here. We do some walking trips to look outs and finally we saw the sunset. Amazing!!!
The second day in the Outback: We go to Uluru and Kings Canyon.
Today we go from Kings Canyon resort to Alice Springs. We visit any Gorges, Gaps and other wonderful location. Everywhere you can stay a long time, but the way is long and so we must go on. What a great landscape here.
This Cache was one of my favorite Caches, wich I would visit at the Outback. Thank you very much for showing. This theme was very interesting. I have learned a lot over the australian geology.

Together with Team "GER-17" (consisting of murri24, der Eifelaner & dieFraudiemitmuss and me) I visited this location on our second day in the Outback.
We were travelling around with a rental car (4x4 of course ) and were able to see so many interesting & beautiful locations & lots of wildlife (wild kangaroos, wild horses and so ob).
This was already my second visit to the Red Centre of Australia. Let's see if I can make it a third time in few years.
The answers were already sent by "der Eifelaner" and are hopefully ok.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful location and it was a most enjoyable experience indeed. Although I wasn't brave enough to go for a swim, others seemed to be enjoying themselves that had ventured in, way too cold for me. Highly recommend this as a top place to visit and a favorite point from me.

Wow, what a fabulous day today. Pa spoilt me rotten by driving me around the 427 km loop from Alice to Glen Helen to Goss Bluff and back via Hermansburg. It was a long day - over 11 hours, but we were both very relaxed and took our time, especially at gorges and lookouts.
The scenery was mind blowing, the company exemplary and the food at both Glen Helen and Hermansburg was to die for. Pa wanted to see Goss Bluff and I wanted to grab as many caches as I could. Earth and Puzzle caches were my priority and they didn't let me down. Only had 2 DNFs during the day and they were both traditional caches.
A special thanks to the COs of the puzzle/mystery caches. I love those that I can work out by myself and learning from others at the Red Centre Experience how to solve those that I have never encountered before.
Thanks for placing these caches for us to find.

There is a big hole here
And it is a beautiful spot to visit
Especially if you like diving into unexpectedly cold water [:o)]
Which I did not
I was here purely for the geological aspects [^]
And after a bit of a stroll around on two separate visits,
I think me answers for this Earthcache might just pass muster

Found while in Alice Springs for the biggest geocaching event held in Australia to date, Mega style without the tag. (and some people wonder why the geocaching membership numbers are decreasing!!!)
Today my Shatzy and I went out on a scenic tour of the West Mac ranges and found a few caches along the way. This was another great find while out and about. Answers sent to cache owner. Thanks for placing this cache for us to learn more about the area.

Our fifth find for day one of a mad dash adventure to Uluru via Ellery Rockhole, Glen Helen, Gross Bluff, Kings Canyon etc with the Roddy C's, Rothy 6 and Patrol 14. We covered some ground, saw some amazing places and had fun along the way. Thank you to all the CO's for the effort in putting caches out here and for sharing this wonderful area with us.
