No luck today. Redid our projection to confirm we were in the correct area but still no luck!
We really enjoyed this cache. Quiet a challenge on whether we had the right co-ordinates and then a test of our fairly new searching skills. Thanks for the design and work on this one. SL TFTC
Out and about but failed to unearth this one. We did the projection but no smilie today.
Knowing how to use a map and compase but not being good at it I chose to use waypoint projection to get to gz. A wet rainy arfternoon may have not been the best time to drive out here but once I parked my car I waited for a break in the rain and made the quick find and log getting back to my car just as the rain started again.
Today makes day 26 of my current streak.
Thanks Phetlern for the cache

We were in Bendigo for the weekend and had just finished the Welcome to the Eurovision series cache. This multi seemed to be between us and where our GeoCruiser was parked, so we decided to give it a go. We have had plenty of practice at getting our bearings up Wangaratta way lately, so here was another opportunity to test our skills. Yay, we did it! SL at 1.28pm TNLN. Cache and contents in good order. #9932 TFTmulti Phetlern - another of your OH 9 series done and dusted!
Took the hard way for this one . Started the Eurovision series, and detoured to this. In Bendigo for the weekend as part of Melbourne Opera’s massive Wagner Ring Cycle. It’s our rest day for our final performances, so here I am finding some local caches. TFTC
I was collecting the nearby Eurovision series and noticed this cache was unloved.
I definitely took the hard way to this cache, the track was very overgrown. Nice easy find once I was through all the scrub!
Now to take the long way out so I don't have to go back down that track... tftc

Oh 7 was a great adventure. Starting at the exact posted coordinates we used the phones compass to ‘sight’ our journey forward. We also toggled between the compass and geocaching app for the distance in metres we were away from our starting point. This placed us within 5 metres of the cache. cache was soon in hand and log signed. Thanks for the hide, cache and bush walk Phetlern.
Out and about with Bogonghazy. Second time lucky. Thanks for placing the geocache
Out for the day with LittleBoss2 trying to get her to 1000 caches by years end.
This was a such a relief after a DNF earlier this year, I'm sure we checked there last time. LOL
Our thanks to Phetlern for placing this and bringing us here, certainly a multi with a different stroke.

Well that was exciting! We didn’t know if we had the calculations correct but we thought we’d take a look anyway and whaddayano- there was the cache! Thanks- that was fun!
Well that took a fair bit of scrub bashing but got there in the end, thanks for a fun cache
LittleBoss2 and I took advantage of our 2hr exercise break to find a few caches today.
However, after trying to project our bearings twice, we still couldn't find this one. I'm sure it's still there, I'm just not that good at projecting the waypoints needed. Or our eyes are glued on. We'll be back for another chance soon, thanks Phetlern

Finally a day without rain here in Bendigo. Out for a 2 hour walk with Bogonghazy during COVID lockdown. Found a couple of cache's close to home.
Unfortunately, we didn't find this one.

After attending the Geocaching Victoria event at the No 7 Park Big Hill I teamed up with the event organiser GemmaSistema for a few hours of caching around Bendigo.
I have not done a lot of caching up this way so it was good to be out and about up here today.
We were targeting a few oldies and some others that we came upon.
I suppose when this cache was put out the estate around here did not exist as some of the houses around here are pretty impressive.
We parked the Geocruiser off the road and made our way here on what I would call a goat track, luckily Gemma was leading as she could brush away all of the spider webs that were spun across the track.
After a brief search we located the cache, added our names to the log and this was the last one for the afternoon.
Thanks Phetlern TFTC.

After the event at Crusoe Res I teamed up Posums to hunt out some old school caches, multis and mysteries. Talk about a bush bash! Still pulling twigs out of my hair! Ha ha. Many thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the hide guys, it took me way like ne’er than it should to find the cache, but got there in the end
After doing a simple projection we were off to a nearby GZ. A quick search and the container was found. All in good order here, even after not having been found for over a year!
Thanks for the cache Phetlern.

Day 9 of our epic trek to the St Arnaud Mega via Geelong and return via wherever the caches are.
The constant was my travel companion for the entire trip, - Anymules but we were joined by other cachers in our travels.
With the Mega event finished we continued caching around Bendigo where we were based for a few days. The GPS died yesterday so let's try some phone caching.
After 14 months of unloved we wondered if this cache would still be here. So after a quick projection we started our search. Anymules soon had his hand on the cache which is in surprisingly excellent condition. . Should be okay for a few years more.
Thanks for the cache.

I had a job interview in Ballarat and so Rex and I headed off for a 3 day trip which gave us the chance to spend some time in the bush around Bendigo on the way Harry gets into some amazing places and a couple of motorbike riders couldn't believe their eyes when they saw us
I didn't get the job (although now I have a much nicer one![^]) and we did get to cache some great spots and views! [^]
I got to see Kryal Castle (well the outside at least) which I had visited about 34 years ago when my daughter was only 2 years old , I saw the fog and cloud from Mt Warrenheip as we cached in drizzly rain , I found what I thought might have been a puzzle cache GZ but it sure wasn't [xx(][xx(] although it was a plastic container in a hole in a tree [xx(] and on the way home, we had memories of Adelaide as we found a cache in the Mount Lofty Reserve
All up we DNFd 3 caches and we found 34 caches.
As I have been about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby
I love the bush sights in Victoria [^] and the history and stories of the determination of the pioneers. [^]

Found with FUF009.
We headed into Bendigo today to help me get my yearly numbers up.
Unfortunately I ended up being rather unwell during the trip so it was a bit shorter than planned.
This one took a while to find as our projections were not the same. But we tried again and made the find.

Found with sharkiefan.
Had done the projections at home in prep for this trip. I thought it should have been a quick grab. sadly my eyes must have been painted on my this stage of the day as I had looked over GZ a number of times. with out finding the good.
and with one look by sharkiefan the banter started. Yes sometimes I think I do need a lend of glasses to see the smilies.

In Bendigo today enjoying the first day of Spring and the sunny day it has produced, in the company of McLookers, with the aim of working our way through some of the local multi's, especially the Oh 9 series. With the sun making its way down for another day we kept on working through our list on the outskirts of town.
Leaving the projection to the male triton ( I've never done it) we found ourselves in a logical area looking for the hollow nook. Once found we added our names to the logbook and continued on our merry way.
Thanks Phetlern for showing us our bearings!

A bit of an exercise using a method not often used for us. We got our numbers and the search was on at GZ. The Tritonz came up with the goods. Thanks Phetlern.
Suscoe enjoyed a terrific day wandering the streets of Bendigo.
It was a perfect day for Autumn, loads of sun, a gentle breeze at times and those deciduous trees with lots of colour.
We enjoyed a range of finds from street hides, wanders in the bush and around some water.
We saw a few roos and a deer just walking slowly across a road.
We do like Bendigo and we always enjoy a visit to this delightful and historic city.
Thanks to Phetlern for this lesson in all things stepping and direction.
We were concerned for a while as the container was not visible.
Finally found this one buried under termite dust and muddy stuff.
So log signed and all was good under the coating of nature.

Found today with Tamzy, Mikidos and Holzcotz, after getting our bearings it was a lovely stroll on a cool but fine day to get to the final hiding spot, nice quick find, container and contents in good order TNLN TFTC, enjoyed the walk in the area before heading back to Nathalia once more.
I came out to this area a little while back but couldnt work out how to get to the final. Got home and worked it out but hadn't had time to come back out until today. Got to WP1 and realised that I had forgotten how to get to the next WP! Some quick searching on smart phone soon had us back on track and we took the short stroll to the final. Cache found quickly and in good order! TFTC
No maintenance required here!
A lovely sunny winters morning, (7°c, best place at present is in the NH), tempted us to pay a visit to one of our favourite local hides, and as we suspected we found the container safely in its niche just waiting to be found!
We also scored a bonus by being here at this time as a new cache was published less than 3 kms away on the way home!

I might have just been really bad at finding it. But I found the exact coordinates and everything matched the hint. We looked everywhere around it, and we still couldn't find it. We suspect that it was in a stump.
We found the a spot that matched the description and hint. It was 174m at 156*T. it may have been taken. We think it was in a hollow stump. Can someone let me know if it's meant to be there.
Staying in Bendigo for a week, to pick up a few caches in the area.
A little warm today, so parked the geo-cruiser in the shade.
Geo-hubby stood at the given co-ords, while geo-wife headed in the direction he indicated.
When the desired distance was reached, hand signals given, and a couple of loud directions shouted,
geo-wife found the cache in the first placed that she looked. Gotta be fun, when it's that easy.
T: coin, L: tiny skate board.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Phetlern, for us and others to find.

Found on a cool and damp morning. I started again from scratch after a few false readings. Got it this time with new app and appreciate assistance from Cache owner with this one. Was right on it many times and couldn't find it. All good after the heavy rain.pencil needs sharpening and I had nothing to fix it. Had own pen so log signed. Initially I was, Oh !!, ignoring this cache because it was listed as a "MULTI" [:o]
But hey !!
I had ridden the pushbike this close to the start coords and curiosity got the better of this cat
Well wadda you know !!
I do not even have to ride to them coords,
I soon worked out a better spot to head for [^]
In the end this was a very pleasant bonus cache of the day on my bike ride around Ballarat, er... Bathurst .... no wait ... um (where am I again ?) .... BENDIGO
Geez I always get those three mixed up

One of 40 finds for the day, caching on the way to and around the Bendigo area with three of my kiddies. I had with me, Jasmine 8yo, James 6yo and Jemma 6yo for the day. Left home at about 6am and didn't return home until about 9pm, a big day time wise and kilometer wise with about 550kms driven. There was some 4WD action in the GeoExplorer as well on quite a few caches, one in particular, a nice boggy area, that the mud tires came in very handy for. Kids loved it... Awesome stuff...
At about 1pm, met up with one of my best mates Richard aka XD1 and from there, found a few caches around Bendigo and headed to Tigersden's event "International Geocaching Day", east of Bendigo. A good gathering after we finally got there about an hour late. Caught up with many friends there, and then headed off to complete the "geo-art Smiley series" placed by Tigersden, all around the general area of the event. Great series BTW. Was able to complete the entire series caching in convoy with XD1, Haveanez, DazRascal, Lostmonster and Co, Purpledreamer and Wazza and Wenches. Had a great time guys caching in the bush..... To all cache owners, inparticular, Tigersden, thanks for all the caches, the kids and I had a great time.
Solved this one at home in the week before the trip. Met up with XD1 here, and we both went to GZ for a nice quick find. XD had it in no time. Love the bushland here, having spent a lot of time going to Heathcote, it is very similar. TFTC.

used gps in general direction for distance and worked at that radius until nick found it thanks for the cache
Found today at 10.30am. I used GPS and compass but initially went off in the wrong direction until I remembered how to use the compass. I enjoyed the challange.
I used an iPhone app to calculate the final coordinates, it all worked out and I found myself in a pretty spot amongst all the trees. The cache was found without much trouble, a bit easier than some other tough Phetlern ones
Good hide and use of compass work. I enjoyed this multi. Took "cache reaper" geocoin, left toy lizard. TFTC.
1520. Yabbyers packed up just after we parked. Easier to use our Silva compass from earlier orienteering than the GPS electronic. A+ followed the bearing beautifully and the GPS distance tracker was spot on so 'twas an easy find. A family arrived just after I restashed the cache. Popular spot. But watch for broken glass if you park off road.
TN left Jeep travel bug 'Bertilda'. Very appropriate given the state of the road, at least from northern end, nearly requires a Jeep. TFTC

Found this one on the second try. It's so much easier with a bit of sunlight! The cache is a bit small for a swap, but a great location for a quite lunch time hike.
Thanks Peter and Helen for showing me a feature of my GPSr that I hadn't had the need to use before. Arrived at GZ and set the direction and distance then off I went. Arriving at the designated waypoint I surprised myself to be standing right beside the hidden cache. Retrieved, logged and replaced with no exchanges made. TFTC
Good cache, something different having to navigate from the road. Cache in good condition after a lot of rain that recently fell over the last 3 or so days. Box was high enough and everything inside was dry.
This was a weekend away with Team Crackers and a Bendigo event added for a bonus find.
Today was another day in trying to bring some cache logs up to date.
Our apologies to the cache owner but there has been many issues that have slowed us down and hopefully once all our caches are up to date we will log on the go. the last cache of 13 for today. My thanks for the cache.

Found again by Roma and Max at the new location.
We are pleased to report that once again your projection options worked for us, placing us within a few metres of an obvious hiding niche.
Even though there was plenty of water flowing past in the nearby track depression your container was now safe and dry.
Thank you Peter for maintaining this interesting cache concept.

well after seaching twice with no cigars... I noticed the found.. I was riding by and thought i'd have another quick look.. what do ya know it was where I had been looking. must have been buried quite a bit. the cache still had a little water left over, the hide will be quite a bit drier how it was positioned now. thanks

Hmmmmm . . . . . we think this one must be sitting some sort of a hidden water course! So off line until we can recalculate to a dryer location.

10th find of the day, and 2448th total find at 13:14.
We've spent an enjoyable day with the Morris and RobMc driving around Bendigo. We've cleared out a fair amount of caches today - and had a great time doing it.
Unfortunately the cache was full of water, we dried it out as best we could and re bagged the surprisingly dry log book.

Found with Ian-and-Penny and Robmc who completed all the necessary calculations with their flash GPSrs. Off for a short walk to GZ where the cache was soon located - unfortunately it was filled with water. Drained and dried and the log book was dry in its bag. No exchanges but it was nice to visit a bit of the bush we hadn't been to before.
As both The Morris and Ian & penny have mentioned, the logbook was doing backstroke when we arrived, and going down for the third time!
The rain had made a torrent across GZ, and filled the cache container.
Interesting road in in the wet, and nice projection with new GPS's.
Thanks, Robmc.

Sorry Team Ladava but I found it You will be happy to know that it wasn't easy to find and I was very lucky to stumble across it while walking back over my steps. I just happened to glimpse it from a different angle and then I realised where it was.

Oh dear, I must add my name to the tiny list of those unsuccessful searchers for this one.
I attacked the process with confidence as I was sure I had the principle of back bearings and the trusty etrex was ideal for the job.
However, alas I only came up with charcoal on my hands after the brief search time allocated by the better half.
After such a small elapsed time since the owner replaced it must be there.
My only faint hope of retained dignity is that there seemed some indication of recent flooding and it may have floated away but it is only a faint hope.
I will put a watch on it and suffer the embarrassment when it is next found and they log 'easy find' Ohhhh.
Cheers

The advantage of working with mapping software is that I could calculate the location of GZ before I left home .
I went for a long walk and I am now covered in black ash but I had a successful venture. The container has water in it and there is a rusty calculator in the bottom, but the logbook is dry. TFTC

Love the bearings - always enjoyed myself BUT still search until found it phew!!! SL. Thanks Phetlern for organising the multi and hunt.

Ashes have cooled and weakened trees have fallen, so this cache container is now back in its location. Most likely easier to locate as most of its cover has been removed.

What a run of bad caching we had this afternoon Although we did the "bearing and distance" thing, we searched for quite a while with no luck. So we started again and did the "back bearing" thing and searched in the same general area some more, every likely looking hollow and nook but no luck.
This was cache # 36 of 41 for the day, in the company of Alansee on our tour of Bendigo. I always struggle with these bearing caches after all a bearing is for use in wheels, thankfully Alan is good at maps and bearings and all things related. My thanks to Phetlern for the cache.
The problem with these types of caches is that you have the problem of the normal variance at wp1, then the same thing at gz - so you can be a long way out! However all worked out well for us although we did have a bit of a search until we made the find.
Found by Mary & David at 1230. The engineer got his bearings straight away and headed off. The water feature was looking so interesting with the water blending in with the banks, and highlighted by sculptural elements of reeds. Our thanks once more to Phetlern.
Found this with the help of Hanseeka's husband demo of how to use this function on his gps, Found it easily with 379jonti379 son. What a lovely little billabong so brown with plants in the centre, I didn't know this existed, loved it. Thanks Kaztrekka SL.

Thanks Phetlern for this caching variant.
Gave me a chance to use a previously un-used feature of my GPS.
Although 1st go was unsuccessful and due to time restraints we had to come back the next day for another go.
I found I was out by about 30 degrees on the previous day, so that put us along way off at 174m.
This time our plotted point was within 6 metres of hide.
Thanks again for a fun alternative.

Getting our bearings on this wet winter's day was the easy part as we sat in the car and projected them onto a map. We then headed off to see how accurate we where, unfortunately again the skies opened up as we were about to leave the car and although still solid underfoot we seemed to be walking through a constant flow of water making searching that little less bit pleasant. We expanded our search from the projected wpt a little with no luck and then expanded a bit further again trying to work out what we had done wrong. Diane went back to one of the places we had searched earlier and found the nice dry cache snuggly tucked away where we had missed it on our first go. We headed back to the car and just before we got there it stopped raining
Thanks Phetlern for the cache

Find # 2988 and 20th of the day at 3:21 pm. Accompanied by Feathertop on another clean up the Bendigo area. We did the projection on ozyexplorer but it somehow didnt work when we put the coords. into the GPS'r so had to just drive to GZ using ozyexplorer then found the cache. TNLN, left my mark in the log, Thanx Phetlern...
For some reason our tried and true, or magnetic method of calculating a projection via our computers failed us.
At this point we should have retreated to the posted coords for another go with the GPS's but stubborness and a clever idea from Oenze gave us another shot.
I doubt anyone else will employ our methods here but they reaped dividends with the discovery of a very well concealed cache.

I was surprised to see there weren't more finders in the log book. Perhaps the newer cachers in the area may need to be taught a few tricks with their GPS units, it makes tasks like this much easier! I found the cache pretty close to my calculated coords, pretty happy with that. The cache was well hidden and well stocked, it was all I could do to cram a TB in!
Cheers, a nice cache idea for this area.

1.00pm
Found by Roma and Max in the company of Bevfre, Bev and Fred
We decided today that a team effort may be required to overcome any technical difficulties that could arise in this search!
Because we set off without our laptop and its mapping we did manage to approach GZ by a much more devious route than you intended!
However we are pleased to report that both your suggested options for the final approach were spot on. Fred chose the magnetic compass option and Max used his GPSr. This proved to be the perfect combination.
We both arrived at a point less than 3m from the object we sought.
A short search revealed your well hidden container and a combined FTF.
We signed the log and made no exchange.
Thank you Peter and Helen for this hide and for the series we look forward to each month.
