Really enjoyed "the wedge" mural and location. A bit of lateral thinking required when doing calculations as some items are no longer as they were when first installed. The final location an absolute delight, GZ has been rearranged so cache not as per hint - a bit of lateral thinking again luckily had me find the prize in the first place I looked. TFTC
Visited the Wedge and worked out the numbers, and will go find the cache another day. It took some puzzling and a process of elimination - I think some of the grilles have been removed as the cabbage trees have grown larger over time.. Looking forward to finding the cache later
Got my co-ords last night after initially making an error.
Alas, got the green tick from geo checker only to arrive this morning and feel ariund in every niche possible. Will come back soon to see if my eyeballs have failed me twice in 24 hours.

I had a lot trouble with this multi but the other day I had an idea which would solve the problem I was having and that gave me coords which I knew were right beyond a shadow of any doubt - despite being so far away from WP1 which would normally be cause for doubt. I wondered if it was possible to park anywhere near GZ and unexpectedly found there was plenty to choose from today. Made my way to GZ which I'd pre-investigated on Street View so there where no surprises about where I was going. I love the way GZ connects to WP1 and it was an interesting place to visit because of that. I was a bit concerned about how visible I might be rummaging around but I did not see any evidence of muggles and I reasonably quickly spotted the hide. After recently doing the CO's Cuba et al caches I found myself paying much closer attention to the architecture around here than I might have prior to that. Thanks for an interesting multi.
Yay! Found a park for starters - Don't drive up! Worked it out a while ago but finished today. What a super cute area!! Great idea using the 2 containers for water proofing! TFTC and puzzle.
Had some time to spare in Newtown this morning and collected the information successfully. Certainly took some careful observation, but fortunately it was fairly quiet this Sunday morning. Hope to visit the final on our next visit to Wellington. Thanks bkj97 for a satisfying start to this urban multi.
Found with 15YO. We had our 2nd COVID vaccination this morning and while we waited to be released I noticed we had solved the final coordinates for this quite some time ago (I guess over a year!). A short drive later we found a reasonably close car park. After perusing the best approach we soon found the right way to GZ. The hide was spotted by the 15yo as we approached and as I sat to sign the log I looked up and realised why this particular spot was chosen for the hide.

Solved the puzzle some time ago, wandering around the building a few times trying not to look to weird and walking past GZ today - what a cool little street indeed. TFTC.
Had solved this one a long long time ago and today we were doing some team building in the Botanical Gardens and asked the team if they wanted to help find this cache. Quick detour from where we were working to this cache. very interesting location that I would never have come to.. Cache was found after a short search. Thanks for the multi and cache..
Really disappointed. Here again with the boys expecting a quick find after your replacement last year.
The neighbours have had a whole lot of earthworks and re planting behind the seat ....No sign of rock or cache.
Was such an awesome multi.

Logging a find wih kind permission of CO...as we did all the work and visited twice but it has gone again...
Many thanks bkj97 !
Very enjoyable and slightly challenging multi!

Yay, this has been a blue frown for me way too long! So good to finally tick this one off! Thanks for bringing me to this little corner of the city, not once, but three times! FP from me. Tftc!
woo hoo...had a lot of fun solving this multi with my 8 and 10 year old grandsons today.
so happy to get the green tick and congratulations...
It's a bit of a drive to final as I'm not keen on driving in Wellington....so we hope it is actually there as had one dnf...and I am flying out this afternoon..
Great multi...good to have 3 pairs of eyes.

Was planning to give this a favourite point...but after the fun solve...we drove to the final and sadly could not find anything....
Oh well....hope next person does better....disappointing...have had this on my radar for years; but only get down about twice a year.

I solved this puzzle during lockdown (the starting coordinates are less than a km from home, and were on my regular exercise route), but not got around to hunting for final until today. Unfortunately, despite clear instructions in Geochecker, there was no sign of the cache (and no confirmed sighting for quite some time). Cool spot, though. I'd no idea that it was here.
I am travelling to Wgtn tomorrow via C Connection train but looking at caches in Wgtn and disccovered that i had not logged this cache. I first visited this site a long time ago but felt unsure whether i should 'enter' inner sanctum area but ;last year when my son was with me we walked up to the inner samctum.. the mini sort-of cul de sac area with its bench seat etc and located the cache and duly signed but i now discover i did not log the find so i have chosen an arbitary date of the 13 nov as i know my son was up in wgtn that weekend for his birthday and we were staying at another of my sons in karori .
It is probably 3 years ago that i visited the wedge in newton and i can supply the co ords of the final if required.
thank you for this cache

Calculated the results to this one a couple of days ago, and called by today to collect as part of a 10 day multi challenge (GC4VV3R). All is safe and dry here. TFTC.
My records indicate the coordinates for the final were obtained back in Nov 2016 so it was good to finally visit GZ this morning. In anticipation of visiting, I had rechecked the geocheck to make sure I actually did have the right coordinates.
The information from the geocheck made this mornings find quite easy, just had to brush back the vegetation to spy the hiding spot.
Well done in spotting another 'wedge' building in Wellington, a classic example.
Thanks for highlighting both of these interesting buildings and thanks for the cache.

This was a work in progress over nearly six years. I had no problems with the first stage and soon had co-ordinates that met with the satisfaction of GeoCheck. Two earlier visits to the final cache site were aborted due to the presence of muggles. I tried again today only to have a muggle sneak up behind me to ask what I was doing. It turned out he wasn't really a muggle as he knew about geocaching. It was good of him to mention that this area is public property although I was pretty sure the cache owner would have already sorted this out. It took a few minutes to find the cache after thoroughly checking what I considered to be the more likely hiding places. It is great to finally complete this interesting caching experience.
I targeted this cache as it helps me towards the 0-100 challenge cache on Kapiti.
Living close to Newtown it was easy for me to stop there on the way home from work to solve the puzzle. Thanks for bringing me to that curiously-shaped building and lovely mural! No one seemed to notice me lurking, peering and counting.
I got the correct coords first go and realised I’d need to claim the final another day. Today is that day! In beautiful summery weather I’ve found the cache, exactly as described in the excellent hint. No sign of muggles about. Love the quirky house nearby!

Visited the site a couple of weeks ago and collected the data. We calculated the final, got a location that looked reasonable on the map, but as we got close realised it didn't make much sense. Reviewed the data at home, made some corrections, and got a location that not only looked good but seemed to match comments in earlier logs. Made the find tonight after a few minutes of searching. We appreciated the house we were looking at, nicely in theme. TFTC.
#4212. I made a start on this multi about a year ago. Got some of the answers but found it hard to do at night. Also had a few weirdos hanging around that made it difficult to concentrate on the task. So today went back and tried it in daylight. Much easier this time. Took about 10 minutes to spot all the various clues. Some certainly required careful looking. Sat down to work out the checksum. Yes it matched. Then did the coordinates. Surprised by how far away the final was. Oh well time to go and have a look. Have to say its a part of Wellington I have never been to before. Was relieved to see the hint objects at the GZ and cache itself was a fairly quick find. All nice and dry. I could see why you chose this hiding spot. A nicely constructed and placed geocache. Favourite from me. PS - signed the same log sheet as johnthestrong
Arrived back in Wellington tonight and after picking up the car thought I would grab a few caches that I thought would be better to get at night. I work in Newtown so this one was solved a few years ago but never got around to finding. Tonight I made the effort to find. Didn't however find the replacement cache you put out on 13 August 2016 but the replacement cache from 11 December 2014. Thanks for the multi and thanks for the cache.
#309. Fourth Bkj97 multi
in 4 days. Nice easy walk around the Newtown Wedge getting the answers to the clues, even on a busy Saturday morning. Got the green geotick & decided to head straight to GZ to complete the formalities. Lots of dead leaves around obscuring the hint rock, but the pic was spot on! Had a great conversation there with Ian's friend, who guessed what I was doing. He showed me where the poor previous cacher had tumbled, and said he was the one who retrieved her glasses. Thanks for bringing me here & tftc, Bkj97.

Did the puzzle last year and finally picked it up My friends live in the identified muggle house beside the cache They helped a cacher who fell several metres down an adjacent steep bank while doing a search one time It's not down there! TFTC
Wow, that was a long time coming! I work in Newtown so this was one of the first caches I looked at and definitely the first multi more than a year ago. I'm never in the suburb where the final is but today I was there and child free! Cache all in good order and not disturbed even though there looks to have been some recent heavy gardening here. I felt quite conspicuous but didn't see a soul (3pm on a drizzly Sunday). Nice to have this as a smiley finally, thank you!
Find #2734. I don't normally do mid-week caching but after solving this one last week while near the hospital, I decided to leave it for a lunch time walk from work.
What a gem of a place and not an area many Wellingtonians would know of unless they live there or are hunting for a cache! Cute little cottages and ungainly houses perched on a hill that these days would have be bulldozed to oblivion.
The cache was an easy find with help from the Geochecker and Google maps as I didn't have the GPS with me.
Thank you for bringing me to this gem of a place and highlighting the beautiful historic buildings in Wellington. SL TFTC

Had time to kill around the hospital so gathered a couple of caches. Easily solved all the questions and got the sum check but if that's where it really is, I not retrieving it today. Will try next week when I'm in that area.
Solved the clues on Saturday and saw the final was within 1.5km of work, so retrieved it today on a sunny lunchtime walk. Tftc.
Been on my radar for a while, having lived in Newtown for 2 years! A bit more legwork than anticipated. Met up with a friend at a nearby pub, good excuse to grab this one. TFTC!
Was out and about and had solved the puzzle a while ago. Finally found this one! Another smiley face added! TFTC!
Thanks for an interesting little multi — good thing there's a GeoCheck given the distance from Newtown! Cute little street too. Easy find — now it's there — very impressed with bkj97 checking & replacing cache after a single DNF.
Spent a while searching gz between muggles per hints. Found couple of niches but no cache.
The Newtown wedge is now a patisserie and cafe. It reminds me in shape and usage of a Jo Lyons cafe outside Charing Cross Station in London that I visited many times as a child. It's funny what memory can do to you! The cache was an easy find. I love the quirkiness of the wedge house. TFTC
Had this one on the solved list for a while, just hadn't had chance to get over to the GZ. Was in the area tonight so stopped by just before Huhugrub's Pi event to collect. All good and didn't take long before cache was in hand. Luckily there didn't appear to be anyone around in the nearby houses! TFTC!
I saw this cache on my map every time I drove past it but never had the opportunity to stop and gather the information until a few days ago. Worked through the coordinates and found myself with a number that didn't match the checksum. A more careful examination after paying attention to the description revealed a different answer which matched everything up. The coordinates revealed the final to be in a location that I was not able to get to at the time so saved it for another day. After picking up some caches in the general area this evening I knew I would be passing by the final so stopped off to go grab this. I didn't even know there was a street here! Very quaint, but probably a lot more picturesque in the daylight.
I heard muggle voices from the wedge house, but didn't spot anyone from the final location. Had a bit of a hunt around before I got my hands on the container. I had found the pill within a pill cache, with the last signature on the logsheet being rack00n's entry, so I'm not sure what's going on here.
Put everything back and was heading back down when I spotted a muggle in the window of the wedge house, but I'm not sure that she spotted me - which is lucky as I was very suspicious looking hunting around in the dark with a torch, and adjusting the furniture. TFTC

Found today with The Wandering Dragons. Enjoyed the company of a friendly cat, but no two legged muggles. Thanks!
Cache # 1,082
Cache # 1,082
Cache # 2,733 - After my previous DNF, it has taken me a while to get back here/ I examined the spoiler photo closely, but even with that it took almost 10 minutes to find the well-hidden cache. All good there, although only one pill container, not two. Happy to find the area empty in the middle of the day. Did with Violet Butterfly. TNLNSL. Thanks for the hunt, and TFTC!
Collected the data on a precious trip to wellington - and it looked good so made the find today.... beautiful place took a moment to smell the flowers. t4tc (FP)
Solved the puzzle weeks ago and decided today was the day to give this a go. Construction crews all over the place, but still had a good look. Had forgotten to review the spoiler picture before going, so came up empty after 15 minutes of searching. Will be back again sometime soon and do it again.
A great multi and a final in a road I've run past many times but never ventured into before.
As other logs have noted the location is challenging, but as I work near by it was an easy log just before midday on a week day with most people at work or school.
TFTC.

A couple of trips to the wedge, both times it poured with rain just as I arrived so rather soggy notes at end. Managed pick up the following day and based on previous feedback chose a weekday lunchtime to sneak into GZ without attracting attention of curious neighbours. Really enjoyed the cache
Tftc! I like the continuation in wedge theme. Was initially a bit nervous finding the log with it being so close to all the houses. It's a very cute spot though!
Cutest road I have ever seen in NZ at GZ. Desperately want one of those houses! Wasn't even going caching today but then realised there was a multi right next to the cafe we were in and thought why not. TFTC
Solved this one a week or so back and today headed to the final. Demi the cat kept me company while I searched around the GZ and eventually came up with the goods TFTC
Thanks for replacing! we found the cache nicely hidden away where we thought it should have been the first time. was very careful not to raise suspicion from neighbours and signed the log without detection. Thanks for the multi and keeping this one going!
Like the previous log we too could not find the cache. The hiddey hole looks barren, fearing the worst! look forward to this one being back in action as the final is in a great spot! puzzle kept us entertained playing i-spy!
Solved this one quite a while ago. Visited GZ today on my morning run. Very interesting area. I found a nice little hidyhole that matched the hints, but unfortunately, there was no cache to be found. Fairly sure I was looking in the right place, so will wait and see what happens. TFTC - I would never have known about this area otherwise.
I really like the connection between the initial and final destinations, but I've always been loath to search within 2m of a potentially private property. Now, after being interrogated by a curtain-twitching resident, I've set a minimum distance of 7m. I could understand her initial qualms, but not her aggression and veiled threats. We definitely don't look "dangerous", but it is hard to be discrete when moving a bench to get to the hiding spot. And as it's quite an out-of-the-way path, it's even harder to "loiter" without arousing suspicion. [B)] Not a fun experience.
Solved (with help) a while ago and saving for the multi streak challenge. Great little area which have never been to before. Met some of the locals. Found with Selesi. TFTC
Solved a couple of months ago, but was sitting on final find for my multi streak challenge. Glad to see this replaced as I'd had trouble locating it on a recon mission last week. Pleased with the quick find in today's rain. Enjoyed the history and connection of location and final. TFTM
New film canister in place. Hints will be amended asap and spoiler photo a bit outdated. Niche now behind a small stone tucked under the right of a larger one.
Thanks to the owner for sorting this out and also giving me some very interesting information about the area around the final.
I had assumed because of my previous DNFs that I was probably just missing the mark, but it turned out the cache appeared to be missing and was promptly replaced!

Solved puzzle and surprised cache so far from Newtown. What a wonderful terrace we ended up in and even a bench to sit on to sign the log.

Had been down to Island Bay a week or two ago and stopped to solve this one on the way home.
Out tonight for a quick cache grab - very pleased that there is an excellent photo-hint on the geochecker. Don't think I would have found it without that.

Up in Welly for a few days for work, so working by day, caching my heart out at night!!
I had collected up the info for this one the day before, but didn't exactly want to make my way out to the final then... there were a few questions I was not too sure about, but ended up with checksum agreeing and location looking likely.
When I arrived at GZ though, I figured I must have had done something wrong... the GPS had me like 20m out onto private property... hmmm... so decided to search based on the hint...
I couldn't get the geochecker photo, but decided to search till I found it, as I was certain I was in the right general area...
And what do you know, a cache popped out at me! Pretty stoked to find it, as didn't really want to be walking back here!

Have changed the clue for A ....have used the number of grills (-3) that contain cabbage trees rather than counting the trees themselves just in case someone eats the cabbage trees by mistake.
It seems the pole at A has been altered. Until I check and amend the clue use the check sum to deduce the answer for A
Had trouble finding the answer to A - looks like there is a new 'temporary' pole here now - will email the owner with a pic (if I can!)
From our perch in the Bordeaux - at the very sharpest piece of the wedge - we were almost able to pick-up most of the needed clues. Maths went wrong first time around, so a bit of reworking went in and then we had the check sum tallying.
Off to GZ.
Now here's an unknown hideaway. Not a place previously visited by us. So that was a pleasantly surprising part of this cache experience.
Log signed, all in order, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Was out last night looking to pick a few caches for the months total. It was pretty cool at WP1, but got the questions answers okay. Thought I'd leave the final for another day, but after a miserable run the southern caches (some of which look like I'll never get ...) I thought why not. Found that I was in a totally unknown area. So quietly tucked away, does it show up on maps? The final is good condition. TFTM
Solved this yesterday and today I wandered around Wilton's Bush then headed over the hill to the final for this. It's night now, and I have been walking for nearly 10 hours. And getting ready to be all disappointed over the final here. See a nice wedge structure in Newtown then send me way over here to some random backstreet where there can't be any... There is!!
Now this is why I like cycling around Wellington (pity, no bike today). I like cycling around Wellington for exactly the same reason others hate cycling around Wellington. Traffic, weird streets like these, often with big trucks hogging the road, hills, really silly house designs like those found at the final here. Thanks for putting in the seats and the street light here, would have been really hard in the pitch black!
This gets a favourite. Thanks, bkj97. See you at the Mega.

Solved a couple of days ago, and retrieved today. Neat hidden area I didn't know existed! BTW don't even think about driving into the street the cache is hidden on - have no idea how the locals get vehicles up there! TFTC - a worthy FP.
We solved this a few months ago which was a fun thing to do together. The final WP fell off the RADAR for a while and only reappeared this week. Made the effort to complete the mission today. Enjoyed the "other" wedge. You wouldn't expect it to be that thin from side on. I had to resort to the trusty iPad to bring up the photo before I could make the find, so at least three of those green ticks are mine! Great, not so wee, multi.

Well that was a mission !
Was in Newtown on the evening of the 13th so had the paperwork to sort out the numbers.
Took note of all required information and then went and sat in Bar Edward to do the required maths, enjoy a couple of real ales, and a quick Geocheck !
My answer was correct [hence the find] and a co-ord check for final, decided to do the final during lunch today as the location was closer to work than the start location.
A nice stroll and once at GZ, a quick find and rest on the seat, or was it the bench, can't remember.
No muggles around so a quiet stamp of the log and replace.

Still no luck with this one despite a lengthy search with the spoiler at hand.
Very quiet today, fortunately as although it is probably legally public property it also seems to form part of someone's front garden.

TFTC! It was funny how puzzled we were for this one when it was right under our noses all along. Found after a short search.
Another interesting wedge right by GZ. What a great hidden spot.
The muggle who lives about GZ was doing soe work on the house so was up a ladder over looking GZ. We retreated to the bottom of the hill, having not looked at the picture so we could do a quick grab rather than poking around in his view. A quick check on my phone and then we went back at it.
The area has changed a bit since the photo was taken but it was still enough for us to figure out where we needed to look.

Tried again last night with a GPS so knew where to search! Muggled successively by two roosters, a cat and a human, the latter seemed to be associated with the cat, maybe its owner. Gave up once the human muggle arrived though I had done a bit of a search by that time. Returned tonight and a bit quieter, but had a bit of trouble reconciling the information in the spoiler with the current look of the GZ. Poked around as many possible hiding places as possible (excluding some which could be seen by the owner of the nearby residence above) till I ran out of time and it was getting dark anyway.
#833. It took a few minutes to track this one down, it didn't help that my initial GZ put me in someone's backyard. A quick check of my numbers identified my mistake and the cache was soon I hand. A nice spot I would never have found on my own. SL, TFTC.

Left my GPS at home so caching opportunities were minimal, but as my travels took me to Newtown I decided it was about time I tried to solve this one after some previous half hearted attempts. Finally solved it though I slipped up with one clue, however sorted with the checksum and went back to confirm that I had made the error I suspected.
Got the tick and the extra hint, so had a go with just that and the map, wedging my necessarily brief visit in between my bus travels, thought I was in the right spot but didn't find the cache so will have to go back with the GPS next time. Interesting location and though I have been in the GZ area many times I didn't know about this fascinating byway.
I have been inside the Newtown Wedge" as I had friends living there at one time, also used to pass it frequently as I used to attend meetings in the nearby Community Centre.

Nice little bus ride. Found the replacement log. not sure if the original is still there.
Found with ProteusElemental. Was a nice mish, always nice when a cache takes me somewhere I haven't been.
This is close to my workplace so gathered the puzzle answers over several lunch times a couple of months ago and off to GZ today to find the cache. Found not one but two at GZ, one slightly below the other with a replacement log in it. Signed the original log book only. TFTC.
After having retreived the coordiantes earlier in the week I decided that I could possible wedge a journey to the final into my lunchtime today. On arrival at the gz the cache was fairly quickly in had and the paperwork completed. A nice final location. TFTC
#2478. Got the coords on in June (on a day with a howling southerly). Checked out GZ soon after, and the cache was gone. Checked out again once it was re-enabled, and then left for a future "dot day". Today was a dot day, so we went looking for a Wedge. All quiet at GZ, and a quick find. Interesting spot. TFTC.
Was quite tricky gathering the information required and we had to make several passes to get the last tricky number. That was a month or two ago. A dot day for both of us today, so we met after work and soon had the cache in hand (helped by StreetWalker's previous recce).
Very interesting at the final, but felt as though I was in someone's front yard.
Thank you for showing me some (more) quirky Wellington places.

This cache was consistent with many of my other finds this week - solved one day and found the next. Didn't manage to be observant enough for one of the answers. Fantastic houses at GZ. I haven't quite worked out the connection yet - still pondering on that. TFTC #2449
