Did not try to find with my family, while on a holiday out here. We pulled up in this town and had some fun going across the strange bridge, and read a little about it. Then got back in the car and headed to the gold mining museum, before heading home.
Thanks for the bridge and drive!

Interestingly someone "found" this geocache on 23/11/17 even though I forgot to do some maintenance on it and whilst it is disabled.

OCW MikeV1 on Day Two of our adventure out west. We looked at all the possibilities as the hint indicated, but it was to be a DNF. Maybe it's gone AWOL?
Over two days we managed to grab 100 finds while attempting part of TRLT series. We started at Meadow Flat and headed north passing through Sunny Corner, Dark Corner, Palmer's Oakey, Mt Horrible, Wattle Flat, Crudine, Sally's Flat, Sofala, Pyramul and Aaron's Pass, before detouring to Mudgee to refuel and then head back to Sydney. We had a great time taking the Brewmobile along these rarely used country roads, seeing some amazing scenery, old homesteads, cemeteries, plenty of wildlife and natural landforms along the way. Most of the hides were easy to find with good coords and hints. Thanks to all the COs for the time & effort that has gone onto placing these hides.

Found with Brewmaker while on a two day adventure finding caches in The Road Less Travelled trail series and other nearby ones.
We started at Meadow Flat and then headed north (having previously headed south on another adventure) through Sunny Corner and Palmers Oakey before camping overnight at Wattle Flat. Then it was on to Sofala Sally's Flat, Pyramul and heading north towards Mudgee before we ran out of time. Will have to come back to finish the series. Most caches were easy to find and it was a very enjoyable drive along these country roads some beautiful scenery, historic places, native animals etc.
We looked everywhere near the hint but seems that this one has gone missing.

The WEEO and I had a great time caching all day and yacking as we went along. This was a great little spot with friendly looking people. The WEEO and I especially loved the gold nuggets on one of the house's gate posts. . TFTC
A great little village to live in away from it all. Look out for the huge Gold Boulders on both sides of the gatepost. This is a great day out caching and I am so pleased 3-Kings and I decided to come this way. Thanks to the COs for what must have been a lot of work putting these caches out. Great time had by all. TFTC
Very pretty little village and a route I'd like to come back to again someday. Touchstone and I were heading up to Qld to visit family, and decided to do a little bit of caching on the way. This was one of them and a really nice little place.
Thanks for bring us here Jenmen. Well worth the visit and a lovely little spot

A little quaint place caught up in the time warp of the past. This little town is well worth the visit to explore. Not only is it steeped in history, it is very pretty.
I thoroughly enjoyed tackling all the country roads doing some of the caches on route.
Plenty of exercise getting in and out of the geo-vehicle.
An early start after camping for the night at nearby Coles Bridge.
Awesome scenery from quite a number of geocaches. I haven't been to Sofala in nearly 40 years
Thanks to all the geocachers who have set and maintained their caches in the area. Well done to all.

Great clue. log full, sorry left all our stuff at home so couldn't replace. Thank you for placing this cache, found on our trip south to the Victorian mega. tnln sl
Cripes, a JABs hide here? We've found many of his but somewhat southwards over the ditch. We came here with the principal aim of camping on the banks of the Turon a few k's out of town. Well, if you can call a sojourn in an all mod cons motorhome "camping". When a cache offers itself along with easy parking though, it would be rude to ignore it, so find we did. Interesting stuff too. TFTC.
Good find that had me puzzled at first. Very nice as it had the right amount of difficulty without it being too hard. tftc
Out around the Sofala / Ilford area this afternoon for a few caches. Quick find. TFTC
Gave Bathurst the flip cache wise apart from an easy Trig. Had considered camping by the river but very cold at Trunkey Creek last night & this place in a steep valley so cold air would drain. Made a quick find, had a look through the village & headed off. Thanks.
### Trip to the bush ###
----------
Day 1
We started our trip in Rouse Hill towards the bush region of New South Wales.
Our first stop was in Springwood where we took a little bush walk and found this letterbox in the middle of the bush. We then visited the geological sandstone attraction and informed ourselves about the geological features of this region.
We then continued our trip towards Katoomba where we enjoyed the breathtaking view over the Blue Mountains at Echo Points. We took a little walk and reached the 3 sisters form the originally 7 sisters. Now it was starting to get dark and we continued on to the town to look for a couple of more caches before finishing off the day.
Day 2
At early morning, we relaxed once more for a little while longer at Eco Point before we continued our trip towards Blackheath and Mount Victoria.
We had a little break at Lake Lyell where we visited the dam and had some snacks.
We then continued towards Ryell and high up to Mount Lambie where we were lucky to spot many animals again.
We left the main road just before Bathurst towards the quiet countryside past Peel, Wattle Flat and the historical Sofala. We had a coffee break at Sofala where we drove around the old historic town.
We then continued our drive on Hill End Road and we socked in the beautiful nature. We were lucky to see many animals on the way.
We were welcomed by many roos at Hill End.
We left Hill End and drove towards Hargreaves towards our night stop at Windeyer. We slept at Bushland Tourist Park once again in the beautiful train accommodation. We had dinner at the local pub where we had nice pasta.
Day 3
We had to first free the car from all the ice before we could start our trip towards Mudgee. It gets cold out there at night, around -1 degrees.
We drove towards the west to Wellington and Stuart Town, Mumbil, Dam Arthur and finished the day in Dubbo.
We were astonished by NSW untouched nature and beautiful wildlife.
Day 4
We started the day with a little trip outside of Dubbo’s bushalnds.
We then strolled around the city of Dubbo and visited the beautiful Botanic Graden of Dubbo. The Gardner’s put so much work into maintain this beautiful spot. Well done.
We started the trip home towards Sydney past Wellington, Mudgee and Portland.
We drove past the Mt Piper Power station and informed us about the tours.
We continued towards Sydney.
We hereby want to thank all owners for all the work you have done in maintaining the caches. You have showed us many beautiful and also many hidden spots which we wouldn’t have found without the caches.
Thank you

the turon river is running really full and fast today, wouldn't want to be paddling in it that's for sure. I wonder what the flow is like normally. I was the only one looking around the park today, should I try and find lunch here? its a bit early - surely there is something else up the road.....(but no there is not, so make sure you either eat here or pack a picnic if you are heading up toward the TRLT Sally's Flat Rd area)

Lovely to arrive in Sofala which I have wanted to visit for years. Especially enjoyed this find and the history of the nearby bridge, thanks Jenmen.
Off on a Sofala safari with rogerw3 ...
Stopping roadside to ponder the pass of a TRLT cache, a view of the Garmin indicated this one at 12 metres distance ... promptly in hand. Thanks for the cache. Jenmen
(The significance of the iron long-span bridge nearby was explained to the 'mushroom by rogerw3.)

Up from Canberra on a solo geomission to Bathurst, Mudgee and surrounds The focus of the weekend was to attack as many of the TLRT series as I could as well as any others along the way!
Quick park and grab at this quaint little town.

Wow - what an interesting little town that has been preserved. Just how you see those old western towns in the movies!
When we saw the machinery our hearts sank a little, but then a quick check of something simpler and with a sigh of relief the cache was in hand.
Thanks Jenmen.

Day four of our five day geocaching trip from Brisbane to Canberra for Easter. Today we cached from Gulgong to Sofala, on the road not so often traveled, working for our 100-in-a-day challenge.
We are caching for 100 or more: that is our aim, so nice quick finds are the order of the day. So these logs will be rather generic - written up after the trip is well and truly over.
The country we traversed was wonderfully varied - a few Ks of sealed road but the majority was gravel - easily handled by our GeoFalcon, although we laughed several times at how the white dust (in sharp contrast to the usual brown and red of Queensland) made it look like a ghost car.
We crossed many causeways, traversed valleys and crossed mountain ridges. Scenery was magnificent. All in all we have only two DNFs in the total trail, so that was a bonus.
Would we recommend this trail? An unequivocal YES!
Oh we are so going to enjoy our stay here. Love places full of history - especially when the history is so well signed. Just ripe for a cache! It's starting to get dark. Have we reached our 100 yet?
Found at 7.00pm on 23rd March 2016. TFTC.

Thankfully, the heavy rain, which had dogged our journey all morning, eased enough to allow us to wander about this amazing place. This cache was found in a very interesting precinct.

A lovely little village that was busy today. It appeared everyone in town was out eating or drinking so we did what they did. TFTC Jenmen
We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.
We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.
Day 1
We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.
Day 2
We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.
Day 3
We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.
Day 4
We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.
We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.
Thanks

An early start this morning with the hopes of achieving 100+ caches in a day. Headed north from Mudgee to start a large loop heading back south and west. Loving this drive - lots of livestock and other wildlife including Roos, foxes, rabbits, birds, goanna, sleepy lizards, dragons, you name it. A long day with roughly 12 hours of adventures.
This was cache #67. A quick find - wish I had more time today to explore the town. TNLN TFTC

#3338- My main focus of the day was to continue TRLT series and I was so focused on it that I actually missed doing some other quite simple ones as I went past. I had pulled over to check where I was heading and realised I was parked right next to this one. Saw it from the window- leaned out and grabbed it. An interesting monument. Thanks
Today we travelled to Sofala, dropped the caravan off & continued on TRLT trail. Heading back towards we stopped yesterday.
This was great farming country onto flat land & into the mountains.
We returned & had lunch at this location before heading to Bathurst.

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Jenmen. We found your cache "Sofala" at 12:02:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 11823.

Today was our third day of caching the TRLT trail. We started the day off from Gulgong Showground (again) and we were off and running. When we were close to Sofala we encountered a group riding Postie Bikes & raising money for charity.
We ended up logging 42 caches (and DNFing 1) before we thought it would be a good idea to head back for happy hour.
Please excuse our boilerplate logs. It's not really a good excuse, but we find it really difficult to craft individual logs after attempting so many similar caches in a day.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards

Today was the day to complete my biggest cache run to date. From Mudgee to Gulgong and then follow The Road Less Traveled series and the surrounding caches. I started nice and early at 7:30am, and didn't finish until 11 at night! On the way I saw plenty of lizards, the first snake of the season and smelt many rotting road kill during the day, and at night I had the live kangaroos, wombats, possums and probably all the flying insects banging into my head when I had the torch on.
Over all the experience was worth it and great big thank you to the CO's who put all of the caches out there.

Headed south down The Thin Back Line south to Sydney then west out towards Lithgow, Meadow Flat and Sofala then Mudgee intending to pick up some of the TRLT Series and others of opportunity. Thanks for bringing me here. What a great start to the Series Well done

Reperio!
As I was staying at Mount Victoria for the weekend, I had one day free to do a spot of caching. It was suggested by more than one person (my wife included) that I should visit the TRLT series...so I made a plan to try and find as many of them as I could today. I started out in the very early hours of the morning with Andromeda, and managed to get through each of the caches before the sun went down with approximately 160 finds and only one or two DNF's for the day.
I had never been to Sofala before, it was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and how narrow the main street is...especially when it's lined with vehicles. Pulled up close to GZ and the cache was soon in hand.
Gratias Jenmen.

Find No: 4778. Visiting from Newcastle, staying for the weekend in Mudgee, enjoying immensely the variety of hides in the district, travelled almost 200km again today, found 52, thanks for the cache Jenmen!!
This is the start of our day, were headed for Mudgee,we will starting the TRLT series and the extras along the way.
The weather was kind to us, we completed more than we had expected, we only had 2 DNF on the day. Some of the caches were straight forward finds and others were a bit sneaky.Lovely countryside, on roads we had not been on before. By night fall we were at the destination and ready for a hot shower.
Thanks to all the CO for the effort that has gone into these caches.

Thanks to all the CO for the effort that has gone into these caches.

Sofala was the first stop on a round trip fromteh Ilford ASNSW Star Party. Headed to Sofala, Hill end and mudgee before another night of star gazing. THis was an easy find but the bridge story is amazing.

Sofala looks like a nice little town, and very deserted one on this Saturday afternoon. The cache was a quick find.
Thanks

As we pulled in to Sofala, i knew exactly where this one would be. Managed to have it out and signed before my travel companions even noticed! Such a quaint village. Spent a bit of time wandering around and checking out the old architecture of this place. Cache in good condition and with a brand spanking new log thanks to the previous finders today (i'm guessing). Thanks Jenmen!
An interesting spot, near the ore crusher and the iron bridge that spans nothing but grass now. An easy find. Thanks
What a lovely little town well worth of a cache which was found easily. I drove through the town and noticed some works going on so maybe there might be some improvements. Would love to have stopped for a coffee.
This was found in the expected place near an interesting display. Sofala is a very quiet place, not much of the original town is left. Thanks to Jenmen for the hide.
Had a quick look for this one a year or so ago but did not find it, this time I was on the money almost straight away. TFTC
