I arrived at GZ, and started the search. It was only after 5 minutes of searching that I looked at previous logs, something I really should have done at the last cache, which would have saved me some time, as this is most likely missing.
We stopped off on our way down to Te Kuiti for the weekend and discovered this hidden gem. Such a nice rest stop with some amazing tress and an interesting commemoration structure.
The cache is in good condition inside its protective pouch and the log is nice and dry.
Thanks XenaCommander and TechnoKitten for bringing us to a great spot we would never have known existed had it not been for geocaching.

Mr A showing Mrs A the way to go to avoid the traffic.. while every one sticks to the clogged motorway.... this one is always flowing great..... pulled up at GZ right on dark.. navigaged the vail stench of some idiots fish bait..., wondering where on earth a NZ christmas tree was given the other kind her taking up all the space.. but did eventually find what we were looking for... bit of torch light .. and it was just where it should have been.., cache in order... right thats enough for today... time to head home...
Flew in from Melbourne this morning, had a sleep and decided to do a few caches on the way to Hamilton. Parking at the south end of the park this made for a nice stretch of the legs. There were muggles parked above but they were busy yakking so grabbed the (unhidden) cache, signed the log and put back with cover. TNLN, TFTC XenaCommander
Out and about on our way to meet a geofriend from the Waikato before climbing Mt Williams. We had a little time to burn as we were early so we stopped off to get this one and one other near by. It was a quick find but the cache was out in the open. Still in good condition though with a fresh log and it was nice and dry. Signed at placed it back with some additional cover. TFTC
Now that the rest stop is closed from traffic it has become a bit of a trash dump which is a pity. It would be a pleasant stop in better weather. TFTC
2359 Parked at old entrance hoping it could be a park and grab. Not so. So made my way to GZ and couldn't find the cache. Stepped back to think a bit more and saw it sitting on the ground under my feet. Signed and returned. Covered and returned to the car.
Many many MANY years ago, when Mr & Mrs M were teens, this was a spot where we used to come and relax with herbal remedies. Looks like many teens have done this exact thing too many times as now the driveway is closed off. So we parked well off the road and made our way to the likely hint item. Felt around and soon had the camo'd cache in hand. Nice and dry inside thank goodness after our last cache which was growing things inside it. TFTC
Last one in the Bombay area before retuning home; it was quite dark by the time we got here so cache was found by feeling around a little. The cache is in great condition and very well packaged. Log signed with little light there was and returned and covered. TFTC.
Nice little rest stop here. Quickly spotted the camo. Log signed as b&p.Tftc XenaCommander and TechnoKitten. Find # 3056
Great spot the rest, so close to our new home as well.

Good hide. Was not covered but still well hidden. Covered now. Not quite sure what was fermenting in the bottle near by... Eek! Tftc
Another quick detour with rebel98 and supernanny. The picnic area is all chained off, I guess a few problems with persons with too much time on their hands? we walked up the driveway to its carpark, and made our way to GZ. A quick find, its been awhile since I found a XenaCommander hide, the cache and contents are in perfect condition - I see why now, they were back in the country a few months ago and did some maintenance
We had a bit of an explore, reading the plaque on the cairn, love the history, and the trees are amazing - this below was copied from http://www.elocal.co.nz/view_article.aspx?id=308
Three enormous Puriri trees stand over a triangular cairn made of dressed stones. Embedded into the front of the cairn is another older concrete facing with the fading words etched on its surface;

Another "close to motorway" one that has been on my to do list ! Very interesting to read the plaque here....
Also found a "cave tree " nearby !

XC and TK rode Xena to GZ... Replaced log which did still have space in it for those who were observant... All good now for another 7 years. )

Tftc. Nice quick find. Great camo. Log full & looks like it has been for 3 years.
First cache find for the 2016 year. Yay!
Found as we began our journey southward and back towards home territory after a fab few days holiday at Clarks Beach with friends.
Cache find was straightforward. True to the coordinates and hint. Nice to bag another XC cache and a 2009 one at that.
All in order, but as previously noted the log is full; log signed - finding some earlier pages that had space available, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
Driving this section of road brought back fond memories of the trip over the Bombay Hills in earlier days.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

A group of us decided to blow out the cobwebs after a rather dull Saturday and a spectacular thunderstorm overnight and take a drive down to Hamilton for a day of caching. MrNZT and I peeled off the group to finish off a couple of caches down this side road that had been bugging MrNZT as he often commutes to Hamilton for work. Parked right next to GZ and quickly found the nicely camoed cache at the hint item. TFTC!
Log in need of replacement. First tried this one over two years ago but got muggled out.
12:45 - #091...
Yay found it... Kinda hard one to spot... If you don't know which the hint was... Cool case even the logbook...
Off to the next one TFTC e)

Constantly amazed how wet these logs can get.
Place very littered.

Love the camp pouch , log book is pretty full but managed to sign near the front
Logs very full but I managed to find room towards the beginning of the original log. Gorgeous trees here but I would hate to be around when they crash to the earth and it is only going to be a matter of time before that happens.
Needed to make a quickstop, so this worked out well for me. Found after a short search in between passing showers (more like downpours actually), loved the excellent camo. TFTC XenaCommander, 7990
This may be an easy cache to locate but to find it unaccompanied is more challenging. I have lost count of the number of steamed up cars that I have found parked right beside it. Today I have finally signed it off. I recall when there was an information kiosk here and toilets.
Found with Mrs McMike2012 while out for a bit of a drive around the Bombay Hills area ... there being a few caches out this way that we hadn't done before ... this being the 1st of 7 for the day ... cache was easily retrieved, signed & replaced ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #947 for us.
been driving past this one for months to go to work, figured it was about time i stopped to find it TFTC
Was in the area with ERI-OT hunting down an FTF.
Mission accomplished and headed home down the Gt. South Road to find just a few more.
Had driven past this one a few times but lost cell coverage so never completed .
Cache is in good order.

I really like the camouflage jacket of the log book and cache. [^]

We have driven past here many, many times on the motorway, and maybe even idly thought about how to get to that particular picnic spot, but have never stopped. Thanks for bringing us here. A nice easy find. All in good order.
Used to stop around here many moons ago before the motorway went through, no-one about today so another quick find. TFTC
A quick find, place deserted.
Time to head home, first stop Te Aroha
Thanks for the hide.

We've driven past here several times but never stopped. Decided to have lunch here today, the concrete tables are huge! Nicely camoed cache
Was out this way for work so I threw in a compulsory rest stop. Nice little cache except for the ants!
This is the first time i have travelled down this part of Great South Road, hard to imagine it was the main drag to Auckland back in the day. Cheers for getting me here. TFTC
A quick stop and walk in following the pointer to GZ. The pile of sticks highlighted the hide. After extracting the log and signing we reassembled and returned with a few less large sticks.

The weather was fine so we headed off to Bombay for lunch and to grab some
Of the caches along the way TFTC all nice and dry

Mr Dillnutz spotted this cache upon closer inspection of the nearest NZ Xmas tree. GPS was a bit jumpy this evening. Excellent camo. Lovely and dry when everything nearby was almost afloat. TFTC
With our eldest daughter emigrating to Canada and a need to drop off Corky the dog for her to emigrate too, a road trip was in order and of course a few caches along the way. The need to let Corky out for toilet stops and leg stretches coincided with caches placed along our route, funny old thing!
Today was the day of departure and after dropping off Laura at the airport I needed some in the dark with torch caches to get the day off to a good start
No problem with the find here today, a quick jump over the fence and signing duties completed

Ellex2 and I were heading south for a girls weekend and decided to do a spot of geocaching along the way. This was our first stop, a nice easy one to start us off for the day. TYFTC
First cache of the day on our attempt to do 50 in a day and at least 1km apart for the Geocaching Licence. 1 down, 49 to go. TFTC
My GPSr had me at a different location, so I spent a lot of time looking in the wrong place. I got out from under the leaf cover and took a few readings, trying to project other places where the cache might have been hidden, when all of the sudden a little green leprechaun appeared and pointed right at the cache. AF. TFTC.
Another weekend, and another KiwfruitsNZ/Vamber caching adventure.
This time, it was to secure the "50 caches in a day, 1km+ apart" requirement for our Geo Challenge Licence #9. After 12 hours of caching, covering several roads between Auckland and Hamilton, surviving several downpours of rain, and the odd "interesting muggle", am pleased to say that we claimed our 50 caches (plus one more for the daily cache)!!

Today was spent, alongside our caching buddies, KiwifruitsNZ, securing the last of the requirements for our Full Geo-Licence Challenge - find 50 caches in one single day and where each cache found must be at least 1 km from any of the other caches! A daunting target and task, which resulted in a 12 hour day, but it's done! Yay!

Fourth and final cache of the day, can't believe how many are so close to home! The drive was a good chance for me to practice for my restricted and I liked the way the cache was camoed. Thanks for the cache.
Nice camo.. alas no pen so couldnt sign log.. found with the lovely wendythebean.. tftc
Quick easy find for kiwi....... Shame about the spot being so over grown and a dump site..... TFTC

Had us going for a while, due to phone freezing up, and us checking every tree in the area before locating the right one. Kids were back in car, and I hopped out for a last look and found it. Cool camo.
Found by Small Pooka while the four of us were out hunting the solar system caches. I really liked this area, especially the monument and the interesting trees. How I would have loved playing in them when I was a kid! TFTC.
Another nice and easy grab for the day. Good to stop and enjoy the trees and had a look at the stones. So many nice little places spotted today. TFTC #161
Out getting Pluto in the new Solar System series with Reveurs, Small Pooka and Anastriel. So we stopped by to pick this one up on the way back. A lovely area. The stone monument was interesting, couldn't really make out what it was about. And nice trees too. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
I had wanted to get to 350 caches before the end of the year and totally forgot, until yesterday. . . So out with Lycurgon and friends to try and get closer. TFTC
Stopped off to get this one on the way back from participating in an SACC hillclimb in the Maramarua Forest. Easy find. Lots of rubbish around GZ, so did a Trash Out as well. TFTC.
Thought it was time to log a few more finds. Quick detour on the way home from work. Brings back memories of the old AA building and long traffic jams at holiday times pre the construction of the motorway. TFTC
Stopped by on way home to Rotorua . What a cool little rest stop . Kids enjoyed inspecting the trees.
On the road home from the mega event in Auckland
Great to be collecting caches around the way. Thanks for the cache XenaCommander

On the way home from NZ Mega. We needed the hint as co-ords seemed a bit out, maybe due to the trees. Good camo, cache nice and dry, no sign of any ants today. TFTC!

Ha, my 2nd find where the cache finds reached 200 with my log - must be something in the water or to do with all the MEGA attendees? TFTC, quick find in the sticks.
