Logs
Travelling around South Island for 2 weeks while in NZ. Finding caches here and there. Found cache and signed log. TFTC
I'm down from Paihia for the Dunedin Mega event. We did a lot of caching around there. Our plan was then to come down to Invercargill to get the geoart here, find some other puzzles, visit Bluff and Slope Point. We'll then head north to Middlemarch and up to Christchurch.Todays plan was this I, the Winton W (not all solved yet) and the penguin jigsaws. We ended up finishing early so headed out to Clifden to see the old swing bridge and did a round trip via Monkey Island. Very pleased to get the old Donovan caches. We had finished the I series and we were now off to find the penguin puzzles. Thanks for the easy to find trad that we found along the way
Spending 2 days in Invercargill and have set aside one day to do the Pengi geoart and other caches along the way. Great weather today to be roaming the countryside. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining the caches we visited today.
Trouve ! / Found it ! 4800me cache trouve.Merci Sonya, Deane & Alex pour la cache 4800th cache found.Thank you Sonya, Deane & Alex for the cache
We criss crossed the country roads of Western Southland today reconnecting with our past. The rain held off until we logged the last cache for the day. Thank you to all COs and TFTC
Today was a case of ignoring our carbon footprint and visiting places which are a major part of my heritage.
Of course the day wouldn't be complete without some caching included.
Thank you to all COs for your effort in placing caches for us to find.

After we looked under the wrong bushes for 5 min. We found it pretty fast.

Invading Invercargill with Gadget169 for a weekend of caching and 2 events.
This one was on our list after leaving Riverton and heading up and around, making our way to Invercargill for our first event...The GeoDuck Race. This was a nice quick find TFTC

I had to be very careful of some muggles parked up near by.
Didn't take too long to find though.
I left a pet rock - a duck.
Thanks for putting this here

Out and about trying to locate and sign off a few more of the rurral caches of Invercargill.
My heart sunk when I read the hint and looked at the GZ. But I did give it a quick look and I came up trumps. Whew!
Cheers for the cache.

Plenty of space to pull off the road and then the hunt was on. Quickly found with Spoonz2
We managed to disturb a rabbit during the hunt for this, and it took off at speed. Must have been very close to the cache which was found moments later. Found with Debsnz. THanks for placing this.
What a cool we spot for a cache! Have driven past a few times and never knew it was here. Nice easy find TFTC
Have a weeks work in Invercargill. But what to do in the evenings. Today I headed as far as Otautau to grab a few caches. This one was on the way back. Many times as a kid we went through Fairfax on the way to Riverton. I can always remember the ruins of a old pub. Looks just as populated as back then also but now also what looks like an interesting rail museum. Thanks for the cache.
There is an impressive amount of railway buildings, good on them! Cache easy to find luckily
Just had to stop at Fairfax to snag this one. Cheers.
Monday 2 November. Headed out to Otautau today. Another cool overcast day this morning at 8deg. Toby lets get exploring!
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Ten days off in a row for the price of two leave days, how fabulous! Packed up the whanau for an adventure and headed south. Our original plans were slightly thwarted by water, but we made the trip into an adventure tikitour with a few caches along the way. Signing the logs as Team Polak or TP for brevity. Great fun, thanks to all the CO’s for the entertainment!!
Quick park n grab stopped for toilet break for dog on our round trip to Otautau and back tftc
A nice cache in good condition right where co-ords and hint said. It was a nice day to have a bit of a look through the fence to see what they have done
I couldn't find this in the rain on my way past earlier but that had stopped for the time being so I decided to stop and have another look. Almost an instant find this time, Someone working over in the rail yards - they have done a fantastic job - it is obviously a passion and makes them happy. mAs soon as I hopped back in the car the hail started pelting down. A week away down south and a chance for some caching. Was a nice and easy find this with the hopes of lots more. TFTC
Not quite as easy as I thought because assumed it was closer to the tracks and didn't have data to check. Display looks awesome. TFTC
Found this morning on our way back from picking blueberries. Quick find thanks
This holiday was plan B. Plan A was the Routeburn track but I injured myself 6 weeks before which put me out of action. We still had a good time here. Sorry for the late log TFTC
#4857. I have been in Southland for a week on a work trip but all that time was spent in Fiordland. I now have two days off and time to grab as many caches as I can find. Hired a rental car and set off on the adventure in glorious warm, sunny, dry, summer-like weather. Parked nearby and a quick search soon revealed the cache. Another interesting piece of local history. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache Sonya and Deane.
Out and about on the southern part of the mainland on a mission to complete our Jasmer grid.
Needed a leg stretcher so made a quick visit here. No problems with the cache TFTC.

On a bit of a journey to pick up a couple of virtual caches and a Wherigo, and grab any others along the way. Stopped here for a quick look and spent a bit longer, given what was on display across the tracks. The Jr. Cachers would have loved this but unfortunately they are not on this trip. Took a minute or two to find this one but got there in the end. Thanks for the cache.
Called in to drop off trackable, i gave Angus for Christmas last year. Had to wait for a fine day that suited everyone. Unfortunately, since Xmas... he has lost a eye. I do have a replacement sitting on my shelf in Invercargill... if it passes through, contact me and i'll replace. Happy travels.
I was impressed by what I could see on the other side of the chain fence. Cache was a realtively quick find.
Western cache hunt while enroute to Nightcaps. Nice place to stretch the legs and find a box. SL and returned to hide. tftc
Found this afternoon, not far from family farm. Can't believe it's taken 7 months to get this one.
What an interesting collection of railway memorabilia - very tempting! Then found the cache quite quickly. Thanks for making us stop here.
Another wet dot day.
Headed out after tea when it had dried up a bit.
Thanks to LvL for cleaning up this one - really appreciate not finding the funky mould.
A relatively quick find, and I didn't get too wet from the greenery. Thanks too for the extra hint, made things a bit easier with the GPSr lagging a bit.
Great that historical things like this are being maintained by someone.
Cache is still nice and dry.

Took a little finding been pushed in a bit in wrong place. Cache had a wipe out and Rent's dried replacement and sharpened pencil returned in situ. Cache back in it's place again under the drier hint object. It looks like it always gonna ship water, so two bags to open now. Happy caching.
Had a farm stay nearby and are now on our way to Te Anau.
It has been quite some time since this one was found. We poured water out of the container. Yuck.
We saw a train!

A lovely day for a drive out to Tuatapere and Otautau to find a few caches. Thanks for the cache.
Inside container quite wet. Could do with drying out.
Had a great yarn with Colin Brown the owner of the Fairfax railway station and carriages etc

found on dark windy night, will return to see rail memorabilia in day light, TFTC
Nice to see all this railway stuff being looked after. A peep through the fence reveals a wonderful collection and I guess some of it is still being used today. Scratched around a bit until I found the cache and unfortunately it is still wet inside. The log looks likely to go under soon. 2 plastic bags are holding back the tide but urgent attention is needed.
Pretty much parked right next to the cache. Easily found by fluffyduck38. New log book is dry but actual container is wet. TFTC
A full day doing the scenic drive from Balclutha to Manapouri via The Nuggets, the Catlins, and Invercargill with a bit of geocaching along the way. Quick find. Signed log. TFTC!
