Starting at Ilam I parked and headed around the back of Bunster Hill and summited there first. Great spring day with top views and weather for hiking! Decended the hill towards Thorpe Cloud and managed to pop off the ridge just above this cache which was to be the first of the day. Claimed the TB which is now moving on to Southern Pastures before heading across the creek and up the Cloud. Even though it was early there were still many muggles about. Cheers from Australia.
There were big signs up saying that the (now-controversial) stepping stones were out of use today because they are unstable, but having just had a lovely leg-stretching slippery-slidey climb of Thorpe Cloud there was no way that we were going back to the bridge, and we took the age-old 'dangerous' route across the river. I'm pleased to say that the stones aren't unstable at all although they do look a bit weird now, like little limestone sandwiches.
We did see people attempting to cross in interesting footwear though - the girl with suede fashion boots probably regretted it.
As we got close to the cache site we nearly decided that the last 40ft would be too much for weary legs, but one last burst of energy on Mr Jantac's part and the cache was a quick find.
Left nothing but took a very sticky Fox's Glacier Mint and put it in the bin. TFTC, we wish we'd had more time to explore further in this lovely area today.

Found during our annual climb up Thorpe Cloud - this time with lots of snow!
The past 3 years that we have been coming here the river has been flowing too high to use the stepping stones - today wasn't a problem, but the ice was. My brother slipped and went in the drink!
Climbed up the virgin snow to reach the cache...making it easy for the following two 'Tractors' to find!
