Visiting Moomba for work with an integrated field review at Limestone Creek oil satellite. On our last day today, we were visiting a few drilling and completion rigs in the vicinity, and I suggested to the team that we meet here first. Discussion turned to this geocache, and I searched around for the well-painted Eclipse mint tin that I had found 7-8 years ago when I was first up this way. Eventually I read back through a few logs and saw that it had been replaced with an evil-sized cache (of which I am sure is an anomaly of the COs currently maintained caches).A subsequent search using the hint contained in Morgo the geos [find log](https://coord.info/GL1C6RRYF) revealed the prize tucked away in its sneaky spot. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Had I known about this nano, I probably would have brought out something a little more hearty to replace with. Thanks Freddo for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was good to have found this again, and Im sure Ill be back again in the future.

Day nine of my Three Corners tour, visiting all three of Queensland's remote western corners over 12 days.Last night we camped on the Cooper at Innamincka. This morning, we are heading south to our last corner - Cameron's Corner. We are thankful of some blacktop after a week or so on various dirt, gravel and sand roads and tracks. This was another convenient place to stop and stretch the legs. The information boards were interesting, but the nano proved a little elusive. Eventually I turned it up. Many thanks Freddo.Pete#7,999 at [09:40]

Day 25. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my by way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip.I continued the journey home, tagging on with posums for a few days. After spending the night at Innamincka we headed south through Camerons Corner and then I headed further south to get close to the border.A nice quick stop here to check out the gas plant. A small amount of rain which is good for dropping the temperature, settling the dust and quelling the flies. Thanks Freddo for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you planning a trip to Victoria? Check out some of these caches on the nominees list for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. The shortlist is available [here](https://coord.info/BMC8QYR)

Well my trip up to QOGM started a couple of weeks ago and after taking the very indirect route up to outback QLD to get there. So after cruising up the Hume to Sydney then the M1 and A1 up to Byron Bay with a few other roads in between as I have been cris crossing a bit so after heading west and making it to Longreach time for a break from the travelling. So after a couple big days out to Stonehenge, Isisford and Ilfracombe, The Tritonz and Roaming Howie finally joined me and we did the puzzle trail. Then a fun first muster day to Muttaburra and back then a great tea event and a few more caches.A trip to Stonehenge and back again for them. The second muster day and boy what a busy day as there was a lot going on in the car with everything we had to do.Collect trads, look at photos, find some forks and then some property numbers as well. The Mexicans as we were called teamed up with a couple of other cars The Morris and Pool Pool to have a lot of fun over the radio.Well all the caches have been found and after another great dinner event QOGM has officially finished. This was my first QOGM and I had a great time, but all good things must come to end and today I must start heading towards home but Im also taking the very long way around back to Victoria.Roaming Howie is joining me on this section of the trip and the area is all new to him.So after the history lesson at Innamincka yesterday we are heading to Camerons Corner today.200 or more sand dunes to cross to get there so its like a roller coaster ride.I have been out this way a couple of times but have never passed Moomba as I have always taken the old Strzelecki Track down to Camerons Corner. This time Im driving the whole track down to Lyndhurst .A large plant in the middle of nowhere. Thanks Freddo and Family TFTC.

We had no idea that this operation was so big! It was fantastic to see it and to read all the information. It's incredible the amount of stuff that's going up on trucks, and the number of work vehicles we saw on the track. Thanks for placing a cache here.

This one was indeed a nice easy find. On a previous trip through here we locked it as a DNF. On that occasion as we said I think there were too many other people present for a proper search. Thanks for putting this one here Freddo.

27-Sep-21
Day two with Wollaston and Liz & Bruce, travelling the Strzeleki Track south to SA Millicent Mega after QOGM 2021 at Cunnamulla.
Today’s adventure was from Dig Tree in to Innamincka then camping at Blanchwater Station Ruins.
Shortly after turning onto the highway this morning we spotted some more CAMELS they were grazing on the green pick not far from the road, in the distance was a hilly range, one peak looking just like a pyramid!
Our first leg was on sealed wide road through lands that appear to have been ironed they are so flat. A side trip on a rough sandy 4WD track to collect a trad The Policeman, the site of pioneer explorer Burke’s first grave, a stark reminder of the harsh environment out here, today the landscape was deceptively tinged green following recent rain. A detour into Innamincka for fuel and four trad caches - Pearly Gates, appropriately named for those who ventured into the yonder ill prepared, Lois Lanes Boyfriend, Jeremy’s Creek and lastly an unloved trad, This King Was Saved By His Black Knights.
Next leg was Innamincka to Moomba through vast stations on the Strzeleki Track another bucket list trip, yay! The first section is brand spanking newly tarred with more sections underway, a brief stop and chat with the traffic controller we learned that soon the whole track would be asphalted by the end of 2022. The shiny new road soon became gravel and very rutted, on the way we grabbed the earth cache Hot Rock Cafe and continued on, the track is peppered with grids, crests, dips, curves and shredded tyres. A left turn to collect the closer trad Boot Tree then back on the track for the earth cache Channel Country South and trad at Moomba which was aptly named Did You Pass Gas.
Moomba leg started off with freshly graded gravel, ready for asphalt. The landscape looked like we could have been by the seaside, sandy dune like hills and flood plains with low growing vegetation and a smattering of bushes. A super slippery section in the roadworks under construction had the 4WD engaged and an entree to what conditions are like after rain, it’s no wonder the road is closed when it gets wet! The nice smooth road soon ran out and it was back to the original rough corrugated track to our next cache trad Strzeleki Crossing, an easy find with a cup of refreshing tea in hand ️. Next along the track was a trad Hot Water, then on to complete the earth cache Gibber - The Plain Story. As we drove along, the landscape gradually changed from the dunes to sandy hillocks then sparse flat plains to desolate glimmering rock as far as the eye can see.
The few lizards we saw darted across the roads today like they were on hot coals, there were very few birds mainly eagles, no emus or kangaroos out here, again thankfully no snakes, just a few small mobs of cattle languishing near the roadside waterholes.

Found it during a road trip in South Australia for Christmas break.
Very interesting place. We learned a lot about the gas and oil extraction. We didn't expect to see this plant right there in the outback.
At GZ quick find. We signed the book and put everything back where we found it.

I decided to take a break from cold Adelaide and head north to warmer climes for a month or so. The (loose) plan is to travel up to Innamincka then into western and central Queensland camping along the way. Where I go and how far north I get will depend on how distracted I get along the way and how hot it gets.

After camping out near Leigh Creek on my first night, I completed a couple of nearby caches before heading further north to Lyndhurst then up the Strzelecki Track towards Innamincka.

It was a bit of a late start as I wasn’t in any rush and I took my time, visiting the caches along the way.

Although I’ve been to Innaminka quite a few times in the past, most of the trips were were work-related, travelling by light aircraft, landing at the slightly ‘hairy’ airstrip adjacent to the town. However I have driven up a couple of times before and couldn’t help notice the vast improvements that have been made to the road, including numerous sealed sections. While it would still be a challenge in parts after rain, it doesn’t look like it will be too long before its an all weather road! Mores the pity I think.

The sun was going down when I got to this cache and Moomba, with its gas flares, looked quite spectacular against the sunset. Fortunately it was a quick find as I was starting to wonder quite where I’d camp for the night.

Thanks Freddo for the cache.

All is good with the cache and log. Now it's time to go back to work.

We've been wanting to drive the Strzelecki Track for a long time so a window of opportunity came up and we were out the gate!! We travelled up the Birdsville Track and down from Innamincka. Had a great time caching and admiring many views of the outback. The only casualty was the windscreen which had a close encounter with a rock on day 3. Got told in Birdsville that it wasn't bad enough to freight another up. Luckily it made it all the way home with the help of duct tape. We found some great views and historical places thanks to geocaching.

I worked here for a short time back in the mid 80's and again in the early 90's and remember I enjoyed working there, especially as it was a time before the Health and Safety became a evangelical religion preached by whip-cracking, jack-booted facists! Back then it was common each weekend to gather on a Saturday evening behind a sand dune not too far from the plant and enjoy a massive barbeque. Entry was, of course, a slab of beer and the food was provided by the catering companies from the camp(s). I vaguely recall staggering back to camp late one night after one particularly thirsty barbeque and falling down a bloody great hole which had my equally inebriated mate rolling around in the sand laughing his silly head off! Me? I didn't feel a thing until the next morning when I turned up for work not only hung over but black and blue with various bruises and contusions! Like I said, back before H&S reigned supreme.

27-Aug-18
Not in the car. Always down wind.

Found during an epic trip to 3 of SA state's corners - Haddon, Cameron and MacCabe. There was dust, eagles, a flat, video and lots of photography, mud and mostly more dust. An event in Innamincka broke up the dust and quenched the thirst.

Thanks to Freddo and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [:o)]

Tagging along with the "Rats" on holidays has it's advantages, not only do we get to see our cool country but we also get to do a heap of caching as Dad just can't help himself and has to stop at every cache he can.

Heading across Australia on nearly every dirt road possible we stopped and found your cache as part of our adventure and for that, I thank you! Sorry about the log being a "cut n paste" but tthats just because we stopped at so many caches.

The Rats and mini rats found this cache as part of our Purposeful Meander across Oz where we visited every mainland state in 8 weeks.

Apologises for the late log in some cases but we are only just catching up on our logging now that we have arrived back home. Your cache makes up many of the great memories we now have from the adventure. The faceplate style log doesn't detract from the experience we had finding the cache.

Thanks Smile

22-Apr-16
Searched high and low (and everywhere in between) for this cache on our way up the Strzelecki Track on the 16th April all to no avail, which is a bit of a puzzle as it was found just two days previously. Stopped again (for lunch) on our return along the Strzelecki and searched thoroughly again (four of us for a good 15 minutes... and there is only a certain number of places it could have been). Eventually decided it had gone missing so replaced it with a freshly prepared eclipse mint container (burnt over the camp stove to improve its camo) in the spot consistent with the clue. Thanks for the cache Freddo!
