A little over 10 years, appears some locals may have found the hiding spot, farewell old friend

18-Aug-19
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

18-Aug-19
Have to agree with the previous searchers - there is no cache to be found at GZ. Had a previous finder with me to check too.

11-May-19
Looks like the hiding spot has been stump ripped

19-Apr-19
Unfortunately a DNF. I’m sure the coords are correct. I’ll hopefully come back another day.

14-Jul-18
An early start today and was keen to check out this multi.

Bit of a tricky start with the sign and took a lot longer than expected trying to work numbers. Got something wrong, recalculated and eventually got something that looked right.

Thankfully it was the right GZ and cache was out in the open but undamaged.

A nice start to the morning, thanks!

Enjoyed a short stroll around Rokewood. Tftc. Found with Zoe.

I always like to find the time to chase a multi-cache Smile
Sure they take a bit longer,
but the rewards are usually greater.
Like here in Rokewood,
where I spent some quality caching time exploring this hamlet Big Grin

That church is an architectural beauty Smile
Needs more stained glass though Wink
The other stops on the trail were easily located,
and the clues sorted.

A stroll through the churchyard took me to another hidden bit of the towne,
which few travelers would ever discover.
So in a peaceful spot,
I soon found the cache and signed the logbook Big Grin

TFTC and exploration.

We had spent last night in Portarlington on a one-night getaway, so now it was time to cache our way home.

This was a really nice little stopover and leg stretch. We enjoyed being taken around this little park and also to GZ. A well put together multi. Thank you vp4.

01-May-17
I have slipped through here many times but never stopped. What an amazing park - thanks for placing such a great multi here so we could find out more about this little town. Loved it - a fav from me. TFTC

01-May-17
Thoroughly enjoyed this multi. We did question one of the way points but went with what we thought. Loved the seat with mosaic tiles. Nice area at GZ too. TFTC

26-Mar-17
Enjoyed a stroll around the area gathering the required numbers and then after a little calculations l made my way to the final gz and managed a quick find. Thanks vp4 for the simple little multi, l like them like that and the hide.

12-Mar-17
A dnf for me Sad pretty sure I had the right coords. I thought maybe the cliff had collapse so I went down to the creek and found a bee hive so skedaddled.

11-Mar-17
DNF for me today. Enjoyed the stroll around Rokewood, and I'm pretty sure the coords I deduced were correct, but sadly no cache at the location. I thought maybe the cliff had given way and went down to investigate, but alas, found my second beehive for the day and skedaddled.

05-Mar-17
Enjoyed the short stroll around Rokewood. Collected the onformation, did the sums and then a pleasant stroll alonf the trail, leading to a quick find. A fav point for this Thanks vo4

11-Feb-17
Found on yet another trip to Apollo Bay. Today we had a bit of time up our sleeve so we made the stop to do this nice little Multi. I swear the local Cop thought I was a bit suss wandering around the park looking at random things, taking notes, looking at my GPS and taking more notes. Once I had all the details it was back to the car to crunch the coords and short walk with the rest of the family to the GZ. This was a pleasant little multi and a great way to break up our trip. Thanks for yet another geocache VP4.

03-Feb-17
After a spur of the moment trip to Enfield for a joint FTF adventure in the company of Na'wal and DAB , we headed on through Rokewood as we made the journey home to Geelong. Noticing a multi in the town as unfound we soon set about finding the clues. We had a couple of issues but Na'wal soon set as straight before finding the well hidden container at GZ. The highlight for us tonight was definitely the magnificent church lit up like "Luna Park", standing grandly overlooking the small town.
**Thanks vp4 for highlighting Rokewood and for the cache.**

03-Feb-17
After finding some newer caches in the Enfield Forest, we thought we would grab a few more hides on the way home. Even though it was dark by now, we had torches to light the way. An enjoyable evening stroll through this pretty little town. I think someone, or something had left its scent on the container. My fingers had a funky smell on them from handling the cache. TFTC vp4 Big Grin

with the river still in flood we continued on holidays so more Caching time.

Now we have wandered from Anglesea to Mt Gambier Adelaide and back to Geelong now to Alexander onto Euroa and beyond we have found many other like minded people so the caching adventure grows stronger.
As we came through this area we met up with Roosterman and joined in with the rebel act to do the caches in this area had a great couple of days doing the tour.
Thanks vp4 for putting this cache out for us to find

22-Nov-16
Rokewood is a place that, in our pre-caching years, we would just have passed through, not noticing much more than a few derelict houses and maybe the fact that there is a park and a church. Luckily, we do cache, and we love being guided in our travels by like-minded people.
The vulture was here recently on his way home from a very tiring 3-day course. He started finding some clues but missed a few and decided to return when he is less tired. Today we both came, enjoyed the many aspects of a very neat roadside park, some history and, the highlight of this place in suss' eyes, the beautiful church with its ageing timber hall in the background. The required information was soon gathered and GZ quickly found.
Thank you for being our travel guide, vp4!

16-Nov-16
As we were driving toward Rokewood I commented how we use to navigate using paper maps, often taking a wrong turn and maybe going a long way out of the way. Today even with 2 GPS units we managed to take the long way (I'm not actually admitting to taking a wrong turn, just a different way.)
Our friend vividrogers has got herself a little lost using her TomTom and I may have teased her about it. Don't let her know I have now done it too. That can be our secret!

We bought icecreams from the friendly man in the only shop in town and enjoyed them as we collected the information for this multi. Nice stroll to GZ.
Back in the car, hmm which way to Ballarat?

I was on the road today driving to Adelaide from Melbourne. I am not sure how or why my GPS had me drive through Rokewood but I was thankful for the public toilets. Stretching my legs, I wondered whether there were any caches nearby and this wonderful multi popped up. I needed a break despite my schedule to be across the SA border before it got too late. I grabbed a pen & paper and got to work to find the clues. Loved the tiles and especially enjoyed the opportunity to look at the architecture of the church.

In short order, I got all the numbers I needed and plugged them into my phone. Had the final GZ, enjoyed the short walk and found the cache without any issues. The area was muggle free so after a quick sign, replaced and returned to my car. Thanks for the exercise and cache!

Wonderful history lesson of this town. The tile seat is so awesome. Thanks for the lessons and the cache

**Big Grin Smile # *3885* / Multi # *204* Big Grin**

After a successful day in and around Ballarat collecting some puzzles, I made the long way home detour to find a few more. The day was pre planned a number of weeks ago but when I looked at the weather for Friday a few days ago, I was very worried. Oh well, it won't stop me. The morning was nice and mild until the sun came up and then the rain started. I had a little help on some of the puzzles and others I was able to solve myself.

My last cache on my big day out. The rain decided to start pouring down just as I finished with the numbers. I decided to run for it. After a few checks at different spots with the GPSr a little jumpy, I found this cache tucked away. Signed and returned as found.

**Thanks for this multi cache, vp4** [^]
**Cache container and log good in good condition**
**Took Nothing, Left signature**

Found It...Found this one on a return journey from Ballarat with Robynonthego to turn some more little green boxes into smiley's so after pulling up we set to get the required info and after a while we worked out a set of coords but they where miles away so with the error realised another set soon appeared so we set off getting to GZ the first thing we touched reveled the cache so with the log signed we decided to call it a day as we had finished with nearly 25. Thanks vp4 for the cache

07-Sep-15
Very interesting history and a nice stroll

04-Sep-15
After collecting all the info we needed and calculations done we took a stroll to the cache. Then it was back and across the road for some lunch. Really enjoyed this little multi so we are adding it to our favourites. SL Took GC TFTC

Objects were counted and years made bote of before some quick maths

Luckilymy maths was spot on today and cache was found quickly

Left behind a TB coin that I have held on to for a little to long

18-Jul-15
Had geokids help gather the co-ords then a nice little stroll along the creek.

18-Jul-15
This cache was our aim today, picking up a few others on the way to this was a bonus! After finishing our lunch (souvlaki from across the road was pretty good!) we tackled the questions and enjoyed a little walk

01-Apr-15
Cache zombified.
A great excuse to stretch our legs on the way back from the Otways. Enjoyed exploring the area and finding a good cache. Cache in good order.
Tftc from ZombieCats.

14-Mar-15
Stopped for a break in Rokewood after attending Pi Day event in Ballarat.Great multi and loved the walk along the river, which I didn't know was there. A favourite point from me. TFTC. Left milkshake eraser.

13-Feb-15
I perfect multi, interesting locations, answers easy to find and a range of mathematical calculations to find final co-ords. GZ in unexpected location but co-oords made for an easy find. Thanks vp4.

10-Feb-15
After having no luck on a nearby multi I came into town to grab a cold drink [or 2] and possibly even a smiley seeing as it's my day off and already 3pm.
1st find of the day.
Nice little area and easy enough maths for even me to complete.
Small stroll to ground zero and back to the Geo vehicle for more beverage.
Quick discovery at GZ.
TNLN, SL
Cheers & T.F.T.C =]
Safe travels and hoppy caching!

Thanks for the cache cool multi nice stroll. Cache was a bit in the open so we covered it. Found with Westall0299 and McLookers.

11-Mar-14
After taking longer than I should at a previous cache down the road, I arrived in town in time for lunch which I ate in between wandering to various points of interest and collecting information and taking some snaps of the next bluestone edifice.
As I wandered back to finish the calculations out of the sun in the Geo6E, I glanced across and thought...I wonder if it's over there...
Finished the calculations, followed my nose and yep! It was over there. After a short wander and a quick search I had this lonely little cache which hadn't been found for quite some months in hand and signed the log.
Thanks vp4 for my next history lesson! My favourite subject Big Grin!

Every second weekend I drive through Rokewood, and have been meaning to do this cache for ages. For whatever reasons I have always put if off until later, but today I was determined to cross it off my list. Thanks for the lovely walk - this creek is very beautiful. In summer months I recommend the swimming hole just around the corner!

03-May-13
FINALLY.....but a great way to learn about a twon & its history. TFTC

25-Apr-13
Rokewood on ANZAC Day -- flowers on the memorial, the lads across the street drowning their memories. Still they were happy in their pursuits and not looking our way, so we were off gathering clues -- John collecting and Jinky on "quality control" ie did you count right! The answer was yes, and we took a bean, and left a geonickel! SL, TFTC!

10-Dec-12
Could be difficult with bad reception. Good fun though, nice walk!

15-Nov-12
Visited today, although overgrown with spring growth the cache is still there

11-Nov-12
Tried doing this one at the end of the day and made a mistake with the cords. Will be back to beat it!

29-Jul-12
Enjoyed the multi and the time spent in Rokewood. Took Moosetash's pathtag.

Otherwise TNLNSL TFTC vp4

07-Jul-12
We travel through Rokewood a lot but never stop. Today, we decided to stop. We are glad we did. It was a lovely stroll around the town. We bungled the co-ords the first time but once we re-checked, we were off again. We found the cache, well hidden but it was approx 20m from the co-ords. Took snake, left $2 coin. A lovely day for a bit of exploration. Thanks.

28-Jun-12
Find #927 @ 1505 Hrs. A cold, windy afternoon on the way through to Warrnambool for a couple of family birthdays... A quick detour & the cache was soon in hand...

A nice straight forward Multi...Cool The old church is fantastic! Enjoyed reading about the history of the area & a pleasant stroll around the area...

Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing

Thanks vp4 for bringing me here...

*Cache Condition ~ Fine Smile

03-Mar-12
Enjoyable stroll around a nice little village and find a cache less visited. They have gone to considerable effort to provide something for travellers and it would be nice if all visitors patronised the shop on the way through, leaving a few dollars in the town. TFTC.

11-Dec-11
Haven't been to Rokewood in years, so this cache was a good chance to stop and have a look around. A nice, unambiguous multi, provided one reads the description properly! Thanks for showing us around vp4. Tftc, tn l: pathtag.

03-Nov-11
This was a nice easy little multi in an interesting main street.
The walk to the cache was nice too and we found the co-ords to be spot on.
Thanks vp4

03-Nov-11
Found with Mum & Dad.
I liked this one it was fun.
I got to run around and play.
Thanks vp4

01-Aug-11
The cache seems to have wandered a little bit but since it seems happy where it is I will re-work the figures to reflect its actual postion

17-Jul-11
Point taken, maybe it has been cache creeped, or maybe some information has changed. I'll check it out in the not too distant future

17-Jul-11
Just a thought! The GZ for this cache is about 15-16m north west of where the cache is located.

Whilst it seems that most cachers have been able to locate the cache, given that it is a multi with the inherent possibility of incorrect answers, combined with no method of checking the final result, we wonder if it shouldn't receive some maintenance?

Either the co-ords calculations should be adjusted to bring them to within 5m of the cache location or the cache should be moved to the GZ where there is a possible hiding spot..

We made a great start on this multi but with one piece of information eluding us we consulted with the locals. Retracing out steps, we were soon doing the sums and off to wards GZ. Like others before us we found the cache 15m from the calculated co'ords.

TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt vp4

05-Jul-11
Found while travelling up to Ballarat to stay and find cache's up in Ballarat with Packafattys. TFTC

13-Jun-11
I wish we had read previous finders logs first as we were also about 12m out.
this was our second attempt at this cache, but this time we weren't giving up, just widening the search...I found it!
I went to rokewood primary school so I feel like I should be able to find a cache here!!

09-May-11
Back in Rokewood to check on the whereabouts of the Red Ant Stamp as I got out of the ute I found the stamp tucked inside my jumper so all was well.

The ageing Bushfire had gathered all the required info (loved the tiles) and wandered off to GZ for a bit of a hunt as the cache was a little outside of my co-ords but after a while with the search circle widened there it was.

Near one of the trees a rabbit bolted out of his hide and frightened the daylights out of me, but better than a snake.

This makes two multi’s so far today so only two to go, thanks guys for the effort in placing these caches.

23-Apr-11
Got the clue part sorted out in decent time, but had trouble at GZ as the coords were about 12 metres out. I'd read the clue though, so there was only so many spots that the cache could be hidden.

26-Jan-11
Cache number 6 this morning for Suscoe.
Had coffee first and then the Ballarat car club arrived, what an amazing sight with so many cars.
We did the stroll and enjoyed collecting the numbers, looking at the shining cars of all eras and types.
Headed off to GZ and did a few laps before finding the cache well hidden and dry.
TNLN
Thanks to vp4 for this interesting multi.

09-Jul-10
A quick stroll around the park as it was a bit chilly today. Did the maths and avoided the bus of party goers that arrivied as i left for GZ.

TFTC.

20-Apr-10
802. Found after apleasant stroll around and a short History lesson of the Area. Did the math Located the cache, Signed Log 10am. vp4 - TFTC

17-Apr-10
Went for a bit of a drive to pick this one up after an earlier visit to gather the necessary information but too dark to explore GZ. A beautiful afternoon sunny with a rising breeze with no muggles about but many painted ladies playing in the eucalypts in the dry river bed. TNLN TFTC and the interesting tour of Rokewood vp4

09-Apr-10
Found this afternoon at 4pm. Very quiet here today in the rain. Protected the cache inside my coat whilst signing the log and checking out the cache. Did the clues on a previous visit and enjoyed this part of the find. Took a bit of time to find cache today. So many suitable trees to choose from. Had almost given up when I found GZ. Good to have this one in the bag at last. Took the Geocoin and will be able to move it on interstate on Monday. Thanks vp4.

25-Feb-10
We stopped to have lunch and grab the cache on our way through to the beach!
We thought we had the maths right, but unfortunately we couldn't find the goods.
And this from someone who went to school here!! Red Face
Next time!

06-Jan-10
Found by Mary & David at 2040. Another place we have always driven through without stopping. We can now confidently say we've 'done' Rokewood. A very interesting summary of the district. Dropped off 'Midwest Geobash 2008 Geocoin' replica. Our thanks to vp4 once more.

07-Dec-09
Thanks vp4 for another intersting cache that gave me reason to micro observe this intersting little park. I stayed in Rokewood as part of the 2008 Great Victorian Bike Ride (3,500 riders). Main Street was a lot quieter today.

03-Nov-09
We had quite a pleasant little stroll through this area, we particularly liked the ripper as it was the first one of it's kind that we have seen. After collecting all the required information we went for a pleasant walk to gz where the GPSr led us directly to the cache
Thanks vp4 for an interesting multi

13-Sep-09
As Feathertop said, we were very lucky with the tiled seat and the Muggles. The multi was a nice walk around the park, collecting bits of information as we went. Luckily GZ was out of sight of the busy main street.
We went back and had some lunch before we moved on.
Thanks, Robmc.

13-Sep-09
It was quite cold and breezy when we arrived here at lunchtime.
We fortuitously gathered the tile clues or almost all of them before a family plonked themselves here for their lunch.
We soon had enough info to go for the final which was soon found.
We both thought the multi was clear and unambiguous making for a nice look at this park.
Lunch was gathered from the only place in town open and we enjoyed it on the now vacated tiled seats.
Thanks to vp4.

22-Jul-09
Found today at 1415hrs on this wet day. A little from where the GPS was pointing. A good little cache in a town I have never bothered stoppint at except for a quick pit stop.
Took TB left nil

18-Jul-09
Dropped in today to check all was o.k. Also swapped a geocoin for a TB.

17-Jul-09
dropped in today and loved the little park with all the info, especially the tiles. Off to GZ and found a very obvious spot but no cache. Will email owner to check I was in the right spot.

16-Jul-09
Found 2day on the way home with lennyboy and margie, stopped here a while ago and checked out the lagoon, nice town with lots to see. Thanks.

14-Jun-09
When I started out on this I was a little worried that it was going to require some convoluted maths, but I needn't have worried.

It was a mild Sunday morning, much nicer than yesterday, and quite pleasant wandering around. Out at GZ I found what I thought was the obvious hide, only to be disappointed. It took me another ten minutes to find the cache.

Dropped in a coin and grabbed a TB.

Thanks for brining me here.

12-Jun-09
Second cache this morning with beanie and another first to find Luck must be with us today
Tooka travel bug and dropped off a travel bug and a yowie
