No luck for us today. With lots of flood debris where our GPS shows GZ, cache may be gone. CO messaged with more info to check.
We looked under lots of things today, but no joy for Capperz, Jo or I. Will keep an eye on it and be back at a later date.
Not exactly sure what went wrong here, searched all around in the 'hint' area, nothing found.
Will watch with interest

A chance to stand around and catch my breath after running up to dun bridge and then cache hunting/jogging my way back. Thanks for the hide
A quick find and passed to TregearP to open. We'd saved the caches to a pocket query GPX download and so hadn't read the cache pages. TregearP deduced that the combination, of which only one number was visible must be something to do with the plaque on the nearby seat and immediately started trying things.
Luckily wiser heads prevailed and after reading the cache page offered to give it ago, slid back the combination cover and entered the number provided. Bingo!
All in good order, and a nice twist on a traditional - and a great colour!
Thanks for the cache.

Paddle Chick and I decided to head up to maitai caves and get a few caches on the way .A quick easy find .Tftc .BigglesNZ
After having returned from caching uphill from the dam, we had one more cache to find before getting back in the van. Wandered over the bridge to Jock's Whare and located the cache after thinking about where it must be. Thanks.
I was having a lovely time around this area this afternoon, so very peaceful. This was a quick find exactly as described. Thanks for the cache BigglesNZ
We are keen geocachers on holiday from Tauranga collecting a few smileys as we go. Have to say it was surprisingly busy up there today, with constant groups visiting the dam. Nice easy find. Cache is all good. TFTC
Nabbed this one on a fabulous Easter Sunday tramble (hybrid of tramp and amble) up to the caves. TFTC
Had just signed and replaced cache when a couple of trampers walked by and asked if I was geocaching. Why else would I be perched in such a strange place? TFTC
Out on a maintenance run today. Checked up on this one. Waterproof log is doing the job. Thanks edvern.
A straight forward find while biking up the Matai Valley. The log book is sodden so I popped in a small strip of waterproof paper to sign my visit. Thanks BigglesNZ.
Heaven alone knows how we did not find this one before when we looked in October; its a different container and is certainly not camouflaged.
I did this one from memory as I forgot to download it before setting off.
As I said, finding it this time was no problem, but opening it was, since without the description, the combination code was a mystery. I admit, I did resort to using 'reasonable force' to prise the log out - which was sodden - but the integrity of the container remains intact.
By way of reparation, I will return later this week with a nice dry log.
Thanks for the hide and pleased to turn a DNF into a smiley #662

The best part about this cache was when I was writing in it the very friendly duck bit my partner on the bum.

Didn't find it, even after climbing through the blackberry vines. Pleased to see that two cachers found it later in the day so maybe next time....
We left looking for this cache until our return from a walk to the cave. Being nosy, I wandered off to look at something while Hazedarus looked for the cache, as it turned out it was the cache but not where we expected to find it. After signing the log we replaced it where our GPS told us GZ was. CO notified. Thank you BigglesNZ.
The last cache for the day and found but not where the GPS and hint suggested. Put back where it's most likely supposed to be. Thank you BigglesNZ for placing this cache.
StreetWalker went to one side and I went to the other and I found the cache. We then took it over to Jock's seat to access the logbook and for signing duties. Great spot, first visit for us. Afterwards went up to the dam for a closer look (and another cache).
Thanks for bringing me here.

#7464. Our first time this far down the valley; we'll have to come back to tackle some of the tracks (and their caches). An interesting container. TFTC.
Found with Ducksarse Dave today - he had just ridden the Coppermine and I had driven up to meet him.. TFTC.
It makes sense to read the cache description first. Found it without realising it was it!! Fortunately Gorgeous Goose checked details on the GPS and the problem was quicly solved . TFTC.

Found on a trip up to show a visitor to Nelson our water supply. Haven't been this way a long time and so had some caches to find. Enjoyed the container and haven't seen one like this before. TFTC
A couple of cyclists were sat right near GZ when I arrived so headed off to find another cache. All clear on my return and soon had the log book signed. Lovely spot up here. TFTC!!
Nice hide. Sent our most nimble one in to GZ to retrieve this one. First on a loop track around the Caves and Sunrise Ridge. Found with nickgastrell and jellylorum and various hangers-onners. TFTC.
A beautiful day for a walk. Talked Isis into coming along though there were no virtual smilies in it for her. It was a good chance for a catch-up, and a bonus as she automatically stopped walking once when I hadn't noticed the indicator had counted down to zero, and encouraged finding a cache that I had not had in my thinking. Thanks for this one. Always good to have features pointed out and a cool hide.
Wow, 16 months since this was last found. Our first time up this way, so pleased to collect a few caches along the way. This one was an easy find and the combination worked, but I could not work out how to extract the log. Not sure if that was me just having a blank moment or if the lock has seized. TFTC
Looks like the Whare has been under water at some time. Replaced the soggy log book with some fresh paper.
Looks like the area is accessible by foot or bike. Closest you can get with a car is about 4km away from the dam. Not sure how long that situation will last.
Might be tricky to access at the moment as the road is closed from just beyond Ned's Stream ford. I'll re-check the situation in a week or two.
Oops, had read the logs about soggy log and had planned to replace it, but left the replacement in the car along with my pen. Fortunately Ms E, saved the day with a spare pen.

found on at the start of our walk to the Maintain caves. Log very wet and unsignable.
Had to walk the last little bit due to a locked gate. A quick find, and clever container but curiously the log was extremely damp, just managed to make my mark.

Took longer to open it than find it,great container ( gate was shut as it always seems to be lately TFTC
Co-ords where spot on and once we worked out where that meant it was an easy find - a little trickier to get into though lol signed log an quite pleased with ourselves only to then realise you can be seen from a picnic table over the river - luckily the people there didnt seem to be interested as to what we were up to !!! good cache in an area we havent been before thanks for the cache
A great little cache this one and all was secure on our arrival and departure. Co-ords were spot on and i think it took me longer to get the cache open than to find it. Got there in the end and thank you for bringing us to this great little spot
First to sign new log. found the cache after a brief search - luckily I had the cache listing for code. Nice quiet area today. SL TFTC

Visited cache site today and it looks like the cache has not survived some recent flooding. Will sort it out ASAP.
Quick find at end of 25km circuit walk of Dun Mountain. Very damp. Both paper and plastic bag need replacing. TNLN
Nice quick find thanks after a change of plan with the Maungatapu Track closed and not really wanting to take the other route. TFTC #1232
Not much left of the whare now! Quick find on the way back down the valley after mountainbike ride. Thanks.
3232. A quick find after walking up and viewing the dam. Also took some interesting photos of the water flowing down the spillway.
Thanks

Nice little walk up the valley from the nearest road access point. The grass at the whare site is full of baby gorse plants which made hunting the cache out in jandals an interesting experience. TFTC..
Grabbed this one on our way to the caves. Hungry sandflies everywhere. Nice spot, thanks.
after a nice picnic by the river we went for a drive to the gate and strolled to the cache, very nice coming this way after a while. TFTC
Gate was locked at 2pm so joined the row of cars outside. A few muggles at the dam but none near GZ. Quick find as intended - now on to the Beech.
Popped in with Kiwi Explorer to find the cache, so that he could maintain it Never been this far up the valley, so it was good to come up here and do some. Cheers Gav [4376]
gps reception poor. didnt think it would be in the river. gave up on that idea. searched more obvious places. tftc
Nice One!!!!!!! Great spot for a cache with a unique bit of history as a bonus. Well done! Did the cache in conjunction with the "Picnic" multi. The two finds leaves us 1 (one) short of the big milestone. Must return and complete the others up the valley.
Thanks
