Logs
Solved stage one ages ago while parked across the road waiting for something (I forget what) but never had the chance to visit of the rest of the way points. Found ourselves in Pauatahanui today with some time to spare, so finally had the chance. As previous logs have mentioned, logbook is in really bad shape. Managed to find a scrap to sign but really needs a new logbook. Tftc.
Enjoy caches around churchyards/cemeteries, as I am the family genealogist and like to think about the lives of those that have passed before us, very likely related to us in some form or other.Enjoyed the roses and found the cache, with pointers from CrystalFairy, at the final co-ords, which need a second look by searchers as the vegetation has expended a lot since the cache was first placed. It is snug and dry, but the log is in pieces. I didn't have any log paper to hand when visiting, otherwise I would have added.TFTC CrystalFairy
Well done. This was our first complex one and it had us scratching our heads for a while, but we got there in the end. Thanks again for putting in so much effort.
I would have visited 2 times before this only to end up in the carpark revising the numbers, lol. While the puzzle requirements were easy to find, it was also challenging, having to convert variables into other variables before use. This is where I made mistakes by getting them mixed up.At GZ, I found what the hint would be, to be a bit difficult to use as some overgrowing prickly stuff made it uncomfortable. So, I stood around trying to figure out exactly where the cache was, though this would not take long today. The condition of cache is fine, but the logs, so-so. A little tattered and seemed to be have been damp in the past. But successfully signed myself on.Apart from my own mistakes, I thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle and walk and will award an FP Cheers.Sleepy was here!
I like this cemetery, especially in the afternoon sun and when the roses are in flower (unfortunately they weren’t today). Found the paths amongst the gravestones that took me to GZ. I was slightly distracted as I expected to see a seat (based on the hint). But alas there was none. After checking the map on my phone I walked to GZ and decided it was better for me to kneel than sit to retrieve the cache -I find it had to get up when I sit on something that is low.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache CrystalFairy.

Solved this one after our last visit here but had to wait until our return to claim the final. Took a little while to locate but then it was quickly signed off and returned as found. TFTPC

I did a lot of the puzzle while waiting for Mr CD but made a couple of errors which were soon corrected at the different gravestones. Stimulated an interest to now and find out more about these early settlers. Once at GZ Mr CD soon found the cache. TFTC and a FP
After a 5 hour trip here and another 5 hrs caching we were overdue for ice creams so after getting some from the nearby shop we made our way up here to solve this cache. I did need a little assistance from a PAF which helped immensely and led us to the hide. A lovely little cemetery. Thanks Crystal Fairy
Such an amazing cemetary. Loved walking around with beautiful roses everywhere and so much history. Hint a bit off, think outside the square!
#2155.
My notes tell me on 30/10/21 (just over a year ago) I solved WP2 and WP3 using the Pauatahanui Burial Ground website. Then on 1/7/22, I visited the cemetery to get the rest of the data needed to work out GZ, which I did, but then searched unsuccessfully for the cache, but failed to record a DNF.
Passing by today with a few minutes to spare before going to my sisters’ for lunch, I thought I would have another look. A beautiful sunny day for a wander through the headstones, and back to where I had previously searched. This time, bingo, although you have to take the Hint with a grain of salt!
Tftc Crystal Fairy. Thanks for bringing me to this historic old cemetery.

Tftc Crystal Fairy. Thanks for bringing me to this historic old cemetery.
After a bit of mental arithmetic, I was pleased to find everything including the cache without difficulty. Nice workout for the brain! I always enjoy visiting old graveyards. We were a little early for the roses. Sarah would have been in the company of some of my forebears who were also on the Aurora. TFTC
This was so much fun but frustrating at times! Initially I thought I'd leave it for another day, but returned after a walk in the wetlands. I think I must have been overthinking it! TFTC!!
Enjoyed the wander around here and we learned a lot about our history. Took a while to find the cache but got there in the end. Added a new piece of paper. TFTC
I really enjoyed this cache. Its getting a fav from me. I visited this area three times in the bid to get the next bit of info. On one visit a muggle friend and I got talking to the locals doing a massive working bee at the church. It is a beautiful spot and I made a point to pop in each time i was in the area chasing a kiwi to do the next bit. It was lovely to come here today and sign at GZ - thank you for this cache - really enjoyable.
The Great Geocaching Tour of NZ Cemetaries rolls on! A lovely historic cemetery, FP for the roses. Thanks for bringing me here! All good in cache, Tftc!
Gathered all the required numbers a week or so ago but made a small error in calculation. Back today to rectify the matter.
Really enjoyed exploring the old graveyard, some fascinating stories there, and some lovely old roses. Thanks Crystal Fairy for this cache, definitely a favourite.

What an awesome amble around the history of the area. Once I got my head around the maths and started to get sensible waypoints all was good.
Watch out for the Holly Bush at the final GZ.
A fav from me!

TFTC, much appreciated retrieved Seagnoid's pathtag (many thanks Seagnoid) this is my 1st pathtag find in the 13 years I've been a geocacher
On my way to Palmerston North to catch up with my family. I left work at 3pm (Yay! Glide time!) and even so it was 7:30 when I arrived. Yaeh, sure, a large part of that was the traffic, but I also spent quite a bit of time here and across the road. Especially cross the road! There are a bunch of reasons I was after a cache - I am working on a streak (and finding one here means I save the ones near home for later) I am also working on my puzzle dot-days, and I had earlier found a challenge caches requring a ten day puzzle streak. So here I am, finding a puzzle cache. Oh - and it is a small cahce dot day too.
Talk about getting this one wrong! At each way point I was hunting for a cache instead of gathering the figures for the next cache. Eventually got to Sarah, who was half hidden under a mass of flowers. (photo). Dropped in a path tag.

Have been meaning to explore the church and cemetery for quite some time and this was a great excuse to do so. A nice meander through the grave sites culminating in a prickly scramble to grab the nicely hidden cache. Thanks!
#7974. This one has been on my to do list for quite some time. The problem has been that each time I drove past Pauatahanui and remembered this puzzle, I did not have the print out with me to solve the different stages of the puzzle. Today I was better prepared and brought the print-out with me. While Infoferret headed off to check out some nearby buildings I worked on the first part of the puzzle. Soon had some numbers and headed to the next stage. From there I had more numbers and headed to a very interesting grave. Always enjoy finding a piece of local history while doing a geocache. Soon gathered the information and after a short search around a few features of interest, I had the cache in hand. Signed the logbook and replaced where found. Thanks Crystal Fairy for this interesting and enjoyable puzzle cache.
Easy find tftc, out for an afternoon with geeves90. Nice day for a walk around the cemetery.
Had a previous look around here to no avail but suspected something was wrong with my reading and maths. Quick find today. TFTC.
It was too dark to attempt this one last time I was close by so back again today. I hadn’t read the description properly and thought it started at the wooden cross so made my way there through all the undergrowth before reading what I was supposed to be doing – derr! I love wandering round cemeteries so enjoyed the rest of the data collection. The roses are lovely but in some cases they are overtaking a bit. Pleased to have finally sorted this one out – interesting story. TFTC # 14,753
Beautiful autumn day to complete this multi, pretty little cemetery, straightforward find, TFTC
A nice quiet and interesting place. Worked my way through the way-points without too much trouble, once I got my alphabet right. Cache found, all safe and dry, TFTC.
Hallo!
This was the first multi-cache for our second youngest team member. She is currently as aupair in New Zealand. The first stations alone and the last station and the finals were searched for and found together with the children. Everything top and again what learned. Thanks for the nice cache and a favorite spot
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...
Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... This field puzzle turned out to be a super challenge right to the end. There were a few twists and turns to navigate. Finding the cache at the end was hugely satisfying. TFTP and TFTC.

Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Nice wander around once maths sorted b beautiful grounds. Thanks
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
We are making our way to the Wellington Mega, picking up plenty of solved puzzles and a few field puzzles along the way. Yesterday evening we attempted Sarah Ann Jones, and enjoyed our explore of this old cemetery with all the beautiful old roses. We had no problem finding the waypoints, and this location was surprisingly lovely at sunset. But we could not find the cache! We rechecked the answers from the last waypoint to no avail. It wasn't until we checked our workings later that we realised we had made a silly mistake with a letter value, and were one digit out on the Final coords. This morning this cache was top of our list to find. Once again we walked up the hill to the cemetery, and this time we had no trouble finding the cache. Very glad to have resolved that. Thanks!
Had a lovely wander through the graveyard. Hadn't been up here since I did the Anzac service as a Scout some 15 odd years ago. Time flies. Tftc!
I thought this one might take a while but everything very straightforward though in any case this place is worth taking a bit of time looking round.
A very long time since I attended the occasional service at St Albans in my teens!
Fascinating history, gets a FP despite getting slightly attacked by holly, other cachers beware!

A very pleasant stroll through this lovely, historic cemetery. No problem with the puzzle. Quick find at GZ. TFTC!
Fun & straightforward multi in well-tended boneyard. Appreciated the grim humour. Thanks Crystal Fairy
A well set out (Multi) cache. We had no problems with any of the clues today. The church yard is lovely with the roses in bloom. Plus a bit of history. What more could you want?
It's taken me a long time to get around to finding this for some reason. A pleasant stroll on a sunny winter day took me to the place I needed to be. I didn't look hard enough in the place I suspected the cache would be and when I returned for another look after exploring the cemetary a bit it was there after all. A nice view of the area from a new perspective. TFTC!
A quick find today after solving the puzzle yesterday. I like going to cemeteries and look at the headstones. All in order. TFTC
I'd gathered the needed information from an online resource so this was a quick visit. As it happened, I walked past one of the required waypoints by accident on my way to GZ. The roses are still in bloom today - there are some spectacular plants. See attached photo.

Came down with SUNJU to the CITO event and then we popped up to visit my husbans grave. SUNJU had worked on this puzzle a few times with no joy. We sat is the sun and quietly went through it and worked it out and found the hide. Really enjoyed looking at the old graves and reminisced re people we knew who are now buried here. A lovely visit and a lovely day. TFTC
Called into today as I had the opportunity to spend the time going through the clues to solve the puzzle. Visited the various locations and came up with some final coordinates. A little tricky at the GZ, but soon found the cache, and discovered that I was not the first person to find this today. TFTC
Visiting Dad's grave after a CITO event at Brown's Bay I had another go (third time) for solving this cache. A lovely day at this beautiful church and after planting a flower on dad's grave and relaxing peacefully in the sun, mum and I worked through this again to find where I had previously gone wrong. A short stroll had us finding the cache. Signed it quickly and replace and because it was so lovely and peaceful here today we had a short stroll around looking at some of the older graves. My granddad is buried here and our three daughters were christened here. Unfortunately the daughter who recently married was not keen to use the church because of the graves surrounding the church which was sad. I thought it would have been special but I guess everyone feels different. TFTC
Had been meaning to do this one for awhile since it was so close to home. Finally got around to it today. No problems at any of the waypoints, it was a very hot day! TFTC
Out and about with Pagenz on a puzzle collection day. This was voted our fav cache of the day and a great way to finish up what was a successful day. A fav point awarded.
Team Welsh and I has the most excellent time finding all the necessary info and then the final. (Favourite Point) T4tc
Wondered if Norman Jones on the war memorial plaque was related to Sarah Ann Jones. TFTC
Have not been to this cemetery before. Good cache for trying out the new GPS. Found with Gilgul. Log wet. TFTC
This little cemetery was very interesting. Unfortunately, our first attempt at GZ had us in the middle of a roundabout on the main road, but a bit of guidance from the CO showed us where we had gone wrong. We had not read Sarah Ann's details properly!! Made another visit today and found the cache immediately. Another new spot for us, thanks for placing a cache here.
Never new this little cemetery was here. Interesting piece of history right on doorstep. The steps on this mystery were pretty straight forward and final cache surprisingly in first place I looked. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache and for bringing me to another interesting spot.
Collected this one on my way home tonight. Very cold, but enjoyed the stages to the final. Bit of a search and log soaked. A very peaceful area to visit. TFTC
I was out with the apprentice for a spot of caching around Pauatahanui. We couldn't find the final on this one. We knew we had our method right as we had found Sarah (or rather my maths whiz-kid son had the method right—I stink at calculus). But I had forgotten the first rule of caching - you need to cast your net wider than the (perceived) GZ. Now know where to look thanks to CO, but it'll have to be another day.
Out for an evening wander with most of the family.
Pleasant walk around the cemetery, and 1SportDude made the find.

As I was out this way I thought I'd take the time to collect this one. Roses lovely at the moment, but the log is soaking. Thanks Sarah for your story and find no 46 of the 75 in a month needed for the MGSC challenge.
Enjoyed the nice stroll, not disturbed by any local residents. Logbook saturated. See photo. TFTP
Pleased to be able to log our find on this one. A visit to this area at the moment is rewarded by a huge show of old fashioned roses. An historic and intrinsically interesting place to visit. Thanks for that.
Cache was located without fuss once we did the machinations and got ourselves to GZ.
As previously reported, the log is soggy and mushy. This cache definitely needs some attention and maintenance.
Once found, log signed - just, and cache re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Had saved this for a day late in my 100-day streak, and decided this morning was it. Lovely old church and a good and relatively easy puzzle to resolve. Had never noticed the wooden 'angel' before, but see it every time we go past now. Log is very damp, and extra paper also close to impossible to write on. In need of some tender loving care (new log and baggy).
TFTC!

Interesting place and a lovely day to have a wonder around and answer Miss 5 and Master 6 questions about what happens to us and do we come back etc etc, TFTC
lovely church and cemetery - drive past this every day but have never been up here. some really interesting history in this cemetery, thanks for bringing me here. TFTC
easy found on the waypoints we had same fun at the final is left rigth or was in right left jr taybee found it in the end .the log book was very wet dry TFTC
Beautiful place. Driven past so many times but never stopped to look around before. Well worth it. TFTC.
Great night for a walk. Took our corgi Jack who enjoyed it more than I did. Thanks
Wow what an awesome cemetery.Really beautiful and peaceful.
Is that really the grave of James cooks wife and son?
Alot of history here.Worth the visit

What a neat little location for a cache - especially on a nice fine day. Log book very wet. TNLN. TFTC.
Wahooo!! My 700th find! Very apt too, as I share this cache's first name. Solved the puzzle several months ago and was in the area tonight with kjwx. The whole area, particularly the church, was just beautiful. Quick find at GZ, although the log was so wet we could only just record our initials. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC
A dead-cert for a favourite point ...
Tonight's geo-outing with JardislikeTardis was a little unplanned ... We'd picked a general area but not the actual caches we would target. However upon realising how close we were to this puzzle - which we'd both solved a while back - it was a quick and unanimous decision that we would base ourselves in its vicinity.
I love old cemeteries and quaint churches so the atmosphere here alone was worth it for me; would like to explore further by daylight. Final was a quick but decomposing find.

Jolly interesting area that could easily be missed when driving past. Enjoyed the historical trail around, and also interested in Sarah's history. Excellent puzzle thanks. TFTC
Nice spot, hadn't been here before. Had a bit of a look around as we went from waypoint to waypoint, some very old graves here. Found cache without any trouble but the log is damp. TFTC.
Found after doing most of the puzzle on Anzac day.
damp log made pencil tough to write with but logged ok.

Finally took the time to go back and get this one, after starting it over a year ago. Easy find now. Log book is damp and needs replacing. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Needs a new log book as the current one is damp. Probably a new ziplock bag too.
The logbook is little soggy so dried the inside of the bag as best I could and replaced it. A nice wee multi. TFTC
I left my visit a little late in the day so had to complete this in the gathering darkness. Strange lights in the cemetary at night - what must the neighbours think. A great location and one which I have previously explored so thanks for bringing me back. The log is still qite damp. TFTC
Very enjoyable cache. Thought we where stumped at GZ, but by following the hint exactly we found it.
Spent an enjoyable afternoon wandering around here, apart from the few spots of rain. Actually found all the waypoint locations without the GPS by just wandering about, but that didn't help with the final. Still had to do the calculations. A nice place to visit again when the roses are out. TFTC
What a wee gem of a church and graveyard. We had no trouble with the WPs, but had a bit of a hiccup at GZ, when I must have almost put my hand on the cache before deciding it wasn't hidden in there! Luckily StreetWalker had a look as well and immediately found the cache. Would be a lovely place to visit in late spring/early summer when the roses would be in full flower.
Thanks for bringing me here.

#2031 (5/8 on a showery afternoon). Really enoyed discovering this graveyard. TFTC.
Had a crack without the GPS, found WP1, and 3, but not 2. Came back tonight equipped with gadgetry, and a short sit down in the evening sun got the cache easily. Lots of history, I even knew a few of the people recently buried here. TFTC
