Having waited for a Crofts truck to leave on a Sunday afternoon we got a brief window of opportunity to grab, sign and replace. Mr was impressed with the boys toys on show.
Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..
Back in greymouth for a while working at the Noah's ark backpackers...so a good base to tick off a few more..
Set myself a mission to hit 8000 finds by the end of the year...that's an average of 6 a day ..
Glad I chose the weekend to grab this one..would be a busy place otherwise..quick find tftc

When Albi mentioned about his work commitments at Fox Glacier, as always we decided to make a trip out of it, but this time its a long over due overnight one. Spending quality time together, enjoying the drive, picking up some caches, small walks, and also cherry on top, a Heli ride woo-hoo.
Had no trouble in finding this one. TFTC.

Found with Kiwimykl. Today's mission was to head out to the Brunner Mine site do the caches there and as many PnGs on the road both sides of the river between the mine and Greymouth. We have completed our mission a the Brunner Mine Site as well as all the roadside caches on the south side of the river between there and Greymouth. No we have to get across the river to do the road on the other side back to Greymouth. This cache was on the way to the nearest river crossing (other than the Brunner Bridge), so we stopped by for a QEF PnG.
Kiwimykl and I decided to spend a few days based in Greymouth between Christmas and New Years as a geocaching break from our greater family, who we are having three camping/caravanning holidays between 17 Dec 2021 and 24 Jan 2022. Over five days we cached the 'Grey' area taking in such places as the Larriken Track, Omutumotu Bush Walk, Mahinapua Tramway, Brunner Mine Site including both sides of the Grey River as far as Stillwater, Hokitika Gorge, Woodstock Rimu Heritage Trail, Rewanui Walkway, some Survivor series puzzles we missed on a previous visit as well as a few PnGs in between the various locations. This area certainly provides a veritable pot pourri for geocachers. Our logs were either in full or abridged to KM + ND as log space permitted.
Thanks to all to CO's who placed and maintained these caches, especially G7&M and H&H. However from the amount of pill bottles used as cache containers, we have serious concerns about your respective health and wish you all the best in that respect. As a token of our gratitude, we left a token of our appreciation behind which will become apparent in due course.

A well overdue change of CO on my day-long journey from Nelson to Punakaiki ahead of starting the Paparoa Track tomorrow.
I pulled up by said sawmill and crossed the road towards the host feature. "Where do I start?" I asked myself as I approached. Turns out I need not have worried much as I spied the cache after a few moments.
Nice to grab a golden-oldie. Thanks Annie and PB

#10,075. Day 3 of the extended Labour Weekend road trip. Had expected to be in Auckland for the Mega Event but after it got postponed due to COVID, Infoferret and I decided a second road trip to the South Island would be a good plan C. [Plan B had been doing the geotour caches in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty but COVID put paid to that idea as well]. Well the geocaching gods must have decided we had suffered enough and delivered a week of excellent warm sunny weather for the trip south with just a couple of short patches of light rain thrown in to remind us it was still spring.
Heading back to Greymouth after our big walk in the hills earlier today but a quick diversion to do this cache. It could have taken a while but I struck it lucky and found the cache in the first place checked. Sometimes the geocaching gods smile on you. Signed the logbook and replaced where found. Thanks Annie & PB for the cache.

A caching morning in Greymouth complete. Now slowly working my way to Ikamatua.
Brunner Bricks behind me so now it is park and grab time.
Another 2009 cache - I recall driving by here once before but being a weekday there were way too many muggles about. Sunday morning today. Perfect for a quick find.

I seem to struggle with caches hidden in rock piles. But today there was no need to worry, I spotted it before I got out of the car. TFTC
Cache was a quick find and I took away the bit of rubbish that was practically next to the cache
Early Sunday find after a night in the vicinity. I had a deja vu for some reason? TFTC!!
On our way back from Brunner, to Greymouth. Quick stop here to snag and tag this one. Cheers
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off to the West Coast for the weekend exploring. It had rained for two days before we arrived but mostly stayed dry. Waded my way along the Mahinapua board walk with the bike!! Picked up some LAB caches and checked out Brunner. Another great trip. Thanks to all CO's.

That's odd, I'm sure I've found a cache here before. Oh well, I'll take the smilie, thanks !
So very lucky to be on top of this as we drove by. Was gmapping target AND spontaneously geocached: was on top of this, urgent 'stop the bus' call, she did. Good girl.
A quick and easy find (struck it lucky and spotted it as I walked past) while heading towards Greymouth this afternoon. Signed log, TFTC.
Another rocky one! FOrtunately not busy here and found within about a minute. TFTC

Day 3 Greymouth -Hokitika
After completing the card series, we made our way following a caching trail into town.
I wanted to do the Flintstones since I had done all the puzzles before leaving Australia.
We found Greymouth a great town to drivw around, a good selection of hides & containers found.

After a trip to Brunner mine memorial and a walk across the suspension bridge there we headed back to Greymouth the long way round. As I approached this one I eventually realized this is a return visit and heart sank. However today the sun was shining and luck was on my side as I soon located the cache. Replaced as found, using a nice road rock to carefully cover. TFTC Annie & PB
A chance for a trip away for a couple of days as mrs capperz has a couple of days off work, and so do I too so we decided it was to be a first trip across to the West Coast form mrs (her furthest previously had been the Buller swing-bridge). I'd got a few puzzles solved over this way and also wanted to get another cache owner total up into triple figures; this time g7&m have been added to my centenary statistics. A beautiful couple of days away seeing some of the best that the West coast has to offer and we saw some awesome scenery and sights, I even got my Earthcache total into triple figures too.

Used our cachemobile as a screen from the people across the road.It didn't take long to find amongst all the Rocks.TFTH
At last, we have stopped to find this one several times but the trucks and other traffic always foiled us. Today it was quieter so we managed to nip across and find it before another truck stopped. TFTC
Found on way to Hokitika for the weekend. I think I might have looked for this one before
We stopped here on our way around to Black Ball and waited for a few cars to pass. Otherwise it was pretty quiet. It took us a while to spot the cache since it was nicely tucked away. Tftc.
Ml was standing on top of it when gk said. .. well how about we use this one for now tftc
Not much happening in Stillwater on a Sunday !!
The sawmill was quiet.
Even the coal trains had stopped running.
One fully loaded train looked like it had been parked for the weekend [:o]
I put some life into the towne for a few minutes by poking around the rocks at the roadside for a cache
Eeeek !! An easy find !!
Not often that happens in a pile of rocks !!

Found it. I arrived there and saw all the rocks and I was like O no. But it did not take to long to fined.
Drove over from Christchurch yesterday, staying in Greymouth for a couple of nights. Today I got up to Ikamatua along the state highway, then the return trip via the back roads on the other side of the river, caching all the way. There was potential here for a long exhausting search, but not today, found it in the second place I looked, within a few seconds, nice! TFTC (2192)
[green] Drove down Friday night for a three day wages to petrol extravaganza. Doing the Blenheim - Greytown - Westport Blenheim loop. Drove to Reefton Friday night so I could grab some empty log books early this morning. That done its on with the main mission. An awesome three day experience, only about 30 caches per day, but two badge upgrades, wekas, seals and penguins, an awesome coast road and coastal walk. Wonderful.
Taking the back road into Greytown, if this road can be called the back road .
It's still early in the morning, and this hard to find cache was causing a bit of frustration, especially with all the traffic. Why is there so much traffic here at this time of day?

On an epic caching mission with Shannonp1 through Reefton to Greymouth over the Lewis Pass, cacheing in Greymouth then returning to Rangiora via Arthurs Pass over two days. Final count for the weekend was over 200 caches. A quick easy find on our way past.
On an epic caching mission with Surveybase to North canterbury, Waipara, Culverdon, Springs Junction, Reefton, Greymouth, Arthurs Pass and back to Rangiora over two days. Final count for the weekend was Saturday 124 caches, Sunday 80 caches. not a bad weekends work. sorry for the cut and paste but it would take forever to log them all.
Took a bit of a search as the right angle was very narrow but got it in the end. Helped that we are short in stature so not as hard as it could have been. Tftc
A lot of traffic, and this took a little longer than expected to find! Was completely hidden. TFTC
Heading In to greymouth for the days caching with geodoggies Coco and Milo and Nosynel too. Had to stop and grab this one. Cheers.
Just a few rocks to rocks through hmmmm.

As late in the day that it was we needed some fresh air after a day of over-indulgence so headed off out with torches to find a few caches. Dropped 2 TBs. Thank you Annie & PB and Merry Xmas.
On our annual pilgrimage to the Coast and in need of some fresh air after a day of indulgence. We finished up with logging six caches and a FTF. Thank you Annie & PB for placing this cache.

I had been wanting to come over caching to Greymouth for a while, since I had never yet been caching further than the West Coast CANZ cache!!
Spur of the moment, a trip was planned, and I decided to head off on Friday after work. However realised we had monthly after work drinks! Ah, stayed for that then, and then left.
Saturday ended up being a numbers day. My second top caching day in history, and I wasn't even aiming that high!!
This was one of the many caches I got therefore
A nice and easy grab - place was completely deserted probably thanks to it being a weekend
Consec caching day # 503

With judithn and t4 and mrs t4 on weekend to Greymouth to catch up with what's occurring
Team_Gaters and I have planned a this trip over the last few months. We finally got to the business end of things and kicked off out West Coast raid. We had two days and a lot of boxes to tick. We started at 5am on Saturday morning and it took over 12 hours to get to Greymouth. We drove a lot, walked a lot and had a lot of laughs. We experienced 4 seasons and even contemplated aborting the mission as we were standing in icy cold weather freezing as the rain came pelting down in Arthurs Pass. We encountered matigouri, rosehips, blackberries, brambles, spainairds, baby gorse and old man gorse!!! Still finding parts of prickles in my skin! We also saw kea, weka, cave weta, tree weta, giant slugs, giant spiders in caves, west coasters, fat wood pidgeons, tui and a giant dragon fly. Had wet feet for nearly two days. Three FTFs and on of them was unpublished (first for me).
Now we're heading back to GM and picking up the caches we drove past. Quick park and grab. After I reversed from the bridge, been conditioned to stop at bridges after doing the BtG
Awesome weekend. TG and I joked that going back to work would be a bit of a let down, so to combat that we would keep one foot in a bucket of water and the other one on top of a pin cusion, that should ignite the memories.
Thanks for the cache.

In Greymouth with TheWanglers on a caching weekend. After tea we had driven direct to Under The GoalPosts as we wanted to get that out of the way whilst it was still light.....having completed we were now picking up the caches we drove past on our drive back to Greymouth. Soon turned up the cache. Ruddy big 'dumptruck' parked up in the compound. Cheers.
timed my visit just before the action....grateful for spot on coords. thanks for the cache
Oh no I thought as I approached but I needn't have worried it was a nice quick find. TFTC #4651
Took us longer than i tshould have, especially with all 4 sets of eyes looking lol, got there in the end. tftc
Luckily parked right beside GZ so cache soon spotted without having to turn over too many TFTC.
