Had no luck with this one. There has been some work done around the GZ and my GPS was showing the cache to be right in the middle of a freshly graded and cleared area. It might be a good idea to check to see if this one is still there.
pulled up to this one and had a good look around what the gz a few spots seemed likely but nothing was there. i would have liked to spend a bit more time but the kids wanted a playground will have to come back to this one
I can remember struggling up Pretty Sally in an old Ford 60 years ago. This all brought back interesting memories. TFTC
Thanks for the cache, nice to know where the road house was. Walked right to it, that was nice as the iPhone was not showing the spot as well as my eyes were. I think this is the the second Mad Max cache we have done. A shame poor Mel, has been in so many bad books the last few years. we actually got lost, and this cache helped us get back on the road again. We have got to remember they don't put rest stops in new developments
I think this is the second I've done in the Mad Max series. Looking forward to doing the rest. Was a quick find and sign. Thanks for the series tackle_head.
My first find of the Mad Max series. Look forward to finding the others.
On my way home from visiting the family in Heathcote. This was my 3rd out of 3 finds on the way back to Melbourne. A fairly easy find or maybe I was lucky.

Very quick drive by while out caching with moorooducrobbo in and around Kilmore. TFTC
I was working in the area and saw this one needed a tlc. The cache is missing. So I've replaced it with a bison tube , inside a mint tin , temporarily until the CO follows it up.
Always happy to help a fellow Geocacher.

Looked today again. I'm positive it's not here dug very deep in the hole with beer bottle not there!
DNF at 10:34:09 AM. Looked on both sides of the road - no cache could be seen. The area is a bit of a mess with deadbeats throwing their rubbish all around.
It is interesting that you can still see the Charcoal Grill sign!

Found spot I believe had beer bottle in its place and nasty underneath I will go back once more but I believe it may have been muggled. TFTC Anyway.....
Looking back at all the 'easy find' logs, I'm hoping it was just a bad start to my long to Echuca and back.
Arrived here and searched all possible places i could see, but had no luck in the rain in finding this one.
Thanks anyway TH, would've been nice to cross another in this series off.

Our first road trip since we started caching... let's see how many smileys we can squeeze into the trip north.
Ooh... a Mad Max cache... the perfect way to start the day. Boy, the journey over Pretty Sally has become so much easier since Dad drove us to Christmas dinner way back when.
A nice quick drive-up on a muggle-free day. Cheers, tackle_head.

On my way to Melbourne today and decided to leave the freeway for some back road adventuring and a cache or two. Found in short order, TNLN SL and TFTC!
Found at 11.45. A nice easy find and thankfully not in the eye of passing traffic.

I found myself over this side of town hunting for a FTF at "Historic Kilmore Country" late at night. I wanted to pad my numbers up a little while over here to get closer to 3000 finds.
I kept looking in all the wrong places. Even with a good hint I could not find it. Then I finally looked correctly and there it was. TFTC

On our way to Echuca for our sons wedding and we just had to do some caches as we went. Nice to find a real 'drive-by', so many of them aren't really! Took TB 22 GBR. TFTC

Easy cache, pitty about the mess around it! Saw a little bit of the roadhouse but as it was getting dark, didn't have a good look. Thanks for this find.

Found @ 16:44. Some grading next to GZ, but cache all safe. Disappointed not to see any of the cafe but the memories live on. Cache a bit damp so we removed the tissues and put in some silicagel. Took nothing left TB to help his journey north.

Another stifling hot day, and we caching idiots are out in the heat again. I have no idea why we do it, but we just keep on hunting for one more...and one more... and so on.

Found with Just a cacher after a trip to Ballarat to see some friends for New Years. A quick grab in the heat.
Surprisingly not much traffic on the roads today, perhaps the heat is keeping them in the cool.

On my return from Melbourne's 1st and my 1,000 cache I thought it would be rude not to get a smiley on a tackle_head cache.
Well this one dissapointed me
Not the cache though, the fact you can't see a thing of the roadhouse.
The bloody conifers are thick as!!
Oh well, I'll haver to pull out the DVD again for some cherished memories.

Cache is *very* moist from all the wetter weather we have had over the last couple of months. Cheers.
After passing this cache maybe 100's of times since moving to Kilmore, I thought it was about time to grab it, so thus I did, around 1700hrs and plenty of traffic passing by. We have done a couple of the other caches in the Mad Max Series. Many thanks for this one.

#704 We have had this one on our 'to do' list as geoMa's name is Sally AND we both remember calling into this Roadhouse many moons ago when it was on the main road to Melbourne. Pretty Sally Hill was also an indicator that Melbourne was not too far away on our long trips from Wangaratta as children. GeoPa is a fan of Mad Max movies, GeoMa not so much. Looks like we have a few more of the series to find yet. Oh the places geocaching takes us! Found at 10.13am and a much quicker trip today than all those years ago - although stopping for caches does make the trip take longer but sweeter. [^] Took: Rose GC Left: To Oz and Back TB TFTC tackle head and the trip down memory lane - a pretty quiet place today.
Relatively straight forward find, dropped GC, Number 11 of 13 in the series for me. Thanks t_h.
Quick find after finding the massive potholes driving in. Couldn't help but notice the irony of having wet in the cache number as it was pouring rain and I took it back to the car to swap some tb's and sign.

10/07/2011 11:52 Found: #547 1of6 My first Mad Max series cache. We just happened to be passing by on the way to Bendigo when I saw this appear on the GPS. As it happened we parked a mere 4m from GZ. I showed AAA the GPS and he had it in hand 5 seconds later. After signing the log and telling him about the movie etc Josh and I walked along the tree line till we could get a look at the roadhouse and part of the charcoal sign. A great start with this series. TFTC tackle_head. TN Left TB TB392FA 'GEO Garfield' SL
found with geo child on our round about way to Tongala. We drove past this before I realised I had missed the turn off as it was wet dark and foggy night. Turned around and come back and due to fog nearly drove past for a 2nd time. Found GZ and quickly retrieved cache and jumped back in car to SL etc as it was freezing at 9.40 pm. SL and then returned cache as fast as I could so I didn't freeze. T2L2(1XTB) TFTC
great.. now we will have to find the other 12 or so caches in this series. Looking forward to completing this set. Took compass and left nail clippers. Thanks for the cache.
Have driven past this spot a couple of times, but finally had the wherewithal to stop and visit this iconic site. Yes the old roadhouse may be past its day, but what a location for our first meeting with the Goose! I can just imagine him screaming off in pursuit of the Toe Cutter!
We started on the wrong side of the road, but once we re-evaluated our situation, cache was very quickly in hand. Found with Kilmore Harper.

Found just after midnight whilst coming home from a rally in Heathcote, nice easy drive which was quick to find. The only hassle with doing a Mad Max at night is that you can't see the scene very well. Thanks to tackle head for this series, this is number three I've found so far.
Found at 15:37hrs, this is one of my local caches, and thought I'd do a couple this afternoon. TFTC TN, planned to leave my signature pathtag in the cache, but found it still in my pocket at the next cache.
I find it amazing that a lot of cachers only write on one side of the page in logbooks, I do understand when people use stamps it is difficult as the ink leaches through the page.
Performed some maintenance for tackle_head, cleaned the seals on the container, dried some of the damp items, replaced the absorbent material in the bottom of the cache as it was wet and removed the clip seal bag containing specific mission data sheet for [TB Ingot Geocoin], as the TB Ingot Geocoin and associated Tassie Devil keyring has since been removed from the cache.

3.45 Out and about with 80 degrees today and the sun is out but not hot. What else could you want, but a list of caches to be done(created by Mrs 80), Mr X behind the wheel and the support team rearing to go.
We are on track and Mrs 80 is very pleased with our timing thanks to the beast taking out so much of the walking time, we may even get through them all.
This is a very easy drive by. Not a great lover of these Mad Max Movies but appreciate the effort of the cacehs.
This was our 18th for the day.

We actually drove past this one going in the opposite direction, but being a roadside stop there was plenty of room to do a "u-ey" with the camper on so we could grab it - worked out well, because we then continued onto "Looking over Wallan" which we were going to bypass this trip.
Can't say either of us have actually watched Mad Max - but definately heard about it - we will put that on the "to-do" list.

I remember this road house from before the movie...Many a time we had boiled the old FE Holden on the crawl up the 'Sally" with the speedway car on the back! And we had to wait for a while till she cooled down. I wasn't into coffee then (and neither were they in that respect) so we had to resort to other drinks to cool us down. Still a great life back then. They should restore this place back to its former glory instead of hiding it behind a hedge fence. When I worked for Mayne Nic's way back then, many a driver would tell you stories of crawling up Pretty Sally with a load on.
Thanks Tacklehead for bringing back the memories

Found in the company of Mr Coffee & Team Crackers, and also ran into The Swaggies & Mr Jibblets as we arrived! The cache was soon at hand, but what were the other cars racing in to the parking area doing? Cachers? nope, just spewing kids. hehehe. No swaps made, thanks for the cache.
