While the area is now safe to return to. I cannot get there for a while so this will be archived and in due course will be replaced with a more fireproof container and moved to a better more protected location, as a new cache.
out in the area for an abseiling activity and while we were waiting zeak12 and I decided to have a go at this one. getting to gz was a real challenge due to the rain making everything both wet and slippery but eventually we got to 1m accuracy then the fun began. we started at gz with a good search and then expanded out, after a bit more of a search I looked at some previous logs and a hint about height eventually had it spotted by zeak. dug it out and made the log then trudged back through the drizzle to the bus. this was a real challenge due to the poor weather but still worth the effort.

Had planned a day of caching in the area (same area we had discovered yesterday as more accessible than first thought). But a lazy start to the day, a meet up with whitemushroom, followed by lunch in a Lithgow Park + a chemist run for some pain killers, we only got in this cache and a nearby GCA. Clambering up, over, under, down and every other way...........an eventual find! Great Spot, the rock formations in this area are well worth seeing.

Following a visit to the Mining Museum with All Strung Out this area was suggested for a seek (with ASO there the previous day). A fascinating walk along the track with the varying hollowed sandstone formations to keep interest, and camera clicking. The senior ASO team split for high and low, then joint for a low scrabble...whitemushroom baulked at the low, reversed, and found another way that put within a (GPSr) metre of the GZ, with the ASO team still scrabbling but closing. It was there, it had to be there, but not to be found, except at the fading spirits moment, Mr ASO (Mrs ASO having bailed) caught the glimpse of the hide from his lower scrabbling climb. TFTC
A rogerw3 location at its best ... and an appropriate Cache name ... impressive rock and cliff.

Have always loved this spot since we moved to the area but never been down to this particular corner.

After camping at Newnes overnight, we headed to Glow Worm Tunnel on our way home. Of course, we stopped for a few caches on the way .
Bikerbuddy had already done this one, but sometimes prior knowledge doesn't help. We got to a point where we could go two ways. Our GPS's both indicated one way was best, so that's where we went. Turned out we had to bush bash this way, and the other way (which we took out) was the easy way .
Once at GZ I spotted a likely looking spot, but couldn't see the cache. There were other spots worth checking out (lots of other spots!), but none of them concealed a cache. Bikerbuddy went down another level to see if it was down there, while I went back to my initial spot & this time gave it a better look. And there was the cache!
Thanks roger, great location! . Pity about all the broken glass .

Other than cutting my toe open trying to kinda climb down a CLIFF... was heaps fun finding it!
Just going out that way for Abit of an adventure.. realized that there was this one close by!? Great views Geo Yeah!!
1605 On the way into the FYAO@Lithgow Event I saw this on the GPS, and went slowly by looking for a likely pull-over spot, but only saw it on the way home. Glad I stopped and took the walk. Lovely spot; but CITOed 6 x glass bottles to recycle at home (Taree), and there was still a few more there, and lots of broken glass worse luck.
The new pen worked, so left a pair of scissors, and a "Correct Site Marker" - surgical marking pen.
Through: Coins - 3Bros, AustLighthouse, Iconic Bridges, B2B ingot, Baa, Neigh and Oink, SummerLovin521 TB, Bear Bait TB, and Penny Penguin TB, and trackable shirt.
TFTC rogerw3 (there was a couple of Trigs 'close by' but it is a long trip back to Taree, some other time.

Great views on stunning day! Pen is not working so I will bring up a new one tomorrow and sign log.

After stopping by and showing me a couple of nearby caches, team stillookin kindly brought me to this interesting location. With the rain still lightly falling, we had to take a little extra care over the rocks, but soon found ourselves at GZ unscathed, and the cache found nicely ticked away out of sight.
Another fantastic locations full of wonderful and interesting rock formations.
Many thanks to team stillookin for taking the time to show me around.

TFTC great location beautiful day great views. Fortunately we had a team going increasing the search ability. Thanks for taking us to such a beautiful place. TN L koala.
Three sets of eyes looked all over for this one with no joy. Still this has got to be one of the best secret lookouts in the Blue Mountains. Really love the short walk along this ridge.
Thanks rogerw3 for planting a cache out here.

Pprass had it right, we nearly stepped upon the cache, then looked all around for it! Eventually returning to the start and a find.
Fantastic cliffs across the valley. Really worthwhile spot to bring us.
Thanks, Robmc.

The second day of our Blue Mountains expedition with Pprass and Robmc. The drive up to reach this cache through the canyon was specular with the towering columns. It wasn't till we had located the cache that the significance of the name was sighted.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt rogerw3.

Found at 11:55:50 AM GAFF5 in the company of Phetlern and Robmc. This place reminded us of the Mirima NP in Kununurra - something like a mini Bungle Bungles.
Went straight to GZ and then spent ages looking all around for the cache!
Thanks rogerw3.

Thanks Rogerw3. I found my second pathtag here. I have to log it yet. Great view.
The road up to this cache eventually leads to the Glow Worm Tunnel and over the past few years I have ridden out to the tunnel, so I'm fairly familiar with it. This was the first time I've ever taken this detour however. I've always loved this part of the country. There's something weathered and ancient about these rocks. We found this after a few minutes of looking. I left a TB behind to continue its journey. Hope it's not too long before someone moves it along. Thanks
The kids said the rock formations reminded them of the three sisters. So we nicknamed it the three brothers. The rocks are just amazing and the view great too. Being a geography teacher, I can get my rocks off on this one!
Another cache that we were going to drive to, but our geo-chariot was not equipped so we left it for another time!
Found together with colleagues rogerw3 and Team Canary on an all-day geocaching expedition in Lithgow.
Another great rogerw3 cache!
I had never been in this area before and really enjoyed the views, which would have been even better without the rain and fog. However, the namesake feature across the way was very evident.
Despite the inclement weather, it was still a lot of fun.
Cache container was in good shape and the contents, including the log book, were dry. This was another very well-presented rogerw3 cache, with lots of goodies.
I took a little torch! LNSL. (Will leave something of equal value in another cache.)
Many thanks, rogerw3, for leading me to this great place!

Hiking to the Glow-worm-tunnel in Lithgow. High cliffs. The kids liked to jump on the dangerous
peaks - all went well. Thanks. hunt4kuster, Sydney.

Since I was in the area I went to check this cache, all is fine. Left Pathtag and picked up Geocoin.
Done this one the hard way. Stopped on the road direct bellow GZ. Walked bit further, where we could find a gully between the rocks to scramble up - just to find there is a fine road, if we would have just driven hundred meters further. Hmmm. Beautiful views were well earned. Took the easy way back thou. In: smiley and Bumerang GC. Out: Geobash wooden coin. TFTC.
What a VIEW!! Interesting walk down. Took: Cornwall 2008 Geocoin, Left: Pink ring. TFTC - SL.
After attempting this one the previous afternoon without success we called on the services of Team Stillookin who managed to assist in locating the goods. What a spectacular spot this was! Thanks for a great cache.
It was late afternoon when we first attempted this one and the gizmo was bouncing all over the place. Today however it was alot better and witht he company of Team-Stillookkin we came up with the find. My truck barely made it through the last pinch. Its pretty narrow with that tree and rock face.
left another coin. Thanks
left another coin. Thanks

After a bite to eat in town we soon bumped our way to our chosen parking spot. The short stroll to GZ was pleasant, but we had to search for a while before locating the cache. Lots of interesting rock around here and we were both quite interested in the crack in the wall opposite. It would be great for a little fun with ropes.
We took some pictures, and I was sufficiently distracted that I had to return a little later to retrieve my GPSr.

Hmmm, we must have tarried a tad too long at Maccas on 2nd breakfast, but, it had been over 5 hours since I had eaten and longer for Wingnut.
Such an easy place to get to, bar that one step-up which really aint that hard and you are then nearly there, we liked the place so much, some of use felt the need to revisit!
We parked and walked the last little bit, a really impressive area for monolithic sized pagodas, and that crack over yonder is just begging for a cache!! Wonder if it is far enough away, hmmmm. This one actually took us a while to find as well, so many potential hiding spots to look and also so many dimensions as well. Finally, from the correct angle between myself, the sun and the moon, I espied the prize.
Took many photos, had a blast!!
Roger, that wasnt you over yonder setting another cache was it? Noticed a solo walker working their way back up the hill.
Cheers

Found in the company of the Views Tour Team...the start of a great weekend in the Newnes area...thanks to rogerw3 for all your caches...they do not disappoint.
A nice short morning walk and climb to a great spot to start my weekend's caching with a great team. An entree for things to come.

While waiting for the rest of the Views attack team to arrive for a weekend of camping and caching I thought I'd attempt this cache after my success at the other one nearby.
Again the 4WD aspect was challenging and enjoyable, as where the views. Unfortunatley my attempt at the find resulted in a DNF.
Fortunatley on my way back from town I bumped into the gang and a few more sets of eyes resulted in a find. Hurrah!

Wow, we always wondered where this little track went to - and now we know!
An amazing spot so close to the main road. An easy find as our first for the day. Thanks rogerw3 - another great cache in the series.

What a great location close to the track, very busy area as well with a local group doing some absailing. A simple area down a short track that I have driven past many times with out stopping. This would be a good starting point for anyone heading into the newness area to stop and sort yourself out for the day- or a chance to pull up on the way back into town for one larst look at beauty of Newness and some of what it has to offer.
JABs.

I had not ventured away from the small car park before as we had just used it as a meeting point for some canyoning trips and didn't realise that the track continued on through the pagodas. There was a few groups doing some abseiling on the small cliff faces nearby but were not interested in our doings.
A bit of looking about was done before the cache was found and as we approached the cars it started to rain really big drops..............NO that's hail. Just back to the car before getting too wet and bruised.
Great spot with some interesting looking cliffs on the other side of the gully.

We drive and ride past the track into this one many many times each year, but we have not been down this track for such a long time that we can’t even remember the last time we were down there. The cache was easily located in yet another spot befitting of a cache in the View3-x series. As we have said in our logs for others in the series please keep them coming
Thanks for the cache and thanks for the FTF as well.
