The best part of ADHD (currently unmedicated due to worldwide shortage) is that every day is a new day. The worst part of ADHD is that every day is a new day!! I've been doing this for long enough now to read the description before I go. But ohhhh nooooo. There's a multi on the map, I'll just nip down to Riddell......... I opted for the mtb today because I have a very angry achilles tendon in my left leg but the bike was abandoned. Why push it all the way up when I have neither the skill, courage or confidence to ride it back down......... with my achilles screaming bitterly I reached WP1 but a trillion march flies were lying in wait!! I looked around for ages & messaged the CO. I started to walk away, knowing that I probably wouldn't be back for a very long time. And in one moment of scottish thron, the container was in hand....... I had issues with most of the WPs but spread my search area & eventually plodded onwards. My ankle was not happy & the march flies were insistent on my sweet blood - even through clothing. Now I'll need to explain my foolishness to my osteo!! I appreciate the time & effort afforded by the CO here. It certainly was a mother of a cache. Many thanks

Log book replaced and drainage added to the container. Also picked up the travelbug to move it along.

I had been planning a *big day* caching to increase my count of Large Caches for a couple of challenges I am working on... but the weather forecast wasn't encouraging so I made a rather late start. That meant a change of plans... and I changed my focus to this *big cache*.

And so it was I set off on a pleasant stroll through the bush in my quest for WP1... and, as anybody who has completed this cache knows, after a while that pleasant stroll became a strenuous walk as I approached the end of the 4WD track. Wandering the last few hundred metres along various geotrails wasn't that difficult... although you did have to watch which one you took. Eventually I arrived at the end of my walk and quickly found WP1. Aha, the coordinates for another waypoint... hmm, I wonder how many there are? No clues in the description... and no clues given here either!

So now it was just a matter of following the new coordinates to next location... until finally, the location was a lovely big cache. Sadly the contents were rather wet because the lid had come off the drum... and the log book was barely usable although somehow I managed to scratch my name in it. I also left a Trackable that I have been carrying around for a bit too long... hopefully it won't stay here for too long.

Thanks **SamCarter** for a great excuse for going for a stroll in the bush!

Very sneaky ones stumped us but got there in the end

Some of these were kind of tricky to find! But got there eventually

DAB and I were only to happy to distance ourselves today with a small geocaching trip out ot make a few finds. The day was a nice one and we set off with a few things on board, some tunes on the radio and plenty of laughs were had.

With our 4WD taking us as close as we could, we parked and went on foot. We weren't expecting to be finding lots out here today but after multiple waypoints, we finally made our way to the large prize here that had a bit of unlived on it. No drive by numbers here, just a nice hike out in the bush to find a nice cache DT that is now loved again. 34 finds in almost 11 years.

**Many thanks to SamCarter for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

22-Mar-20
With a bit of spare time today, a couple of geocaches was just what the doctor ordered. Na'wal and myself headed out to grab some decent D/T hides. The cooler weather was perfect for all of the hiking we did today.

We were lucky today, as the 4wd got us to the top parking area. That saved a bit of walking and it was certainly bumpy for the last section !! After parking, we headed of on foot towards WP1. Not having a trail to follow, we weren't sure what to expect. Surprisingly it was quite a pleasant walk and we were at the waypoint in no time.

Grabbed the co-ords and then headed off to the next.... and the next.... and the next... etc.. We were not expecting so many waypoints to this multi. But it wasn't bad, there wasn't a huge distance between them. After finally getting to GZ, a huge prize was our reward. This hide is now loved again !! The container for WP2 needs some TLC, as the lid is virtually non existent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stroll in the bush. Much more rewarding than 100 park and grabs !! TFTC SamCarter Big Grin

First off, we didn't park at the recommended parking spot, we hiked it in from the nearby Rowallan camp. It was a bash up a path from Kent Road. It took sometime with some of them struggling a little up the steep hill. Finally at the top and after some happy snaps they set about finding the first WP. Given there was ten of us, it didn't take long to make the find. This gave them a little incentive on the hike, so we headed down and began the search for WP2.

At each WP, we had everyone searching. This certainly made it easy, but the hides were not too hard to find. Only a couple had us looking for more than a couple of minutes before we found the hide. The final GZ was another that was spot on. We found the large cache which they all went through as there was a few items of interested.

We signed the log and it was time to walk north to parking WP, and then all the way back around to Rowallan. A long walk, but enjoyable on a lovely day weather wise. All up, the round trip was 14km. Thanks so much for the cache.

Out and about in my old hometown of Riddle - and never once had I ever been to the top of Mt Charlie!

Well, today was the day and i decided to head up with my sister Mia and check this cache out. Drove most of the way, then the sliught bush bash enroute along the ridgeline. The theme soon become evidence and the large cache was eventually encountered.

A lot of work has gone into this cache, a fave from me, thanks!

Found by Aussie Train Driver 04/11/2017, find number 1169.
Found this cache whilst out for an afternoon walk with the family today. We hadn't walked Mount Charlie for several years, and with an unfound cache at the top I had sufficient motivation to scale the mountain again.
At the trail junction at the end of the road we saw what looked to be a rough track heading towards the cache, we were able to mostly follow it for the first half of the walk before it disappeared altogether. I'm guessing it was more obvious when this cache was placed but has since been reclaimed by nature!
Found WP1 easily enough and also found a geocoin in the container which has been logged as missing since 2012!
Most of the other waypoints were easy enough to find. Unfortunately the lid of the container at WP2 cracked as I was opening it so I placed the container back upside down to prevent any water getting into the cache.
WP4 caused me some issues, the GPS was jumping around and I searched for a good 10 minutes before finding the cache about 6m from where my GPS was pointing.
All the other waypoints were easy to find and I soon uncovered a monster cache at the end of the trail which was well stocked with goodies. My thanks to SamCarter for a great adventure!

Apologies for the delay in getting maintenance done but it is now a 1300km round trip! I have replaced the entire final cache. The new lid still isn't great but the inside is now a bit more waterproof (I hope) and there are some drainage holes in case of water ingress. Thanks to my muggle friend David for the lift and company for the last 150km of the journey.

Crackers and I had a great time working through this Multi, thanks for the effort you have put into this cache.

27-Jan-17
The lid of the container is broken letting water in. Contents quite damp and original logbook wet and slimy. A previous finder supplied a replacement logbook which is nice and dry (well played). Needs a new container and a good dry out. Still well worth the effort. Thanks

Out today with Ed from 2beez while the girls earn a living. This is probably one of the better multis we've done (how big do these containers get). Awesome effort and a lot of laughs wondering when it would end. Drove to the end of the track and walked the last 500m to the top. Well done to eveyone who walked the whole thing, brilliant effort. Definitely a favourite point for the effort that went into placing this. The lid of the container is broken letting water in. Contents quite damp and original logbook wet and slimy. A previous finder supplied a replacement logbook which is nice and dry (well played).Again thanks for giving us all a reason to explore these areas.

I did this one today in the mid morning heat. I drank almost 3 litres of water from my camelback just to stay hydrated.

What can I say? Brilliant cache and a big thankyou for the cache owner Sam.

This one cache is easily worth 10 of many thay I have done. It is a shame that more people don't make the effort to do it, especially when the CO has put in so much time and money into it.

Bring good sturdy footwear, they're needed. Smile

Wow, This is the best Multi I've done, This is how Geocaching should be. Weather was perfect. Not another sole to be seen. Just me, The Bush, the cache, and a Wallaby. Thanks for bringing me here, a Favorite. Thanks SamCarter for a brilliant Cache. TFTC.

I was trying to pinpoint some unloved caches the other day in different parts of the state (given that anything in Melbourne is found within 6 months as a rule) when I came across this cache.
I had it on my to do list for a good few weeks and with the Easter break I thought I might seek it out. I love doing old multi-caches. Generally the CO has put a lot of thought into placement and wants you to have a good time and an interesting journey.
So it turned out with this cache. I set out from the S.E. suburbs of Melbourne at about 1.30pm and wondered whether I'd be able to complete it before dark. I thought even if I didn't I'd still summit Mount Charlie and work my way back down thus ensuring the work in getting up there wasn't in vain.
Well, I just made it and can report that not only are the waypoint containers in good condition but the cache container is mostly intact. It looks like the lid has warped but the contents (and of course the logbook) are in almost perfect order. I say almost because one of the bags was unsealed and had thus taken on some water. I dried it out as best I could and repacked everything back in the container.
It might not surprise the CO that the last finder was not the one cache armchair wonder but rather CrackCrocCrew back in late December 2014. This is a worthy adventure, especially for those carrying a bit more than they should (cough, cough) which just makes the unlove all the sweeter.
Thanks for the adventure SamCarter. I would definitely have never visited the reserve but for your efforts.
TNLNSL and visited a couple of personal TBs for the kms.

Found today - probably our last one for 2014 and a splendid finale! We (mostly) enjoyed 4WDing and scrambling over Mt Charlie, though our youngest member was trying to "vote" for returning home fairly early in proceedings (and wanted to give the dog a vote also)!!

02-Oct-14
On the "to do" list for ages. Finally decided to do it and really enjoyed a couple of hours bush bashing finding waypoints leading to one of the most well stocked caches we have found. It was hard yakka at times but overall we had fun. The lid of GZ has become brittle and needs replacing. Big Grin

Fire threat appears to have passed, and so am re-enabling. To the best of my knowledge the area of this cache was not affected.

10-Feb-14
There are currently fires in the area, and it seems wisest to disable this until the fire threat is over. Safe caching everyone.

17-Nov-13
Lots of fun going up and down the mountain, exploring off the beaten track and finding each cache was easy enough even without hints. Still in good condition and very well stocked.

20-Sep-13
This cache was a good excuse to explore Mt. Charlie. I started quite late but made it before sunset. Nice area and pretty deserted on a Friday afternoon.
There seems to be dieback disease present in the reserve so if you love the bush please clean your shoes after walking around this area to prevent it from spreading (methylated spirits recommended).

This cache was found during a Monday night cache run with Blacklegend, Trailrunning and Rebel Acts (TDC). The weather outlook for the night was not good but although it was bitterly cold the rain did hold off for us. After finding a few city metro caches we headed north of the city for a bit of rural caching, making our way through Broadford, Kilmore and Romsey. We had a fun night with a nice variety of cache hides found. Thanks for the cache.
A very challenging cache to do towards the end of a long night. We managed to drive not too far from the junction and then it was on foot up the hill / mountain. It was quite steep and rocky and we thought that was the hard part. Now to make it to WP1. In the dark it was quite a challenge, even just to find a starting point into the buch land. The way to WP1 was half bush bashing and half following barely existant animal paths, weaving in and out of trees and rocks and bushes. We finally made it and found the first clue and the adventure continued on till we found the final rather large cache. A fantastic and challenging multi and we had no troubles finding each of the WP hides and a favourite for me.
As we made our way back to the cars spooky things began to occur; torches started to die including one of my torches suddenly went dead, my iphone went dead and my remote key for my car didn't work. Also it sounded like dogs were following us in the bush as well. Even wierder was when we drove back to the main car park my iphone suddenly sprung to life with over 30% charge and my remote key worked fine.
What's with that !! Great fun all the same ! Thanks !

Found out and about on another TDC caching night. Not a huge amount of finds for me for the night, I had cached in the area before, and the others needed to clean a lot out, so all was good. Had a great night. My appologies for the late logs and generic logs, have had sick kids and in the process of trying to move house. Thanks to all the cache owners for their cache placements. Much appreciated. TFTC.

The Demolition Crew headed north of Melbourne on what we thought was going to be a wet and cold night. Luckily the rain stayed away but it was freezing. The areas visited included Wallen, Strath Creek, Broadford, Kilmore, Lancefield, Romsey, Kerrie and Clarkfield. It was a great night for a drive in these area, as we caught up on this weeks gaching news. A big thank you to all the cache owners who have placed and maintained these caches.

Wow, what a great multi! It was made even more of a highlight with unexplained dimming of torches, howling of dogs, and other strange goings on. A great journey to complete at 2:30 am. I'd recommend it to anyone, even in the dead of night. Thanks

Found on a TDC run, lots of laughs and good times had while out finding caches. Thanks SamCarter for the cache.

Ahh, thanks for taking a chance Philipp. I hadn't had a chance to find out how close the fire had been; I'd had notification from a local cacher about a nearby fire in mid Feb, and suspected it was a km or two away, but I couldn't find any more details apart from what was on the CFA site and the cacher thought it was closer than that. I'm glad to hear that it is all good. The fuel reduction burn notice (or different versions of it with continually updated dates) has been there for two or three years now; unfortunately I'm unlikely to know exactly when it will take place, what it will effect, or be able to do anything about it! I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

At least, for now, it seems to be good to go. THe usual advice about being sensible in the bush especially in hot conditions applies.

There weren't any fires and the cache and all of it components are in pristine condition ... however ... there is a planned burning on one of the trees along the track. It's valid from now until somewhere in June.

Other than that it was a very nice cache. I really liked the theme as well as the route!

This was a very enjoyable cache. The area is not heavily visited. I was embarrassed by how long it took me to tweak to the theme. The final container did not disappoint. Swapped a pathtag.

I believe there is currently a fire in the rough vicinity of Mt Charlie at the moment, so it seems wise to disable this for the moment and await news on the outcome. There are far more important things than caches.

Very tough walk, so many spiders around. Great challenge and fun walk, took about 2 hrs.

Decicded to come in on Mt Charlie rd. Luckily we were in a 4wd otherwise we would still be there now. Eaton rd. is the much wiser choice this time of year.
I don't know why not many people have done this one, as it is worth a try.
Going from one cache to another was brilliant.
The end cache is in perfect condition and a treasure trove of toys and trinkets.
Well done Sam Carter.

we had the best weather to do this cache. It felt like we were being followed by butter flies, the walk was great. Very well done.

I'm very glad that we put of doing this fantastic cache last Sun and moved it to what proved to be a much cooler day. Smile The trek up the hill made us aware that we need to do just a bit more exercise to combat that Xmas spread. The bush bash was fun and showed us a bit of the countryside. Was that you and your scouts that built the bush shelters near GZ SamCarter? Wink
The trip back down and WP hunt was a good way to test out two different GPSrs and showed us even more of this fantastic area. Then, to top it all off, a the biggest cache container I've seen awaited us at the end as a reward for the hike. How cool is that? Big Grin
Took: Mini tripod. Left: Tag and toy car.
We noticed a lot of ripe blackberries on the roadside on the way in and, not for the first time, sacrificed a little caching for some yummy food. I don't think that I've ever seen as many ripe blackberries going begging in the one spot!

Thanks SamCarter for a great day out that I shall remember for some time. This one gets a favorite vote from me!

I remember reading the description for this one when it was first published, and I thought this was one cache with a difference that I needed to do.
However, it's nearly 18 months since it was published, and I've finally committed to doing it. Why did I wait so long?????
I always enjoy a walk in the bush with a reward at the end, and this one certainly gives a huge reward, and it's certainly at the end.
A fantastic theme, that had me enthralled through each stage of the multi, until GZ, or at least I hoped it was GZ, the next stage would have been a sleigh with reindeers attached if I was wrong.
Thanks to SamCarter for this cleverly put-together cache that doesn't get the finds it deserves. I can't imagine the hours spent in setting this one up.
A thoroughly enjoyable day was had from go to woah! Didn't partake of any swaps, but very happily signed log, thanks again.

This cache has been my closest to home for over 6 months but I have always wanted the right weather conditions to enjoy this walk.
After tipping out 32mm of rain out of the rain guage this morning after the overnight deluge the weather had cooled sufficiently.
However the humidity was still there and this made for quite sweaty conditions on the walk up.
I had a feeling that I should follow the instructions to the letter on this one, so I did and duly parked as instructed.
Enjoyed connecting the given WP's on the way and thanks for the hint at WP1 as this was the trickiest of the hides but not that hard.
The breeze on top was welcome as was a drink as I now had serious work to do.
The rest of the WP's fell like dominoes and I had a great time out there today.
All up I think the walk and finding took just over an hour, though others may take longer
Was not tempted by the huge stash at GZ but others will be, though I note that I am only the 6th finder of this cache.
A great way to start the year as the bush smells divine after rain.
Thanks to Sam Carter

This was one certainly the mother of a caches and a bucket of fun. For once I was glad to be walking and not cycling on the climb up. Didn't get much of a panaramic view at the top but thoroughly enjoyed the adventure that followed. Bush bashing, its the only way to go.

Thank you Sam Carter for a brilliant cache.

Out and about with my mentor cacher pprass. Stayed at the local guide camp to help celebrate a combined 70th birthdays. (one 40th and one 30th). Had the opportunity to go out for a while with pprass and friends. This cache gave partner xambo4u and chance to put the 4 wheel drive into practise as we did not entirely follow the directions. (we were with the prass's, always looking for a short cut). Bonus was that the view was worth it, and it meant that mentor prass had to actually do some hard slog up the hill, the walk was the part that I liked the best. The prickles were very intrusive, as we forged up the hill with no defined track at all. On location of the first WPT we then realized what we were up for. Number 2 was close by and quickly located. Reality then kicked in as to next stop so it was back to the vechiles for road route. With combined effort of the six searches the next couple were retrieved pretty quick, especially when you are driving. Due to other commitments only pprass and xambo4u completed the final 2 locations. Due to the lay of the land some of the co ords were hard to settle so multi GPS's helped. Great final storage bin. Really enjoyed this journey and hidden treasures were bountiful
Thanks for all your efforts with this one. Great location.

Found at 5.05pm GAFF2 in the company of xambo4u (and SIL & BIL). We were staying at Minda Killara with a huge family group for a combined birthday party, so what better way to fill in the time until every one turned up than to take the SIL & BIL for some caching.

"It is STRONGLY recommended that you park at the indicated car park..." - what?.... really?
Oh well - we had a good laugh anyway.

This cache was just 1.5km from where we were staying and there looked like there was a track that went straight to it just up the road a few hundred metres away. So off we headed through a gate and into the bush arriving at a dead end track just 220 metres from GZ - how good was that! So with Mrs xambo4u and BIL we headed straight up on foot through the nasty prickly shrubs and quickly found the container - where we then learned that there was a cute little surprise for us. We then continued pushing our way through the bush to WPT2, however at this stage we decided that we better get back to our vehicles to do the rest. So scrambling back through those nasty prickles we got back to the vehicles, turned them around and off to the 3rd WPT. By the way - the view from where we parked our vehicles were spectacular - across the whole valley.
Some of the WPT's were quite tricky to locate with at times 6 adults scouring an area of 100 sq metres until our GPSr's settled down. We continued in our 4wd's and picked up the rest of the ever increasing containers and then finally we found the most wonderful find full of real treasures - p-pprass wanted half a dozen of the items in there, but alas there was nothing to swap for them - darn it.

Thanks SamCarter for a great adventure and well put together multi - I suppose we had to come back didn't we!

Akhsoyrtam Doll - A small wooden doll that can be pulled in half to reveal another, slightly larger doll inside. Said doll contains a slightly larger doll,....etc
Well, with a lovely day for a bushwalk and a bit of local knowledge, the accent of the mountain was made. With sweat pouring from every pore the track angle increased ever so slightly as I approached the end of the track.
But, lo, who be this fair wanderer whom also ascends this peak!
For it be Keeper of time, who, when asked "Did you find it?" answered "Well, yes I did, sort of....and here is a photo of the empty box!".
After much discussion and a reassessment of the cache notes we teamed up and walked to the summit. I took a slightly quicker time to find the container than Keeper of Time did.
The co-ordinates were extracted and so our journey begins.
The ever increasing size of each container was obvious, hence the cache name of "Akhsoyrtam" and the "upside down" way that you do this cache.
Both of us would like to claim FTF but since this was Keeper of Times 800th, I let him keep the gifts.
Thanks for the cache, we had a lot of fun doing it.

Found 12.30pm

Well this one led me a merry dance. The walk to the summit had my legs burning as I started to realise that I am not as fit as I should be. It was still a great walk but I was glad to reach the top and start my search for the cache, but this is where my problems started, I looked every where, slipping and sliding over the moss covered rocks. After about 30 mins I was starting to get very desperate and did not want to leave without finding it.

Then, after one last sweep the sneaky hide was spotted, yehhhhh my 800th find ..... but was it? Not sure where I should log my find I took a pic on my phone to at least prove that I had found it. I then started the long walk back to the car. After about 1 km who should I see walking up the hill but Riddell, I joked with him that he had missed the FTF by about 15 mins but also told him about the confusing container at the top of the hill with no log book. After another read of the printed cache page the full truth slowly dawned on me .... I had not found the cache after all !!!

So, I turned round and walked back up to the summit with Riddell who found the first container in double quick time, DOH .... now I see !!!

I was now very weary but Riddell strode off again and I had to keep up or miss out on the chance of the FTF. It's always great to cache with someone else and many tales were told as we continued to find bigger and bigger containers. Finally we were at the last WP and what a nice big cache it was too, Riddell offered me the log book to sign first and I officially logged my 800th cache.

Many thanks Sam Carter for a great cache and thanks to Riddell for making it so enjoyable.
