Long day hiking, more then 25 KMs done under great weather conditions. Had more planned, but my hike was unfortunate interrupted by 2.5 hrs, only made it back to the car just before sunset. Most caches we're in excellent condition.

I had meant to come up here a month ago with the CO and friends on a maintenance run; alas, I was feeling bleh after my Covid vaccine so gave it a miss. Fast forward a month and today found the GeoKids and I getting a bit of the school holiday boredom, so we packed up and parked in the usual spot off Apollo Rd (spying the cars of our caching buddies StarsAlign + Contesta there too!).
We set off along the fire trail on what turned out to be a superb winter's day. As always a spectacular, although steep in parts, walk. It's great to see the regrowth after the destruction of the fires, but also sad to see the damage caused which is very apparent when looking across to Deadman's Hill and Booroomba Rocks.
All the 25 caches we found today were in (unsurprisingly) excellent condition and were quickly located at GZ with the assistance of bespoke coordinates and generous hints. All up we walked 17.68km return with an 820m elevation gain. The trip took us 6:20hrs which included generous breaks for snacks and fo me to get my great back (the GeoKids charged up and down the mountain!) as well as a short diversion into Bushfold Flats hut.
This was a nice diversion off the trail - thanks, Agent Basil.

Found on a morning hike up tennant with alphabetsoup! Love the cold winter mornings. Tftc
After a freezing start to the day, was lucky enough to be part of the ‘official maintenance crew’ - signed as JICA - assisting the CO to check on the Tennant Trail series.
Decided on taking the MTB as it’s not had nearly as much used as I would have liked in recent weeks so any excuse is a good excuse right. Up up and away! Great adventure to finally find this series after the fires.
Took a detour to try to find this one. Nothing found so replaced with temporary log and container thanks to Tankengine.

Cache gone. Have put Temp container and covered with logs to protect it. Will let CO know.
Found with Tankengine doing cache maintenance, , Isopeda, Contesta and AngelG27, calling ourself J.IC.A.venturing up Mt Tennant. Not sure if I am crazy or not. Fabulous day to be out and about.

Cache 7613 on 5 Jun 2021.
Out with a bunch of geocachers to climb Mount Tennant on a Sunny but cold winters day. The bunch of cachers being Joolay, Isopedia, Contesta and the CO. The CO needed to do maintenance, so we decided to join him on a walk/bike up the hill. All caches found (as originally placed or as replaced today) in accordance with the hints unless otherwise indicated.
Container missing. Placed temp container and log and covered it with rocks to protect it.
Thanks Agent Basil for the caches, the exercise and the fun!

We put in a temporary container...
Out on the trail with Tankengine, AngelG27, Joolay, and Contesta to find caches with owner maintenance. First time back in this part of Namagi after the fires.

Trip up Mt Tennent today with Tankengine and dty73 collecting (or maintaining - depending on which one of us it was!) the TE series along the firetrail to the top.
Decided to stop and collect this one on the way through as well.
TFTC Agent Basil and the nice, flat mini-detour with lots of wildlife around to keep us company.

BoujeeBunny and Tankengine had made plans to come and pick up the caches all the way up to the top. As I hadn't done these yet I asked if I could join in the "fun".
So BoujeeBunny picked Tankengine and I up at about 8am and we were parked at No. 1 just before 9am. 6hrs later we had climbed up and back (approx. 15kms), collected 25 caches (for me as I had done No. 1 & 2 previously), had lunch, seen a hut and met a lot of crazy people who seemed to just climb the mountain for fun of it without getting one cache!! Muggle Madness!! We were even passed by one crazy person who was running down the road - we bet that he had run up it too.
It was a good day for it though. The weather was cool and clear, but I still had to take my jacket off half way up. The rain from the previous night had softened the ground, but even though there were a couple of times one of us would sink up to the laces of our shoe in a spot or two, the road was mainly just soft which I think was better than hard dry ground. The wind at the top was chilly though and once we had stopped and sat down for a little to eat lunch I had to put my jumper back on.
This cache was in a really nice green grass and flat area. I was so in my own world that as we headed to GZ we walked right past a mob of kangaroos. A joey and his mum were only a arms length away and the joey jumped up and away a little, but it gave me a fright and that was when I looked up and saw them all in their very wooly winter coats. They didn't care about us at all. We soon had the cih, signed the log and then was off back on the road up again.
Thanks for a great day guys and of course TFTC Agent Basil!!!

Another one done. Woo Hoo! I enjoyed finding this one at 3:21:04 PM with OzGeoBerries.
I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my 2 boys, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs and see names of my friends who have found caches around the country. Thanks go to **** for making the effort to place this cache and maintain it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and it is very much appreciated.
TFTC! Cheers. *Jump Pilot*

I frequently climb Mt Tennant by the trail from the Namadgi park visitor centre, and am well aquaninted with all the landmarka of this trail. Some 18 months ago I went with a GPS to find caches along my well-travelled route, but for some reason never logged them! So last sunday I ascended the hill again and, equipped with gps and my memory of the locations, I quickly picked these up again. I could also find my previous logs and determine tne exact day I had found them previously!
Thanks for the cache.

Eeeeekkk! Ants everywhere! Just as well Maris4 was there to move it out of harms way.
Found as a first day of the walk. We found the cache burried under an ants nest. When hiding, we placed it in slightly different hiding spot (but still according to tge hint) so the nest won't be disturbed by next cachers.
We plan to climb Tennant more often, so in case the nest is gone by next time, we will move the container back in exactly the same location...

With the warmer day it was a respectably early start collecting CBR_Grahams along the way that had us starting to walk about 7am. With the cool of the morning the almost continual climb wasn't noticed any where near as much as I had thought it would as we walked upwards stopping as needed and taking a few breaks. The casual approach made for a very scenic and enjoyable walk, taking in the area and its views as they appeared. Good company and plenty of conversation passed the time and although that one last climb at the end towards the summit was felt, arriving at the top and taking in the 360 degree views made the walk completely worth it.
The highlight of the top would have to be invited up into the fire viewing platform with the most amazing views and the very high powered binoculars we were offered to take it all in. Spectacular!
The walk down was a lot slower with the heat of the day and was surprised at how steep it was at times, but overall was a much easier and achievable walk than I could have imagined. The last hill up to the car was by far the hardest of the day but the esky of ice cold drinks waiting for us was very welcomed. Thanks for the cache Agent Basil.
Having left this on the way up and just come from the top it was a slow slippery walk down along the fire trail. Nice to turn across the open flats and green grassy area. Very nice spot.

So Aquilus1 messages me, "do you want to do the Tennant Trail", for sure... when? "tomorrow morning", hmmm OK, The geowife gave the all clear and I set the alarm to stupid-o-clock so we could get it all done and dusted well before the heat really settled in. So we park the car at 7am and Aquilus1 very patiently waits for me to make the first two finds which she has done before.... right, the real action starts now!
It was a surprisingly pleasant walk up the mountain, though we decided not to kill ourselves and we took our time. We walked past a few caches without realising.... we were way to chatty but these offered things to do on the descent. At the top we were invited up onto the fire viewing platform which offered amazing views, especially with the binoculars that they use.
All in all a long, but very rewarding day. The car never looked so good and there were even ice cold drinks inside...Yay!
We saved this one for the way down, as we thought it might break up the return journey and give our knees a break. Its a lovely area though I was quite surprised to hear that it was used as a camp ground. I hope you didnt have to carry all your stuff up from down below... but I suppose you can easily do those things when you are young
With BomEm on a caching hike.
Second time up here for me.
BonEms first time and she loved it.

Stopped on my way back down and signed once more just to be sure. I couldn't see my previous signature in the log.
A nice easy find as the rain is starting up again after coming up the scar with torrevieja. A lovely lunch with a view at the top then it will be a quick job back down the hill. Tftc!
Chalk up another for me! Out on the easy way down Mount Tennant with WingedWombat. Was pleased to see the a scout troop had found this one recently. Logged amongst a host of kanga-critters. TFTC!
Attacking the Tennent Trail and some today. Car park to summit return, including breaks was 6:02 hrs. Great day to be outside. TNLNSL TFTC
After heading straight up the "scar", we then continued our way to the top, and decided to descend via the Alpine Trail. This felt like a reward cache, after much of our earlier bush-bashing. Kangaroos and grasslands in this area are beautiful, and the track down provided us with great views along the way. It's a good time of year to be on Mt Tennent...not too hot and still dry.
A great day, lots of exercise, and some tired muscles.
Thanks AB...lots of fun.

On a Sunday morning I set out to complete the 4 Tennent Ts Trek - Trauma, Terror, Torment, Torture. I left the bottom carpark at 8am and returned at 12:15, collecting a Basil cache at the top for good measure. A great morning, with wonderful views, but plenty of bushbashing to earn the smileys.
I hit the top road after having collected a few of my planned caches. The road, I must say, was a welcome path from the dense bushbashing and rockhopping. I headed off for my next cache, then wondered if there were any traditional caches at the top. A quick search revealed I had just walked past several of them. I decided this one was only 180m backtracking. How could I refuse a Basil cache. Smart and witty fox that Basil. The find was quick, but quite satisfying to log a find at the top, after the effort to get there. TFTC Agent Basil.

An obvious cache to target while heading up to the tip of Tennent. Spotted the track easily and headed straight to it. TFTC.
Found today with some bush walking friends. We walked to the summit of Mount Tennent from the Namadgi visitor's centre, and then walked down the other side of the hill to collect these caches. I think Tennent is actually probably easier form the cache direction, but less scenic. Overall, 1,000 meters vertical ascent and about a 16km walk.
Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.
Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.
Found while doing the nearby trail. When I arrived here I found that there was about 20 teenagers lying around on the grass, but not too close to GZ. The cache was covered in thousands (literally!) of ants in a huge clump, so I had fun trying to retrieve the cache. Of course once I disturbed it they ran everywhere. Luckily managed to sign the log and then the tricky procedure of putting the ant-covered rocks back in place. Should have got a photo, but once disturbed I wasn't going to stay around!
Thanks for the adventure and the cache.

I have a 'spare' week of leave to use up. Hmmm what should I do ? Sit around at home ? Not likely !
I've had the Tennent Trail in my sights for some time. I've been up here once before on a bush walk about 5 years ago. The view was one of the best I've seen. Time to revisit & claim a few more Tankengine caches. I must be getting close to 100.
I was a bit worried about doing the Tennent Trail today after waking to wind & rain, but the forecast was for clearing conditions, so I thought I'd delay the start & head out anyway. I'm glad I did. As I climbed higher & higher the conditions progressively improved. By the time I reached the summit, clear blue sky, a few gusts of wind but otherwise lovely, uninterrupted, breathtaking views - with no muggles.
Finally reached the saddle with it's nice wide space and ajoining track. I noce big cache full of goodies here. I stopped here to have some lunch as it was out of the wind.
Thanks for the cache Agent Basil.

Last when in the area for the earth cache at the old tracking station we saw this bush power trail and thought that looks like a good leg stretcher so we had it in mind for today but things got away from us a little bit on checking the forecast we figured we could still get up and back prior to night fall. We parked and headed over to the gate for the first of the finds we had targeted (we are on a bit of a diet to avoid 1.5/1.5 caches. The creek looked to have a bit of water flowing in it but as we got close we could see it was very shallow and our shoes would be water proof enough for a quick dash. We started to get a feel for the hides but skipped two on the way up as the school had a camp setup happening but we got them on the way back down. We also could not find two others on the way up and rather than use up all our time searching instead of reaching the top but found them quickly on the way down. A walk with plenty of Roos around for a round trip of just over 3.5 hrs. A couple of damp logs but all signable and we drained what we could from a few containers. TFTC.
The local school doing a camp up here had already found this and in talking to the teacher they sign it each time they pass

When the Canberra Walking Group (a Meetup group) posted a walk up the scar, I didn't hesitate to jump at the opportunity, even though it meant procrastinating with bookwork I needed to get completed. The day dawned foggy, but cleared up as I drove out of town to the Namadgi National Park Visitor Centre. It was a chilly frosty morning there. We headed off at 0810 and soon warmed up. 4 hours after leaving we started back down the mountain via the trail. A quick find here. TFTC.

A slight detour from TE's Tennent trail. Some large trees have come down over the walk trail near by.. Must have been a mighty wind that did that. TFTC Agent Basil.
A quick find on the way to the top of Mt Tennent. The hint and the GPS were spot on.
A little detour from TE's Tennant Trail series.
A lovely spot visited with Geo-Dad. I remember my Mum levitating to avoid stepping on a snake here many years ago. Freaked me out, but she was cool as a cucumber. No wind today, we had lovely weather, not hot but still with views and a few wallabies about. TFTC Agent Basil

Yayy, 2nd time lucky.
Couldnt find this one on my last trip, but no worries this time.
Couldnt find this one on my last trip, but no worries this time.
This one gave us some headaches! It wasn't showing up on the GPS but I was sure there were 2 non-trail caches I wanted to get up here... Poor phone reception first, then gc app wouldn't connect, then c-geo wouldn't bring up maps, then on the cache view on c-geo it doesn't display coords...[?] *sigh*. Finally over lunch at the summit we brought up the info for this one and added it as a waypoint. Made a short detour on the way down and the cache was quickly found. Logbook is fine in its new ziplock baggy and cache is in great condition.
Reading the history now I'm home I see my last update in gsak was when it was disabled and my filter excludes disabled caches. Silly me. Happy to say this cache is alive and kicking! Glad to have remembered about it and made the effort to grab it while we were up here as it's not something I want to do again any time soon.
A lovely spot up here and evidently the rabbits enjoy the area also.
Thanks Agent Basil [^]

Thanks to our local chapter of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police aka McAlphabet soup aka Katie of the famous brownies and all round nice person, the cache is in situ!
Found this cache about 10 metres from it's home, so after performing some basic maintenance , (dried the container and gave it a new ziploc bag for the logbook) I happily returned it to it's rightful place. All good to go. This cache even had some visitors yesterday. See photo.
If any previous finders are up that way, would you mind confirming for me that it is alive and kicking!
Unfortunately the cache has been muggled. Cache location is very obvious once at GZ and someone has taken the goods.
There always had to be one! We walked on the fire trail to this one from the previous cache until we were within 100m of GZ and then went off to hopefully make a quick find. On arrival, there seemed to be a pretty clear spt as to where the cache was but it wasn't there. Had a good look around but wanted to get up to the top so we didn't expand too much. Tanks anyway...
Found on the way down the hill by the "Tennent Tragics" aka SiteHounder, Amythest Pig, Kitty Katch, ACTchil, Darzee Di and tripperOutThere. The weather wasn't looking so good, so we were finding caches at the top first and working our way down. TFTC
As Primary Evidence, Zangetsu & I approach this cache, we spot Green-martian resting on his back enjoying the afternoon sun. He scaled the mountain from the visitor information side in what seemed like no time. From here we all continued the trek to the summit. Tftc.

After arranging to tackle this series and a few extras today, the team consisting of Zangetsu, TheSkype and myself headed off on the Mount Tennent trek. After meeting up with the "Tennent Tragics" at the carpark, we split shortly after and made our own way onwards and upwards.
Nearing the top, we met up with Green-martian, who guided us down the rocky escarpment from the peak, down past "Tennent Trauma" and back to the vehicle(s) via the rock/mud slide and following the creek bed nearing the bottom. What an experience it was!
Apologies for the generic log(s), don't normally resort to this but with multiple logs it was to be.
TFTC Agent Basil!
Well worth it and thoroughly enjoyed.

Half way through the cachers we - "Tennent Tragic" team - SiteHounder, joeylovestreasure, C-chord, ACTchil, TripperOutThere, KittyKatch and AmethystPig and of course "Nutto" hopefully converted muggle, decided to go off the track to grab this extra cache, dropped off trackable "Betty" that I picked up in Murray Bridge, I hope she enjoys the mountain. tftc Tankengine.
Found at 1245 on a caching run with SiteHounder, ACTchil, TripperOutThere, DanzeeDi, KittyKatch and 'Nutto' the Muggle (collectively known as the 'Tennent Tragics'). The flat grassy field was a welcome relief from the constant downwards trudging, and the cache was quickly retrieved and the log signed once we'd waited for a couple of wandering Muggles to pass by. Thanks for the cache Agent Basil.
Found as part of the Tennent Tragics group. Was cool getting to know other cachers a bit better during the course of the day. Some walkers came past just as we were at GZ.

It weird writing this so far all the others have been part of a trail that has all blurred but this isn't part of that so I'm not sure what to write. For the story of the walk refer to GC4B97M. This one was a pretty simple find and in relatively good condition. As this was only 100m out of our way we figured it was worth the detour, after all it's all a numbers game right

A nice wander up Mt Tennent Fire Trail to the tip, collecting caches on the way. TFTCs.
I loved this place since the first time I visited, years before I knew geocaching existed. Came up this time from bush fold Flats. The ants weren't too bad and the wallabies were frolicking in the late afternoon sun. Ahhhh, what better way to spend Canberra day!
A jaunt up the Mt Tennent Fire Trail to do the Tennent Trail series (and some others), in the hope that I can catch up to my geocaching buddy. Hopefully he's out today with the SES doing some civic duty, whilst I'm selfishly caching. A Canberra Bushwalking Club walk up from the NVC, so the opportunity for a lift back to my car on Apollo Rd. The ants love this cache. TFTC Agent Basil.
Found this while doing the Tennent Trail caches by Tankengine. This cache was right on top of an ants nest!
Grabbed this one as we made our way up the mountain. Nice little detour. found a ant colony making GZ into their home. SLTN..TFTC
Oooo....nice, open and FLAT! I like it! This weekend saw a very full on adventure taking on a wander around Corin and Mt Tennant all in one fell swoop with Noikmeister covering about 27km all up. Most found very easily with good views and great weather.
Ahhh memories, I loved basil, so there I was trying to mimic Basil's laugh when over the rise 5 muggles walk! Tftc
What a lovely little area. Would never have expected this so high up the mountain. Thanks Agent Basil.
Hey wasn't looking for this cache while on the hike but found the trackable bug that was logged inside it in the scrub very close to another cache. I have taken it and will move it on! I will have to come back for this cache next time!
