Stopped by here today to let DD Jnr have a play, thought i'd check on cache as CO is not currently in the game., and has been out for 12 months. Sadly this one has gone walkabout. Th area is a real mess, rubbish all over the show… quite disgusting really.

DNF for us
Got the numbers to work, just fine. A Monday visit so had the place pretty much to ourselves. That was until we started the search at GZ.
One chap wandered over and wanted to know if we were from the council. He reported that over 40 of the chickens that reside nearby appear to have been snaffled. Had a brief conversation about how sad things are these days when somebody feels the need to rustle the chickens from the local park area!
Back to looking for the cache. No luck, gave it away. Lots of human and avian activity is evident in the area around GZ. Some of this makes for a less than pleasant hunting experience. But there you go.
Will keep a watch
Sad

Little Miss Setucurst loved this cache as she was able to play while we (me and Marisa&Kaleb) counted and got the final co-ords. Nice straightforward multi and final cache - thanks

16-Aug-14
great weather over here to grab some caches, soon had cache in hand, added swag great to have a child with us so we could do some counting. tftc

11-Aug-14
Very cool hide, no sooner had I pulled it up, DD Jnr started yelling with excitement after having managed to catch one of the local chooks that we're running around. Had to rehide and dash before all his noise drew too much attention. TFTC.

A road trip with tommygun9 was decided for today so we set off from work at lunchtime for a trip down the line to Levin in a truly dreary, wet and damp winters day.
A nice and easy multi as I approach the magical triple figures for this cache type. A quick walk to GZ and the cache was soon in hand. Bird life at the near by lake was great today, think I saw some spoonbills too, a bonus

Very happy to see a multi that's actually called a multi! - Too many of late have been listed as 'unknown caches' which grinds my gears!
This was a nice simple multi (the first stage being easier than the second, which was still quite easy) and it lead us off on a short walk to the final. Very nice area for a cache and using the multi allowed us to see a little more of the park than just where we parked.
I notice there's still heaps of areas and places open for another multi around here which is pretty cool.

17-May-14
Found it! Smile

18-Apr-14
hard to find it when everywhere around is rubbish and birds poo, i got sick of it and gave up Twisted

29-Mar-14
Cool Lake ... i've never been down here before. No problems extracting required numbers (but I did make a little faux pas initially as i had done the two playgrounds in reverse order, so my calculations put me over a kilometre away!! Doh! Red Face) Quickly sorted that out, and got myself to GZ for the final. Cache quickly in hand and formalities completed.

Surprisingly first finder of this cache for 2014, but is seems there was a bit of a catch up on people finding it after me!

Had to be discreet about finding the clues as there was a small group picnicking near WP1, including some kids using the wooden play area (last time I tried here I had to abandon altogether as I would have looked too suspect with lots of kids around.)
I could see how one of the newer cachers didn't find this easy, it did need a bit of a cacher's eye.
The parfum d'oiseau (bird scent) was noticeable but fortunately not overwhelming.
Had a duck TB with me which I would have left but cache was too full. It enjoyed a chat with the friendly roosters, hens and chickens nearby.
TFTC.

Nice hiding place, quick find of the box at Boxing Day...With Stefthevet. Some duck-muggles around;-) TFTC!

26-Dec-13
Second attempt to find this today and success Smile really not sure how we cod have missed this last time. As it was rather obvious and exactly where we looked, so I can only put it down to more experience with cache hiding places as last time we were quite new to the whole thing.
TFTC. Loved the playgrounds still Smile

10-Dec-13
I've had a couple of attempts at this one before, but I stuffed it up both times. No problems today, I carefully collected the required info and it was a quick find at the final.

Thanks for the cache LeftyNZ

Quickly solved this one and a quick walk to retrieve the goodies. Chatted to the chooks that were following me around. TFTC

Been intending to do this one for a long time. Decided today was the day to clean up the caches left in the Levin area.
Again, no muggles enjoying the playground - however my 14 yr old reverted back to being a 5 yr old while we worked out the number's.
A quick find at GZ.
Left a pet rock - a swan. TFTC

21-Sep-13
The rain had stopped butt as a result there were hordes of mossies out. Soon extracted the required numbers and it was off to the final for a quick find. TFTC

Cache # 1,259 - Found today as first of 4 with Violet Butterfly. The geokids loved the playground. There was a dog show going on nearby, but didn't block access anywhere. Thought it was interesting they held a dog show in a park where dogs were not permitted! TNLNSL. TFTC!

Did today with Wandering Dragons. Enjoyed this one a lot, especially the flock of roosters! Thanks.

Finding the two parts of this multi took me 3 months. I found the answers to the first part when I came to Levin on Easter Sunday in the pouring rain, but the weather (and birds) kept me from finding the final part. We moved to Levin in June but the cache was showing some DNFs so I didn't head back out right away. I decided that today would be the day to finish what I started. I really enjoy multis and wish there were more of them back home in Canada, so am very happy to have found one here. TFTMC.

Can't say that I've ever seen the park but it's not too bad. So many roosters here, I wonder if this is where people drop them off or something. I must have seen about 20 or so roosters, with their following of hens, I wonder where they lay the eggs? The cache was an easy to find. Loads of pinecones here at GZ and hubby had a slight "Blair Witch" moment when he saw the suspended microwave cake containers which might be used to feed the chickens??

All quiet at the playground today (thankfully) so finding the answers was a doddle. A quick easy find once at GZ.

Yet another fantastic Levin spot. Thanks for bringing me here.

At last, a smiley for this one.

Approached the GZ from the lake side due to all the tyre tracks in the muddy ground on the nearer side.

I am sure I looked there last time, but this time there was success !

22-Jul-13
The cache was missing. It appears that GZ is becoming popular with teenagers (for some strange reason) as the area looks like it has been visited. I've replaced the cache, but it might get retired if it keeps disappearing.

24-Jun-13
Rechecked team Taybee's calculations without success. Could the CO please check whether it is still there?

24-Jun-13
Hmm, this one seems to have a habit of disappearing. I'll look into it.

12-May-13
I know it is here and I will find it, hopefully next time.

Accosted by sevearl hens and have the correct co-ords so I know I am in the right place, next time I will have a longer look, and hopefully bring another pair of eyes.

I'll be back !

Now the long stroll to Manawatu Rail: Wereroa

Least I broght my Kndle to read on the stroll.

TFTCSL GREAT Hide!

TB not in cache - must have been retrieved but not logged between 12Jan by Mattox (he discovered) & 19jan - not there

18-Jan-13
Found it this time! Think the change of clue helped as last time I ended up at the lakes edge!
Good fun! Great cache!

18-Jan-13
I still hasd my calcs from my previous visit which was good as the play area was a popular place this afternoon. Went straight to GZ to find the cache. Second finder today I see. TFTC

The cache is still safe and sound in its hidey hole. I have changed the question that people are having trouble with, and added a checksum to help determine the correct answers. Hopefully things will be easier for everyone now.

04-Jan-13
Had a bit of an adventure searching for the cache today. After working out the coordinates we were sent to the lakefront and had a casual search through the reeds whilst two muggles were sitting in their car watching us. We couldn't find it and being watched didn't really help. We got in the car and headed towards the next cache on our list and read some of the logs on the way there - only realising we missed counting one of the rungs on the climbing frame. We quickly turned back and began our search at the new coordinates...and it wasn't there. It was getting dark and we only had a small torch, but we had quite an extensive search. Possibly missing?

04-Jan-13
See HamishNZ's log for more detail...
Great adventure though and must come back sometime next year on the next NZ holiday to have another search for this cache.

04-Jan-13
Loved the playgrounds!!! Even for adults the swing bridges are big enough and enjoyed the slides too. No find of the cache unfortunately as you can tell from HamishNZ's story, even when we went back for a second look at new coordinates (had missed a step on the red climbing frame I think), but as it was getting dark, no find again.
Will definitely visit the lake more often as the sunset tonight was just superb.

04-Jan-13
On the way back to Wellie, with a couple of nights in Levin at the better halfs parents, after a great New Year at Mangaweka Campground.
GREAT Twisted
Details change while working out the old details for the plastic, I am sure there was no climbing wall but rungs on a red ladder ! Twisted
Could be why I was off at the GZ and couldn't find it, my checksumm was 29 ! Cool
Muggles all over so this will be a next visit to the better halfs parents for a rework of questions for the East co-ords.

Next time as if I have worked it out from memory, currently 1 hour away from Home GZ, or 45.1 km as the GPS flies !

10-Dec-12
Very late log for a find last year and I've been rather tardy in logging both the find and the TB dropped off. Great cache in a great location.

25-Sep-12
Took nephew Isaac to visit this one during a fun bike ride Smile

16-Sep-12
The cache was missing again, I'm not sure why it keeps disappearing as it is out of muggle view. I have replaced it with a smaller 200ml sistema and placed it in a more secure hidey hole in the same vicinity.

21-Jul-12
Started on this one but had to be careful as a lone male stalking around a playground is not a good look, once I read the previous log and some kids turned up at the initial waypoint there was no point in continuing.

10-Jul-12
Sorry to log a DNF on this one but we will be back Sad A the number of Seated swings may be wrong look like one as been remove make a call to get Help i was in the rigth spot but we look higth and low in and out to about 8 meters but no sign of the Cache

15-Jun-12
Assuming that I worked things out correctly and I was looking in the right place, I didn't find anything of interest today. From reading some of the recent logs and taking into account the livestock wandering around I think I was in the right spot.

03-Jun-12
Good to finally get this one, tried it about a year ago inbetween playing badminton locally & time was against me after helping a young wee man who fell off his bike. Got the numbers quickly & fab to find the cache quickly. Good to be back in my hometown. tftc

12-May-12
Nice little multi with Lilliana Vess between counting chickens.

08-Apr-12
Like many of the others we had some trouble with the clues. Initially we had the cache on the edge of lake but realised that wasn't possible. Once we realised there was a bottom rung on the red ladder just underground that needed counting the cache was soon at hand. TFTC!

17-Mar-12
#2870. Returned after the last DNF when the cache had been muggled. Quick find today. TNLNSL. TFTC.

05-Mar-12
9.45am. Some discussion arose on the various counts, particularly swings as there was evidence to suggest a further swing had swung in the past. Armed with final co-ordinates and very cautious optimism we proceeded to our calculation of GZ. The location was within the distance indicated and looked more and more favourable as we approached. Success!! Relief!!
TFTC - most enjoyable.
M&P.

31-Jan-12
Drove out to Lake Horowhenua and inspected the playgrounds. Computed the co-ords and soon had the cache found. The lake is a very popular place, especially with the birds! Thanks.

# 4843

29-Jan-12
Luckily we had read the previous logs and realised we needed to add 1 to our swing count. There was also some discussion about what were rungs on the wooden bridge as there were 2 intrepretations. StreetWalker's was correct (though I think I'd call them planks not rungs).
Another complication was a family picnicking very close to GZ so stealth was paramount. Good to turn up the cache despite all the obstacles- liked the object that was hiding it.
My first visit to the lake, thanks for bringing me here.

29-Jan-12
#3378. Good to have a chance to come down and look at the lake. TFTC.

27-Jan-12
yay first to find replacement cache grouse spot took a good amount of time to find it YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHANGE THE CO-ORD A: ONE SWING IS MISSING , this really messed me up the first time, i loved this one great caching adventure

24-Jan-12
In the area and thought I'd check on the cache given the last log. The cache was indeed missing. I have replaced it with a 1 litre camo painted sistema in the same place. I would have expected this cache to be relatively difficult to muggle - I guess not. Please ensure the cache is well hidden and covered with leaf litter.

23-Jan-12
Came after the event and found a likely spot. But no cache. Noted that it has since been replaced. Thanks.

19-Jan-12
Found old craggy but no sign of cache. Had a good poke around. Lots of muggle litter in GZ. Initially miscounted swings as one is broken.

#4693

Had a bit of a struggle with one of the questions and when we did the math and got a set of coords it placed us in a very plausible spot, after a bit of a poke around we had another look at the multi and got another good spot where the cache was.

D = The number of red rungs on one side of the circular dome ladder [including the bottom rung]. was the confusing Question, the bottom rung in our eyes was the one up from the base bolting it to the ground, to clear confusion, if you count the bottom piece bolting it to the ground as a rung then you should get the right coord. Big Grin

Thanks for setting up this multi, it shows how everyone reads things differently. [:p]

After first making an error and ending up on the lakes edge, I redid the answers and quickly found after that. TFTC

nice and safe

04-Oct-11
Enjoyed the fresh air and scenery tftc

01-Oct-11
A quiet playground today, so didn't take long to get the co-ords worked out, took a bit longer searching for the cache, poked around and "clunk", struck lucky.
Nice spot with no-one here on this beautiful day, where is everyone? TFTC

26-Sep-11
Found with Tramper Ted and geodatum during our caching day out together in Levin. This is an excellent short multi, we enjoyed the walk and the scenery.

26-Sep-11
FTF, jointly with edvern and Tramper Ted, this newly replaced cache. A fun little multi in a nicely developed park led us to this good hide. Poor "old craggy" has seen better days. We'd not been to Lake Horowhenua before. Thanks for bringing us here.

26-Sep-11
Never been out here before, so enjoyed the visit and the walk around. Nicely chosen hiding place for the cache too. TFTC

11-Sep-11
Cache replaced with a 1 litre camo painted sistema. Please cover the cache so it is not visible to the destructive muggles that smashed the last cache to pieces.

03-Sep-11
Well, yes I found it ...or what is left of it! A broken lid from a systema box, the blue plastic sealer, a couple of toys....and lots of other pieces of plastic...........It has been muggled!!!!!

03-Sep-11
has been muggled!

03-Sep-11
Sounds like this cache needs some rather aggressive surgery. Thanks for the update wilma677.

28-Jul-11
Two nice playgrounds for our granddaughters to play on and answer the questions, then a pleasant stroll over to the lake to an easily found cache. We saw all the birds listed today. TFTC

7392 Interesting contrast between two different styles of playgrounds in close proximity, quick find after computing the required offset, TFTC.

Nice easy find (once you learn to count properly).
Took an animal rubber band and cow keyring and left matchbox car and dinosaur.

A nice multi in a very pleasant area. This area has been developed a lot since I used to come here as a kid. Not much at here in those days. Quick find at the final.

01-Mar-11
I was a little unsure about the E question, but otherwise a straightforward and enjoyable cache.
Thanks.

16-Feb-11
Was in Levin for work so decided it was a good time to grab this cache, found the required information at the two given locations without any issues. There were a few muggles playing around BUT it was still ok as they weren't too worried about what I was doing. Got all the required info and then wondered off to the final GZ. Was quite surprised that I got the answers correct on my first attempt without any major issue, found cache quickly safe in it hiding spot. Signed and returned safely and then headed on my way. Another cool multi that I should have done a long time ago, but never got around to it. Thanks for bringing me to another location that I knew nothing about. TFTC TNLNSL (2664)
