Logs
I run out of time to reach Jenkins Hill so this was the turn around point. Gps said other side of the track but geo sense won the day. Bum cache #1562Thank you bumandworker
Quick find up here. Container and log paper very wet. Sorry, already used my spare. Tftc!
Great day to be in the hills. Heading towards Jenkins and beyond. Had to stop here of course. Found and signed. All good here.

A bit of a lonely cache this one. It was a quick find, but the insides were full of water and a bit manky. Seemed like nothing we could wipe clean to scribble our names on, so added a new RITR log to it. There do seem to be a few logs that have been added in this cache. Replaced as found, TFTC B&W.
Today RG72 and I headed for the hills, climbing up from Marsden Valley to the parasailing jump off zone, then heading along the top until we reached and followed the Brook waimarama sanctuary fence line, then dropping down Coppermine trail and back to the car.
A biggish day, was only supposed to be ‘a few hours’, but it was 6.5 hours up there including geocaching, lunch and other stops. Almost 21 km travelled, we had good weather and no major dramas. Just the one DNF today. Cheers all

A quick find for RNZ!
A great day walking from Marsden Valley to the Brook, caching along the way.
My idea to do this hike & I thought it would be about 15 kms & maybe 4 hours...ended up being 20.6 kms & 6.5 hours
A well deserved cider & chips after out hike
A great day out!

This was my furthest point today and progress has been a lot quicker than I’d anticipated.
An obvious GZ once at the top of the slope. Again found the unloved cache a way from the actual GZ but it was well-wrapped and in good nick.
Now for the downhill leg..,
Thanks bumandworker

Came up via the Involution and pleased to grab another smilie. The find was easy but the hike up....that was not so easy!! Thanks for the work out BW!! And the cache...
#9886. It was good to behave some more level terrain after the climb up to the ridge. We also enjoyed the better reception up here. Cache was a quick find. TFTC.

Even though my legs were saying "enough - time to turn back" we couldn't come all this way and not carry on a few hundred metres to this cache. After having a hard time finding (or not finding in some cases) the caches on the Involution track, we were relieved that the caches on the ridge were a lot easier to find. TFTC.
This is as far as we're going today. What an afternoon. Time to point the bike down hill, TFTC.
Out for a caching walk to day, Up Barnicoat along to Jenkins Hill and back down Involution. Thanks for putting the caches out there. I had a good day out walking and caching TFTC log is wet just able to write on it still
Oh dear! The container was half full of water and although the log was in a zip lock wich was inside 3 other ziplocks, all had water in them. Log was wet but just able to write on it.
Was travelling light so no new bags so dried bags as well as I could and left lid off container wrapped up in a bread bag in the things could dry out in that space.
So would the next visitor please reassemble the container which will hopefully be drier.
Better still if some one planning to visit could take a waterproof container (200-400mL)and some dry bags and all can be restored. Thanks

Fantastic morning for a walk up here via scout track. Bit sweaty though. Log book wet but some kind person has put in some waterproof paper, so can survive without replacing. Thanks.
It must have been some storm!!!! - - - Dead and malformed trees all over the place. It is good to see the beeches fighting back. Was a neat walk up here today. - - - A bit of a challenge, but infinitely more fun and infinitely less boring than a trip to the gym. - - - And much cheaper. What an amazing world we live in. Hey. Thanks for the cache.
Nice quick find and a lovely walk. Drained water for soaked cache, triple bagged log ensured log was writable
Cheers Gav

Checked cache. Cache is actually fine. Log book cover slightly damp, pages fine to use. Added another bag, not replacing the cache for now as suggested
Well looks like a lot of Beech is Bowled, along the top of the ridge. There even a few new ones knocked over the recent months winds.

22 minutes after leaving As Simple As ABC I arrived at GZ (total time 1hr 25min). The cache was found to have 5mm of water in the bottom. Dried container, removed the rusty item and double-bagged the logbook. Thanks for the cache. Onwards to Jenkins Hill.
Found on a ride up to the involution mountain bike ride. great spot and a great ride down
Biked here on the way from Barnicoat to Jenkins Hill. Took geocoin. Nice up here on a sunny day
Great to come back up here. Last time was before the storm, a little different now. Tftc
Found with Kwaka40.
Long ride up and a great ride down the new track.
(P.S. the new MTB track is actualy 170m from GZ)

Container was a wee bit damp but we dried it out & the log book is fine. Hell of a walk but glad we made the effort ( I think)! TFTC.
First time up here since the 2008 storm. Still a lot of devastation. Amazing what it must have looked like two years ago.
Emptied a cup ful of water out of the cache. Log still dry (just).

Gave the tree a BIG hug for you!! we all know how much of a tree hugger the bum is.....
Pleased tro say its all down hill from here and on the mountain bike what could be better TFTC
Did this one following Young Scouts and Stubborn old Goats, despite the weather really wanted to head off to Jenkins but ran out of time. Nice quick find TFTC
Found on the way to Jenkins Hill on the MTB. A great piece of forrest for MTBing. Will definately be riding this track again. TFTC
Pleased we found the energy to do the extra walk from ABC. Quite eerie in places - and very shallow roots on some of the trees. TNLN TFTC
Got myself a bit muddled on Barnicoat tonight. Decided to do Jenkins cache first thinking it was closer. Got there running low on daylight then realised I had gone straight past Beech is Back. GPS was spot on thank goodness, then tore down the firebreak. Thanks guys for the cache.
It is so beautiful up here. Those trappers must be fit - they are doing such a fantastic job. TFTC #958
Walked up from Marsden Valley on the way to Jenkins Hill and the Brook. Didn't think I'd be back this way quite so soon TFTC, Biggles.
Found while up here with Don Sullivan from the Marsden Valley pest trapping group. We were logging the positions of all traps in the area. It's going to be a massive job as there are around 500 up here, but we managed to log the first hundred or so in about 3 1/2 hours today today, so we're on the way. TFTC
Lovely day up here. I came up the Old Scout Track, about an hour up from the road end/weir to the 4WD track. It has been cleared of all windfalls, presumably by the rodent trappers who are maintaining lots of traps around here. TFTC
Up via the fire break from the Brook via Jenkins then back the same way. Good to finally be able to pick up the pace from Jenkins to this one and back, the rest of the way was pretty slow going. The storm damage is massive, checked the track log on Google Earth when I got home and the landscape has certainly changed from those photos. Thanks for another cache up a hill a good excuse for a walk. Still haven't had my bike out so this is my only training before the Porika, you will have to take it easy on me. TFTC. +/- coin
Good one! Day dawned with clear sunny skies after all the heavy rain, so did this one by mountainbike. Went up the Barnicoat road, crossed over the gate at the top and followed the firebreak to "simple as ABC", then followed the 4wd track to the cache. Certainly some major damage caused by last year's big windstorm. Took me about 1 hour 15 mins to get to gz by this route. Much quicker coming down- exited at "Simple as ABC" and came straight down the walkway track. It's worth doing this cache by bike just to do the downhill blast afterwards! Excellant!
