Tried this for the 2nd time and was a little more prepared with long pants / long sleeve shirt / gloves. But still to no avail.
Took 15 -20 mins of crawling on my tummy under the lantana just to GET TO Gz. Spent a good hour searching before giving up again. I have to assume this one is no longer there. It has been over 12 months since last found. With lots of dnf's.
Any hints or tips from someone who has found it previously would be appreciated. Though I really don't know that I would attempt this one again, unless I knew it was definitely still there.
The lantana is so overgrown and wild that, even with long pants and long sleeves, I'm still cut up all over my body!

Not sure if this is still there -gave it a good half hour after finding GZ.
Owner may want to check if this is still around/accessable

We made a superhuman effort to nail this one & still failed to find. Which after all the slog & bush bashing in true Harrison Ford style to get there (machetes optional but highly desirable) was a big disappointment. Spent WAY too long around where our GPSr's were saying were GZ's (yep, plural: oh, no it's over there; no wait, over here) all we got for our hard yakka was a few scratches, buggered legs & a sad face. In comparison, Pelusa's Slot over the creek was a doddle.
With the effort involved just getting there & GPS signals dodgy at best once you have this could really, REALLY use a hint that's helpful.

I think I need help with this one 2nd try and still no find. I climbed and climbed. Stopped and sat. GPS all over the place. Not sure if I'm on the right level. Back at the car now cut battered and bruised ego. However. It really is a fantastic spot to visit. More clues pls pls pls. Tftc
Really getting to see the nowra area on this trip, thanks for bringing us to this spot. Tftc
I love the smell of lantana in the arvo... Not. My second attempt at this one and I found I must have been within inches last time. . There are a lot of fresh broken branches on the ground and hanging in the rocks I would say that the twister from 24 Feb 13 came through here as well. another one finally off my list. TFTC TNLN
I happened to be not far from this one in my wanderings around Nowra today and noticed it hadn't been found in a while. A bit of bashing through the lantana but not as bad as I expected after reading the previous logs. There's something vaguely resembling a path and I just kept on climbing until I could climb no more, then made the find. That rock/tree nearby is quite a sight, and the cows were very friendly. TFTC!
I thought this would be easy but I was not properly prepared. Yes... U do need long sleeves and trousers. Yes .... U do need good walking boots. Yes... U do need gloves and perhaps secateurs against the lantana. It's also a good idea NOT to go alone. I had visions of someone calling "Miranda". And ther disappearing behind a rock.
Beautiful rock formations. Back when it's cooler. Tftc

Well FINALLY, we got this off the list, we have been here for at least 1hr, my gps was out 26 meters , geo hubbies got GZ 0 on the wrong level, PAF and still didn't quite get there, finally I heard I GOT IT. Ou well got a smiles now .TFTFC
Almost as hard as convincing J+J to come back and give it another go. Close to walking back empty handed and that would have been desastorous. Then AHHA Glad to say that we can strike this one off now. SLTN..TFTC
Teamed up with some other cachers to cut our way thru the lantana. We came prepared with some heavy duty garden pruning implements. We soon had a trail cut and a squeeze & a stretch had the cache in hand. Left 3 TB's SL TFTC
What a great morning caching with friends and pruning gear. Found this one. In the past my GZ had trouble locating the right position due to ther terrain and vegetation but it was all worth while.

Usually when we have DNF we eventually comeback and give it another go however this one is just too much hard work, no revisits for us here. Thanks anyway, would have been nice to have a find and had this one off the list,
Oh man, did the lantana bash again with the WEEO - I did this cache in June last year . Lucky I did cause the cache container had fallen back out of sight. It's nice in a masochistic kind of way
Had a rip tearing time in the lantana! Found the cache with the help of an expert guide. I fear I would have missed it without him. No TB's No GC's , why would you put yourself through it. No wonder there have been no finds for YONKS
I got to within 12 mtrs of GZ, but my arms we cut to pieces from the lantana, I'll wear long sleeves next time.
RiverRuners
RiverRuners
Mission Impossible. I should have checked the notes but had an opportunity to look for this one with no planning. Wow the lantana had made it a challange I was not prepared for. Maybe another time.
Tried to check this cache today but couldn't get near it as the lanta has gone berserk. Better give this one a miss for a while until the council has a bit of a cleanup. The only way to approach is from below and you'll need a machete. Even the featured tree is unrecognizable.

So it's been nearly a year since this was last found.. any chance it could be checked its still good? The lantana is whats everywhere, not sure if thats all thats stopping me from finding it? I'm told i was in the right place! But this stuff is hard to get through =(
This was a puzzle... I didnt find this tree, nor find any cache!!
After doing a cache nearby i rode down the dead end of the road, which from here said 80m away.. awesome! (i thought) Started trekking in to the bushes as far as i could go, and with 12m left on the gps I was stuck in thorns of hell and couldn't go any further. When here, i decided I'm probly not supposed to be here, as only 2m ahead of the thorns was a wall. =( I may ask for a hint/ or even co-ords to that tree next time a have a crack at it!

This was our first DNF! How distressing. We didn't look at the photo and approached from the eastern side (not the way to go!), as we were there straight from finding another cache nearby. Aafter much climbing through undergrowth with the geokids in tow and thinking that the clue was not that helpful (will have a different opinion when we approach frm the correct entry, I'msure) we finally gave up and decided we needed to see the photo to know if we had started at the right spot, sure enough we didn't. The climb was fun and good exercise. We will definately be back and we WILL find it next time! Thanks for the challange!
This was our 4046th overall find.
Found at about 8:40 PM. In the dark this one proved very tough and we basically stumbled upon the cache after heading back to the car from where the GPS thought was GZ (which was a fantastic rock but tough to negotiate in the dark) and spotted the cache. Sometimes you just get lucky!
Thanks to pelusa for the cache.

Nowra Invasion 10. Having been warned about the undergrowth on this one, we followed the fence up and found a break in the bushes. This took us right to the cache and the view back over the valley. Thanks.

Nowra invasion weekend, thanks for the exercise AND the cache!
well this was a difficult access for sure, and Tankengine and I perhaps went a bit too high as altitude wasn't listed we had a few options which ended up lower than we thought with Marcus shouting out from below "found it", phew good to know all this scrambling was worth it. an interesting spot and event more interesting for our cars to turn around too, found with the rest of the invaders for the day, Tankengine, Marcus V, Fitzy and ABCD
Reperio at 1425. What looked to be a relatively short walk to GZ on the map soon turned out to take a bit longer than expected. Some of us went high, some low, and in the end the cache was found in a spot that could have easily been missed. The most memorable part of this cache was the extraordinary tree enterwined with a boulder. It certainly is the most impressive example I have ever seen of this.

A bit further up the road led us to Depot. Hmm - not too far from the car - NOT !! A real scramble led the team all over this rock face until MV made the find in a nice little hidey hole ! Nice area - and yes an amazing tree !

Wow - now that WAS a scramble! Especially considering a couple of us went well higher that was required! Hey, I even found a fantastic cave 10m uphill from the cache, and I was 100% sure the cache was in there! But no, MV made the find down below! - Got to love it when there's many eyes! Thanks! Oh, And at the bottom, there was a fantastic tree growing on an enormous boulder! (See pic).
Plenty of lantana around. Wouldn't want to have done this at night like Mr Roo did. Cache was found easily and back to the car and off to Flat Rock.
What a sight to behold, Mr Roo and the Bunnies out on a night cach hunt and this was our last for tonight. Forging ahead we were determined not to give up as we made heavy work scrambling up the slope through the lantana. Eventually at GZ and Mr Roo came up with the goods. SL TFTC

Oh I was so happy to do this one at night. Headed into the lantana with blackbunny. Didnt know where I was putting my feet so just rushed in. Up we went then I pointed my torch and there was the cache. Found at 10pm TFTC
Everyone at invasion was talking about how you could not get to this cache from another cache even though it seemed that you could but we could not remember which one they where any way it was only 100m away so off went from top as we were there we we got to within 10m but as we are not true rock climbers it was back to the car and alternitve approach was found. We found our way through the lantana and came to what gizmo said was gz. Well the possiblities were endless. There were somany places to look. We found cracks that we could walk through we found a cave, there were so many places to look and we where running out of light. As I did not want to have to come back I used a phone a friend option who gave a few hints but none that helped so we gave up on way back down with those hints still in our mind we stumbled across the blitter who I am sure had been laughing at us the whole time I am sure it was smirking at us. Thanks for a fun and interesting cache I like these ones but would rather them without the lantana and other spiky plants
This was the second attempt at this (the last time with the iPhone) and as is sometimes the case I was about to give up when I found the cache. I have to say that the clue is a bit tough especially when there are so many great places to hide (as evidenced by cacher tracks). Added to this I think the coords may be out by about 11 metres and the camo paint job is also pretty darn good. It was great to finally get this one as we had recently bought a Garmin GPS especially for caches like this. Took the GC and the smell of lantana in my jumper and left the memories. TFTC
Bummer a DNF. I think I was in the right general area but the iPhone couldn't quite get me there today. We did have a look from the top but probably not a good idea, so we drove down the bottom. I'll be back!
I really should've read the description better and not come in in shorts. I got to the spot, after many scratches and stinging nettles, but couldn't find the hiding spot, so left empty handed.
Found this one while on holidays in the area,Nice little hide a bit of a scramble and the spot was almost obvious.

Found this one on the second attempt - first attempt with old GPS had sent me off in the wrong direction into the lantana!
Easy this time, and had just sat down to sign the log book when the sky opened up, and sent enough rain to drench me, and make the return journey just that much more interesting. Of course, it stopped as soon as I got to the car! Stopped to admire some sweet little birds on the lower scrub, which I've since discovered were red-browed firetails, very pretty.
Took Boomerang, left koala.

This one took me more time to find the right way in than it did to find the cache. The auto routing function had me going down tracks that were dead ends or roads that didnt exist. Eventually at GZ I had the cache quickly in hand. Left a coin. Thanks
Seems like I attacked this the same way as every other cacher.
Maybe I should read the logs more often.
In the end I was trying too hard and too high.
The Coords were about 12m out for me but I still should have been quicker.
An enjoyable but frustrating 30 minutes.

After an unlucky first visit on wich I looked way to complicated, this time a had the cache in hands within minutes. Must start to look for it before I reach GZ on 0.00 m. Can't believe I missed it last time!

So many caches and so little time.
We also scaled the rocks and searched the caves at first for no result. What are the nests in the cave?
After stopping the "Bull at a gate" approach we though a little bit, stepped back and let the GPS settle. Soon the cache was in hand.
Then we found the way we should have came up the hill. Always the way, for us anyway, you find the right way in on the way out.....
Many thanks Pelusa for setting up this adventure.

Third cache of the day. After having some lunch we set off into the scrub. After climbing for a few minutes the gps indicated we were not too far away but after making an executive decision we carried on further up into the rocks. We ended up circling the GZ and had to scale down rocks and fight our way through the latana and eventually we found the cache. Excellent location TFTC.

went to GZ by bike and was able to come within 60 meters. Than I did the scramble thing from below up to the cliffs.
At about less than 10 meters from GZ my GPS started to play crazy? searched a few caves and possible hiding spots, even climbed up the cliff completely but all with no luck. After an hour I gave up although this area is very tempting and I sure will be back here. Even did this climb before to get to another cache nearby. Only frustating part is that I still don't know if I was looking in the right spot but didn't find, or that I was looking at the complete wrong place? A hint would be very much appreciated!

Finally on the third attempt lucky and this means two things that I'm blind or stupid because the other two at tent L was looking in the same spot. So congratulations Pelusa and also to the first finder Mick-Dyana. drop GC. thanks
Take 2: New strategy. Leave the gizmo in pocket and follow the hints left in previous logs (and a hint from the owner - thanks Pelusa). Within 3 minutes of leaving the car the cache was in hand. Easy! After doing the formalities and a geocoin exchange, I checked my gizmo's position against the posted coordinates (6m difference) and Lucy's (15m difference). I guess the lesson is don't trust the gizmo when you're this close to the cliff line. It would be interesting to know how many people-hours have gone into searching for this lunchbox this week. Are we all crazy? I guess so. Thanks Pelusa, for providing an entertaining week for all of us locals.

Third Time lucky for the Pirates also. I have been past this GZ numerous times this week; each time I have stopped and looked with no joy what so ever!!!!
After discussing with KLE about where I thought it was…. and showing a photo of the correct spot to KLE, (and first time every time Mick; of the famous Mick – Dyana Team), I still did not have the cache in hand.
However third time with GEO boy in tow we had the height to see the cache; another disadvantage of being vertically challenged. We did meet some fellow hunters, the Neznokhunters were there and we introduced ourselves and enjoyed the find together.

TFTC, Pelusa you have certain created some great discussion/ frustration this week. But best of all you have got all of us out in the fresh air where we have enjoyed ourselves. So once again, VMT (Very Much Thanks).

As stated in previous logs, this find was news worthy, a controversial location with respect to the coordinates. A cache that introduced many Geo teams to each other. Pelusa I think that you did well on this one, It certainly was the topic of conversation in our house for the week.
Geowife and Geoson decided to go down for another look for the second time. 10 minutes after arrival there were Pirates on the scene, a cry of “Muggles†was heard from the bushes and then some introductions and all was set at ease. With the help of The Pirates of PATE, the cache was found.
Thanks from Geoson to the Pirates for the Coin.
Well done Mick – Dyana for the FTF, I must say Mick, that “luck†that landed on your shoulder some time ago is still strong ! ! !

I have also spoken to the famous Mick; I like to call him “first time every time Mickâ€. Unfortunately I did not have the same sort of luck as KLEs. After speaking to the Team leader I believe that I am in right area (as I have confirmed it with a photo). So I will take the GEO hounds (kids) after school today, they will be able to upstage there father and find the treasure within the normal 3 seconds like they usually do.
So it looks like I have also joined the “can’t find it twice clubâ€, but TFTC as I love the excitement of the hunt!!

Thanks to a nudge in the right direction from Pelusa, I found myself approaching GZ from a totally different direction compared with my previous attempts. I was quite excited to stumble across the path as described by Mick-Dyana, and then arrive at a spot that matched the description in their found log, one I had not visited in my previous attempts. 3 steps and I had the cache! I hadn't even turned on the GPSr! The angle of the sun helped too.
Turning on the GPSr, it said I was still 18m away from GZ, so I sat it down to average some coordinates while I set about the next and possibly more difficult task - finding my glasses. Back down to the path (if you can call it that) I had previously taken, it was off into the lantana and scrambling up to where I had been searching yesterday. On the very slow way back down, I was lucky enough to spot them - It must have been divine intervention, as I wasn't even sure of the way I had gone!
Back to the GPSr, it had settled on S34 52.621 E150 35.133. I am not in any way shape or form having a go at Pelusa's coordinates, the signal bounce from the cliffs blows accuracy out of the water; these are just what I recorded at GZ, they may prove helpful or be totally useless.
Thanks to Pelusa, I haven't had this much exercise in ages, and I have thoroughly enjoyed clambering over the rocks, up the cliffs (needlessly as it turned out - the terrain rating is spot on) and poking into all those caves. I must also thank Pelusa for the hint, the route I was taking was leading me astray. It is an interesting spot to visit, and one that I have only looked at from above.

Well, Well, this was an easy one.
After speaking to Mick, of Mick-Dyana fame, and getting some clues it was time to go back and see what we had been missing all along. Straight up the hill with wife and kids in tow the cache was in hand without even using the GPS.
The most annoying bit is that this is the exact location where the initial search in the rain and dark on Monday night had stopped due to the inability to get down through the lantana to the left. If only I had stopped and thought about it, it would have been obvious that there was no way it could be further in or up due to the undisturbed environment (although that is not the case now!!). Oh well, lesson learned.
The coords were still about 20m out, and Lucy and Roos were much closer (well within the accuracy of the GPS here anyway, about 4m).

L - Glitter Glue.
TFTC, it certainly has caused some excitement over the last few days!

This Cache has caused some trouble for the local Geo-Community all my Geo friends have tried and failed and as my GPS is on holidays in Cairns with friends I had no hope.
However after PATE Pirate came back from lunch all scratched and I laughed he demanded I use his and have a go myself.
The challenge set I set out early on my way to work today, expecting to join the rest with a DNF.
Got parked donned gloves and protective equipment then spent 10 minutes getting the unfamiliar GPS set up. Then off I went, the first 45 meters was easy as there is a well worn path through the lantana to the base of the cliff, thanks to all those who came before me.
GPS said 8 meters straight ahead, up the cliff, so the choice was left or right or up.
I made my choice and three steps later the cache was in hand, total time on task 15 mins.
When I found the cache the GPS said that the cache was 11 meters south of where i was standing.

When I found the cache the GPS said that the cache was 11 meters south of where i was standing.

After Mick-Dyana posted a find, I thought I'd go for another look. I had clambered up to the top when I was joined by The HunterGatherers. We spent quite a while looking, but again have come up empty handed . To top off my afternoon, I lost my glasses in the Lantana .

Congrats Mick-Dyana. Don't know where you looked, but clearly it wasn't where I was looking! When I arrived Lucy was already there, so after a quick introduction and comparing notes we joined forces, looked for over an hour, but didn't come up with the goods. My gizmo settled on 3m with 6m accuracy, but the cache wasn't there! I'll be back.

Here is me thinking, I might be in with a chance for my first FTF on this one, I knew kalmlittleexplorers had been yesterday arvo (in the dark, rain and in bicycle gear) so his search may have been cut short, I was thinking Tuena may have been cut short because he may had been rushing the search prior to work, and I knew the Pirates of PATE had been searching in a lunch break. I wasn’t aware that Lucy & Roo, and paysandu had also been there, we got there at 3.30pm today and by 4.30 realised that this wasn’t going to be easy.
I stayed for about another hour and was going to pack it in when kalmlittleexplorers arrived with torch in hand and I wanted to see in the cave.
We had the GPS going crazy, this way that way, but got it down to 10 feet at one stage in the same area a few times, we will recharge the Geoteams batteries and have to try again.

I've just spent the last few hours looking for this one, some of the time following in previous searcher's footsteps. I've discovered caves big and little, and checked out lots of 'obvious' spots, all to no avail. The GPS signal is pretty sketchy, the best I could get close to GZ was +/- 14m, and thats when I could get a signal at all. At least the Geodog loved the outing, he's always up for some rock scrambling. Just as I was leaving, I met Paysandu. I hope he has better luck than I did.

After reading the 4 logs so far I'm now glad I didn't tackle the rain last night, or try for an early start today. Work commitments have kept me away, but with a possible FTF still available, I'll be giving it a crack tomorrow afternoon.
The KLEs couldn't resist another crack at this one seeing as it is only 1klm from home. Even a combined hunt with the neznok hunters and the use of a good torch failed to find it. Going to be a good effort from whomever gets its.
When I arrive to look for this cache Lucy&Roo was leaving empty handed and so do I one hour later. I'll return.
Set the alarm for 5 with the idea of either beating the locals or meeting a few. May have but didn't. I looked where the GPSr was pointing from the road & decided the cache was on top of the cliff. Struggled through the lantana, checking as I went in case it was down below but GPSr insisted it was up above. Found a gap to the top & once up the stupid thing insisted it was down below. I tended to agree as accurracy up here was brillant as opposed to the 15 metre accuracy down there. Decided I would watch the sun rise & explore a bit before heading home to record yet another DNF. GCA Locationless caches are becoming more attractive everyday. Plenty of roos about on the flats & the usual wombat above. Thanks Pelusa for the early morning adventure.
Gather round, the pirates of PATE have a sad tale to tell;
How hard can a two star be?
Some of my comrades at work say it will be easy to find ;
With a 3 and ½ it’s just a bit of a climb.
As I sit back at my desk needing a rest as I must report ;
This cache has not been caught.
So I wait to discuss with the one who achieves the FTF
As the pirates will need some more clues before I commit to a …….
Thanks for the exercise I wouldn't recommend this for GEO kids as it was not safe under foot or was I totally in the wrong area.

Saw this one pop at work today and thought typical, really close to home and someone will beat us for sure.
Arrived home just after 5pm in the rain, decided to keep on cycling down the hill in the mud and have a look. Couldn't find an easy way into GZ, and having the cycling gear on meant lots of scratches. GPSr couldn't get a good lock under the canopy and couldn't pin down GZ to less than about a 15 metre radius. By this time it was nearly dark, thunder was overhead and the rain was coming down hard. In the end it could have been right in front of my face but I wouldn't have been able to see it. A torch would have been real handy.
Stopped to have a think, and decided what I am doing here this is crazy and took my scratched legs home. And then to add insult to injury couldn't quite make it up the big hill and had to push the pushbike the last 25 metres or so to the top.
Oh well, we will be back when its not raining, not dark and not muddy. (and wearing long pants as the description says)
Thanks for the hunt, never have been past the no through road sign before.
