Lovely walk in Mark Oliphant Conservation Park. Bush bashed our way most of the way down, should have followed the path further .. almost to GZ Did a CITO while we were there - removed all the plastic toys and broken bucket lid, and added a new waterproof container and logbook under the original bucket.TFTC

17-Aug-24
TFTC, but in desperate need of some assistance - see maintenance note after this. Was just about to give up when I went a little further.

17-Aug-24
Lid has come off and is full of water - owing to the size, that means *a lot*!

After some abject misery via some DNFs, it was nice to finally make a find today. Cheezel and I are zooming around before the CITO in Hallet Cove. Easy find here. Though a new container and logbook are needed.

18-May-24
Out with OzGuff for a few caches A quick find hereThe log us completely minted and we forgot to take a new one in with us TFTC

14-May-24
Short walk to the hide. The container had water in the bottom of it. Log book was a mache block. Managed to sign it (more of an engraving) but ink on paper....Small divert on the way home. Targeted this cache for it's D/T. This making my 10th lap. At 4525 finds. That makes the cache finds to D/T laps ratio at 452.5:1My first lap was on my 500th find. So the ratio rate is coming down.TFTC SL

This is day three of my week long adventure in South Australia. My first timeto the state, and I intend fully to make the most of it. I get up as early as my eyelids will allow and make my way out of the CBD to pick up a hire car. Today is all about geocaching and getting to Renmark for the weekend. And some late-night planning has me a rough route and list to complete.I have spent some time grabbing some real old oldies, and now I can start to put some kilometres down and get away from Adelaide. Now to get up to the M1, and onwards to Murray Bridge, but I do want another geocache along the way. Another of my personal challenges dictates it. Scrolling of the map had dictated this was the choice. A large and a little bit on the older sideof things - I'm keen. However, my approach was pretty ordinary. I followed Google Maps, which had me turn off Ironbark Road and onto more dirt. I'm fine with dirt, but this didn't feel right. I stopped and checked, but decided to carry on. Then promptly missed the parking area. Good thing there's no other cars about asI reverse into my own dust cloud and pull off the road.Off on foot I go. Down, down, following the vague track. Then a hard left and contouring along. If there's a more official way to get here, I never found it. But arriving at GZ, it didn't take long to spot the geocache. Or at least, it's remains.Buried now, the lid is long since disintegrated and every drop of rain that's ever fallen nearby has passed through the geocache. The swaps and logbook are either under leaves or have floated out. I took a photo, making no attempt to sign the logbook. Disappointing, but clearly a find. And I didn't manage to find a better track back to the car. But pushed through much of the same undergrowth and never got eaten by anything toothy or fanged, so it's a win! Thanks for this geocache, Team_Tyto - but know it needs some serious maintenance.

This is the furthest cache in this direction on my mega to-do list. It really needs maintenance!

14-Jan-24
Unable to sign, needs attention, mould, wet and container broken. Awesome hide though!! Have photo of proof being here, have my 13 yr old daughter with me.

14-May-23
Great day for a walk for Mother’s Day, unfortunately cache has filled with water and all has water damage, still plenty of good trinkets to swap.

In town for a short visit and managed to finish work early so headed off for a few caches. Parked at a likely spot and headed down a small track before a little bush bash to GZ to find a nice large container. Needs a new find and the old log was soaked but managed to sign the new one. TFTC

Parked near by and made my way down the trail to HZ, arrived and the cache is got some water in it but the recent log book replacement is all good so was able to sign it

With this weekend being earth cache weekend the closest earth cache was at Algate from home after an FTF on one last night in the city, so headed into the hills and decided to do a bit more caching whilst in the area as well.

Thanks for the cache

A nice early Spring day grabbing a few caches around Heathfield, Longwood, Ironbank and Scott Creek. Spent some time in the beautiful Mark Oliphant Conservation Park too

This big 20 litre bucket was full of water and damaged swag. The li is broken unfortunately.
We added some dried bracken leaves to the bucket and laid a new double bagged log book on top of the leaves.

Perhaps a future cacher will be able to replace this massive bucket or just bring a smaller but drier traditional cache container

Many thanks for the hide Team_Tyto

Great spot and an incredible walk up the bandicoot track. Cache needs a lot of tlc

We found it but cache was open and log was soaked

04-Jul-21
Was exploring this area today to place a cache and took the opportunity to find this one.

This one was hard for me to reach but I got there slowly.

The cache is in bad condition and the log is totally soaked. I was unable to write on the paper but managed to indent my name into it.

Really needs some owner TLC, TFTC Lucas of Loftia.

TFTC; we enjoyed exploring the area

Good find. Needs maintenance, new container and og book as there is water damage.

Found wow out walking in Mark Oliphant CP. Took me a long time to work my way down to the cache, but got there eventually. Cache is in need of CO attention, the logbook is soaked. TFTC

14-Sep-20
Logbook is soaked

31-Jul-20
Did a bit of bush walking to get here. Log extremely wet so couldn't sign.

02-May-20
Great one to find at the end of the day! The forgotten track nearby helped the little fella climb back up to the road. Definitely worth a visit. We left the bucket on its side as the lid has deteriorated completely, so we jammed it into the top of the bucket. The note book is soaked from the deluge we had during the week.

Think I’ve got to tick ‘found it’ for the system to realise we found it. Found it !

24-Apr-20
Found it! Lip of lid completely broken off- we’ve got a core breach

BTW - left the cache upside down to keep the water out of it. It had a bit inside when we found it.

27-Oct-19
TFTC! The lid on this cache no longer fits and will need attention soon to make sure contents stay dry.

08-Sep-19
Needs a new container, or at least another lid.
Thanks for the maintenance

Found on the long way home after attending the event in Mount Barker.
Nice big container but lid is totally stuffed. Left on an angle to drain.
Thanks ma77hew & kay for the cache

Cache #2176. Fourth find today. The biggest cache we found today.

Today is Queen's Birthday public holiday, the whole family went to Mark Oliphant Conservation Park for hiking. No waterfall today.

We thought we may skip this cache as it was not very close to the trail, but I had a try anyway. It was very difficult to get to GZ, as the plants were overgrown. Managed to get there, and found the cache in the only possible place. One star for the difficult is fair, but 3.5 star for the terrain may be underestimated. Just my opinion.

The lid for the container was broken, which cannot seal the container. Water or bugs may get it there. But it was fine when I checked. Signed the log book. Took nothing, left nothing.

After finding the cache, I found a way out. It was much easier than getting in there. If I found that way in the first place, the 3.5 star terrain rating is fair.

Thanks for the LARGE cache, Lucas of Loftia.

20-Jan-19
Hmm should have paid some attention to the terrain would then have realized I would need to do some bush bashing. Shorts were not a good idea and was worried about slitheries. Thankfully the cache was found without too much drama. TFTC. Needs some TLC as the lid is broken. Emptied out the water but log book is still nice and dry.

23-Nov-18
This geocache sets the record for the biggest one I have ever found. It took me and my brother a few minutes of bush bashing before we even got close to it. TFTC.

14-Jul-18
This one requires some attention from the cache owner. The lid is broken and so the cache contained some water. And it is less concealed due to damage to its hiding place. The geokids love these large caches but this one contained a spider for a swap that scared rhe hell out of them. Geoparents weren't that fond of it either. Great location though. Tftc.

27-Jun-18
Working in the area again and decided to grab this one's I drove past. Lid is starting to weather and I may have made it non water tight removing it... TFTC...

01-Apr-18
Bit of a bush bash. Tftc

28-Mar-18
Rare cache-not many larges out there. So good for swaps. Thanks for placing it.

09-Jan-18
This looked like it was going to be an easy find when we arrived. We were only half right. The hide was not a problem but the terrain was definitely more of a challenge than we first thought. Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.

09-Jan-18
Thongs and shorts was not really the right attire for this cache but all was good in the end. The cache was located, signed and returned. Thanks for the cache.

Nice “little” find here. Didn’t realise the size until nearly at gz. Great DT!
Thankyou ma77hew & kay for placing this cache here for us to find.

Dropped into the Mark Oliphant park after doing the caches in the nearby Woorabinda Reserve. Found this one quickly thanks to the good coords. Loved the big container - fav point. Picked up the TB "Pool Ball 15" and dropped off TB "Ernie". Signed log.

Out today with Rod81w and Tomboy around Mylor and surrounds on a beautiful day for caching. [^]
After a nice walk in the bush the nice sized cache was found. Big Grin Loved the walks we did in this park today. Cool

Nice easy find once you spot it. Lovely spot to sit for a while.

01-Jun-17
the cache size is a whopper, not enough of these hidden in the bush. Quick easy find and a harder walk out.

27-May-17
Thanks for the cache! It was a really nice walk through the scrub, although I probably ran into a thousand spider webs. Nice big cache with a whole lot of treasures Smile

21-May-17
Get your Hill climbing shoes on. TFTC.

22-Apr-17
Approached this via the Scott Creek Rd entrance to the park and did it somewhat blindly as I had no reception with Vodafone and no maps. I found the Bandicoot Trail and that led me in the general direction and from there it was easy. Great cache! Thanks.

16-Apr-17
Found great goodies off a quiet track. Beautiful natural forest. took TB Shrek. Left skateboarder. Thanks great one

18-Feb-17
It had just rained when I reached the track...therefore the experience was not as pleasant as I had imagined it...there was a fallen tree that had sprayed debris all over the place...spider webs...heaps of them...I did the stick swivel along the path in front of me...
The cache itself was a great size...I left a Shrek TB...
A great adventure...TFTC ma77hew & kay

13-Jan-17
We didn't take the most direct route to find this cache as we walked up from some of the other caches so ended up doing a bit of bush bashing. All good fun! TFTC

22-Oct-16
A nice walk in the countryside in a beautiful Saturday afternoon. TFTC. 22/10/16, 2:46 pm Find #2972.

06-Oct-16
Given how good the weather was today I thought it was a good time to find a few caches out in Mark Oliphant CP and around Stirling. There were some quality caches to be found today, making Mark Oliphant well worth the visit. After cleaning up I was on to Stirling to knock off another chunk in the area. Finally it got close to tea tie and I made my way home, but a quality day of caching was had.
Tftc Smile

Took a bit of finding, but good, massive cache.

25-Sep-16

28-Aug-16
Nice big find. Kids loved it. Left 3 buzz light years.

12-Aug-16
Cool find. Miss 6 found it.

17-Jul-16
We decided to take advantage of the respite from cold winter temperatures and go for a walk in Mark Oliphant Conservation Park. Due to the recent rains the last part of the walk to the cache was a bit slippery in spots. We wondered about all the root mats that seemed to have come from old pot plants and been dumped here off the track. TN LN An easy find at GZ - its great to find a larger container for a change! TFTC Smile

28-Jun-16
Nice to find this nearly seven year old cache
in a park with a few good memories.
Not as busy as it was once, but better for the wildlife probably!

Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi.
Cache for the day needed. Finished working nearby and have cleared out all the caches on the way from the workplace to the city and this was the closest unfound cache and the size intrigued me so had to make the detour in to make the find. Found a park and started the trek into the park. Wet and drizzly day so the trek was interesting but son reached GZ and accurate coordinates and a fair idea what was the subject of the search made for a quick find, signed log and replaced. Trekked back to the car and onto the next one on this road.

Today was a day to take care of some caches that will aid in my goals that I've set for the year, and the main target was a cache to fill a Jasmer Grid spot down at Mark Oliphant Conservation Park. I ended up making a bit of a day of it before the evening footy.

After achieving my intended goal for the afternoon, I turned my attention to other caches in the area. I was drawn to this one mostly because of the size categorisation, and I was not at all disappointed. Loved the hike/bush bash down to the GZ, on a grey drizzly afternoon, just the way I like my hikes!

This was find number 3 of 7 for the day for me. TFTC ma77hew & kay!

26-Apr-16
I did not like the track that much

16-Apr-16
We wanted to go find another cache after finding one at Bridgewater. Unfortunately we cleaned up in the area and this was the next close one. A great walk into here - just luck that we found the small trail that lead us here. Love the bush here and the road leading us here. Took Zip Toy, left Golf Ball. Cheers.

29-Mar-16
The rather promising start to the track soon petered out to a narrow track which was becoming more difficult to negotiate as the light faded. Accurate coordinates and the size of the cache led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks ma77hew & kay for the cache.

10-Mar-16
Quick find, nice walk. TFTC

28-Jan-16
With a bit of bush bashing I was able to make my way to this site. A lovely walk through the bush to a proper geocache. TNLN as I hadn't planned ahead. TFTC ma77hew & kay!

Everything seems to be about D/T combos at the moment... at least in my circle of caching friends.

The last two finders have been criss-crossing the state & and even going interstate in search of those elusive combinations. We could have save time and fuel by doing them altogether Big Grin.

I spent today travelling 445 kilometres in pursuit of filling my DT grid for the fourth time. With this find, I have 3 to go.

Thanks for the cache, ma77hew & kay.

26-Oct-15
As C_o_C recently noted, a 1/3.5 D/T combo is surprisingly uncommon. And like him we needed this for our next DT grid too, although we are still at least one lap behind him Wink
A pleasant drive and a pleasant stroll along a path to a GZ which was obvious from 20 metres away. What's not to like about that? Smile
And a nice large container too Smile
Grabbed a couple of recently deposited GCs to take to the Melb Mega next month.
Signed the log
Wandered back up the hill.
I note that Sir Marc Oliphant was one of my childhood heroes - an impressive man!

25-Oct-15
A 1/3.5 D/T combo is surprisingly rare and with only 3 combinations to go for our 4th loop we decided to run to the hills today.
The track in was in good knick and after a short bush bash the cache was soon discovered by our geodaughter.
A nice place to leave a few TB's we'd been holding on to for way too long.
