Thanks Fernio for placing and maintaining this cache. Out and about with Barnzy12 getting a few smily faces.
Decided to head out to Canning Mills to finally make the trek out to the Jailbreak multi that’s been on our radar for ages and we’ve actually been close enough a few times but never wanted to make the trek down here.
We loaded the bikes onto the back of the car and made the journey down and parked up in the shade. We took a side path and found grizzly first before turning our attention to the jailbreak multi abandoning the bikes on the path to make the 150m walk into the cache to find the ammo can complete with original logbook from 17years ago. We finished the multi and went back to the bikes to continue back towards the car with a brief stop off at drop bear nest which we managed to snag relatively quickly.
Thanks for a fun morning on the bikes. Thoroughly enjoyed.

looked absolutely everywhere, could not find it, kicked sticks around and still nothing
I was getting ready to give on on this one as I had felt like I had searched every place possible.
I decided on one last try at the main object near the indicated coordinates and swept around with a stick...
Lo and behold I found it.
Not what I was expecting but you have to get used to that in geocaching.
Thanks for the nice bike ride.

We decided to do this one on the bikes & think it was the right decision as the track is good. TFTC
Taking all necessary precautions I headed into the infamous Drop Bear Territory. With one eye on the hunt for the cache the other was trained to the tree tops. I sucessfully made the find and left without becoming a statistic. TFTC.
Out hiking/caching with my buddy Andrew from Taiwan. Found this cache safe and well in good condition. TFTC
Bit of a mission this morning as I tracked through the bush to pick up the caches in this little part of the world. Interestingly, was talking to some friends recently and was surprised that quite a few of them had never heard of "drop bears". People always surprise you. TFTC El Cacholoco.
El Cacholoco your cache was found nicely tucked away and in good nick. A nice afternoon to take a wee stroll along this path. Incredible number of roo markings on track makes me think it would be interesting up here on dusk. Thanks for setting this one up El Cacholoco.
A nice early morning New Years walk and this was a quick find for me
A nice hide here and thankfully we had no trouble adding our name to the log book. TFTC .
Fernio - jinta29 found your cache Drop Bear Nest on 1/01/2017, 7:47 AM. This is my find #6160 and find #1 today. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

Good one to do on the MTB. A little bit of poking around to find the cache. Definite signs of drop bear activity here. TFTC.
Headed out for a walk today to find the nearby multi which had been on the to-do list for longer than I can remember... Inspired by the Geosportz game on GCA, today was the day for the walk Although the weather was not the best, DangerMouse09 & I headed off with the umbrella just in case but glimpses of sunlight started to show & a great walk was had... Thankfully I managed to lure DM09 away from the puddles along the way!
With 70m to go, we headed bush in search of this one & thankfully I found the prize in the first spot I looked... TFTC El Cacholoco & for keeping it going Fernio [^]
Logging as our 1500m Challenge in the Geosportz, from gate to cache was 1.5km but all in all it was a 4.4km round trip. Have uploaded photo of our Nuvi at the gate where we left off, but will upload my track log once I figure out how

Found the cache while on the way to another nearby. The lower side of the track in had been subjected to a prescribed burn in the last couple of days, Some of the trees were still smoking in the rain. The cache is in good condition. many thanks for the cache.
Out caching with hhheddy, on route to log solved multi/mystery final nearby. Lower side of track still smoking after recent prescribed burn; however this cache in good condition. TFTC

In the area for some cache maintenance and this one was too hard to resist.
One of the locals popped out but just issued a warning screech so we avoided his nest and continued on.
Thanks for the cache El Cacholoco
Cheers TLC

I was in the area chasing down a nearby cache and put this one on the to-do list for today. The closest parking I could find was about 1.5 k's to the east and I had a nice stroll to GZ.
On approach I spotted the likely host but it took a while before I found the cache. Some of the previous logs led me astray a little with mentions of mechanisms and wot not causing me to search in the all the wrong locations while getting quite dirty at the same time.
After about twenty minutes I was ready to give the game away and thought I would check one last spot, it was with great relief that I uncovered the container.
All the while I thought I could hear some drop bears but thankfully none showed themselves to me.
Fernio I found your cache at 4:28pm, this was the 3rd of 3 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 2543. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

We came prepared with a new container (small sistema) which we left to replace the burnt old cache. Thanks Fernio
A controlled burn has effected this cache and it is not functioning as it used to see my comments below.
I returned the cache to near its original position but I did not have the mechanism to make it function as it used to.
If El Cacholoco is unable to fix, I will come back and fix.

Came to the drop bear nest some years back and this time to make it official. Fashioned a spear with a knife on my walking stick and some vegimite to keep the drop bears away which must have worked as I saw no signs of them. This might also have been because it was later in the year and a recent controlled burn.
I was worried for the cache when I saw this and my fears were confirmed.
The cache had 'survived the burn' but was on the ground as I expected. The lid had fused to the cylinder and the log and pencil were unable to be extracted. See photo. I may need to repair this as El Cacholoco appears overseas.
This cache needs to survive as this is a nice walk in especially in spring.

After trying to find another nearby cache without luck, I found this one with ease. Where I come from, the Bungonia Drop Bears are the locals that cause havoc. TFTC.
Approached the area with some trepidation ... I was on my own, but adopted the vegemite precaution and it appears to have worked. The only drop bear I encountered was a little red one, probably the same one another cacher mentioned ... seems it's been hanging around here for a while. Nice camo. Signed the log. Thanks for the hide El Cacholoco.
After tiptoeing through the tulips nearby, we decided to try for this one. The rain held off and it was a nice walk. Lots of wildflowers. We did encounter one little red drop bear, but it turned out to be friendly. TFTC
Nice walk to find the cache. No bears about but they may have been peeing on the log. It is very wet. Sorry don't carry spares when on a route march.
Thank goodness the Drop Bears were still in hibernation as we had no interference from them at all, not even a hungry growl. Found the cache quickly, signed the log. Pickup coin, drop bear. Sorry, couldn't resist that.
This was an adventure! I bush bashed through from Grizzly over the thankfully *almost* dry creek bed until I came across the right trail.
All was well on the way into the cache but after 10 frustrating minutes I still couldn't find it. After a rest and a drink I put my thinking cap on and had the cache in hand straight away.
Unfortunately I disturbed a bear on my way out. Thankfully I had coated my walking pole with Vegemite and managed to beat it off, only losing a couple of toes in the fight.
A definite favourite point from me, despite the loss of digits.

We missed seeing this cache the other day so walked in today to find it. Found without bears.
Thanks for the cache.

I was bush bashing across through some thick bush and all was going well until I remembered about the locals. Does health insurance cover drop bear attacks?
An enjoyable walk in. We went as a group to in the hope that some of us survived to log the cache. Thankfully the drop bears must have been sleeping. We quickly retrieved the cache and signed the log before making a hasty retreat. TFTC.
Good walk in and an easy find. A very nice cache to come across. Didn't see any bears, but a few jumping rats were about.
Neither of us are keen on vegimite so we had to go in unprotected, luckliy we never came across any Drop Bears maybe it was our dogs which kept them away. Anyway thanks for this cache it was a lovely walk, found cache, signed log.
Great hike in from the road. Nice bit of bush, but we were frightened of the Drop Bears so wore vegimite on our ears. Saw the remains of a kangaroo obviously attacked by Dropbear as only bones and dried skin left.

An early morning through the bushland to find this nicely hidden cache. Thanks El Cacholoco
Enjoyed the walk out along the track. Found our target and signed the log. Thanks for the cache El Cacholoco.
Had to approach the nest very carefully, and search with stealth for the treasure, so as not to wake the sleeping bears. After scoping out the area below their nest I did a circumnavigation to secure the site, and then moved in for the treasure. Luckily I was able to retrieve the bounty undetected, and was soon on my way again safely.
Thanks for a great cache, really enjoyed the walk in here as well. It's a lovely bush area, and I didn't see or hear anyone else the entire trip.

Set out to find Brookside Rest but the track from Canning Mills Road is a stream at this time of year and bush too thick to fight through with young grand-daughter, so visited the Drop Bears instead.
Found with DemonGrandy and Billy the Geomutt without difficulty. Thanks

The "Area Prohibited" signs actually don't have anything to do with drop bears.
They are there to prevent people from driving their 4x4s in the water catchment area, although it doesn't seem to stop the dirt bikes.
Walking on the old road and the trails through the area is not a problem. I've seen plenty of people walking through here a number of times.

Have looked for this one a couple of times, how do you get to it - ignore the 'Prohibited Area' signs all over the place? If you go down the track near Grizzly and straight line through the bush for 900 metres you can avoid seeing the signs, but it is still a prohibited area, and it's not just prohibited for vehicles. I know the other end of Douglas Road, near Versteeg, and that is prohibited too. What have I missed here? Some other access route?
Having encountered Drop Bears whilst Rogaining I knew that peanut butter on your face is a better deterent than vegemite and so armed I faced the challenge and soon found the cache.

2TF - A remarkably quick and easy find (in the daylight) on our way to finish a nearby puzzle cache started 20 months or so ago. TFTH.
YAY 1st to DNF . Got to the location with Shr00mbait and hiked on in at night. A beautiful night for a walk in the forest under the moonlight, but unfortunately couldnt find the cach as gps signal was bouncing all over the place.Fortunately the drop bears were sleeping and the vegimite worked and the hoop snakes were flat out.
Came back to the car and lo and behold the Muggles In BLUE were checking the car and placing the "Vehicle Reported Sticker" on it, some fast talking, a sheepish grin and they were off. A day time cache i think.

After getting home a bit later than usual and put the kids to bed, only to see Drop Bear Zone had been published, there was then that internal struggle as I knew it was going to be a bit of a walk, I could not convince any of my two sometime caching sidekicks, so that mean it would be a long walk in the bush in the dark... In case I twisted my ankle ! nothing to do with all those noises But I decided to go for it....
After parking, grabbing everything I needed out of the car I checked the GPS pocketed it and started walking, I got to a trail and set of down it, after a short time I grabbed the GPS to check my progress, I was on the wrong trail!?! Argh ! but wait what's this? a green box on the map? My mistake had led me to 31 meters away from Grizzly [8)] what a goose, but of course how can you not do a cache so close.
So back on the track this time stopping and checking the map at regular stages. There is a bit of a river created by the council ploughing a drain in the road to stop cars using this section, as I mounted that rise I almost had a heart attack as about 5 ducks took to flight and scared the absolute QUACK out of me...
I wont bore you with all the puddles along the road, the kangaroo that tried to chat me up and how I almost walked past the area as I could have swore I saw lights in the bush off in the distance... The mind starts to play tricks on you heheh
To the cache, El Cacholoco you almost had me, I searched and searched that sucker, after such a long walk there was no way I was going to give it a DNF if I could help it.
Oh I did forget to mention a couple of things, Make sure your torch is fully charged before trying a cache in the bush a long way from any road and if you do have a spare wind up torch for just those occasions, make sure you do not leave it in the car!
So I was about 25 minutes into the search thinking another 15 and I'll have to go or the wife will start to worry after all I said "I'll be about 45 minutes" hahah what a fool! plus the torch was about useful as a candle at this stage. So it was at that point I stopped and started to have a think.... and what do you know I found the cache. FTF @ 21:00
Niiice one El Cacholoco love your work I really enjoyed it, a great walk and thank gawd for the 3/4 moon to guide me back.
SL TNLN and got outa there before the drop bears and hoop snakes woke up.

and don't let a hoop snake bowl into you while you're looking up checking for drop bears...
