Our very first cache hide has bitten the dust, well the lawn mower ate it! I think it's demise may have had something to do with what a sophisticated hide it was...cache at the base of tree covered in bark! Might replace it at a later date due to sentimental reasons, but the grand tree is no longer an option.

Have temporarily disabled this cache until we can check out the hide and look at replacing the container.

This cache needs replacing as it has been run over by the mower the cache is in bits log is all chopped up. But still signed log or what is left of it and picked all pieces of cache up and placed next to the tree this tree is a great looking tree it's ashame it's nearly dead. Tftc or what once was a cache.

Parked on the side of the road and made the jump over the ditch.

There was no way I was going to cross that ditch, so we took the circuitous route around to make an easy find in the end. I wonder why the entrance to the adjacent carpark has been closed off? Seems a bit odd to me. TFTC.

Managed to park the car between the two access points, ensuring the longest walk for us and Tealby. Or alternatively, cross the mud filled ditch. Not me! Not after a previous failed attempt elsewhere in work clothes. Some pretty amazing trees here. Thanks for the cache.

Wow. Archers' Chapel is something special.

This ancient River Red Gum is a local treasure, possibly over 700 years old.

River Red Gums (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) are typically found along the banks of watercourses and floodplains.

Archer's Chapel tells the story of a different landscape, before the draining of the Carrum Carrum swamp by European settlers in the late 1800s.

On a historical note, Alexander Bowman, from the family the reserve is named after, started what was possibly the first store in Dandenong in 1852, now the site of the Albion Hotel.

A very big TFTC.

Found by Bob at 1805

Still on my way to the Halloween Event in Cheltenham, but I couldn't resist a bit of a detour for this one (it's all by itself as far as my unfound caches go). Having pulled up at the closest point to GZ, I did have some minor difficulties navigating over the ditch (not 2.5 terrain though) - it's just a bit big/deep/wet for an easy jump/step across - but not so big that you immediately head for an easy access. Anyway, I managed to negtiate it ok and was soon at GZ where I really enjoyed the sight/feel of the majestic old (dead) tree. I've always been a bit of a tree-hugger, but I don't think I'd like to hug this one too tightly as it must have had a bit of cactus juice in its veins to give it all those really sharp protusions Wink. The cache was a nice, quick find.

We spotted this great looking tree before we had even realized that it was gz. With all the recent rains we had to park a little way away as it wasn't easy to cross the drain without getting wet feet, from here we simply followed the GPSr needle while admiring a different view of this ancient eucalypt. With the rain again threatening we didn't stay around long enough to watch it change color but we will be now watching in future when we pass by here
We disovered and dropped a TB Jeep to wait with it's mate

GPS took us right to GZ and a quick search had the cache in had and then had some time to admire the interesting tree. The cache is a nice decent size, I think it should be classes as a regular. Once PT signs up on geocaching I will get him to log this as a joint FTF. It was an honor to find your first placed cache. #250 for me. 1/4 of a grand Smile TFTC.
