I took a stroll past the skool,
and over the foot bridge to reach this GZ by the creek
Memorial plaque found and read,
I paced out the distance ...
... Geez !! The cache owner must be damn tall !! [:o]
I was still standing on the mown grass at least 15 metres from GZ
I wandered into the long, sticky, grabby grass.
And poked, clawed, swore at the vines to reveal ...
... no caches [:o]
After 10 minutes,
I'd had 'nuff
Third DNF in a row !!
Strike three !!
I'm out !! [:o]
Not a good way to start a Gisborne caching day

Clues are a bit off. paces comment best one to go off of found once we reread
Decided on a bit of a road trip to Gisborne area as we are targeting higher D rated caches for one of our challenges and this area seemed to qualify. Picked up the Squirrel at 6am with a list of about 26 caches. We didn't expect to have so many DNF's and with so many caches needing repairs, hopefully the owners might do some checking and repairing. Anyway after what turned into a very long day with rain, slippery tracks and wading through nearly waist deep water we arrived safely home the next morning at 3.15am.
4.30pm - Great bit of local history here. Quick find with hint given. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Our target today was to find caches with difficulty ratings of 2.5 and greater. Gap spied a whole lot in the Gisborne region... Road trip. It rained on and off throughout the day, making conditions slippery underfoot and slow-going at times. Weather coupled with quite a few DNFs made this a bit of a disappointing mission. Nevertheless, we soldiered on, as we do...
An interesting piece of local history... This one proved to be a little off for us, and it was only after using the hint that we got back on track. We spied a few people wandering randomly through the area, and I thought we were being watched from the nearby house. It turned out to be some sort of big cupboard pressed up against the window... TFTC.

No luck again. To clever for 3 and a half of us haha. Got a few scratches, if cache is where we looked then it is getting overgrown.
Came back with cousin & nephew, still no joy - many biddibids to get rid of though ;o)
Visit to check cache. Found exactly where I expected to see it and all in good order. onfr bs cbfg
Saw the copse of trees, saw creepers, didn't see the cache there has been some pruning and flood damage - hope it's ok. I'll try again another day
finally found it, with a little clue from a fellow geocacher. GPS was all over the place here. yeah!
Quick find and have placed geocoins found from Napier

found tree found creepers found no cache. was our first try. gem got covered in cobwebs looking hi and low
Thank you to whoever placed the geocoin and travel bug in this cahe. Good old Keees came to the rescue yet again. TFTC.
We had to be close, but this one eluded us. Never mind another time if we pass thru again.
I was in the area yesterday so called by and checked that the cache was still in it's rightful position. I'm happy to report that the cache is still safely tucked away in it's hiding spot.
couldnt find it. looked for about an hour and by the look of the recent comments we were very close to it.
Had a good look, found a spot where it could have been but no sign maybe I have to look again
Second try lucky!! I'm sure I looked around hidden spot but obviously not well enough
Nice quick find...although the rotten corn VERY close to the GZ was not what I wanted to find first!
Since this cache appears to be there now, I better do the business, get on and log it in case it vanishes again or gets permanently disabled, although why should it since it's there for the finding. TFTC.
This probably needs to be reactivated as the cache is there, and in good condition. TFTC
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 21 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

We didn't find it but we're pretty sure where it was. It must have been washed away or muggled. It's an interesting spot where we hadn't been before so if it isn't replaced, we might hide one in the area ourselves.
I think that it has either been washed away in the recent flood, or kids have found it and removed it.
Visiting from Palmerston North. Though it would be a good cache to do on my last day here. Looked in area where it should have been as per the hint but alas nothing. Suggest that the CO look at placing in a better area that will help reflect the history of the area better and make it worth the journey as poking around in thick undergrowth at the back of houses is not a good look. Cheers.
35 steps from momument, didn't match GPS coordinates, no sign of cache in area matching hints, looks like kids have made a den there, plenty of scratches and insect bites for our efforts though!! suggest check your cache and/or consider relocating.
Cool place to come but i personally dislike caches where the cacher needs to search through lawn clippings and obvious disguisting things. Why not place it in a nice place to look. In a tree etc. Carla6
I took Dad down to give him a taste of geocaching and we could not find it. There was a lot of hose pipe in amongst the copse and appears to of had a fair bit of foot traffic through the area. Perhaps it has been taken? Though to be fair I cache without a GPS.
Am currently away and unable to do maintenance. Will do as soon as am home in 1 month.
Nice easy find this one. Maybe a little extra help from other Geocachers stomping the undergrowth down was a small clue?
When i arrived at GZ I thought this would take ages but it really didn't. TFTC #2154
Mothers Day afternoon caching with my son. The local kids are really enjoying the feijoas, so lots of tracks and trampling. Cache ok though. TFTC, left Cache buddy.
On a cache raid in the Gisborne area. This cachewas partly uncovered. Interesting bit of history.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
bought the "home away from home' 7WED51 to Gisborne for 5 nights.. fantastic weather and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. TFTC
5039 An interesting historical site… our first visit here, even though one of us was brought up in Gisborne, TFTC
Thankfully it wasn't where the GPSr was pointing, that looked like a very prickly search. Found in a much more logical possition.

Didn't park as close to GZ as we could have, though enjoyed the short pleasant walk to the monument. An easier find than we feared it might be. Thanks.

Not much left here of the history other than the monument. Unfortunately our visit coincided with the high schools finishing early? So the searcher was frozen at times while the follower provided a diversion. A quick grab while the sun was out between visits to the museum and the movies..’Avatar’ .. a great film!
Interesting reading on the plaque, amazing they processed meat back in the 1800's. Found cache in bush. All dry and ok. TFTC.
