Another disappointing hunt for a missing cache.

06-Aug-10
Haven't been on geocaching for a while. I will check this cache within a week.

25-Jul-10
We even jumped over the fence, does not look like private land. Then we found a small whole in the brick post which was empty. As this cache has not been found for a while it should be checked by the owner. Thanks

12-Jul-10
We have to join the ranks of DNFs for this one. A pity as it was our only DNF from Nelson to Christchurch.

27-Jun-10
Is the cache located on Public land? It seems like a landscaped area. Not sure if the council or who ever owns it would appreciate us Geocachers scrounging through their planting. Area very busy with muggles driving by.

Wazza and the Wenches have invaded NZ on a (caching) holiday. Surprisingly the Wench is happy for BBTD and Wazza to chase caches wherever we go.

Today our trip started in Christchurch and ended in Blenheim.

After being told about this cache at the WWFM event earlier in the day we decided to stop and have a quick look. While keep a keen watch out for the security patrol we managed to narrow the search area down to a very specific spot but it didn't gell with the cryptic clues given to us earlier. We reluctantly departed without finding the cache but also without attracting th attention of the security staff.

Thanks for the challenge Angusp2 and Nic.

No luck today

14-Mar-10
No luck on this one today, but will return for another look. I have no problem with nano's/micro's that have no clue...just part of the game unlike previous log comment!!! good to get the ocassion dnf to keep you honest, thanks for the hide...I'll be back!

14-Mar-10
A tricky one-tried all the obvious places-but no luck -graemey from the UK tried with my son in law richbritty (a kiwi)

08-Mar-10
Was starting to have a look when the security guard showed up. Having to avoid him has put me off this cache with no hint.

Given the location isn't somewhere people would normally be there really needs a hint to allow a snatch and grab approach.

20-Feb-10
No luck with this.

16-Jan-10
Some of the small fingers with us found it, forgot a pen though. TFTC

13-Jan-10
Nope. Nice place to hide a nano though.

08-Jan-10
Found eventually this one in the rain. Took as long to extract the log and to replace. Interesting featuresTFTC

06-Jan-10
Thought about it for a couple of days and thought I knew where I should have a closer look. I was right thankfully in and out within 5 mins. Can't believe the number of cars that turn into the town so went to have a closer look myself.

Found the cache as well as two other suspicious looking folk loitering in the area - Nice to meet Dekway as we had been following them around the area for the morning.

Was standing by the fence undecided whether I was going to climb over or not when Womble-bbt came and introduced themselves. They said the coords were well out. (they found the cache before the coords were updated) I felt too exposed to stay long. Maybe next time.

Found with assistance and it was nice to meet NZTIKES. Our distance was well out. I`ll have to start reading the logs better and catching changes.

Not as difficult as the rating suggests, or did I just get lucky? TFTC

[Searched around, but no joy. Suspect the "over the fence in the garden area" makes it private land though - it's not normal to have to scale a fence to geocache. There was an empty obvious spot where there was a ]missing bolt[ but no other places that seemed likely.]

29-Dec-09
Thought of a few sneaky ways to hide a nano, but none came up with a cache.
may need checking

29-Dec-09
The Co-ords are way out and I will check the cache to see if it is still there.

26-Dec-09
Couldn't find this but gave ourselves a time limit as we needed to get to the airport. Did see an obvious place which was vacant though.

24-Nov-09
The log book is now full it needs replacing ASP

This was our 4th try.The last time here the Pegasus Security Man stopped and asked us what were we doing as he had seen us on a security camera opps didn't know there was one so we showed him the log sheet and told him what we were doing. But he wasn't very impressed about us being here so we left. But with the help of another Geocacher we came back and finnaly knocked it off.Yep it certainly was a tricky hidey place. The log book is full as we were last to sign it.TFTC.

This was a very sneaky hide. Took us a while to find. It shows you have to look very carefully. TFTC.

Worked out a likely location in consideration of the necessary offset after reading previous logs and turns out cache was in the first place I looked but I completely missed it.
Quite a lot of searching later I decided to take the PAF option for a further hint (or two) and found myself back where I started and there it was!
Very sneaky hide but suggest co-ords are updated, even with a spot on GZ it would still be a hard one to find.

Many thanks.

3021. It wasn't easy to search in such a public area - with cars passing constantly in all directions. The GPS wasn't much use either. After nearly giving up but then going back for another try we had success!!

Thanks
Iris & Rodney

Coords are over 11m out (the tree on the lawn).

Well, I have to say PB invested a good amount of time in this search. He had four trys at finding it and Annie had one go (but she wasn’t so keen on searching in such public spot, plus the Pegasus Security car kept driving past!!) Anyway, on the fourth try PB looked at a different ‘structure’ and there it was!! We’ve never seen a cache as small as this before. Well done on a sneaky hide. We did however find that our GPS put GZ out on the grass, which wasn’t too helpful to us. The sculptures are really interesting and Annie occupied a bit of her time taking photos of them. TNLN TFTC

24-Oct-09
Found eventually. After widening the search, I started looking in the right place - but decided that it couldn't be there, as it was over 11m out. After reading the notes I realised that WAS where it was. Nice hide, but spoilt by having coords way out, as several others have said. TNLN TFTC.

My, this must be Pegasus highway! So many vehicles coming & going! Glad to find this cleverly hidden cute cache. Then drove around the area as it was barren when last here years ago. #909

18-Oct-09
This one took some hunting, even after looking through the logs for some ideas we where still at a loss, determined to find it we looked everywhere again and in a spot we had all looked 3 or 4 times already, we got it.

Stoked with this find.

Cheers.

Cycled back for a second look. Yea! It's a find this time. Great hide. Another challenging cache from Angus and his friend. Thanks for the cache.

OK, that was a bit easier today in the bright light of day. Cheers Gav [4481]

09-Oct-09
first find with new gps

08-Oct-09
We don't how she did it but Miss Beanso (8yrs) nabbed this one within seconds of decoding the clue.
If she wasn't with us we'd still be wandering round scratching our heads. What a clever little (or should that be minute) cache !!! Thanks for the fun as we headed north home to Nelson. Cool

After all the DNF logged here I was wondering if it was to be found, but after much hunting found the reason the cache had fallen down a hole inside the structure and after a bit of a struggle with some small sticks manage to fish it out, blocked the hole with a bit of wood so it couldn't happen again and signed and re-hid the cache. TCTC

So, another two DNFs brings the ratio up to 4:7 in favour of DNFs. This is not a difficulty 2 cache, going by the find history now, it should be at least D3.5. Sigh. Really not sure why a micro wasn't placed here instead. Cheers Gav

05-Oct-09
Damn - this one eluded us.
Think I know where it may have been - it could be missing if I'm right (but am I right??)

04-Oct-09
Had a reasonably look but with no hint to help focus the search area it really is a needle and haystack situation.

30-Sep-09
Another DNF.

29-Sep-09
Bumma. This is my 3rd DNF in a row this afternoon! Must be losing my touch. I'll be back.

26-Sep-09
Not sure if the spot were we thought it should be had been muggled or we were not looking in the right spot. Will try again next time we go past.

26-Sep-09
Another DNF?

26-Sep-09
When I arrived at the cache area I thought there were muggles there but turned out to be the cache owner and he was just leaving, The cache took a bit of finding but got it in the end, a very tricky one , well done. and nice to meet you. keep up the good work with your caches. Cheers Bo

Couldn't believe it! Four joint FTF's in two days! This was a huge morning for Streetwalker and Troodles. This nano was found purely out of luck. Clever hide!

Fwankie found this one - nicely hidden. This is the first time I've been past since the Pegasus entrance since the landscaping has been done. Looks like it's coming on nicely. Must explore there sometime.
TFTC.

#898 (FTF 26, 3/12 on a North Canterbury trip). Quick FTF with Troodles and Fwankiebutwhy (who was on to it quickly). Interesting entrance way. Must come back for a drive around Pegasus. TFTC.
