Time to go

08-Mar-20
Earlier today I noticed the final coordinates for this multi had been provided by the CO. So stopped by today to check out the GZ. Arrived there along the new path and steps but could not find any object that matched with the hint. Checked in a few places where a regular cache might be hidden. But nothing leapt out at me. So reluctantly had to leave.

25-Nov-18
Until I get a chance to reset this, those searching for it can find the final at
S 41° 6.762' E 174° 52.398'

28-Sep-18
The CO needs to check this one out. The number of slats > 100.

28-Sep-18
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

29-Jul-17
I had at look at this one today. You can access the path from above and there was no one working here today. There was one problem however. There is just one bridge within 100m of the GZ and it has >100 slats on it. So unless my definition of slats is different to every other finder, it is not possible to calculate the coordinates. Might pay for CO to check up on this. Cheers GSEL

10-Jun-17
Path is temporarily closed for repairs.

04-May-17
Please note the path to the posted coordinated is officially closed as sections of it are being moved. One can get to the bridge from the top without encountering workmen as the work is further along the track.

Got the numbers I was after and calculated the final gz. Couldn't get to it without encountering workmen. So checked if there was another way to the final. This was in the open section of the walkway. Quickly retrieved the container thanks to the clue. Please note the log book is very damp but still managed to write in it. Otherwise all in order. TFTC

14-Feb-17
Day #365 of a 366 day streak challenge. This is an easily completed multi - simple arithmetic and and easily accessible final location.

The cache had about an inch of water in it when I found it - given its location it's difficult to see how so much could have got in by natural means. I dried everything out as best I could in the time I had available but the log book is still very wet. A little CO attention is probably in order.

02-Oct-16
I was up here yesterday when I did the counting part but it was drizzly so I retreated to the car to do the maths. But the solution put it somewhere in Pakakowhai which I knew wasn't right. Tried again with adjacent numbers and got a better solution - evidently I can't count. While I was doing that it started raining really hard so I abandoned for the day. Came back today to look for the cache. Couldn't see it anywhere but I could see a good hiding place. I had to speculatively do a blind reach and hope nothing was living back there. Felt something plasticy and pulled it out. Contents was quite wet but the log was *just* writable. The pencil was amusingly deformed by the water as per picture.

20-Aug-15
No problems here today with the counting or the maths, and a quick find of the container at the final location.
A good excuse for an enjoyable stroll on a sunny morning. Thanks very much for the cache.

Nice and fast multi cute hiding place TFTC

02-May-15
#1777 Parked close by and wandered down- soon decided which bridge to count and had numbers scrawled up my arm. A short while later, had the cache in hand. Had a giggle at a couple of the 'logs' from muggles who were blazing up a storm and happened upon the cache. Removed the bag with remnants of the green stuff to ensure cache is both family friendly and also not a suspected spot for a drug drop. TFTC!

25-Apr-15
Great morning for a walk. A quick stroll down to stage 1, a bit of counting and a bit of simple maths. Coords spot on and easy find. Thanks for the cache.

11-Apr-15
My fourth multi of the day! (which came as a relief after failing on two other multis just beforehand). My GPS pointed me towards the wrong bridge which I soon realised as there were too many numbers to do the maths with. Another quick count, and some maths later I had some coordinates that didn't look wrong so off I went. Arrived at the final and given the size of the cache there was really only one place it could be, which turned out to be a correct assumption. Some interesting entries in the log book... TFTC

30-Nov-14
It was very tranquil on this path today with no other users to be seen. I made a mistake with the maths which led us to see more of the walkway than was required. I soon discovered where I went wrong and we wandered back to make an instant find.

20-Nov-14
Didn't take long too long to figure out the GZ location and then the cache was in hand shortly after! Smile Thanks very much, lovely walk.

20-Nov-14
Thanks for the cache! found with wafflekitties!

14-Oct-14
Quick solve at WP1 and even quicker find at the final. Breezy sunny day today and a nice pic taken along the way. TFTC

02-Sep-14
I had some fun with this one! Made it to WP1 and did the counting, no problem. Unfortunately I made a small error with the maths and scratching my head when the GPS pointed 40m down a steep bank. sat down and worked it out again.. turns out I added where I should have multiplied. Gah! After fixing it, cache was found quickly with the helpful hint Smile TFTAdventure!

16-Jun-14
Another early-morning raid over the hill before work. Had collected the required info the previous week, and calculated the final from the comfort of home. All quiet in the dark ... good thing I had my head-lamp. Funny reading the tags and "logs" by non cachers. At least they had the common decency to return the cache to it's hidey hole. Some good views from up here in daylight ... and not too bad this morning.

TFTC!

27-Apr-14
A lovely walk with a nice view even a concrete path to keep the wife happy. No trouble with the calculation but I did have a double take as I noticed something when I moved off the bridge. (You probably all sorted that out first).

05-Apr-14
After a string of multi dnfs the other day this was one of the few closest to home. Shame it was in the opposite direction to the event but on a multi streak so it won on the day. Tranquil walk and pleased that I could count and got the math right on the first go. Cache visible at GZ so tucked away even deeper so hidden from muggle view. Very quiet here today and didn't meet anybody either. Probably all cooking dinner.

15-Mar-14

Easy find on a walkway I had not been on before. Nearly got run over by a bike but apart from that very Tranquil. TFTC

Beautiful day and a nice stroll. Maths OK and a nice easy find. I to found an easier way back to the road Smile. Many thanks

03-Dec-13
A quick stroll, count the slats, and then stroll some more, et voila! Tucked the cache away a little more as it was visible when I found it, but contents intact. TFTC

14-Sep-13
Here on a very encouraging September spring day. That was good.
The cache find was not difficult once we had done the figuring. A good view and we noted that theer had been some interesting log entries probably not made by geocachers.
Log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.

Find #145 for the BAMMJams - found the cache exactly where we expected it to be. Master 4 was even kind enough to let Master 2 "find it first", with a little guidance (it's really nice to see these little geocachers get into the spirit of it all!). The mini-BammJams chose a golf ball to take out, and replaced it with a dice. TFTC.

Smashed it.
Looks like local tough kids have found as log book got Tags in it.
At least they didnt damage/remove it.

23-Sep-12
An interesting walkway with good views, though bloody steep at the start.
A nice easy find at the final, and took an alternative route back to the road so didn't have to face the steep uphill section.

#4130. We were pleased to find that the track more or less followed a contour line (and didn't drop down into the valley below). Good views, and a quick find. TFTC.

Solved a while ago, but geokids spotted the completion.

Got there tonight.

Quick find while doing a few in the area. Great views around here today.

Nice pathway on a brilliant morning. Easy find, and ran into some fellow geocachers on the way. Swapped TBs. TFTC!

21-Jan-12
I had fun with this one today. Found a neat green rattle that I liked. Met some other geocachers on the way back who let me pet their doggy. Log book will say Purple Butterfly, because that's what I wanted to call myself, but someone else had the name. Sad TFTC!

A nice location on a nice walkway. I had retrieved the required numbers some time ago so thought that it was high time that I popped back to complete the paperwork. I wasn't going to take Electro Man as these bigger TBs can be harder to place but I decided that he has been sitting here long enough.

Out with Mrs.G and our two canine friends on a lovely morning. Totally different view this side of the watershed, back towards where our rellies used to live. Clue and coords spot on, maths correct, nice 'n' easy.

Tried it yesterday but got the math horribly wrong. Went home, had a beer and did the math properly and went out this morning with the family. Crazy thing was, was sat down in the right place yesterday while doing a bit of scouting. Sheesh! TFTC

30-Dec-10
Second cache for the afternoon while out with the youngest for some fresh air. Ascertained the number required and did the calculations which said go that away - some distance. A gentle stroll in the heat soon had us at a tranquil resting place to take a breather. Quick find and cache soon in hand. Dried the container out, little bit of water inside, and completed honours on the log. All good. Thanks for the views and the walk. TFTC.

17-Oct-10
#140! Yay! Math was simple and sweet, and we soon arrived at the cache location. And tada! Interesting little walk through another part of the Whitby area. Spied a possible cache location from afar on the return route... perhaps next month Wink. SL TFTC!

16-Oct-10
I am so rubbish at Maths! Our 1st calculation took us all the way to the end of the walkway, into the middle of a grassy reserve and staring down a steep bank towards some new sections. Our 2nd attempt took us back along the walkway... and off down a little track down a steep bank, into the manuka and under a possum trap. Not sure that this was what was meant by "tranquil resting place"! Realised on reading the clue that we had it wrong again, so walked back along the walkway using our geocaching intuition... and found it! Who needs coords anyway! TFTC!

19-Sep-10
Never knew about the walkways in this area before, really well done, but quite slippery in parts due to runoff from the clay banks. A lovely morning for this one and I enjoyed the walk.

Visited to grab Geotalk Geocoin so we could take it on our travels but coin no longer there - needs to be logged by someone !

Visitors to this area and we never knew a walkway with views like this could be here. We were here about 4pmish and no geocoin to be seen.. . I could see the cache but my husband had longer arms than me so he retrieved it Smile. TFTC

Not too tranquil with 4 excited junior EU cachers racing around! Enjoyed the maths puzzle though. TFTC

04-Oct-09
This sounds like fun! Off we dashed, heading down to the bridge and in our excitement to get the answers began counting all the slats until we hit almost 100. Uh, oh… This can't be right... Consulted cache description and realized that we actually had to *use* the GPS Red Face. Back tracked slightly, started the count again and just as we got the correct answer it began to rain. Made a quick dash back to the car. By the time we did our calculations, the rain had stopped so we continued the hunt. After finding a few small and micro caches, this cache size was a refreshing change. Zero metres from GZ for us was halfway up the stairs, but fortunately one of us spotted the obvious spot, and rather than going by the GPSr, we knew exactly where to look. Great hiding spot. Thanks CrystalFairy for a fun multi that can still be enjoyed by all the family despite the less-than-perfect weather.

03-Oct-09
Was completing some puzzle caches in the area and saw this one pop up 56m from where I was parked. Got to GZ and realised I'd left my pen in the car but managed to do the maths anyway. Must have got it right as I managed to find the cache after a pleasant walk, sheltered from the prevailing wind. TFTC, I'm enjoying these and the others.
