Out for the day with Smittengranny and isopeda to collect some caches on a country road less travelled. Tftc
Find # 1261317/8/2024 Out and about in IGD with Joolay, KittyKatch, Tankengine, barb2e, and Smittengranny on a freezing chilly winter day. Though warming up a bit as the day goes on. Then rain ??? again. All caches found, and logged. Thanks The Emongs for Another Hairpin ??
Wee JasperInternational Geocaching Day 2025I took a road trip to Wee Jasper to find a bunch of caches with contesta, Joolay, Tankengine, Smittengranny and barb2e. Thanks for the hide The Emongs
After a breakfast event to start IGD, a group of us set out to clear out an area to the north west of Canberra. We didn't quite succeed but almost did, and we were all very happy with our achievements. Our group consisted of barb2e, Kittykatch, Joolay, Tankengine and contesta. Firstly many thanks to them for a fabulous day out and then to all COs for making today possible. Especially TE who owned so many of these caches and was doing maintenance. All caches found were signed and returned to their hiding place.
Hair pin indeed. At least able to pull over safely. ??Lovely day to be out and about. Decided a trip to Wee Jasper was a good idea to celebrate International Geocaching Day with Kittykatch, contesta, Tankengine, Smittengranny and barb2e. Thanks for getting me out and about The Emongs
#6037.
Second last cache for the day. I hopped out of the cache mobile and found the cache pretty quickly. The contents were a bit damp, but still able to write on the log book. TFTC!
Back story:
The weather looked a bit gloomy today, but we weren't in the mood to sit at home so we decided to hit the road for some exploring and finding some caches. We dressed according to the chilly, wet weather, but the day turned out beautifully with only a couple of short drizzles during our trip. We found 14 caches with one DNF.

A straightforward find here on a crisp morning while exploring Wee Jasper.
Thanks, The Emongs.

Out with Aquilus1 and Tankengine on a maintenance run, pick up some finds and just have a look around the area.
Wee Jasper is such a wonderful area to explore. The locals were nice, the land so pretty and the river was full.

After a night of heavy rain through the region it wasn't sure what sort of day this would be with plans made for a day out in the Wee Jasper area. With Tankengine and dty73 a little cache maintenance was the target and a number of fine looking caches waited to be found. Although it was a little damp when we left the worst had passed and the rain spared us which is the way it should be.
A very scenic drive and a lovely area out around Wee Jasper, the morning grey and cloudy but still lovely which soon led to a warm and sunny afternoon, its a very pretty area regardless of the day. So good to see everything very green and lush, dams and waterways fall and flowing. It was nice to be out with good company in such a scenic area, a very peaceful and enjoyable day as we explored and cached. Honorable mention to the long standing local out for his morning walk in his gumboots that was a wealth of local knowledge and a charming fellow to have met.
Pretty out in the area with the sun shining and the blue sky. Cache found quickly and love it's the original container and log. Even found a patch of reception here for a few emails to pop in! Thanks for the cache the Emongs.

fitzy_1965 and I headed to the Yass area to catch up with albida33 for a bit of caching today.
We decided to head down to the Wee Jasper area to pick up some caches we had passed by before. In the end we got closer to Tumut than we had originally intended. Oops!
Quick find here today......even with all the undergrowth.

**This Cache**
Before heading for our river walk we picked up the two caches up the road, this being one of them. This was a lovely spot although not somewhere we would otherwise visit. Not so easy find at GZ but the GPS was very accurate so took a closer look after having search further out. TFTC The Emongs.
**Our Day**
Today we had a few good reasons to travel far and wide for a hike along the Micalong Creek and Goodradigbee River in Wee Jasper. Apart from seeing the gorgeous countryside there were now two new Tankengine caches and another along the Goodradigbee River to pick up.
Lots of young people were camped by the Micalong Creek for the weekend and we passed many of them on the Micalong Walking Trail enjoying it all as much as we were this afternoon. This was a very easy return walk for 3.25kms with 43m ascent/descent over two hours. This included lunch by the gurgling river and taking many photos as the area is just breathtaking. It was just gorgeous where the Micalong Creek met the Goodradigbee River. There was also a huge variety of healthy animal poo everywhere indicating that they are thriving in and around this location.
Another great day in paradise.

After waking up with the sun in a nearby campground, the temperature outside was only 1°C, but I had to get up anyway. So with a short drive I devised to find the nearby caches that I have had to leave on my other visits to the area.
Thanks for the cache.

Despite the heat, I decided today was the day to visit Wee Jasper for the first time. On the way I wanted to grab all the TE caches I could, and any others I passed by that could be fitted in. All up 23 caches (including 11 TEs). Unexpectedly I also managed to get 5009 days of unlove from 10 of the finds. About 15km of walking and 500m climb.
This was my eighteenth find for the day. A quick find. TFTC.

Dropped the missus off as she is a Scout Leader and was camping nearby with her troop and headed over here for a quick detour and find. TFTC.
After a lovely day, night stay at the reserve down the hill we made a small detour up this way to make a couple of finds before heading home.
Nigel little hide. Thanks for the find.

Time to do a few caches in the Wee Jasper area while waiting for trail walkers to return to the Fitzpatrick trailhead. Loved the area and the pristine waters and landscape!

Plans were made to head out on Saturday to do a spot of caching but the weather wasn't the best so Saturday turned into Sunday for us as the weather was beautiful today. RW was in need of some Earth caches to log a challenge cache she had signed while we were away awhile ago. So a drive was in order to collect two of them for her and off to Wee Jasper we went. Lovely day out and about.
Felt a lot safer at this one and cache was soon in hand then back we went.
Thanks for the cache Emongs and thanks for the company RW.

With the horrid weather yesterday, caching didn't happen so plans were made to get out and about today as both myself and FFLL had itchy feet. We decided a drive out to Wee Jasper was in order and mother nature put on her best for us It was an amazing day out in the country, HEAPS of photos taken, lots of laughter and chatter. A brilliant day of caching with no DNF's to boot
And another hairpin conquered Nice big area for parking at this one, also room to do a u-turn and head back down the hill. No issues finding the cache and believe it or not, there is phone reception up here too (note to campers below, come up here if you need to make a call)
Thanks heaps for the company today FFLL and thanks for the cache The Emongs [^]

Narrow road, but fortunately there’s parking up hill near the cache. TFTC The Emongs.
A narrow road. Fortunately we found a safe area to park and turn around just near the cache. TFTC
We passed two entrances that the lokipaganmobile veto'd but the third time we were in luck and could safely pull over. More great views and another quick find. Thanks The Emongs
TheSkype found this one,I just signed it:-) Thanks, now to head back to Wee Jasper.
I can't believe this one hadn't been found since December last year. Not sure if it's thought to be too well hidden, or just lack of interest in it, but didn't take me long to find. TFTC
Wow! It was twisty coming up here. I'm glad the parking space allowed us to make a u-turn. Great views..... I felt on top of the world. Then it was back down the hill to Micalong Creek and a short walk to another cache. Thanks for placing a cache here. I wouldn't have come up here it wasn't here and it was definitely worth it.
A camping trip to Wee Jasper for the winter Solstice and of course some caching too!

Our last cache before turning around and heading back to Yass. Found with Roklicker, naw92, danfrom and Rhihusable.
My caching day took another turn here [:o]
Fortunately for me that meant another cache to find
Just after grabbing the cache, it started to rain.
I'm so glad that I wasn't walking up the hill from the campground to find this one
The rain finally stopped at about 9 o'clock at night [:o]

3544th total find at 15:01
Luckily we stopped to look at a text message we received on the mobile, otherwise we may have driven right past.
We actually turned the cache into a "drive by".
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing

A quick drive up the road had this one in hand. Decided to do it in 4WD mode only to discover that if we'd gone around the hill abit it was easier to drive to.
Found fairly quickly, No swaps TFTC
Mistake made we actually took a frog and left some brand new batteries AA's.
