Passed through the top viewpoint last November and took some readings. Just couldnt make any sense. Next visit came on 10 July after work. Try again and ah, my potential answers made more sense once solved at home.Caught a bus late yesterday and walked to GZ. Spent 15 mins in the dark, using my illuminating TOTT. Failed so my coords not yet right? On the way home in a train, spotted my computational error. Thanks to one PAF. Came back here tonight and it was a quick find. Again in the dark, to reflect the original method ~ a night cache. Thanks tronador for creating this cache 15 years ago for everyone to enjoy.
We had a DNF on this a few years ago when it was a night cache, but since then the CO has kindly changed it to this multi. After arriving at WP1 and getting the year, I then pondered how I would fit 4 digits into 3, and finally had an option to do some Maths. But since my retirement, I now have senior's moments more frequently, and today this was a clanger of a moment! I somehow managed to get a GZ over 2km away, which I knew was wrong. Then after an other go I realised I had failed the most basic of Maths steps, and forgot to carry a one! That's better. So off to GZ, for a quick find as the cache is a little exposed. After signing the slightly damp log book, I managed to find enough natural camo to cover it completely, but it looks like the original log has decayed a lot over time. A nice walk through the reserve, and now to climb all those steps back to the carpark. TFTC
Another day OCW Oldmorty and we took on the Northmead area. On the way home we stopped here at Carlo. An easy decent after solving the simple maths. Found and signed with not a soul in sight. TFTC!
Walked in and down and down until we reached gz where morty8888 soon spied the prize. Morty8888 must have heard my grumblings on the way down as he offered to walk back up to the car and drive around and pick me up on Evans Road. Hallelujah. TFTC tronador.
The new numbers here were worked out and we came along with ilook4geo to find the container. Searched around the area and then noticed what we wanted. Log was signed and all was replaced as found. We also happened on a GA cache while we were poking around, but simply replaced that one. Thanks go to tronador for this cache hide.
Made a nice easy find here with goingplaces2 and both names were added to the log to record our visit. It was a nice one, especially as it is now a simple offset multi. TFTC.
I was bright eyed and bushy tailed to find this one quickly today. TFTC Tronador
After logging a Needs Maintenance on this cache 2 months ago I've been checking the blue frown on my geomap. I noticed the CO, Tronador had completed the maintenance so decided to return asap which should have been the following week as I come out here every week.
But you know it rains every Thursday!
So my travels to Carlo have not happened.
Today was a lovely sunny winter's day so here I am. Of course I could not find my notes from my previous visit so started the cache again.
This time I found the final prize without a problem. The logbook is slightly damp but is OK to sign.
I have done the entire Ponds Walk with my previous Geodog. It took 3 trips to complete as he wasn't old enough to drive so we had to walk and return to our starting point of each leg. We enjoyed it so I enjoyed returning and doing at least part of the walk again.

We returned today after a DNF in August 2020. That visit was in daylight and was more of a reccy but we must have been very close. When we read that the CO had rejigged the multicache due to lots of overgrowth, we thought we’d revisit this fascinating piece of bush. Fresh and green on a crisp Queen’s Birthday holiday, we enjoyed the walk to GZ and spotting the places we had been too before. We even stopped at the frog pond to watch the birds for a little while. There are some big old trees still around including one that marked the way into GZ. All good there. SL TFTC Cheers… Gaztek
Thank you to Jackscruff for the needs maintenance log. When I placed this cache in 2009 the area around GZ was well maintained and free of invasive plants. Vegetation changes over 12 years, and the area around here is almost unrecognisable. The lantana has completely invaded the area, so much so that the beautiful track and the nearby frog pond is being swallowed and the track is no longer passible. I pushed my way through thick undergrowth that was not there 12 years ago, and retrieved the cache. It had well and truly become over run. While the 3 markers are still there, they are almost overgrown with lantana. While pushing through the thick lantana I thought, to myself would I like other cachers to do this and my answer was no. This would not be fun. So I made the decision to relocate the cache. It is no longer a night cache and I have not replaced the tacks. The area no longer lends itself to this type of hide. It is now a simple multi as I can't edit the cache type. I've cleaned out the cache as best as I could but will need to return to restock and possibly add a new log book even though the one there is still ok, it was a little damp.
The cache is now findable, you do not need to push through lantana or need a machete. I will work out a better solution to try and replace the firetacks and reinstall it as a night cache but for now, the cache is available as is and there is a good track most of the way to GZ.

I've been back twice with no luck.
The required tacks on trees appear to be missing. Maybe on the fallen trees or maybe the trees have shed their bark and the tacks too.
Need to be replaced to guide us to the cache.

Four cachers spent considerable time searching for this one.
WP1 was quickly found and the information gathered, calculations done and off we went to WP2 which we all agreed upon.
It was hard to see any side track with the growth of lantana in the area. We could not find a single tack on the trees. We've had many storms this year and there are many fallen trees around WP2 - are these the ones with the tacks?
This cache urgently needs some CO love and attention.

Along with a previous finder we were unable to see the initial 2 tacks after doing the calcs from the posted WP. We found the frog pond, but from there we were unable to make progress. The area has becone quite overgrown with lantana and fallen tress. We didn't see any tacks at all, so abandoned our hunt in the end. A check might be needed to see if they are still there.
Got info at WP1, calculated WP2, walked there, found the frog pond, but no fire tacks to be seen. Lantana has overgrown most of the side tracks here. I'll come back another day with a machete.
This was an absolute blast of a cache.
I made my attempt over three nights - venturing out at twilight enabled me to make some observations before darkness took over.
The trip from wp2 was tough with only some of my way guided by visible markers and lantana growth making for some trips and scratches. After scouting out from wp2 three times I managed to take a spill face to face against the gz marker.
Then a scout around the surrounds had me close but it wasn't until CO kindly aided me with a hint that I could return to the final coords the following night and make the find. Right where I had been looking of course!
This cache had it all for me - adventure, nature and a small tinge of fear as I rambled solo in the dark.
Thanks tronador and adding an FP for this swell journey!

We happened to be nearby for Remembrance Day 2017 and equipped for a night cache in Lane Cove. Perfect, we’ll check out Bright Eyes. One small problem.. it was daylight. We decided to take a walk anyway. What a surprise - such a large bush area and so steep. Today the native frangipani was on the edge of blooming and provided a lovely subtle fragrance as we walked along. We made our way to WP2 and identified a small side track. We tried to spot little firetacks but had absolutely no luck. We enjoyed the frog pond and poked around a bit to see what we could find but nothing popped up. Never mind, we did have a nice time looking around. Cheers... Gaztek
Replacing my DNF with a note, as we didn't give it a solid go, so it wasn't really a DNF
Couldn't find this one tonight with Mineek. But we didn't get too far.
After trying some different paths and bits of bush around wp2, we went back to the first one we saw that looked like it was probably a good option.
After lots of searching around with torches we spotted what we were 90% sure was one of the markers! Progress!
Although the way was blocked by at least 4 large spiders/webs that we could see. And Mineek is terrified of spiders. (Probably not the best cache to come to in hindsight haha)
We decided to call it a night there, and avoid the spiders. I'll have to come back some time and give it a go!

We ended up finding one of the last markers first and working our way back to the pond. We doubled back to the first marker and ended up finding the cache not too far from there. Note: Here is a photo of the little pricklies we got from the shrubs.
#1612 met up with alnic39, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC at about 5.30 in the car park. Still about an hour of darkness to use the torches so off to WP1 to gather the required information to get us to WP2 or to confirm that what I had worked out was correct. So off we headed to WP2 which didn't take long as it is all downhill. But this is where the planning all went astray none of us could find 2 tacks at the beginning & not knowing where the frog pond was we went in the wrong direction, on one side track almost walked into a large spider so went back to WP2 to try the other track.
This proved a little bit more success as after a bit of sweeping with the torches a firetack lit up, then from there we spotted another "we are on our way" however that was short lived as we didn't find anymore. We spread out but couldn't find another one. So we went back to the last one we found and had a bit of a search and found the cache in the second place we looked.
Signed the log and replaced as found. The log is damp but is able to be signed. Thanks for the multi tronador

Out for an early morning cache run with phlphotos, alnic39 and JJCC before we had to head for Windsor for some Australia Day celebrations. This was one of our main target caches for the day in order to fill in some requirements for a challenge cache series (USG) down in Canberra.
We meet up with phlphotos and alnic39 in the carpark and proceeded to work our way through the tasks at hand. Unfortunately even with four torches we hand some issues finding the tacks, but eventually spotted something something that gave us some hope in continuing the hunt...and then another tack was also spotted. This was the last tack we spotted and after a good search we headed back to the second one we found and had a look around when phlphotos found the cache container. With the cache in hand, we all signed the damp log before replacing as found. Thanks for the night cache tronador.
The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust) & Vanlith The Youngling.

OCW Alephroom. So we quickly did our sums and then headed off in search of WP2. We had a DNF at a nearby night cache so we were adamant about not letting this one elude us too. Initially we struggled to find the path to the frog pond but eventually we heard them and knew we were headed in the right direction. Funnily enough, we were traipsing in the bush blindly unable to find any of the tacks but mistaking the sap for them! Finally we found a tack and as we made our way we spotted the magic vertical line of tacks! Not bad considering we missed the majority of tacks! Alephroom made a quick find once we knew where to look. What do you know, we both only very recently celebrated finding our first container like this and were ecstatic to find another within a couple of days of our last finds! Log signed and cache replaced. Now, how do we get back out... TFTC!
Located at 10:11pm. OCW Coastblue. We had dnf’d a nearby night cache but still descended upon this cache with enthusiasm. We worked out the coordinates and headed on our way into the darkness. Locating GZ was an effort and we toiled around with quite a few possibilities before finally hitting the mark. Great hide and an excellent container. Спасибо! תודה! L’chaim! TFTC Tronador!

Got carried away watching the cricket today and before I knew it, it was time for dinner. OK - so that makes it a great opportunity to grab a night cache. Parked at the recommended spot and gathered the required info. After some quick maths, I was off to the next waypoint. I wasn't 100% sure which direction the frog pond would be but after a short search, spotted the first reflectors. They were easy enough to follow but then they seemed to stop. After scouting in several directions, I spotted the faint glow of three in a row and knew I was close. Didn't take long to get my name in the slightly damp log from there. Rescued TB to keep it moving along. Haven't done a night cache for a while and enjoyed the experience.

Found this one after a short search. It seems the starting point is popular with lovers who have nowhere else to go. The log is a little damp but otherwise all good at the cache. Thanks Tronador for the placement Cheers
tftc, we found this cache a few nights ago uding the sadly now retired superior older app. RIP best app ever. had some troubles thinking we were on the right track but after not seeing this duck pond at the end of the track we regrouped and tried a different area. The grass had grown over the track to the point it wasn't a track any more. hot tip, phone torches are not really good enough to illuminate the markers. after getting lost a few times i tripped over the cache much to my delight, then found the final triple marker after logging. epic cache. favourite point from me
I've walked a lot of The Ponds walk but never started at this end so was keen to try this Nicght Cache.
After reading the description I saw that there was a fair amount of it off the path so I was reluctant to try it solo in the pitch black....I arrived just before the sun started to set and collected the required info.
Down I went, darker and deeper to WP2, then on to the pond and followed the markers........not too far away I came across the magic three and made a quick find.
Love a cache this size

Find # 1031. Found at 8:02pm.
I set out to do the night cache 'Bright Eyes' along with a few others nearby this evening. I was trying to time it so that it wasn't too dark while I rummaged around the bush so as the sun was just beginning to set I headed over to WP1 to start the journey. I do remember coming here once before and deciding to bail out as it was too dark but I had forgotten that I'd solved WP2's coordinates. I solved it again nonetheless and up came a logical point on my map. When I arrived at WP2, I was a bit confused and initially went down the wrong path taking a slightly more conservative approach but 50m into that I realised I was probably in the wrong area given there were no tacks to be seen.
I corrected myself and found the right path where I spotted two tacks and from there I managed just fine. A few swivels with the torch ensured I made it to GZ where I made the find, and what a good cache it is!
Signed log, thanks for a great night cache tronador.

Found with great assistance from Mr MR, who had previously solved the puzzle and spotted it in the daytime without using the night lights. Quickly signed the log as we were out walking with some muggles who profess no interest in the great sport of Geocaching. TFTC.
Streak day 26 of trying to complete my calendar - today was another crazy day at work, though I was at least able to take my lunch break. After work came the usual Thursday night trek out to Parramatta. It's a worthwhile trek though as it means I get to have dinner with my dad. Tonight we went to another Mediterranean grill style place with delicious food. After dinner I walked dad home, relaxed for a while then figured it was late so I should head home. I was initially planning on doing a night cache that was published recently, but when I looked it up again found it was actually a bit out of my way. So looking up other caches with night in the description, this one caught my eye as it was a place I could pass heading home. At this time of night I was able to get an easy park near waypoint one. It was very interesting read about the history of the area. I sat down to work out the coordinates for waypoint two, then remembering the note about having good shoes ducked back to the car to change mine. It was only a short jog to find waypoint two. I was unsure if I was in the right spots, but I soon saw the telltale glimmers that would lead me to the cache. A short while later I had located the end of the trail. My eyes quickly alighted on a likely hide and sure enough I soon had CIH. I signed the log whilst marvelling at the original log then grabbed the trackable to move on to somewhere a little more visited. Whilst walking back up to the car I started my log, but my imagination kept distracting me wondering if anyone could be lurking out there in the dark. I probably shouldn't have been watching criminal minds before coming caching in the dark on my own. My imagination has a field day dreaming up wired scenarios. Thankfully I made it safely back to my car where I completed me log. I should help home, but I think I might grab one more cache nearby since it's a date hidden that I am missing. Thanks for bringing me to this interesting spot. TFTC.
Tonight our little group made an attempt at a number of night caches seeing as there aren't many in Sydney, we thought we could get three done in one evening. 1 find so far, 1 DNF, but I had high hopes for success on this one. Found the car park (and Team MavEtJu) and headed over to the first WP. Got the data but needed to collaborate on how to arrive at the correct coords. Once we felt comfortable with our numbers we headed on down the pathway. We made it and promptly spotted the markers required, a little bit this way, a little bit that, and then where could that container be? Ah ha! Didn't expect to find that. Contents a bit damp, as was the log, but still signable. On the way out I veered a little to see the frog pond (would have been disappointed not to see it) but the natives were quiet tonight. Once we made it back up the top we paused for a hot chocolate and a bikkies at the lookout and took a moment to watch the twinkling lights of the city. A fav point for the best night cache of the evening. Very well done tronador, thanks!
I felt much more comfortable about approaching this night cache as the path was very clear and as I'd worked out how to use the headlamp, it was pretty easy. Didn't take long to arrive at GZ and the team was pleased with our nightly activity.
After the last night cache being a DNF I was keen for this one to go our way. The group sorted out the maths and we headed down the path. Found one marker, but the next one was a little buried by fallen branches. We established that this one was meant to be found from the path, we'd just come at it the wrong way. No matter, we continued on with the last set of markers quite difficult to make out as they looked sunburned. Made the happy find and headed back to the car park for refreshments.
"Come with me", she said, "and we'll go some night caches!". What she didn't tell me was that these were on the other side of the George river and, to make things worse, the M4 motorway. It was in the Hills district!
We, well... I, had some troubles finding the access to the parking area but once that one was overcome we found the necessary data for the next waypoint. There we found the first two markers and then a short trip to the final. An ammobox! Happily surprised. Dropped a travel bug and a FP.

I was heading to do "Tesla" with Delloro & Gatherer Hade, but we decided to meet near here & do this one first. I had been down this path in daylight looking for a cache last week, but this was my first "real" night cache. Nice walk down the path & Delloro had good eyes for picking up the tags. Found cache, log book is a bit damp but still signable. TFTC
Many moons ago **Celtical** and I tried to arrange a night to go for *Tesla*, but rain put paid to that, and we never rescheduled.
She contacted me and said that she and **Delloro** were going for it tonight, so I readily agreed to join them.
This was the meet up point, so I accompanied them down the track while they completed the cache - I'd grabbed it a while ago.
I can however put some trackables through it.

Have been wanting to get over here for this one and Tesla for a while, and finally got the chance tonight. Teed things up with Celtical, then Hade decided to come along for the ride as well.
I grew up about a kilometre from here, but had never been in this park before! Whilst I might have been good at spotting the reflectors, celtical came up with the goods at GZ.
Always love a good night cache!

First night cache, bit apprehensive to tackle this one, but with my best caching buddy Snickersallan and the local mozzies we grabbed this one
Quite a pleasant night to wander into the bush to look for a cache. This was my third night cache so I had the right idea as to what to expect. Found with a very terrified geo buddy Bluewattle on her first night cache experience. Thanks for bringing us here, was most enjoyable and TFTC ?
Got WP1 ages ago but only now; along with Chevs and big cheese, did I get courage to go into the bush at night.
The reflectors were incredibly hard to find even with the super bright torch but we found them... Just!
Log book and stuff inside was kind of wet.

Having done some other night caches the kids were keen to do another. We had been put off by the previous needs maintenance log but having seen KRS's found it log we headed out. All rugged up and the date for WP1 was soon found and the maths done so we headed off down the path. Once at a likely spot a shine around of the torch and soon saw the first tack. It was a little covered in leaves so gave them a bit of a trim. We soon picked up the following tacks and the double for the turn off and then followed the next set of tacks until the triple and then a quick look around to see the likely hide. Nice to see an ammo can. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC. The tacks seemed similar to other caches we have done and have found that super bright torches up close can wash out the reflections compared to lower strength torches
16/6/15. 8:32 PM. Cache #2607. Streak day #359.
With geogirl staying home from school today a little unwell, I needed to stay home too, so decided to look for a night cache after dinner, when Mrs KRS was home. Turned out to be a good choice anyway, because the weather had been foul all day but tonight was clear. I was a little apprehensive about how easy this would be - based on You_Cached_Me's log - but I trusted that my headtorch and Maglite would do the trick.
I had made a guess about the year in the question from WP1, so I had pre-loaded some coordinates for WP2. When I got here and read the sign, I saw that I had guessed wrong, but I only needed to make a small adjustment. Headed down The Ponds walk and the batteries on the headlight give in, so now I was just down to the Maglite.
Followed the rest of the instructions and saw the first makrer. YCM is right, they're not exactly bright, it was more a case of the light catching a shiny surface, possibly more so that it was wet. Still, I was able to assume a general direction based on the clearer path and in doing so I could still see the next one and so on until I got to GZ. Here I actually saw the hide (and a glimpse of the cache) just the same time as I saw the three verticals.
Opened up, signed the log and replaced. Walked back and headed for home, without any rain which was lucky (it just started up again now, as I'm typing). Great night cache, tronador - here's a fave point.
This has been my closest unfound to home since just over 3 weeks ago, when I found "Park Rules". During this time another couple of closer new ones briefly popped up ("Caching Karma's Gonna Get You" and then yesterday "MQU Earth Sciences Garden"), but these were quickly found. Now that this one has also been found, my new closest is one that was only published today ("Dragon Skin 2015 - New Beginnings"). And now I have found all multis in my home 10km. TFTC.

Found tonight with Cache_Buddee,
I won't sign it as 'found' again because i've already claimed this one and had a rough idea of where it was already. Great cache, wanted to do it again and show a new cacher.
Upon arrival of the 'tack finding', noticed that the tacks were only visible with a high performance light(mine is Led Lenser, very high output), Then noticed that with time, trees have grown and some tacks were hidden, and I had also spotted a tack that dropped off the tree and onto the floor(again, my high output torch had found that) and restuck that to a tree that it was next to. Tacks seemed missing, Out of place or affected by weather.
Still, a doable cache, but makes it very difficult and a little unsafe with the spiders and sharp sticks etc.
Extracting the cache from it's hiding spot, I had encountered a goliath of a spider, it was literally the size of the side of the cache container(the end of the container) and that's pretty big, So take extra caution when removing the cache, a coathanger with a hook on the end would work marvelously here, just to be safe.
Other than that, Thanks again for the cache.

Out on a night time adventure with snoopy and Casper and my geodogs. WP1 and WP2 were straightforward enough but we struggled to find the tacks. They seem to have lost their lustre. SL #1644 on streak day #834 TFTC dropped TB
Another fun night cache completed. Although the actual night only part wasn't very long, the whole night-cache concept is highly enjoyable.
The markers themselves were not very bright, so I was lucky I brought my caving torch to light the way. Though the hanging spiders between the trees showed up just as much.
There was a bit of water in the cache, and the log book a bit damp. It made me think that the wet plastic frog was a real one at first. I tipped the water out and put it bck into the hiding spot, before dodging the spiders on the way back out.
Thanks for the cache.

We drove to the starting point together with artemidorus1 and midmy7. artemidorus1 showed us a possum high up in a tree. We saw a few fallen trees on the way to GZ.
My dad spotted the cache when he turned around.
I picked up the Matteo goes Australia TB.

Great cache, although a couple of fallen trees have made the final push a little more difficult. Found as the second of a series of three nocturnal caches this evening with Felix the spy, monkeydoodle_k and her dad. Monkeydoodle_k grabbed the travel bug, which her dad had needed to help solve as puzzle. Loved the view of the city lights. Thanks for the cache!
Very nice cache! There were other makers near by so it had me confused but I did turn right after finding the two little yellow makers and soon I discovered the second maker which soon after CIH!! Favorite night so far!! TFTC!! -BMF-
Awesome night cache! one of my favourite too. also decided to drop travel bug hope it goes far TFTG! - BMF-
My first night cache! Thanks for the cool adventure! Went out with skybomonkeytown and it was a lot of fun
Yay! My first NSW night cache - I love that it's a Tronador cache, a CO who featured prominently in the start of my caching career, was with me for my first night cache at this year's Oz Mega, and an overall really nice person! So thanks Tronador for placing this cache. You're right - the view is great at the start, the calculations and directions were straight forward and the cache was easy to find and of a more than decent size! I've driven past here probably hundreds of times and never knew this was here - I'll come back during daylight hours and check out that frog pond! Again, thanks so much
An evening excursion to the airport was required and originally I thought I would pick up a few caches around there. But then I thought "it is dark" and I rarely cache in the dark and headed completely out of my way over here.
I took geodoggie for moral support (always good to have a friend in these situations). We calculated WP1 and headed down after missing the first turn off initially (good start!). For some reason I couldn't get Art Garfunkel out of my head as we descended into the bush. There was a large tree blocking the way at one point, and we found a nice pond. I was really happy to find the first markers, and any marker I could find after that. It took a long time to find the final 3 markers and the cache was located soon after that. Just as I opened the container it started to bucket down. I had the log and cache sheltered underneath me but a few drops dribbled on the log so I hastily signed, replaced and returned the way I had come.

Hi Tron, finally got to do this night cache of yours. I made it out here tonight with CJ after the downpours. We saw Chudles logged it last night and the coincidence was that we only just did one of his MOG's this afternoon.
This was fun. I did the homework for WP1 before heading out here with CJ. We were apprehensive about rain after the big downpour today, but the night was clear and dark. Perfect for a night cache.
After plugging in WP2 into the GPSr we found it quickly. Next was the search for the fire tacks. We found them but one of two are getting a little weather worn and not at all bright. The final three could only be seen at less than 8 metres away. The cache was in good nick and we took the blue line TB. Nice familiar and rugged container
It was fun to find another one of your caches and we really enjoy the night ones, especially with the new attribute. Thanks heaps for the cache. We enjoyed it SLLN TFTC

I'd been on a night time raid, before having to pick my daughter up at a party. Had done most of my target caches, but the remaining ones might well make me late. Stumbled across this one, and I thought it was a most appropriate cache to finish the night.
I have a very special skill. It allows me to find ambiguities, and stuff up calculations, on multis. It happens most often on those which don't have checkers. So, I was standing there trying to do step 1, I started doubting myself. But, luckily, my 'skill' wasn't working tonight, and my first guess ended up with a spot not too far away, and in a likely enough spot.
Soon enough, I managed to follow the other instructions, and signed my name in the log. Then it was off to the party, arriving with 12 mins to spare.

We did a night cache in Nelson Bay some time ago and just a couple of days ago I realised we have a similar variety not to far from home. Last night we didn't have any plans as we wanted to watch tennis finals on tv so we decided to close the evening with a little adventure.
Off we went to wp1, figured out the coords for wp2, followed instructions to where the markers started and then just looked for the little lights. Shortly we made our way to gz and found a sizeable container. SL and replaced.
Thanks tronador for an enjoyable night cache!

I enjoyed this cache in spite of the spiders and Mosquitos. It seemed more difficult to work out on my last attempt. Glad I had the solace to work it out this time.
Geocache # 1,048.
Found on Sunday, 22nd December 2013 at 1:16 AM.
Conditions: clear.
Current streak # 144 days.
Today's finds 3 of 3.
Goughy2012 and I were heading back from the T20 Big Bash match between the Sydney Sixers and the Sydney Thunder at the Sydney Cricket Ground and decided that, since the clock had struck midnight, we should see if we could bag a find for the new day while we were still out and keep the current streaks alive. It felt fitting to attempt a night cache tonight / this morning and we had been eyeing off this one for quite some time. We left the car at the parking lot at the top of the Eric Mobbs Memorial Park and collected our clue at the first waypoint before heading down The Ponds Walk track in the Carlingford Memorial Park. With torches in hand we made our way to the second waypoint and quickly spotted the said markers all the way to the final destination. Once at Ground Zero we made a quick find and soon had the Cache In Hand. We performed the signing duties before returning the cache and its cammo to the original hiding position. Signed Log, Took Nothing Left Nothing. I very much enjoyed the walk and night cache in this park but will have to return at some stage in the near future to the explore the area in more detail when there is more day light. Favourite point awarded for both the location and the night caching adventure, Thanks For The Cache tronador!

Whoo my first official night cache. I've been caching at night but nit for night caches. So pleased I have gotten this one whoooooo. After the it bash at the scg and caching around the park we thought we'd go for our Sunday cache keeping our streaks alive.
we arrived at the posted cords and did the math required. Upon venturing into the path we encounter a few spiders but not to worry nothing a trusty stick couldn't handle. Having reached our turn off we found the first markers. Taking a quick pond view stop we started in the fun part of the adventure. Using my super bright torch we had no trouble finding our path. With in seconds of finding the final marker we made the find who my first night cache complete. After making the fund I noted that this was the first time I had found this particular cache container in the wild. Have seen plenty do plastic ones but not a real one. SL and returned.

0430 GAFF2 After catching up the CO yesterday on the 4W Event I thought I would have another go at finding a specific Night Cache for the elective that I'm doing for another Challenge. This time there was no other distracting twinkles, and eventually from finding the Eyes, and following the description on the cache page I was soon at GZ. My legs were 'telling me' they needed a rest, so after a quick snooze I came back and found it in the first spot checked - don't know how I missed it at 2am!
All good with the cache.
Left: a pen, and a hand towel (forgot to bring a Correct Site Marker), but the cache was certainly nice and close to GZ.
Brought through for mileage: 3 Bros, Aust Light Houses, BEAGLE BIXBY, B 2 B ingot, Homer J TB, Iconic Bridges, Just Monkeying Around Oz, Little Moo, Lulu the Ladybug Travel Tag, PAP, Play Well, Trackabulldog, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, and trackable shirt.

My 8 year old son gave me a new backpack for Father's Day for use when night caching (complete with a dinosaur print on the front that glows at night!), and tonight was our first opportunity to test it out. We brought a friend of his along for the experience, although he got a bit scared of the dark. We parked at the top, got the details for WP2 (relieved to see it matched an openstreetmap trail), and headed down. We were soon at the waypoint, and quickly found the side trail and then the first tacks. They weren't reflecting too well, so we struggled to find the subsequent ones, but by perservering we found the set of 3, and the friend made the find in the likely place. TNLNSL, then headed back up to the car. TFTC
I decided to attempt this one in daylight hoping that the sun would provide the glints I needed.
I was soon at WP2, took the side track and had a look at the remarkable frog pond before searching for the two markers which were found fairly quickly. I set off in the direction as instructed, managed to find a couple more markers but then seemed to lose the trail. I looked around me and, as luck would have it, noticed the cache within a couple of metres of where I was standing. It was only then that I spotted the three markers.
I guess I was fortunate and naturally would suggest that this cache be done at night as designed, but the weather today was beautiful and by visiting during the day I was able to observe this wonderful environment in all its splendour.
Great fun, thanks tronador.

Yep, it's still there, still good.
First night cache following firetacks. What an interesting experience.
It went well until I got to Waypoint 2. I couldn't see the sidetrack... helps to look on the correct side of the track you're on. After that false start, spotted the right way and went looking for the next part of the adventure.
Walked along for a bit & actually spotted the 2 tacks, so I wandered off the track after adding it as a waypoint.
(Note to self at this point - probably should have had more than 10% charge on my iPhone when I wander into the bush in the dark & hope to find my way back using additional waypoints...)
Well, 5-10 metres along and no sign of the next firetack. Great. Went back to the ones I'd found and tried a different direction. Aha! Found the next one.
The rest followed fairly easily (continually waymarking my route) until I was looking at a set of 3.
Casting the torch around I saw a likely hide and had CIH.

All good to go. Cache is exactly where it has always been. The final 3 vertical tacks are still in there original location, although they were partially hidden by vines growing up the tree. I've devined the tree. Some tacks were missing but others still there. I have replaced these and added 2 lined up vertically where you should head off into the scrub. I've also updated the cache page with an additional piece of info to make it easier to know where to start searching for the reflectors. The vegetation is a little more overgrown since when this was placed, so beware the tangly vines.
Thought it would be DARK ENOUGH, but with the recent rain, and continuing drizzle there was just too many pinpoints of reflected light from the rain drops everywhere to try and have a decent go at it.
May try again, when it hasn't rained so recently, and have a stronger torch too.
May try again, when it hasn't rained so recently, and have a stronger torch too.
Just wondering if it would be worth the time for the CO to check on the status of the firetacks, or whatever was used here, as when we stopped by the raindrops were the only things that were giving any reflection. It was pretty wet and miserable, but am willing to head on back, as I'm needing to find a couple more Night Caches for a Challenge I'm doing, but this seems a bit sketchy at the moment.
Checked this one out at night. A nice walk and quite straight forward getting to the first waypoint.
From there, had some trouble because the reflectors are no longer particularly reflective, and they are furthur from each other than expected.
Ended up wandering around until we picked up a reflector and then followed it through to the cache.
Glad we found this one, watch out for the pond.
Thanks for the cache!

We have looked at this cache online for some time, with the lack of recent finds we were reluctant to take the geokids out at night when the chances were not good of finding anything. But Martin Cousins find gave us hope, and we waited for school holidays to try the night cache - during the day!
So we arrived at WP2 and started looking on nearby trees, and would you believe that something shiny started gleaming at us - the sun was reflecting straight off a fire tack! From there we just kept looking for more fire tacks on trees within 10-15m of the previous tack. We managed to find 4 fire tacks using this method. We kept searching for more, all the while keeping in mind the hint about the final cache hiding place, and it was not long before we spotted the final cache about 20 me form the fourth fire tack. Huge grins all round. After we signed the log and swapped some trinkets we were about to leave and noticed we were right next to a tree with three fire tacks on it - too funny!
This was a hugely enjoyable cache Tronador, thank you.

Lengthy walk into scrub to WP2, had no trouble finding the first marker but then struggled to find the next marker. Walked many cacher trails then confused we stumbled upon the 3 marker cache. Don't know what went wrong but the end result was CIH. SL TNLN
No trouble finding WP1 and WP2 seemed like the right spot, but after a 30 minute search, attempting all directions over about 200 metres, we gave up. Just couldn't find a single fire tack. I'm sure we would have found one if we'd just stretched to 300 metres, but we're obviously a little too tired tonight to go the extra distance
Fresh from a night cache not too far from this one I felt confident. I worked out the new co ordinates from the clue and set off. I am assuming my calculations were correct (WP2 seemed a logical destination) but there were no markers visible ( assuming fire tacks or similar). Maybe they have been removed?

I don't understand how to subtract the date from cordinents is it from the south or the east I don't get it first cache like this some very angry geokids ( poor geomum)
Only the third night cache I've found but great to do something a bit different. This one was a bit of a challemge with each point not readily visible from the previous one, so all the more rewarding to complete. TFTC
My Geoteen and I have been eyeing off a few night caches for some time and given he had an enthusiastic frien over tonight, we decided to go out and hit a few of them. This was the first and a very pleasant night excursion. The first indicator took a bit to locate but after that the hunt was on.
I helped our newbie find the cache which he thought was very cool.

Heading up to Pennant Hills for a conference, but a bit early. It was getting dark so an excellent chance to finally stop here. After a quick bite of takeaway from nearby, I headed off to seek the reflections. It ended up being a quicker cache than expected, the last night cache I did took 3 hours!
Grabbed the TB, no other swaps.
Thanks for the cache Tronador!

Well, having never done a night cache, I now have done two in the one night, and they are worthwhile.
This one had me confused in parts though. WP1 & 2 were fine. At WP2 I started following the firetacks, and seemed to be off the track immediately. I never found the two beside each other indicating I should go bush, but did eventually hit the final, which surprised me a fair bit as I was expecting the double first. once at GZ, the cache hide was obvious enough to make revealing the ammo can quick and easy.
Well set and well hidden.
The only drawback about the night cache is that I did not see the bush - in fact I have (like many others) driven passed the start probably thousands of times, and I had no idea the park was so big - I may have to stop in daylight for a proper look sometime.
I dropped a TB here, but stuffed up the tracking code when I retrieved it at the previous cache, so it will show as being at Rest a while night cache, instead of here at the moment. Also - took TB & Geocoin.
