Logs
I finally made a detour down to the is cache. I haven't been here for years. I spent some time looking at the trees before spotting the cache on the ground. I suppose that could be chest height if you've fallen over your shoelaces.
Quick find here. Log is full so need replacement. Sorry I didn't have a spare with me. Tftc
1500th cache right here, log was missing the lid but log is all good.
Beware of the ants, M13 was a bull at a gate and dove his fingers in there to have them nibvled on lol.

Unfortunately the cache is I. Need of some TLC. There is a tree that looks like it has blown over in a storm. The cache was on the ground minus its lid. We emptied out the water and signed the log (thankfully RITR paper) and then replaced the cache where we thought it should be. Thanks for the placement Wonderstuff.
Another dot day complete but made this much harder then it was! After reading previous logs could work out where it was. GPS only 4m off. No creepy crawlers today but felt a little scared searching as the light was fading and the car park filling!! SL PBB to save space (and pen wasn’t working well!). TFTC
On my way up to Orewa for a barby with friends.
A few caches on the way.
Quick find here.

Was a bit higher than I was expecting but found it ok. I’m obviously a little shorter than the average.
As previously stated, there is no lid so it was wet inside and had a resident. (Weta)
Resident relocated to a nearby tree and cache put back in a way it hopefully doesn’t get wet again. Or any residents.
Thanks.

We searched around for the cache.
It was soon spotted
Thankfully we had four of us searching signed as inss
Thank you for the cache

As others have said there was lid on the cache. Left it turned upside down to help any moisture find its way out. TFTC # 16,132
It always helps to have 4 sets of eyes when looking for caches and they were needed here as Mrs SoBad spent time looking where it wasn't until the 'found it' was heard. A few vehicles went past us here but the drivers showed no interest in us.
Thanks.
Thanks.
NZ Travellers have a big milestone in sight and a cache they are aiming for so they need to get their numbers up a bit for the stars to align at the right time. A plan was devised to hit this general area and a bonus of an event today! Weather was foggy when we started but the sun came out and we had a great day!
Have always seen this place from the motorway but never got up close. Still didn't today but did get close to the cache!
Thanks for the cache.

We are working our way to our milestone 6000th cache find and are planning a trip up north in October to celebrate, therefore a caching day, to get a few numbers, was planned with Keylev and Laval. What started as a foggy and/or cloudy day (we couldn't decide which) turned into a glorious sunny spring day and after caching our way to Long bay for an event, we headed north to get some power caching done!
Our second to last cache after a very successful day in the north. TFTC!

Found whilst out with NZ Travellers and keylev.

For an upcoming Challenge cache I aim to set I need some more TWS caches to get past 100 finds of theirs. This helped with that goal, as did a few others later. All good here except no lid on the container. Gravity will help though
Into the car doing some pork and garbs, and a few towards Silverdale. After the couple of hours of mingling, chatting and 'hosting', everyone dispersed to their own plans and agendas and I had a plan to head to the end of the track at Long Bay and back, caching as I went (of course). I reckon it took me a full 2 hours to get to tracks end, but only 40 minutes from there back to the car. The sun was out, and so were the other walkers but all good and not seen by anyone for any caches, super-stealth mode.
Quite an interesting geocaching day for me today in a number of ways. First up I'm hosting my awarded Celebration Event at Long Bay after the Covid-spoiling one was cancelled at Hobsonville a while back. And that also means I get to attend/find my first cache-type of Celebration event, a new cache Icon. And best of all I get to meet the geocaching community up here in the mighty Auckland area. I've cached here (in moderation) a few times over the last 13 years of living here in NZ, but never lived in the 'big smoke'. That all changed a couple of ,months ago and suddenly this target rich environment is starting to bear fruit (caches).
So, I was out of the house at around 0630 this morning with a wish to get some in before event a clock, which was all good as I managed a few finds early doors. All up today I managed just over 60 finds which was good, and after a misty start the sun attended and all was good, and hot. A D5 cache, meeting some new friends and a decent 15km walk was testament to a successful day, and a Silverdale Burger Fuel for a feed too, awesome-ness was experienced. I even managed to knock off the last few Smile puzzle finals to make my round face beam (geo-icon, not my real face!) T F T C all COs today.

Nice easy find. As has been mentioned, it is in need of some TLC but we were still able to sign the log book. TFTC
Easy find, not hidden well and full of spiders/cockroaches and tomato sauce sachet's as it didn't have a lid. Maintenance required on this one.
On our way back from Orewa, stopped in to grab another cache for the museum souvenir. Parked up right by the cache and it was a quick find, thanks
A water slide was in action today, lots of people around. . . . too hot for the snow.

Clever cache. It looks like it has gone through the lawnmower though. Missing its lid and was full of water and some roaches. Needs some TLC
Nice easy find. High muggle area with traffic, so need to be stealthy! Cache has no lid but was still dry inside. May be wise to replace it with one though?
Parked very close to GZ and after a brief search the cache was located. The lid is gone, but there is a new waterproof log so cache should be ok for a while.
Last cache for the day (thank goodness) I started in the dark this morning and ended in the dark. Am I mad? Am I insane? Probably… I found the cache very full of water and the paper turned to mush. So replaced with waterproof paper and turned the cache upside down, relying on the paper sticking to the inside of the cache. Should last quite awhile I reckon. You owe me TWS, I shall take my payment in French francs thank you very much!
Introducing a little buddy to Geocaching after tubing at snowplanet. Lid is missing from container so cache is waterlogged. We tried to dry the log with a towel but the paper is so soaking that you can’t sign it. Nice camo, it was staring me in the face but I didn’t spot it, hubby did! TFTC
Found it ... it's a bit wet and muddy at the moment and the container is not water tight so couldn't write in it. Didn't have time to ski
I happened to be here with a school group and got to spend four hours Snowboarding. Today was the first time I had tried jumps before-scary, but fun and luckily I didn't have a crash all day. Unfortunately one of the students was not so lucky and after a bad fall on his last run found he couldn't remember most of the day, which was a real shame since it was his first snow experience. As others have mentioned the log is practically pulp. I tried to sign with little luck and took a picture for proof of the find.
Thought we would look for these caches that are super close to home, 1st for the night. Easy find even in the dark, but could not sign log or even replace it because it's not water proof and soaking wet. But TFTC
Just thought I'd take a picture of how wet this one is, needs to be fixed or changed so it's waterproof, especially after all this rain were having. thanks for the cache anyway
Found it but didn't sign and didn't have more paper to leave as it's very Waterlogged. Thanks.
