A day visit to Huia and I decided that today was the day that I would look for this multi. Well, I looked and looked, and that was as far as I got. Thanks sp8sm8#5292Logged using Cachly.
This was an enjoyable walk to GZ at low tide and a great place to soak in the serenity for a bit while the others searched
Out with Team SEAC for the day looking for caches. Got the message from NZTravellers for a sudden place change as his these FTFs turned up. Made our way out here to begin the trail.
Thanks for the cache

Labour Weekend has historically been a minimum 3 day Team SEAC all out adventure so a little while ago I started planning some fun for us. Today was all set for a walking day up north but as we were leaving the house the notifications started coming through for Karamatura....quick team lets head in an alternative direction....its a Mega Mysterious Weekend after all!! After completing the track we continued on in the area for some more (of course!!).
We used the less technical option for a nice quick find by B4Dawn. Woohoo now onto the next one.
Thanks for the cache.

Found with Team SEAC while out on a long weekend mega adventure. Nearly got very funny as I’d headed in water side. . TFTC
This took a bit of looking but got there eventually. I over thought the hint. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are in Auckland Auckland for a break and we are exploring the region while we are based here. Today started out foggy, fined up then rained. Go figure! We had a great time despite the weather. The best bit was seeing dolphin in the Manukau Harbour!.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Was getting very hot so had to make this a quick find. Not sure i went 12m but used the hint & earned a yellow smiley. Was lovely in this area today. TFTC
A nice spot here and after Originally setting my target on a much larger hint item, I soon spotted the nicely sized container. TFTC
Really nice easy multi, no problems with the projection and found the cache reasonably quickly.
I enjoyed this spot! Very peaceful compared to the park across the water!
Thanks for the multi!

Out west for New Years day we had lunch at Huia bay before taking a walk up to Lower Huia Dam. On the way back we pulled over yo find this one, few people about but luckily no one right where the cache is so managed to have a look in the area without being noticed. I first started looking a little further than where the cache was found as that is where the GPS was pointing and is near a hint item - found what would have been a little circle of rocks and wonder if the cache was originally there? Anyway a back tracked a little and made the find on the way. All good here, TFTC.
Almost a year ago this cache was last found. Did not know what to expect. Arrived at the location and soon had container in my hand. Not exactly as per hint but close to! All nice and dry / clean inside. T4TC
Was meeting up with some fellow cachers later in the day to make the intrepid adventure to the nearby Entropy cache, and merlot58 suggested we come out earlier and find a couple of caches in the area. Merlot had already found this cache before, so she stood back while I worked out where GZ was.
We were staying at Huia Lodge nearby, and were now on our way home ready for work tomorrow. Others in the group had found this cache earlier in our stay, but we missed that mission. Today we made a quick find at GZ once we identified the hint item. Hard to believe this was once a bustling port. Found with darthcacher1, purply and NZTravellers.
I was staying at the nearby Huia Lodge over the New Year period with some fellow caching members (or "Team SEAC"- South East Auckland Crew- as we call ourselves when we are caching together, which is often!).
This cache had been found by the others previously at various times through our stay- unfortunately I had stayed in the car to take a phone call when some of the others came here a couple of days ago, which meant that I misse dout on finding the cache. So today myself and Liverkiwi, who were the only ones of our gang who hadn't found this, decided we would stop here to make the find.
Parked at the playground so everyone else could take the kids to play while we wandered round. Completed the instructions once we got to the posted coordinates, and figured out roughly where it would be.
Cache was retrieved by Mr LiverKiwi in the second spot we checked.
TFTC sp8sm8!

Staying at Huia with Team SEAC over the New Years break.
We were leaving today so did a few caches as we were leaving the area. Parked close to GZ and walked to the starting point.
Made the easy find and the hint also helped.

We had just found the Lower Huia Dam cache and since we had joined the camp later than we had anticipated (by a few days due to illness), we went to grab this cache which the rest of Team SEAC had already found. It took a little searching, but once we found the correct item in the hint the cache was immediately in hand. The log was signed and cache replaced back in it's hiding place.

Staying nearby at Huia Lodge for a New Years gathering and caching few days.... found the trad at the other end of the park and made our way to this one ..... took a little scouting around to make the find, and then one of the group had to locate their sunglasses as we were leaving.....
Cache is in good shape.
Signed in as SEAC to save log book space.

I had just taken the kids to pick up the cache close by at the play park so it would've been a crime not to pick up this one as well This was a nice quick find and Mr 4 was stoked to find a hot wheels car in there as swag to swap, TFTC!
Was in the area for New Years staying at Huia Lodge with a bunch of other Geocaching friends....also known as "Team S.E.A.C" Had about 20 of us there, young and not so young.
Thanks for bringing us to this amazing part of New Zealand.

I was part of team S.E.A.C which was in the area staying at Huia Lodge. We did the cache just round the corner and thought we would give this one a crack. Cache was soon in hand and signed. A quick tutorial on stone hopping and then we were off... TFTC
Just over six months since its last find but since we were here we decided to pop around and see if we could find this multi. As I approached GZ I saw that a muggle was having a nap, so I made sure to be nice and quiet while I did the offset. I had Albert the geohound with me and there was a bit of a lip to get to GZ so I had to lift him up as he's not much a jumper. Overshot the right spot in the end and spotted the cache on the way back down, made it a much harder terrain rating than I needed to. Took some swag and dropped some. Thanks for the cache.
Everything was all wet and mucky with the recent rain, but log book was tucked away all nice and dry. thanks for a nice simple multi!
On our way back from a day of caching at Whatipu. GZ was damp with a lot of "humus" around (the soil variety that is, not the food) But after tramping around in the swamp for half the day, this was an absolute breeze! TFTC
#11702. Bit of a tricky area to search, so I was pleased to finally clap eyes on the cache. TFTC.
We are back in Auckland for a few days and a visit to Titirangi and Huia was on the to do list. We were a little slow getting started this morning, as I spent a while researching the caches we would be looking for. Of course, solved puzzles were high on the list!
We parked in the domain, and walked across the bridge, only to find that we could have parked closer. Took a few minutes to track down the cache as the hint object was not obvious. Thanks for the interesting history of the area and TFTC.

Had decided to do a few caches in the area here today. Having done a couple earlier where we got our feet a bit muddy we were not too concerned when we headed off to this across the beach with the tide out. But wait. Getting closer to the GZ we discovered that what we could not see from the car park was the stream which had not dried up. Oh well we just had to get our feet wet. Crossed over and then spent a few minutes hunting. Our efforts were finally rewarded when we lowered our sights somewhat. Great spot and nicely hidden.
A nice simple multi that I didn't have to walk miles for! Cache was still in good order considering it's nearly 6 months since it was last found.
The tide was in but no problems getting to GZ. A quick fossick and we had it. Tftc.
Got this while on a mission in the area .... Ric raced ahead while I was still looking at clue on phone , and by the time I located him he had cache in hand . Cool hiding spot thanks sp8sm8.
I like this off-set cache, I have been meaning to do a lot more multis of late, and mysterys, it's just a matter of applying oneself, read up on mystery cache books that certain ones have put out. Then giving it a go. Found the right punga quite quickly.
One of a few finds whilst exploring the Cornwallis/Huia area today. Like a few others, it also took us a little while to find. The clue was helpful, but we needn't have looked quite as "far afield" as we did. #697. TFTC.
The tide was out enough for a walk further around the coast. Very pretty with the kowhai out in flower. TFTC!
After I waited for some young fisherman's to disappear I made a straight forward find . TFTC
Did this on the way home from a stroll in the Karamatura Valley. Interesting history around these shores. Surprised that this doesnt get visited more often. There were several objects that fitted the hint but found it in the last place(least obvious) of the hints.
Thanks

Had to find a way that would keep our feet dry! approached GZ, looked around and with the help of the hint the cache was found. Again thanks for the hide.

Another piece of history I did not know, indeed it is hard to imagine this area as a port. Easy locate but again retrieval slightly more difficult. Another time visit for me today, thanks for sharing it with me. Log book still slightly damp, dried best we could.
Made our way to GZ, got to use the compass for a second time today, and success was ours. The tide has now gone out, so you can see how the area has silted up, its hard to imagine the tall ships that would have come into the bay many years before. Thanks for the history, the adventure and the hide.
Easy find while walking leg 1 of the Hilary Trail. Compass function and hint did the bizzo which was handy as my 3G reception was rubbish. Cheers.
Out for some afternoon caching around Huia so stopped by to see if I could find this cache. No problems at all and a quick find of the good sized container was made. Cheers for sharing this interesting bit of history with us!
I decided to have a nice afternoon in Cornwallis and collect some caches while there. Although I had been to this area a lot of times in the past to go running and mountain biking, this was the first time to go geocaching. This turned out to be a quick and easy find while the other Dabsta's waited in the car nearby. TFTC!
This took us some time to find and we almost gave up when Possum found himself standing on a "green" log. There it was! The container was filled with water so we took it back to where we were staying and returned it dried out a couple of days later. We put the container in a zip lock bag since sistemas are notorious for leaking.
A nice spot so thanks for bring us here.

I was out this way dropping off daughter for an overnight tramp, so since it was such a lovely morning I was in no rush to get back to work.
I parked over the bridge and jumped the creek, only got a bit damp
I found the cache without too much trouble and decided to take the bridge for my return to the car.
Thanks for this one, a lovely spot on a great day.

It seems that all the green had nearly gone. That is once we had found it despite the GPS leading us in ever increasing circles.
Good thing it was dry weather, jandels were all I could manage to get on my feet after yesturdays hike for the Waitangi compout event.
Sat and watched a family of kyackers go passed before I could retreive the cache. TFTC

A find on the way to the Waitangi at Whatipu BBQ. Cache is a wee bit damp inside so could do with a little TLC. Master 3 was excited that he was almost the finder. TFTC.
nice stroll for the cache, very refreshing and good to stretch the legs - TFTC!!
9/02/13 16:15 It was so nice, we decided to walk... (Old talking seagull joke ) across the estuary / stream and I had a play with my new GCTools App before being 'less technical' and used my superior non-bionic vision, with HM spotting it first.
Thanks sp8sm8. Cheers, GenCuster.

While on our way to camp over at Whatipu for the BBQ Event the following day, we stopped off to have another go at this one. Our last attempt was 18 months ago without a GPS. The area has been cleaned up a lot, and it was an easy find with the GPS. Cache is a bit damp. Thanks for the cache.
Cool spot to look over the bay, according to the log book someone has found this cache in march 2013, I think there must be time travelling geocachers
Great hiding spot. Description was good and with a little poking around we soon had the cache in hand.
Easy find - thx for the non-technical clue!!

Darby aka Ted decided we would go to Whatipu today for a change of scenery. This was our 2nd stop, thought it better to do on a quiet Sunday Morning. Can't remember how long its been since we were out this way. Enjoyed the stroll to GZ although one lone muggle and dogs nearby. We thank you very much for the instructions when you have trouble with projecting as we do. Darby was agile enough to make the leap up to grab this one. Good hide. SL. TFTC.
So well camouflaged we almost gave up. Also found a bouncy ball for the dog to chase.

Headed out for my birthday today, exploring the area between Titirangi and Whatipu.
Followed the directions to the cache and found easily.

A nice easy multi on our way back from walking the Karamatura Track with Greenblat. Fortunately Greenblat had found this one before as i couldnt find it. He was able to point me in the right direction and sure enough his memory was bang on. TFTC!
Nearly about to give up after looking under a suitable spot and noting that the last visitor did not find it but then spotted a possible location - success! TFTC
Couldn't find this one. The only horizontal punga found was buried under some Tradescantia fluminensis. No cache found, though there was a suspiciously cache-shaped hole at one end. Will need to try again with a GPS.
Sent the kids off to find this one as it was muddy and they we were off to complete the orienteering course nearby. TFTC
It is not a green punga, but a nearly died dry punga stump.
I searched it several times and finally found it but got scrubt in searching every possible punga tree nearby.

A bit on the slushy side on the walk to GZ, but an easy find. Dog loved the spot and had a bit of a swim. Thanks.
A nice quick find on the way back from a walk in the Waitakere Ranges with Hazard Jnr. TFTC!
This is a really nice spot when the tide is in. This time there were picnics on the beach and kids in the water and an over friendly Alsation puppy about the size of a barn which insisted on licking me in the face. The things we do for a cache.
after a short traverse around a muddy patch we reached GZ with ease - Jillopy even forging on ahead to find the cache without the GPS. An interisting history this spot has that we would not have known otherwise - TFTC and history lesson.
Nice spot with significant history to the family. Father of one of the DIMwits holidayed here 90 years ago!
Contents of the cache were damp.

Muddy indeed. Managed to find this cache between squalls (150km/h gusts pumping through the heads today). Rather calm at GZ and a quick find. Definitely could not imagine a port here. TFTC
