Archiving this one as it will be better to place a totally new hide that will pop up on peoples radar.
Now that the reserve care group have had time to do a clean up of the area I should be able to place the cache in the next couple of weeks. Selecting a site that keeps everyone happy Iis the goal.
Still preparing the gadget cache so making progress Exact location still being negotiated
I'm out caching today with a newly formed team called TKBs that's Tiz13 and kbucky now tiz has the groundwork on this cache already which was great, this magnificent tree is a living legend being held together by some ingenious modern technology, this was a great relaxing walk to GZ where there was a bit of expansive search but we all agreed on where it should be and sure enough there is Tiz13 had the honour of signing our names and claiming 2 years of unlove. Tftc jimmymaff
Over obligatory coffee, the TKB's made plans to go searching around Maffra on the first day of daylight savings. Tiz had done the background work. We stopped to admire the magnificent tree and the methods to hold it together. I have never seen anything like it! We wandered off, wombling along like wombats, enjoying this glorious day and having no real expectations a cache would still be there after 2 years of 'unlove.'After some random searching, Tiz13 was convinced her original spot was the one and with some further investigation, success was had. Great job tizTFTC Jimmymaff - for placing and maintaining your caches and taking me to spots where I can escape from it all and enjoy a walk and a bit of a brain work out. Love that your caches are going strong 13 years later - well done!
The call went out a few days ago and the Maffra expedition was planned with kbucky and Kashbound. This multi that I was unable to collect on my last visit because of technical difficulties was on the too find list...although after 2 years of unlove my expectations were not high. We stopped to marvel at the magnificent tree and its magnificent preservation efforts...we took a lovely wonder through the reserve to GZ...we spread out and did a bit of a Geo dance before returning to GZ and making the find...cache still in great condition. Very happy to add my name along with my fellow hunters. TFTH..
Technically not a DNF at GZ I could only find 1 plate that appeared to be missing some information - might be that the tree has grown over it or my eyes were not searching hard enough. Never mind has a pleasant morning walk through the reserve to the Coffin tree. The sun is finally shining and yay Spring is around the corner. Msg CO with picture.
Mixed feelings on giving this a dnf, found the split tree, got the way Point for GZ had a lovely walk along the wombat trail meet the 3 legged golden retriever with wheels belting down to the watering hole with his 2 mates and owner. Got to GZ and despite out best and considerable efforts with gps bouncing +- 40 meters long grass and plenty of good hiding spots for a container that size, we are going to have to come back for this one
Serene and peaceful walk around Wombat Trail and Bellbird Corner. Lovely spot to stop and stretch the legs.
On a smokey January day we decided to go for a cache run. This multi brought us to a wonderful little reserve. Having obtained the required information from WP1, we went for a little walk. At GZ the cache was found easily. TFTC Jimmymaff and Howey.

Lovely walk and geo baby loved the overhanging branches on the wombat wandering walking track
Looking for an excuse to get out of the house it was decided to head down to Maffra for some caching and to visit the lego exhibition. My geocaching friend is a kid at heart so I was able to talk him into coming down with me although he had already found this cache. I quickly gathered required information and calculated the final coordinates. The walk is very pleasant and helped me with a walking challenge I am undertaking. Arriving at the gz I quickly had the cache in hand and had returned the cache. We were just leaving when it was noted dogs at a distance soon to be followed by their owner in a vehicle. And although one dog had wheels harnessed to its hind legs it certainly did not slow it down as it chased the other two.
Thanks for bringing me somewhere where I would not have visited normally.

Well, today was the day we came to gather these two caches. In hindsight we should have done them earlier in the year, but not knowing what the conditions were like, we opted out because of snakes.
Being multi's was sure to guarantee a walk, but it proved to be OK in the long run. An easy to calculate set of coordinates and the caches was soon in hand.
Gotta love this park. Thanks to the CO for the placement.

Had been wanting to do this multi for awhile and after deciding to go to the Briagolong wellness market took the day to discover a few caches. I am so glad I found it. Took my daughter with me and she was equally as happy to go on this little adventure and discover new and interesting things. The trees in this park are amazing. tftc
This was my last cache for the day before heading back to Melbourne and I didn't have much time, as daylight was quickly fading.
At the tree and no metal plate, doh! But that's because I wasn't being thorough enough. I soon had some good looking coordinates and headed along the pleasant trail. GZ was a pretty area and I soon had the cache in hand. What a shame I couldn't do the nearby Bellbird Creek Walk cache, maybe next time.
Thank you

Beautiful, very special place. Will definitely come back here just to enjoy nature!!

You just about need to perform an exorcism just to get at this cache, I resorted to tossing it clear of GZ instead. TFTC

Nice to see that such an effort has been put into saving this amazing tree. Lovey walk along the banks of the mighty Macalister.. thanks..!!
I have had this cache on the to list ever since I started Geocaching. Today was the day that I finally got around to doing it.
I found the infomation and did the sums. I headed off to GZ. As I walked along the track I spotted a fox walking just head of me. I tried to take a picture but headed into the long grass and I lost site of it.
I soon reached GZ and located the cache and added my name to the log.
Thanks Jimmy for brining me to a spot that I did not know existed.
'Scrat' visited your cache whilst on his Great Aussie Adventure.

Another great cache and exploration/picnic with the kids - lots and LOTS of ants though!!
Never seen a tree held together like that before
Good hide, but a lots of ants but a nice walk today in the sun
Didn't spot a wombat today
Took the Travel Bug
Thanks Jimmymaff and Howey

Heading off to Wilsons Prom today but could not resist getting a few more caches around this area. This was one of the caches we targetted and were able to find in conjunction with caching friends LazzaL. Thanks to Jimmymaff.
Out this morning to get a few more caches before heading off to Fish creek with friends Liz & Bruce and this was one of the excellent caches of the day. Thanks to Jimmymaff
Lovely lovely spot! Couldnt believe it. I met an old work colleague at the cache hide. He had set up picnic and I had to try to get cache without him knowing. Told him I had to duck behind a tree- fairly sure he thought I had to have a 'bush wee'. Who cares? It got me away lomg enough to get the cache. How naughty!!!!!
Found on a dark night with The Geo-Baristas & the geo hunds (and several torches). A long walk there and a short walk back [why didn't we go in that way???]. Tnlnsl tftc Jimmymaff

By the time we got here it was getting quite dark. We headed down the only path we could find and kept walking along the river hoping we had made the right turn. Just as our torch lights were dimming and we were about to give up we found the cache! We also found a much much shorter paved way back to the car....... :/ Thanks Jimmymaff
What a beautiful place, walked the paths, admired the bird life. Didn't spot a wombat but saw a few piles that may have been evidence of his existence.
Yay - found it while out for a pleasant Easter Sunday morning stroll (to walk off the chocolate and hot cross buns) with friends and dogs. Thanks Jimmymaff for setting up a cache in this area - another hidden gem discovered thanks to caching. Love the very big and very old tree at the start of the walk - hope the wires and bolts can hold it together for a few more years. Great to see the Bellbird Creek area being maintained with lots of TLC when many others are being let go to the wilds of nature. This is a very pleasant area to visit. Thanks again Jimmy for the caching challenge.
# 5479 Found on a much cooler morning trip around the area to Strath & Maff.
Nice and quiet and no muggles around while I was here.
Nice bike ride and top walk in the bush to GZ.
Another great multi done and onto the next one.
TN LN SL Thanks for the Cache Jimmymaff,
Roostaman.

We took are quick drive to the other side of the walk for this one. The kids are too small to do the entire walk there and back.
This is the type of cache I like to find.... Nice and easy.... Thank you Jimmymaff for the break.... lol
The first two nearly killed us. hahahaha
Great work

Now Jimmy said to park the car at the end of Sandy Creek Road and complete the walk to both caches. Ok, sounds fine. Did as suggested, walked to and admired the tree and subsequently made an easy find at 1525hrs, particularly by Jimmymaff standards. Although the ants had been instructed to guard the cache and were also doing as they were told. TNLN and paused a while to enjoy a beautiful and recently manacured location. Ok, off to the next one. After walking through creek beds and undergrowth and taking a wrong turn we were eventually confronted by a raging torrent, sufficient for neither of us intrepid explorers to want to take the plunge! Ok, back to the car for take two! Thanks Jimmymaff for the walk and walk and walk, etc.
It was a lovely sunny day, geo-dog and I set off to discover new places - and this was one lovely place that I didn't know existed. Well done to St Mary's school and Landcare for looking after this corner on the Macallister. Did the sums (thank goodness they were right!) and a short walk later had cache in hand. Signed log, brushed off the ants and went to see whether I could do the creek crossing. lol - it was running a banker - no way was I crossing that!!!
TFTC Jimmymaff - another great cache.

Dropped the kids off at gym training then decided that I might get a few lingering caches while waiting. Looks like they are trying to hold this tree together, avoiding it collapsing. Weird. Good hide, but still itching from the ants! Thanks Jimmymaff for the hide.
I dropped in here about a 5 weeks ago. Cache was tucked away in it's hidey hole.
Looked all over
double check co-ords
spent over an hour looking
Hasn't been logged since sept 2010
Will try again once confirmed as found

Found at 11:34. I should have done this one on Sunday when looking for Bellbird...., would have walked right past it.
Took travel bug "Spiky the Echidna". Going to Queensland next week so may find a home for him in Cairns or Airley Beach.

Bit hard not to notice when your number plate is "FTF 01"... Not even Elmer (our local FTF hound) is that keen methinks...[^]
Dropped in yesterday with some visitors - out for a nice secluded picnic morning tea. Picked up the TB and GC to start on their respective journeys.

I drove down the backroad towards the gate and gracefully slowed the geomobile to a smooth stop behind a group of wombat wanderers just getting back in their car
But why were they giggling and pointing at me ? [:o]
I sheepishly got out of the car, regained my composure and headed for the gate, determined to ignore their taunts
"You a cacher ?" they asked.....
how did they know ? [:o)]
So with a confirmation of another caches hiding spot back in towne under me hat, I made like a wombat and wandered
The wander is a good 'un.
That tree is certainly unusual..... I'm guessing they're possum overpasses [:o)]
Much waddling later and I reached GZ and found the cache playing possum
Thanks Jimmy and Howey for the cache and for the wander through a rare patch of the original Gippsland [^]

We had a go at this one last October but hadn't realised that the coordinates had changed, a DNF was the result. Today was a different story, same pleasant walk, same clues but success in finding the cache this time. Another one to tick off our list which seems to be getting longer rather than shorter. TFTC (our 400th) Took the koala keyring, Left a Pathtag and Opener No.5 TB

A nice enjoyable walk in the area on a hot day. I kept a keen eye out for snakes and made sure I made plenty of noise as I walked. Arrived at GZ for a easy find. TFTC
Found by Mary & David at 1130. We both loved WP1, and even saw a Highland Cow nearby. The walk afforded glimpses of the river. Usually very well known on weather reports when it floods. Swapped pathtags. Our thanks to Jimmymaff and Howey once more.

We found this cache at 5:10pm as the 23rd of 43 on our Sale or No Sale Tour with Alansee, Pprass and Acts2YouthGroup. Although PPrass arrived first at the cache, neither did he follow the Wombat Trail nor did he wander. The rest of us took the intended scenic route. The items up at WP1 made us all feel a little uncomfortable. Ow, splits! Thanks from D B-A.
Found in the company of pprass, Rabbitto and Acts2youthgroup on a fun but tiring caching day today. WP1 was soon sussed and we commencd the nice walk to gz. We soon split up, undecided as to which way to go, although in the end it didn't matter. Pprass got there first easily but we still maintain that he ran while we weren't looking!
Found at 5.15pm GAFF1 in the company of Acts2YG, Alansee and Rabbitto on a very successful tour of east Gippsland.
A lovely reserve with the track meandering around the river. The group decided that they had found the right way in, but p-pprass decided to continue with what looked like the obvious route and got to GZ way before the others. Back at the car instead of adulation being thrown at p-pprass for working out the best way in, he was just accused of running or cantering to beat the others to GZ - oh how they judge cruelly (and badly:))
Thanks Jimmymaff and Howey - not sure why the tree had to be saved if it was so badly damaged. Must have some heritage importance.

This was cache # 35 of 45 for the day, In the company of Alansee, pprass & Rabbitto, on our tour of Gippsland, the cache was found at 17:20. We gathered the information checked out the tree and headed to GZ where we went one way along the track and pprass went the other, we are sure he ran to the cache as soon as we were out of sight as he was there way ahead of us. My thanks to Jimmymaff and Howey for the cache.
I downloaded these coordinates about a month ago and only just got around to searching for the cache - with the old coordinates DUH !!!! Naturally, we were unable to come up with the goods but we enjoyed the walk and thorough examination of the wrong place !!!
The second time will surely come up with the goods with the amended coordinates.

Found it on Sunday 25 Oct . This was my first find so you can imagine my excitement. Unfortunately the mosquitoes took the enjoyment away. Do not go there in shorts or short sleeves at the moment.
Rocky Glen Grommets, in town for Motocross Nationals in nearby Newry, and a cache or two. This was a pleasant morning walk for Mum Grom - rewarded with a find, despite the couple who live nearby, sitting out in the early morning sunshine having breakfast. Very nice way to start off the morning. Thanks for the cache. Took the Travel Bug (will move along to SA later in the week)
1137 Amazing what happens when you have the right co-ords. Thanks for a lovely little walk - 3 times - the last one in the dark on our way back from Raymond Island. TFTC Jimmymaff
Ok this is where I have to suck it up and confess I stuffed up.

1230h. Its amazing what is just around the corner in your own neighbour hood. I wonder if there're any tiny tightrope walkers who would try this one, not as glamerous as Niagra Falls TIC. Spent sometime looking at the very funny and hairy beast next door, is it a yak? Sniffed this one out after resting and taking in the bird chorus. No wombats but lots of holes. They must of been sleeping.
1509hrs, lucky I had some-one else with me as my GPS was playing silly buggers after entering the new co-ors in other wise I would have never have found this one, nice out of the way park. Have never seen a tree held toghter like that before. TNLN
great little cache, once I remembered how to amend lat/long data into my GPS. Location was a good distance away from co-ordinates, but is in a obvious location.
[After a second trip in to this spot (was getting a bit dark the last time), rummaged around at exact GZ for a while post lunch with no luck.]
[Note to self - spoiler alert]
Look in more obvious spots next time!!!
[Lovely spot, might even look at a camping trip with Geokid later in the year.]
[Thanks for the hunt Jimmymaff! TNLNSL]

Today mother and I decided it would be fun to go out and find dad's cache! Took us to a spot both of us had never been to, found the cache fairly easily.
Took Tommy Tiger Trackable, left nothing.
thanks dad!

A FTF for us this morning. After parking the truck and walking to wp1 we gathered the required numbers. After looking up I reckon that has to be the smallest flying fox I've ever seen! A brisk walk to the gz had us scratching our heads a bit as the GPS was jumping around a bit. We checked all likely spots and Mrs E soon had the cache in hand. We took the FTF certificate and the medal and left Side Show Bob.
Thanks to JimmyMaff and Howey for the cache - this is a great spot that we'll come back to.
