Logs
Was a great hunt and had lots of fun, log was wet and the cache might need a refresh soon
Solved the puzzle one wet winters evening. Lovely quiet night to come for a cache. Searched wide at GZ, checked logs and even PAF, but no luck this evening sadly
I gathered the required info at Xmas time after seeing Lytteltonwitch's log.
We were able to get close enough to the plaque to take a pic through the fence and zoom in... found the rest with Google.
Today as I came to grab the cache for the March Spelling Challenge I saw that the area around the posted coordinates is now open and the work almost finished.
I was a bit stumped at GZ after walking up in completely inappropriate footwear
But reading old logs gave me a different perspective so I started searching foliage and quickly came up with the goods.
The log is a bit ruined, very damp and almost full, unfortunately I have no caching supplies in my car as it recently had a clean-out before a wof and I haven't replaced everything yet (my car is a mobile storage unit most of the time )
I was able to write on the log ok but being so damp it is a bit iffy.
Thanks for this lovely multi cache!
A place I have completely overlooked the many times I have driven past in my life- now discovered thanks to Geocaching

I didn’t think that I would be able to do this multi as they are working on the Coastal Path and everything is blocked off. I was here earlier in the day and a very nice workman gave me one of the dates that I required. I went home and did a bit of googling. I was able to get the other date from Pokémon Go as there is a Poke Stop there. I went back this evening and it took me a good 15 minutes but got there eventually. I was very happy to sign the the logbook and years since I was last on that track. Great views. While everything is blocked off it would be best to do this one in the evening when there isn’t any work going on
I had to come into the city to collect the work car for a cellular drive test tomorrow. I'd been mucking around in GSAK and saw this, and that it hadn't been found in awhile... looks good to me, so I called in and got the information, before heading off the the final.. Cool little location with a great view! At GZ, I was hunting around, then opted to look at the hint. Hmm, ok, More of a hunt and BINGO there it is. The cache was dry, but the logs been wet at some point.. no drama, I dug out a ziplock bag from my caching kit and put the log in. All good for the next finders... Cool to see an original log too!
TFTC moosebreeder1, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 1 today, making this find #2988

We sorted out the coordinates at the waypoints a week ago on a brilliant sunny afternoon but did not have enough time to pop up to the final. We came back this week, and enjoyed the view even if the weather was not quite so perfect. The cache did not take long to locate once we examined objects and looked at a logical position. The log is rather damp but still writeable. TFTC!
A great interesting multi we did on way home from CITO in Taylors Mistake. Never stopped to see this info before which made it interesting. Then to the actual cache, first the views from here are amazing never knew this path was here. Admit to going up and back and up and back but very happy to finally find. Thanks for the fun and the views from this cache moosebreeder1.
And that's a wrap. Great view. Found with Dracophyllum, who've been here, here and there before, but who wouldn't give the least little clue . TFTC.
Great pieces of local history and gun emplacement was a real surprise as I hadn’t heard of this one. Got the data and did the math and off to GZ. I have not been this way before so nice to explore a little. It’s been a while since this one has been found but all good and dry. TFTH
A bit of stop & start to collect the info for the cache then a pleasant waner up the hill for the goods. A luck stop for a breather and a fossick around and success - I was lucky by the looks of the other logs! Great view from here and I'm sure from higher up but time to go back down and keep caching. Cheers
Big thanks to ivss_xx whose log helped me spot this one after an up and down of the location. Thanks for the cache. #3074
Got the coordinates ages ago and decided to go for a walk to pick this up today on our way to Sumner. Loved the walkway and the view from gz and we continued up to the top for more impressive views. Thanks for bringing us here, would not have discovered this walkway without this cache! Tftc!
Months ago I just did the Cache and went to the GZ. But I couldn't find anything even if I had a look almost everywhere.
Well, I know the reason: I'm from Germany and was only around one month in NZ, so I didn't get the hint.
After that I wrote the owner. He is really nice, but didn't know the coordinates anymore. So I deleted mine and just thought that this is a DNF.
Months later (today) I have been at Taylors Mistake for two FTF and I know what post means, but I didn't have the coordinates. So I went all the way to GZ again and after one grab: I have the box in my hands. Awesome

FINALLY we have this Monkey off our backs! A couple of past DNF's at the final, was out this way today fr a run or two and a cache or two and thought right, lets have another look. uncluttered the thinking and ran with a bit more instinct than the last couple of failed visited and happy to report the log is signed two years after our first go here! TFTC, fav point for the elongated fun!
I looked high and low near and far at the gz got the right coordinates I know that for sure just couldn't put my hands on the cache for a couple of things that look like it could be that unless it wasn't for me today we'll have to go back and start all over again no doubt

Monckey business was done quickly - the values were easy to find, and we found a good place to park right next to the walkway that the final is on. Had a bit of zigzagging up and down before we finally located the cache. The hint object is quite invisible until you start shuffling foliage around.

A lovely day, and the plan was to take mum out op shopping, as she hadn't really been much before!! So took baby too, and we went on a girls day out! - But what day would be complete without some caches thrown in?! So of course, we tried to time that around baby and her naps & all.
Well, I'd done most of the hard work for this cache previously, and it was time to find the final today. But phew made the mistake of following the hint - not the GPS! We climbed up WAAAAAAY more than we needed to... in the end got it, but we made that way harder than it needed to be ! Especially carrying baby in our hands!!

Never mind the caches we find 'on the way' home, we were both in need of a good caching day out! It was not meant to be a completely caching day with baby, so we managed to do a nice combo of op shopping and caching! Baby was loving every minute of it except being in the car seat - so we tried to look for some on a short walk, to give her a chance to have a good run around. I think it's fair to say that we all ended up knackered at the end of it!
Wow, this was a mission! Baby enjoyed the views though, and we eventually got there when daughter realised that some things come in pairs! TFTC!!

Visiting someone at Sumner and noticed this was a lonely cache. Friend was interested in a walk so tried this one. Friend had walked past these plaques at times without noticing. Calculated right but couldnt find initially and using phone GPS so thought it may be a bit out. However a more through search located the cache. TFTC
I found the coords to this one evening but my battery died so i held on. Yesterday we were going to Sumner for a meal and there was an accident on he rocky corner so while the road was blocked i wandered up to get it. A nice view but nothing compared t what we saw as we afterwards had to go up and over to Sumner via moncks spur road and the summit road.
Parked the car at Barnett Park and enjoyed a walk along the estuary gathering up the required information. Carried on to GZ where it took me a little while to spot the hint item but it is still there, just a little faded and the cache was there too. TFTC.
We looked for this one on our trip last year but although we solved the coords for the final stage it was getting too dark when we got to GZ. So, today after body boarding at Sumner and getting cold (and it started raining as well) we decided to try again. We had almost given up when nana tabbycat turned round and......yes!! have a Fav Point for the clever hide and Tftc.
This year me and RobLigtenberg were lucky enough to spend almost 2 months in New-Zealand on a great holiday. We explored both islands and just like everyone else we loved it. Apart from all the major attractions (roturua, tongariro, abel tasman, the glaciers, the fjords and so much more) we also tried to do some caches in order to discover even more of the country. Our last days in New-Zealand we spend in Sumner in a very nice B&B. On the evening of our first day here we did this multi, which was a very nice one. Great views from the cache location!

During our nearly two month holiday in New Zealand we spend time on both the northern and southern island. Both islands happened to be very beautiful, each in its own way. Together with Ninagustein we searched for many caches, as we think it is a great way of discovering the country. Numerous caches get you to places you otherwise wouldn't have visited and it is also fun to find caches at touristic places. On this day we travelled to Sumner to stay a couple of nights at B&B 'Le Petit Hotel' and also spend X-mas there. As my 500th cache had to be a multi, we picked this one. It was a nice one to do and hidden at a pretty place. The white color has almost vanished though.

Wow! I was at Gz for about 20 minutes trying to get my compass to work. Very frustrating! Decided to give up for today and return with a better device. Told geodog we were off home, turned around, spotted the hint object and bingo! Tftc, I walk around here all the time and didn't know about this track as there has been so much demolition going on in the area! Will come back again with geodog and walk the whole track next time
Interesting points to find the last waypoint. Enjoyed this one and a few more things learnt today. The track is a bit sad from the quakes, and I never knew this one existed, so thanks for taking me there and a pretty tricky hide, was on the verge of going away without the smilie - - one last look and Bingo! TFTC
Gathered all the info, did the maths & walked to GZ. Wasnt too sure where to look, so stopped for a look just "there", & there it was. Bit misty today but still a great cache to grab. TFTMC
Today I was out walking with my Mum and she helped me gather the information for the final location. I grew up around here and have always thought that this would be the perfect spot for a cache. It was interesting to stop at locations that I have always just walked past. Nice hide, it took a little bit of thinking at the end as my GPS doesn't like hills. Tftc!
Thanks for a very enjoyable cache.
Had a great time gathering the required information at the waypoints. Had no idea that there was a gun emplacement here.
Final coordinates were quickly worked out. Parked the car and it was just starting to drizzle. Was not even sure we could get to where we needed to go, but the cache was still active, so it had to be accessible. After getting to the final location, we had a wander around. I saw something but couldn't reach, voiced that I couldn't reach and was looking elsewhere. Partner then looked where I had seen, and oh look, there it is. How could you have not seen that - I couldn't reach, how could I have???
Cache found, signed and returned and back to the car to dry out and warm up.

Ok, so we had a final search and found the sucker!!! Well done mrs walmarg!!! TFTC
This Wellingtonian's first visit to the Port Hills suburbs, which was illuminating indeed. Found a likely-looking GZ after collecting the required info on a quiet Tuesday night, and gingerly navigated to try and find the cache. It was strangely unsettling, to be honest. No joy in locating the hint object, or the cache.
Nice spot. Solved the puzzle/ cords easy enough but searched and searched for the final, obviously there somewhere but it sounds like the hint is defunct, at least. Widened search, all to no avail. Hope its still there.
A beautiful autumnal Sunday afternoon was a good time to come to find a 'M' multi for May. Nice bits of history and I liked seeing the wooden bollards incorporated into the stone wall. The track has taken a beating in the quakes but cache still in good condition after spending too much time checking the wrong hint. Enough time to sign, return and take a photo and allow the muggle to pass. TFTC very enjoyable.

Lovely view. Took a photo but haven't downloaded it yet. One yacht out sailing, probably a laser. Cache in good order. Phippa
Seventh cache type found today on a busy day of caching. Got this on the way back into town since parking was easier that way. Found the way points and got the calculations finished. Interesting reading. Over there? Busy day out on the water as a lot of boats were coming into the nearby yacht club as I was walking past. Probably a typical Saturday afternoon. On I went and there was the cache in good order. Cheer TikvaNZ for the cache!
This appears to be a cache which deserves more attention than it gets. The final coordinates were easy enough to determine but finding cache was a challenge. The verticals ascent switchbacks create an interesting problem.keep climbing if no luck. Cache in good condition but has not been visited for 8 months.
TFTC we liked it.

The first of four multis today to meet the requirements of a challenge cache (4x4 challenge). Thankfully a gentle start to my day as later I managed The Pipeline Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC231WA which WAS a challenge. I, too, didn't know there was a gun emplacement here. I was only aware of the ones on Godley Head.
I've also lived in Christchurch almost 20 years and had no idea that track was there!

I had a few more minutes up my sleeve on my 'detour' home. So I thought I'd try this one as I have driven past it a million times and never made the time to work this one out and pick it up. I had such a lovely afternoon and was glad to get some vitamin D therapy. Quickly collected the numbers at WP1 and walked to WP2 and didn't know this was a gun emplacement. Love learning about the local history. Sat down and made the necessary calculations and was pleased GZ wasn't too far away and in a spot I had never been to before. I grabbed the truck and drove to within 50m of GZ and made my way to GZ. I was only 4m away and couldn't find the cache or hint object. Hmm, must be... yep I walked along a wee bit and was in the right spot. Fabulous views. Good fun wee multi and and great final spot.
Thanks for the cache.

Wanted to see the damage in my old home town beyond just the central city. Certainly very sad to see all the abandoned houses in such a beautiful area. Noted the damaged house near GZ which I had a quick look through - a sad reminder of past events.
Great cache, which was a positive reminder of the areas history - gets a favourite from us. TFTMC

Took me quite a while to find the last one, but mostly because I'm really dense. It IS a beautiful view from here and lots of people out on a mostly sunny day. TFTC
I solved this one ages ago but only had a cursory look at the time; had found another long solved cache today & decided to search for this one before returning to town to celebrate New Year.
I was delighted to find the cache - which has turned out to be my last one for 2012.

Out and about for an evenings adventure in the area. Passing by so thought I'd give this multi a bash. INfo quick to hand....then a short stroll to GZ. Sometimes I do wish that I carried a camera - the night lights of the estuary and New Brigthon were looking spectacular. Thanks for the cool quick multi. Cheers.
Wow - it's taken over 2 years between answering the clues and finding the cache... But today was the day and what a beautiful day it was! TFTC
Well constructed multi. +1 from me.
Thank you for placing this cache.

Really enjoyed this multi and even learnt something of the history in the area! TFTC.
I had a few minutes spare between appointments so decided to go for a walk and pick up this nicely put together multi. Lovely day for a wander around the estuary. Took path tag. TFTC.
This cache was the highlight of my day. After dinner in Sumner, we stopped to do this multi -- around half past 8 or so. We watched the sunset after finding the cache. Wonderful. Thanks!
Found with Mporokosa and I agree with all her comments. I grew up in the area and today I learnt more about history in Moncks Bay. TFTC
On our way from Christchurch to Wanaka, for a week stay. From Wisconsin...on 18 day tour visiting Fiji, NZ and AU. We are staying in Wanaka and on our drive over, stopping for a few caches along the way. Wanted to take a tour of the coastal area. Very sad to see all the devastation left from the earthquakes. Got this cache and moved on... too many roadblocks to get to where we needed. SL TFTC

Visting Christchurch for awhile this morning before we head down to Wanaka. We attacked this Multi as a team (BenDigiFu)" Digital_Dan, BunnyFuFu & benny7210" - Afer gathering all of the clues we were off for the cache!! There are a few locatons where the coordinates are GZ, but you won't find the cache there!! I knew when we were at the right GZ, and made the quick find however! We toured around the area some and you see the results of the Earthquake everywhere. I'm sure much progress has been made, but it will certainly take a good bit longer to complete the work. Thanks for the hide, I reall enjoyed this Multi!!
The WP's were easy to find but not the cache. The only little white post I could see was at the edge of the cliff and I didn't intend to see if there was a cache there.
What a trek - yet no sore muscles this evening.
Collected the required information, located the correct access to the cache then headed up. GPS must have been playing up a bit as on way up there were no juvgr cbfgf let alone fznyy ones. Saw I was now well out of range, but as I'm supposed to be walking to maintain fitness for Guide Jamboree in 2 weeks decided to keep going to see what was at the top. Well rewarded with awesome views. Stopped at GZ on the way down too, but to take a photo. Finally fount the elusive fznyy juvgr cbfg on the way up for the second time. Hope this is not a sign of my lack of observation for caching in the year to come.

A long detour home after a meeting in town for my daily caching fix. Interesting spots I'd never have noticed except for caching. TFTC.
Coordinates quickly calculated, track to GZ has boulders bigger than a Swiss Ball on it. Cache eventually found. Thanks.
Update to log 3 hours after logging find:
Take care on the path to GZ. On the way down the track after retrieving the cache I stepped into a shallow hole with grass growing out of it (without seeing it) and badly twisted my ankle. The hole is on the first hairpin corner of the track. I have placed a large rock in it to mark it and make it obvious there is something there. Be careful. Regards, dan.reilly

A nice simple multi with some interesting history - and well worth the walk to get to the final - what a great view. I initially thought this cache would be inaccessible due to a sign saying private road no access but then I found the correct entrance and was sorted. Lots of workers on roofs today - I think I spotted three houses with workmen on them - must be taking advantage of the overcast sky instead of rain. TFTC (226)
I found this one before but thought I would check it after the earthquake. Still there and all OK.
A nice little Multi,Have to admit we both did'nt know about the Gun Emplacement just here. But did know that Soldiers were stationed all along Sumner.during the War.We lost our Pen,but there was a Pencil in the Cache. Two muggle Ladys walked by as the log was being signed, but having Bonnie our Geodoggie with us,distracted them from what we were doing.lol.Thanks for the History Lesson & TFTC

Woohoo finally found this one after several attempts! First time GPS ran out of power, second time it had us going to the wrong place on the track...after double checking WP1 and 2, we decided to have another go today, and there it was. TFTC
TFTC. Nice views. Didn't know about the tram stop or gun emplacement and I lived here for 21 years.

Out to find Not the Waterfall and figured we'd do one more while here to really deserve our icecreams. TFTC.

A lovely view from GZ today! As you say, interesting to stop in here for a change. Cheers Gav [5862]
Stopped to do this one before heading up the nearby valley on a maintenance run. Dodging traffic was the most difficult part of finding this cache. Rosie panted her way to the final keen to get there first. A muggle passed us while seated on the seat writing up the log. Hope she was more interested in Rosie than what I was doing. TFTC
