We are getting out of the cache owning business, so we are archiving this cache now. We do not geocache as much as we did and do not have the time to keep up proper maintenance.
So we will free up a few spots around Hamilton.
The student who did the project and set up the cache has just finished Year 13 at HBHS and is off to the University of Waikato next year. Time flies!

OK... I didn't find it. I searched for almost an hour... then got home and found out that the owners had removed it just before we got their!! My bad luck!! We found where it should have been. So rewarding my frustration with a FOUND IT!
My students had Technology (Manual) this week. I had a bit of free time to look at some more Waikato puzzles. I now have lots of scraps of paper with coordinates scrawled on them. Decided to action some today or run the risk of losing the papers. Also collecting Traditionals along the way...
I was beginning to have thoughts about getting locked in at the car park. It was now after 5PM and there were a few more caches out there. Fortunately, this one was a quick find. TFTC... and yes, it is ideal.

I remember supplying some information for this cache some time ago. I was not intending to go for this cache but the one nearest the carpark. Out of the 3 here the nearest one was the one I missed.
Cheers for the cache.

A great title for a cache! And a great location. Thanks for presenting your findings too. Found with the Geo Tour South team, PageNZ, butchie bum, Team Welsh and the Seagnoid after a short search, TFTC.
[green] Well, the Auckland Mega is over but there is no going home yet. Now it is the GeoTour South tour of some great caches between Auckland and Hamilton. And a stop off here at Chicken Valley is just the thing. This cache was an easy solve and an easy find. Thanks!
Log signed as Geotour South, which is me, Edvern, PageNZ (the tour leader - way to go, Page!), ButchieBum and Team_Walsh.

Another great cache while enjoying the Geo South Tour . Thanks for the smilie.
a nice spring day for a nice walk, an easy find but the cache was full of water, did the best I could to dry it out, with my sleeve, left the towel back at the car park, did have to read the hint as the gps wanted me to go elsewhere, well hidden, took TB, tftc
Picked up Mabel and Pinkie and took them for a walk. They were well behaved. Love this idea
A group of us walked here from Tills Lookout, beautiful day, another nice easy find for the kids. The Hamilton Boys High student with us wasn't impressed though. Plastic bag is ripped, but cache is still dry.
Found with Ozzawazza-enjoyed the Arboretum in the late afternoon. Appreciate your research-well done!
I like your stats about geocaching, I'm in with the majority liking caches that are in the bush. TNLN TFTC
Knew where to look for this one as I had previously found it but never logged it so signed the log today. TFTC
Luckily we had read the previous logs so we came prepared. Dried and cleaned the cache and swag, took out all the ruined stuff and filled it up a bit. We left a replacement log in a bag and put the cache into a large plastic bag. I've brought the sopping log home and dried out the used pages, but I threw away the unused part. We'll return these pages when we are next out that way as it is quite an old cache and it is nice to be able to look back.
Found it today and it was full of water may need a new container might have a leak log book soaked
A nice place to go for a walk after work - introduced a friend to the gecaching thing at the same time. TFTC
I had been meaning to pick this one up ages ago, but was passing by today.... Thanks.
Just liked to close the weekend off with a nice walk for the doggies. Hmmm there was a bit tooooo much excitement for our Xafier in this park. But for us it was very good, cause we could do some extra training with him. Ducks and chickens are forbidden for her, so training was very good.

I have wanted to find this cache for a while so was delighted when I found it. Yeah for academic data on geocaching - it almost makes it feel mor like a legit activity rather than an obsession. t4tc
I think the hen ate the homework! There was a very large hen near the cache - going by the ground and the feathers I'd say it lives there. Container was very exposed - with hen footprints around, it looked like the hen had done its best to drag it out and get into it! I rehid it as best I could. This cache has been on my to-do list for about 3 years, really glad to finally knock it off as part of my Arboretum circuit wa;l. TFTC!
Lovely day for a walk and picnic with the kids. A great find, log book is dry but plastic bag is ripped.
Cache 2093
We spent a nice afternoon in the arboretum with the kids and did a bit of walking and looking for caches.
At last we counted 7 caches, not bad for a afternoon.
Thanks to the owners for their work Quiri

It certainly was muggle central, hardly saw any other muggles round the arboretum but saw several while trying to grab this one! Success was ours though for us to claim number two of our arbouretum walk. TFTC
Our second find for the day. Nice family friendly cache with some nice children friendly swaps, cache is in very condition. Probably wouldn't have explored this part of the walk without this cache being here, so thanks for bringing us to a new interesting location.
Nice hide at the furthest point of a stroll through this area. Dropped a trackable. TFTC!!!
Lovely walk in the park with old friends, introduced to geo-caching today! Picked up TBs,

Was sure we were going to find it with such a clear clue, but twice in 2 days we looked and failed.
The ideal spot for this ideal cache - enjoyed a lovely stroll admiring the autumn colours, what a great place to visit. TNLNSL TFTC

1.25pm. Out for the day with Oscatello and part of The Pud team, down in the Hamilton area to see the autumn colours. What better place than this arboretium. Found the cache in the middle of a leisurely walk. Left a TB as the cache container was big enough.

I am so pleased we came out here for a walk this morning. What a beautiful place. we'll be back again for sure....oh yeah, I found the cache and picked up a GC too. TFTC
Went out for early morning walk with Mrs Dragon to make the most of the winter sun, after all the years of living in Hamilton we ahd never been here before. Thanks for the experience, TFTC we will be back in next few months to see the seasons changes.
Nice place for a walk with Miles . The chocks wanted to follow us on our walk.
Will come back with the family one day.

Quite annoyed to discover this was only a short distance from one of the waypoints for GZ19CZJ; we could have got it without the effort of going all the way around to the back entrance from Wallace Road. Oh well. TFTC -- TB's long gone, though.
Perfect cache!
Nice walk today, even after all the recent rain and even walking at a 2-year-old's pace!

Lots of chickens around and quite a few muggles. However we where able to find and replace without being noticed. TFTC
My second attempt at this one was easy enough, it was out in the open! We rehid it a little better. TFTC!
TFTC! Had to do a quick scramble and grab to avoid being seen by a worker chopping up a tree
Took a walk here from Tills lookout, very nice walk on a great spring day.

Planned on doing the cache puzzle nearby to this one so stopped on the multi to pick this one up.
Found where expected and good to report cache in great condition.Granddaughter managed to spy
a chipmunk in the cache and traded it with some other goodies. I think we may of taken part in this
survey as well. The roosters are very protective of their patch, and made their presence known.
Did also see a nice pair of drumsticks scuttling of as well..kinda makes you feel like chicken tonight!
Thanks for the visit..Very nice.

I was looking forward to finding this cache after being part of the research. It was a fairly easy find on a great walk. Just watch the nest of eggs a little to the east of the cache. Thanks very much
Well done with your project, a quick and easy find, Harry the Geodog tried to chase the chooks but attached to the lead stopped him short. NINO TFTC
This was one of the caches we really wanted to do while we were in Hamilton as we were one of the ones surveyed for this homework project. Amazing place for the cache and ticked all the boxes for us. Thanks
We were fortunate enough to pass the original designers of the gardens as we walked through. They warned us of the wildlife ahead! Really enjoyed the various ground birds and the walk. Do stick to the path. You can get charged for touching fences. TFTC
This was just brilliant. Fantastic spot, fantastic surroundings and go the roosters and chicks, oh and can't for get the Pukeko's! Out caching with Indiana Jill this morning. This place is just magical. Even found a "Moa" hidden in the bushes. Few muggles about but no probs. Arrived at GZ, IJ came up with the goods on this one. Left TB. Took away memories! See this is why Geocaching is just brilliant just takes you on adventures. Thanks heaps for bringing us out here, would totally recommend it. We shall be back. TFTC!
Always an enjoyable place to visit, first car in the carpark this morning, so knew there wouldn't be any difficulties with muggles at GZ. Quick find once there. Seem to remember being part of this survey.

Combined this cache into a nice day out cycling from Tills Lookout. The arboretum was deserted this afternoon, and a great spot for a casual ride. TFTC
Should have guessed it would be as far as we could get from the start. Took a few shortcuts to speed things up, wanted to beat the approaching rain, and we did! Dear little fluffy easter chickens were running around everywhere. TFTC.
A regular sized cache on an interesting bush walk is definitely one of our favourite types of caches. The Taitua Arboretum with 1500 species certainly is an interesting place to have a look around. Found the cache with no problems, but had to disappoint countless hens and roosters that came running to greet us in the expectation of a feed. Thanks for the fun.

Nice walk first thing in the morning, tried to convince some of the chickens to follow us in to our car (we wanted to take them home for dinner).

Great area and nice walk to cache. Took quite a while to locate as was quite buried and hint seemed not quite right for location. Also GPS was a bit unsure with all the trees. Just found it when another cacher turned up. Nice to meet a South Island geocacher. SL TFTC
Nice one. What a cool idea for an assignment and a great place for the cache too. As I approached, I spotted someone lurking in the bushes at GZ, I quietly said "I'll sign that after you" and he said, "I thought you might say that". Nice to bump into tmann421 so far from both our homes, especially after I'd done a couple of his caches early in the day and far away. TFTC, Biggles.
Found it, no problems. Biked there from Queenwood, very hot. Had lunch in the shelter with a black chicken, he was very friendly. Dropped off travel Slug geocoin. TFTC.
