Logs
Out caching to keep the grandies amused. They swapped out one of the swaps. They are very impressed. A bit damp but singable log. TFTC.
Having fun travelling around. Found this. Unfortunately the pet cockroach escaped. TFTC
Decided to divert down towards the satellite dishes as I hadn't been there since I was a child when they were built. Disappointed that you can't get up close anymore but finding this cache was the next best thing. Tftc
Travelling along the ghost road home. Traffic almost non existant now the holiday highway is now finished. Very pleasant road now to drive.Could not find the hide as per the hint - expanded our search and found that the hide had done some cache creeping. Replaced as per hint.
I am sure we were at the right place but no luck, turned around quiet a few stones ...
Kids loved this one, saw one of the dishes moving and there was a kingfisher on the post.
We were heading back home from Matakana and decided to turn off and have a look at the satellite dishes.
It was nice to get off the busy main road onto a completely empty one, and we soon found out why it was empty when we reached the signs saying we could go no further.
Oh well, still a good vantage point for a few photographs.
It was also beneficial to come down here because of this cache which we were pleased was a nice quick find.
We both haven't been down here for years so thanks for bringing us back here. It has also inspired us to visit the nearby museum again sometime soon.
TFTC.

Drove up the road to have a look at the dishes but can only get so far before there are signs saying no access, checked the phone and there was a nearby cache as a bonus. Log wet so left a new sheet of waterproof paper as a replacement log. TFTC
GeohoundandI went one way to the base of the tree, I went a more direct way and spotted the cache straight away.
Cache doesn't appear to have any camo attached to it anymore, the glue is still there but that is all.................apart from all of those creepy crawlies. Now I know what the stick was for.
The cache does have water in, and the log was wet. I dried off a bit at the top but the pen wasn't working that well.
Really not sure why anybody has left what appears to be a razor blade, albeit in a packet, in there, but there seems to be lots of rusty coloured water staining everything.
Apart from that, a great place to have a cache. And when we got back to the car we spotted 4 kotare sitting on the fence watching us.

Thanks for detail of the satellite station.
It appears that slaters are using the cache for an hotel, which is a bit offputting.
Didn't extract a wet log but can send a photo for proof.

Hello, I know the contents will be wet (darn click clack containers! ) I'm not heading past there anytime soon to be able to do maintenance on it. The satellite's are interesting to see up close so I'm going to leave the cache active.
Thanks
Thanks
My father-in-law used to work here and a cache is a great excuse to drive up the road again. Kids loved seeing the UFOs
Inside of container is really wet but there was a dryish peace of paper on top to write on.

This was my last for the day. In need of some love very wet inside. Only came down here because I saw them on way past and figure there would be caches down here. Tftc.
Last cache of the day and after ducking and diving under the oak-y branches the cache was soon in hand. Quite damp but added name to log-book and replaced as found. T F T C Evofreak?
I have lost count of the number of times I've passed this road without heading along for the caches, redeemed that ticket today.
Well, this weekend is not what I thought it would be, but it also kind of is too! mrs c was supposed to be heading down to Taihape for the week, leaving on Saturday morning and coming back Thursday. This meant that my 'plan' for a raid out Leigh/Matakana way and then next day clearing out another couple for areas out that way would a few cache finds and boost my find numbers by certain prolific hiders. Alas, it was not to be, though mrs c encouraged me to pursue my original Saturday plans and I didn't need telling twice. I was keen on an on-foot assault on the Matakana 'cycleway' and a couple of other target caches on the back roads out towards Pakiri/Wellsford roads. I ended up with over 50 finds, quite unheard of these days and a mighty 15kms walked, nice. The unexpected rain came and went and I saw lots of stuff, which is good. Thanks all COs for their hides encountered.

I got cut by the tree but that’s ok but on the bright side that was the first one we ever found. Thank you
I was on my way home from a meetup to complete the Dome Valley hike. Decided not to find these on the way North, as I knew it would be an issue trying to cross two lanes of traffic.
It was nice to get a relatively close-up view of the satellites even through the rain that had just started. I quickly made my way to GZ and located the cache. Added some waterproof paper for the next finders to sign.

#6814. I have come up to Auckland to attend a meeting in Warkworth. After a long day the meeting finally closed at dusk. I needed a few caches for today so decided to put on the headlamp and start looking for options as I drove back south to the big smoke. Nice quick find here next to a rather large target object. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks Evofreak? for hiding it here.
I haven't been down this road for thirty years since we visited New Zealand in 1989. The trees were a bit smaller back then. The cache was very wet and the log paper a glob or missing, so I added a recycled receipt as a log paper. TFTC.
Nice easy find. GZ very quiet. Cache waterlogged so couldn’t sign and didn’t have a spare. TFTC.
I am off to Whangarei for Easter to visit the parents. Flew into Auckland and picked up a rental car, so of course I am going to cache on the way.
Pulled up at the gz and made way through the branches and spotted the cache.
The horses in the paddock came to investigate what I was up to so I stopped for a chat. TFTC

Out this way so made a quick stop to find this cache. Left a new log, but its not waterproof paper so not sure how long it will last. TFTC
Enjoyed seeing the satellite but the cache was soaking inside so we didn't write in the log book. Too wet! Still fun to find. TFTC!
Found it! Satellite made weird noises. Cache really needs maintenance, really dirty and soaked all the way through. Maybe the next person can bring a spare piece of paper for the log. Anyway TFTC! Team LOPHB
Twas a sunny Sunday afternoon and not to much traffic to boot for a nice easy find for the tadpoles. log book and container soaked through tho. Cheers for the cache
We stopped and admired the satellite dishes and wondered if they were still in use. Thought we'd find this cache while we were down this road. The log was too wet to sign. TFTC
Cache covered in many little slaters today !
Owwww ...look at photo of tree....

Mangawhai to Auckland.
Today we drove back to the city, our holiday comming to an end.
So much going on in the last couple of days so I have not been able to log this untill we arrived back in Aussie.
We have not been up this road to the Satellite Station before. Favourite point given
Thanks for placing this cache evofreak?

Logs a little wet however can still be signed managed to get this one between passing showers
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a flying visit to Northland with the intention of finding very old caches and anything else that is within short walking distance of the vehicle. The gloomy, black sky is an indication that rain is only a minute away...
A quiet spot today, with good views of the dishes. After a slight scramble beneath the branches, we were soon in possession of this one. TFTC.

The Squirrel and my plans for the weekend was to log as many old caches as possible to go towards completing another challenge. This meant a lot of kilometres driving and a bit of forward planning and plus collect as many other caches as we could. The plan was to travel to KawaKawa Bay and stay at Hemi's uncles home.
Early start Saturday morning with our goal to get to KawaKawa. Google tells me its 266 Kilometres one way, but with caching who knows how many km's it will be.
Left Rotorua after work on Friday with a stop for dinner (Cambridge Roast House). Next stop Huntly for a coffee and a chat with fellow cachers, then on to KawaKawa Bay. No caches done on this leg.
Early start Saturday morning to achieve our goal.
8.35am - Yeah we started to get some alien message about what the heck we were doing here. Another quick find. SLTFTC

I loved seeing these structures as a kid on our way to Auckland. I still enjoy seeing them nowadays too. I'm a bit biased and I think 1971 was a great year. I'm pleased that this cache is my 800th find. Stopped and took a photo but my son told me my selfie technque needs work - double chins really aren't in. We had a fantastic oak tree in Palmerston North years ago so I was glad this tree was the gz . A great place and an easy find, thanks
Easy find sadly someone put a cigarette in the cache and it smelt something terrible. Weve taken it out. Thanks nice quiet road.
TFTC . Yeay. found on my way south to Auckland to attend an appointment with the oral surgeon.
Yuck, I'd rather be geocaching anyday.

Quick park and grab cache. No sign of the TB. have dropped a Spaceman Coffee button. TFTC.
Had a look no sign of the wasp nest now, hopefully it doesn't return in the summer. Cache is now roadside of the tree
Sorry, didn't realise this cache was disabled, but by looking at the previous logs I think the issue is no longer relevant. Interesting structure and informative cache write-up - thanks. TFTC evofreak?, #8065
BAD BAD BAD NEEDS URGENT ATTENTION !! massive wasp nest in the ground under tree Do NOT attempt this !! All of us badly stung and a quick end to caching today
cach is not exactly where is was found as was dropped on the spot in a mad dash to get away!!

Out and about on a splendid Autumn day for a spot of geocaching North of Auckland. On the return leg now. I spotted two caches off on this side road and made the snap decision to break up the trip and find them. Nice to get two for the price of one! Parked up right at GZ and went in to make a super quick find. I didn't spot the TB listed in the cache however. Nice to see the big dish up close. Cheers for the cache placement!
Tftc , visiting from Australia , thought we'd find this cache. Easy find, and massive satellite dish. TNLNSL . No travelbug in cache which is a shame .
Great! A very quick find. Placed a TB which I will properly log once home.

Easy park n' grab, which was nice since it was still raining! Container very wet outside but dry as inside! TFTC.
