Wandered around all sorts of possible hiding places, but GPS seemed a bit variable and there was no helpful hint. Scrog stop over, off we went. So had to leave it for another day.
We decided to have a day trip up the Cobb today, drawn by the lure of a couple of new caches at the head of the lake which hadn't been claimed yet. Left home in good time and struck the red light on the Takaka Hill but once past that we were on our way. All up we found 20 caches with 2 DNF's and we only met 3 other cars on the road although there were plenty in the carparks along the way.
Time for a short walk, so we headed off up the track to the hut and, of course, another cache. Andy went on ahead - my theory being that if he finds it quickly enough, I don't have to walk the whole way. Anyway, I got to the hut to see Andy still hunting around. I joined in the search, but the GPS wasn't being nice. We couldn't get it to settle in any one spot so basically we just wandered around checking here, there and everywhere. Eventually I heard a call and wandered down to where Andy was with a cache in his hand. Log signed and cache replaced as found. Time to head back to the car for lunch. tftc

Christmas time, and we went on a big family tramp to Kahurangi. Mum, brothers, hubby, and our 2 year old. We did a 7 day tramp, and then went to Nelson for the night, and then split up, and the 3 of us not wanting to go home yet did yet another hike just overnight.
We had a great time hiking, and hanging out with great weather (Except for one day! ) and good baking!
We found almost all the caches on the way too - except for some which were just too much of a detour with a heavy 25kg pack!
Thanks for all the hides, and sorry for the copied logs, but it's just been so much time, so hard to remember exactly, and it's a busy life chasing a toddler & running a business! Eeek!

Out with the family hiking around this side of Kahurangi for a few days! Great scenery and good to have caches to aim for, especially on the long stretches of track. Signing as Team Polak. The only day we had consistent rain all the way to the hut, with no views whatsoever... TFTC!!
Edvern has reported on the saga of finding this one. We both searched for ages, but kept returning to the same place. However it wasn't until Edvern dug a little harder that the cache was revealed! Nice and dry too. TFTC
Staying at his hut overnight with Tramper Ted. Upon arrival we searched for some time for this one, but could not find it. As it hasn't been found for about two years we decided it must have gone. Had another go later in the evening and found it! It was totally hidden, stuck and "glued" in place by accumulated leaf debris. Had to dig it out with a strong sharp stick. The contents are in good order and it certainly will stay well fitted in its hole! Thanks b&w.
I don't know what was in my Christmas Day breakfast but my legs felt like lead by the time I walked here from the carpark. I was so tempted to go back to my tent and do what must other people are doing today eating, drinking and relaxing but I'm so pleased I didn't, the lethargy left my and I had a long but awesome walk, great views at the top and of course a couple of caches thrown in. I figured out the cache name before starting the search. Awesome little hut, worth remembering for future trips. TFTC. Merry Christmas

A fairly quick find after a gentle but steady climb up the hill, although the reason for the cache name eludes us. We had a quick look in the hut. It was very windy in the open, with one particularly strong gust practically stopping us in our tracks. TFTC
Mallorcatommy, con/limon and I were on our journey through the southern island of New Zealand. With the help of geocaches we came to so many beautiful places, saw breath-taking landscapes and had, all in all a very wonderful journey! Thank you to all owners for placing all those nice geocaches!
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Me and my dirty little GPS helper found this GC on a NZ South Island trip in January / February 2015.

Enjoyable wander along to this neat hut. I'm sure it would be a much cosier stay here than the big one 15 minutes away. Just got back to the car when Jackie jumped out of a vehicle to say hello. She'd seen my name in the Trilobite cache so knew I was in the area. I enjoyed hearing about her neat weekend up here. TFTC #5704
What a pity we were lazy previous evening and did not come to this hut. Much better than Trilobyte hut.
Found this cache by accident when I visited the hut on a short bushwalk from the campground. Really cozy hut. TFTC!
Cozy hut in a nice valley. I dont know how the cache was hidden, but i found it just laying in the hut. Maybe you could check the cache. Tftc
nice one, pretty fun, found it with friends, liked to jump over streams!Pippa, 8yrs old;)
Nice touch to the hut: obviously someone with a sense of humour! Took our 3 & 5yo girls on their first over-night stay in a back-country hut & this was the perfect hut for it. Hut has plenty of character & thankfully there are some dedicated people prepared to maintain it. TFTC
ran up to this in the rain. Young Weka everywhere. Met an interesting guy in the hut who was on a big hell mission. He was deciding on a route to the West Coast. Nice old school hut. TFTC
Last Chrismass cach for the day we wish merry x-mas to all cachys and their family's
Easy stroll up to Myttons from the camp site below. Wonderful weather - if not a bit blustery - to go with the beautiful scenery. TFTC!
Found after hard day of walking up to Zen Tarn.
Cache needs service as container has holes in it from rodents. Just enough paper left to write on.

TFTC. Container has started to be eaten, possum? So may need some looking after before long!
(:)) Tough find had us searching, mind the roaches!! Replaced the plastic bag but container still needs replacing, if you happen to read this before you go rather then when you get there like we did!
As we didnt know if we would have enough time to come this far up the track (not having been to the Cobb before!!) hadnt read the logs so didnt take a new cache container - it really is pretty munted now but paper enough to sign log after I tipped all the cockroaches out of it - when I put it back I found a small rock and placed it on top - hopefully it might deter the possum/rat thats been nibbling it - great hut and we are more determined then ever to make the time to come up here for a couple of nights and do some of the walks - thanks for the cache
A stop in the carpark and then a nice wander up to the hut. After no hill work for the last few weeks we noticed the slight incline for the first part of the walk but enjoyed the bush walk to a great little hut. This confirmed to us that we would likely come up and stay here a night and do a few further caches around the area. TFTC
We were imagining getting up in the morning and being able to look down the valley and see the lake

What a magical walk up from the carpark. Made a mental note to return earlier in the year next time as the flowers must make an amazing display when a little fresher. Cool hut. There was a couple staying in it as part of a 5-day tramp in the area.
Cache was pretty quickly in hand - - -well, the bits of it that remain. A rat has obviously had a major fascination with it at some stage in the past, but seems to have thankfully given up before it devoured the lot. Anyone planning to visit this cache in future would be advised to bring paper and pen - - - or, maybe a new container, log book and pencil.

Ten minute walk if you are fit!! if you are not (like me) it will take slightly longer, especially if you linger to take in the views along the way. Nice to walk through a bit of beech forest just when you think you are too hot to walk any faster it was all well worth it though. TFTC
A nice walk up from the carpark, and really liked the patches of native bush. We got to GZ and the container appears to have been muggled, and not sure whether it was animal, human, or both! Luckily all the components were there, so we reassembled it, but it really needs some maintenance as the container has plenty of holes in it - teethmarks maybe? Still a lovely spot! Cheers Gav [6866]
The cache seems to have bean eaten by a possumn - scratch marks and holes in the container.
The bag with the logbook was out on the ground.

Searched thoroughly over two days...took a photo of it's namesake.... got a wasp sting for my troubles...
WOW our 1700th cache and what a cache to do for it, this was Déjà vu for Mrs Yeetrees as she backpack to this spot when she was at school here in Golden Bay and this was one of the spots that she stopped here overnight and camped outside in a bivouacs in her 6th form camp. Celebrated this cache and milestone with –gonefishing-, boxhill and Mrs Yeetrees. Also meet a local tramper who let us have a good look inside the hut, was very grateful for the opportunity. TFTC TNLNSL (1700)
A pleasant walk up the hill to the hut. Had a chat with the guy staying in the hut while -gone fishing- extracted the cache.Have never been up to this hut despite visiting the cobb several times over the years.Good to see it in a good state of repair Congratulations to Yeetrees for claiming this one for number 1700. SL TFTC
Congratulations to the Yeetrees on their 1700th cache. A very pleasant late afternoon bush walk through the beech forest to get here. Arrived at Myttons Hutt only to find it occupied by a tramper. I made an easy grab while the others chatted to him. The Friends of Mytton have done an excellent job of maintaining this hut, and I am sure it is better nick than it would have been in the days when it was maintained by DOC.

The last log explains who was in the cabin when I peered in the window!!!! My GPS was working, so I guess I found and signed the log while fellow cachers were asleep above. Tehe. Coming this far it really makes you want to continue walking the track. Next time.
GPS dead! Didnt bring clue. All good though stayed the night in the hut in the pouring down rain with the girlfriend, very nice
It was time to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The Cobb Valley caching mecca, that is. Getting a bit of exercise before the Christmas overindulgence the goal. Geocaching providing the motivation for the couple that generally "Don't do hills". 2010 may be different [^]
Cache 9 of 14
Smitten by Mytton. Lovely wee hut and really well kept by the volunteers. Now for the grunt up the hill to Mr Belts hide.

Early morning visit at 7am on the way to Peel ridge. Cool hut! I, like others before me, just HAD to check to see if it would work. Or not. Just me there today, and found the cache in 4th place I looked. Go figure TFTC.
On a trip to Golden Bay and Cobb Valley with Kiwi Explorer. I had another visit to this area not so long ago and then 3 more caches appeared so time for another visit. Stayed in the Trilobite hut the night before and then wandered over to this one first thing in the morning. Mr KE had to explain to the people staying there why we needed to look under the hut and they were most intrigued. TFTC, Biggles.
Biggles and Mr KE spent the night at Trilobite as this one was reported as full. The next morning it was still full of some 60+ trampers. Talked to them about geocaching before making the find, only one of them had heard of it before so they were quite interested. Quaint little hut, might be a good one to bring the kids to sometime though they will probably wonder where the pool and restaurant are. +/- coin TFTC.
6th cache for the day and a great hut,Thanks to the efforts of "Friends Of Myttons Hut"this hut is still standing as DOC wanted to pull it down, such a shame as its a cosy wee spot to spend a night.TFTC
Thanks for the excuse for our second visit to this end of the dam this year. We found Corn in Reserve in February on a nice day but today was if anything better. Hardly a cloud in the sky when we arrived. The change in surroundings from the carpark to the hut made it a great short walk - sun, views tuis. We made the cache search more difficult than we should have - taking a breath and saying 'now where would we have left it' lead to success. TNLN TFTC
Its been a while since I was down this end of the lake and I had forgotten how big it is, enjoyable walk up to the hut too. what a neat hut great to see it so well looked after, loved the light switch by the front door nice touch..
Classic we just spent the night at Myttons hut last night the 19th, we will be back though, top spot!! amazing birdlife, Tuis galore, we got the fire going and had a great night, top spot to escape to !!!
This is a great little hut that not to many people know about and we hope it stays that way as we spend a few nights here a year just takeing time out. TFTC
