After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.

Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Geckoh, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.

My 1st cache on this scenic EastCape route. What a beautiful setting for this church and cemetery but oh what sadness reading 3 of the headstones.

Was working in the area and had to grab at least one cache out here. As I've never been this far east before, this one will look good in my caching stats.
A great place for a cache near this very picturesque and well restored church.
Thanks for placing a cache here.

It's my Mega weekend road trip! This is day seven and I'm off to Gisborne around the Cape (but not the lighthouse, sadly). Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC

First stop on the trip. Lovely church. It's a bit of a rugged road this one, need to have all my concentration on driving.

Spending a week exploring the East Cape, today from Te Kaha to Lottin Point. Stopped at this lovely church, sadly it was locked so we couldn't see inside. Cache soon found, signed and replaced. Back at the car a friendly horse just walked right up to us, seemed very happy to get a quick rub, but was probably after an apple that we didn't have. TFTC

What a view, it looks like a postcard. The church is really nice, the white paint probably adds to the effect, as the pine next to it. Cache was easily found, we spent quite some time at the beach, playing with rocks. Thanks for taking us here, it was our last cache for 2021.

Definitely worth a visit. Lovely little church and well taken care of. Interesting looking stone formations in the bay behind the church as well.

A lovely church to stop for photos. Made our way to GZ and soon had the cache in hand.
Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!
Thanks for the cache, Geckoh

We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.

I had a fall on day two of our holiday, while out geocaching which has resulted in a fractured bone in my leg and I am in a moon boot and with crutches and I was told to keep weight off my leg. So I am only limited use when it comes to our trip now. I tend to stay in the campervan and just hand out suggestions of when and where GK should search.

What a lovely setting for a church to be, it is a shame that the maintenance is not kept up on the roof, the birds are having a lovely time nesting in the roof. GK made a nice quick find here, he signed the log and returned it as he found it.

Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

A lovely experience visiting a much loved church in such a beautiful location.
We sheltered in the church while a squally rain shower passed through.

Day 6 of my week long road trip of geocaching, camping and seeing a few bands. Today I'm cruising around, seeing the sites and doing some geocaches.

Enjoying a reason to stop here but sad to read of the death of 3 family members.
Heading around East Cape today while on a road trip around the North Island with NZ Bozzy.
We are collecting North Island TMTG caches and also some oldies and some missing DT ones as well And celebrating a special birthday too.
Sometimes we just stop and grab a cache cos we can.
TFTC and bringing us here
sorry for the cut and paste

01-Oct-20
Quick find thanks to good coords and hint. When we arrived at the church no one else was there but we were soon inundated by other vehicles and visitors. An iconic church which we would have stopped to photograph anyway but the cache was a bonus. We agree with previous comments about so many members of one family in the cemetery here, very sad. TFTC Geckoh.

30-Sep-20
Travelling to Hicks Bay from Rotorua today with Nosynel and Ethness. Our goal is to find all the TMGT caches in a big figure 8 across the centre of the North Island. Oops I picked up the coin in Whakatane but it will visit the South Island. A lovely church but very sad looking in the attached graveyard. What a tragedy. Thanks for the hide.

So many Stirlings in the graveyard, especially the 3 brothers who died on the same day. So sad.

Jude_E, NosyNel and I are continuing on our figure of 8 tour of the North Island collecting the ‘Tour’ caches, plus others, plus seeing the scenery, plus having a good old time. TFTC.

17-Sep-20
I picked up a trackable that marks 500 finds. Sorry for the late log, I needed to research what I had picked up when I had service. It’s a cool find as I’m coming up to 500 finds myself I will place it in a TMGT cache in Whakatane on my way home.

14-Sep-20
What a beautiful spot! Very windy here today but still lots of people visiting the church. Thanks team Geckoh for the cache. Great placement

06-Aug-20
Travelling round the East Cape in our motorhome. A must see church, and guess what.... There's a cache here too. Nice quick find and picked up one trackable to move it on. TFTC

14-Jul-20
On a TMGT expedition, with four wagging tails in tow. {We were a little bit surprised by two stones flicked up on the way here yesterday. New windscreen tomorrow now, so moving a bit in next few hours.}
Great visit, around outside of this church. Bare feet on the smooth edged stones, was surprisingly sharp, down on the beach.
A little search to find and there it was.
Took the musician TB, and dropped a couple of others.
One Tb out; two TB in, including a Christmas themed one (now at base of a pohutukawa?)

07-Feb-20
We are away for a few days on a TMGT tour journey through to Gisborne and back again. After a smash and grab on our last Whakatane Cache, we have had to be happy with a temporary perspex passenger window for the rest of our trip, so not too keen on leaving the car for any length or out of sight caches. We braved it for a few moments to locate this cache. Very pretty spot. We took some great pictures from here, which we will add later. SL. TFTC.

Found this cache behind the church at such a beautiful location while on my holiday in NZ. TFTC

26-Jan-20
Beautiful situation and today’s brilliant sunshine and blue skies make it even more picturesque. The graveyard tells a story of family tragedy too. TFTC and Blue Bailey TB dropped

26-Jan-20
A beautiful church in a fabulous location, but with some tragic stories told in the headstones in the graveyard. A local woman told me of the three brothers in their 20s killed in a motor-vehicle collision nearby on the way back from college. Thanks for bringing me here. Have a favourite point.

22-Jan-20
Suddenly got busy when I stopped. Nice church. Not often you see penguins inside. Pengi was very impressed.

01-Jun-19
Windy, bleak and blustery day driving from Whakatane to Waihau Bay, taking it slowly, stopping regularly, taking in the sights. Awesome little spot, but a sad cemetery with 3 young men from the same family all taken to God on the same day. Ventured behind the church for a play about on the jagged rocks, and to watch the waves crashing. TFTC Geckoh

Nice church our last geocache today

24-Apr-19
We started out today early. Last night was spent in Tologa Bay. Tonight's destination was Whakatane. This was our last stop. The church looked beautiful, with the coast behind it.

We crossed Cook Strait using the Inter Islander on Saturday. Today is day five. We spent the full day in Gisborne yesterday day.

This Easter JDScout and I are off on an East Cape adventure. We are driving in our campervan from Christchurch. This has been something we always wanted to do. I am combining this trip with geocaching.

Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

After the sheep kissed us awake this morning we said goodbye to our european neighbours and went on along the east coast across the Raukumara Forest Park. We visited the tallest Kahikatea tree of NZL (really no cache there?), the very beautiful church of Raukokore (with cache) and the swiss hut also with cache, fresh fruit and real fruit ice-cream - again very delicious. Before we reached Rotorua we could smell it. We passed Hells Gate and this was the start of our tasty stay in this area. Not a lot of caches but an unforgettable experience of sense.

Today we made a trip from Rotorua to Hicks Bay, thereby visiting many new sightseeing locations and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was between bad in the morning and very good in the afternoon, colder in the morning but it got warmer in the afternoon. Funny clouds were our compagnions the whole trip.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.

Thanks to Geckoh for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Raukokore Church (East Coast BOP). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.

Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Day 6 - Wednesday - Te Araroa to Tauraunga. Another day in the sun - so lets go!

This Church is on a lovely peninsula. Walked around to snag and tag this one. Luckily no one else was about. I then had a look inside. Love the info above the door explaining all the different designs. Fav from me. Cheers
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Taraunga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

I love these little back country churches. Some are in awesome condition, showing that the local parish likes them too. Had a bit of a look around, then moved on. Nice place.

---

Day 6 of my Mega trip: East Cape to Tauranga. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi. Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip.
