Was a bit too overgrown for CCS and I but loved the drive through the back roads

04-Apr-23
Spotted this dot on the map a few times and after doing some nearby caches, decided to head over here today. Drove along the logging tracks and turned onto a goat track. There was a ute parked on the track not far from GZ. Parked out of sight and scooted into the bushes.

Good coords and a hint made this a successful mission All good wth this hide. Now to find my way out of here.

It’s road trip time. With plenty of places out east that have yet to be explored, OzHockeyChick and I set off to see some sights in Gippsland.

First find for the day while camping nearby. A quick find nearby the lake.

Thanks Jimmymaff for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

The last weekend of daylight savings - Time to head away for the weekend to the Latrobe Valley for some exploring, camping and caching with RoamingHowie.

Our first for the day. Once we found the best track to drive in, we made the quick find. So quiet here… nothing but the sounds of frogs.

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Jimmymaff

One of the things we love about geocaching is how it brings us to places we probably wouldn't otherwise visit. This was another of those places...

Thanks for find #3688
Took [Dorothy](https://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TB4K7ZZ) trackable, left nothing

YAY Big Grin - I found 'I can see clearly now" while out on a caching run today. I've been watching this one for awhile and was quite happy to see that the C.O. had had the chance to go out and check on it. So, I included it in my run today. AND - YAY Big Grin - I found it. This area is such a hidden gem. I wonder why there is a relatively new fence within the lake? It seems a bit odd. Thanks Jimmymaff for setting up and maintaining a cache is this spot. You can certainly see that this area was affected heavily by the bushfires a few years ago.

PS: The Troll Dolls (TN6TR0) were with me on my great caching adventures today.

We were not sure if we had come to the right place initially, as there was no table, seating or bbq. But after seeing some of the previous comments it seems like these have probably been removed. We managed to find our way around the very full lake to the GZ, but unfortunately we're not able to find the cache. A fire has been through the area in the last few years, so it's possible that the cache has been destroyed. But then again perhaps a more eagle eyed geocacher will have more luck than us!

29-Feb-20
The 2019 fires have been right through this area and there is no sight of any surviving cache.

This one might need a check and possibly replacement.

We found ourselves a parking point right at the start of a track that headed in the way we needed to go. When we arrived at a large clearing we were so pleased to find that the tide was out and we walked straight across. We found a bench seat to sit and rest our weary selves after finding the cache. Bigrobv and I have wanted to get these caches for a while and after buying a 4WD for caching purposes we are now able to get a whole bunch that were previously off limits.

This was a fun cache and after trying one way we determined the undergrowth looked a little thick and came in from the other side like others have. A lovely walk in the Bush. Thanks for the hide

30-Jun-18
This was the first cache for Holy Plains that was tackled by Team BigNoonaBV, lucky for us we chauffeur driven by NoonaB's partner in the newly acquired 4WD geo-mobile.

Whilst a 4WD is not a must for these caches, i highly recommend a car with a decent amount of clearance and nice wide tyres, the roads and tracks into here are quite sandy and rutted.

With this cache, we read some previous logs and decided on the easiest path to this cache. If you find yourself against a wall of thick trees, maybe try coming in from the other side.

Both NoonaB and myself enjoyed this cache and all its native surroundings, thanks for a great cache.

After finding the correct way in thanks to the satellites above got to the parking spot then walked into an area I was expecting to have water but it was bone dry, anyway got GZ snake free signed log back to suzi now off to the next cache Tftc

15-Aug-16
This is definitely one of those places I wouldn't have visited if there hadn't been a cache there. I was glad that I had a map of the roads to get here as some of them looked very boggy after the rain recently. At least the rain had put some water into the lake although it doesn't look like it will last once summer hits! TFTC

15-Aug-16
It was an interesting bush walk. I remember when th lake was full and we would bring our kide here to swim. TFTC.

29-Jul-16
Found it while visiting the Park camping.
At GZ was the 2nd spot that I tried. TFTC

08-Mar-16
I used to come out here with my family when I lived on Longford-Rosedale Rd. Found the road easily enough, but when I got down there it didn't seem right - the solid fuel BBQ and seating is gone (I'm certain there used to be a sign too), The place is massively overgrown and the lake was bone dry.
We went across the lake then bush bashing. Not much left of the walking track and the seat with a view not far from GZ is overgrown and lacks a view.
But despite the disappointing state of the area we managed to get our hands on the cache. Took Wallace, left marble. TFTC.

05-Oct-13
What bush bash! Mr red belly black snake kept slithering in the direction we needed!

05-Oct-13
We approached from the other side, as we were unable to find a road. So we bush bashed. We were literally crawling though tea trees. Thought "this must be a 5 for difficulty" then was suprised to find it was a 2. Also suprised that there was an easier way in

05-May-13
Teaser thought the walking track was the way to go, bad idea. It is so overgrown need a chainsaw in some spots. Definitely "walking on water" to get back. Good find now safely in geobus but was cussing jimmymaff on the trek. Tftc

last cache of the day.
walk across the dry lake bed as the sun was going down to find the cache.
still a great place to visit with or without water.

20-Apr-13
We didn't get to do this one last time we were here, so today we made a special trip. I think we found the bast place to park, after driving down the road we were meant to go down. We were expecting it to be a lake, but instead it was a dry bed with a lot of burnout marks on it. We walked straight across that and climbed through some bush to find the cache and pick up a nice geocoin. TFTC

Came in from the wrong end (or tried to) not the first I think, offsider found it OK. TFTC

Where do I begin.......? I don’t even know how I ended up out here looking for this cache but I did. I followed TOM TOM and he sent me on a wild goose chase. I ended up about 210 meters away and trekked through scrub thinking to myself "Self, how did Jimmy ever find this spot? And how did you come up with the cache name" as it wasn't that clear to see anything in the bush. My GPSr took me straight to the cache. It was exposed but it was in good condition. I signed the log and rehid it. I then headed back to the car.

I read the description when I got home and soon realised that I was on the other side of the billabong approaching the cache. Not to worry I enjoy the stroll through the scrub.

After telling geowife we are going for a short drive into the pines and after a few turns she got a bit disorientated because every road looks the same. On arrival at our destination and after a short walk to GZ we sat down to sign the log and almost got carried away by the mozzies. I think this place should be called Mozzie Heaven. TNLN. Under heavy gunfire (the local rifle range was up and running!!!), we made the short trek, a couple of hundred metres, to where we parked, to find the cache. Found quite quickly by Geo Pre-teen. Nice hide!

Thanks Jimmymaff for the cache.

What an AWESOME Adventure.... Thank you so much Jimmymaff for the great hide. This was a fantastic Saturday Morning drive through the pines. Yes we did take the wrong way in but it made for a great time trying to work out how to find the cache.

Thank you so much.

We *highly Recommend* this cache to everyone to do.

This is so much fun....

Cheers

The Madstars Family

P.S. Little Miss Madstars made the find.

Easy find at the co-ords. Good spot!

31-Oct-10
Lots of mozzies encouraged us to find this one quickly. No problems though. We then went on to chase some more caches. The lake here was dry enough to walk across and the day was fine and windy. Thanks jimmymaff for the cache.

Found by Greg 1400H 19/03/10. TNLN TFTC. How do you guys find these places? Talk about off the beaten track. Loved the search.

01-Feb-10
No mozzies today, although plenty of flies. We walked across what appears to be a dried lake bed, towards the cache. We noticed a lonely looking park bench not far from the cache. A bit burned. Would be a much prettier spot with a bit of water.

No mud, just dry earth. No frogs, even too dry and hot for mozzies. Found in 43 degrees but enjoyed the breeze on the lake bed. Took Sellotape and left a Star Award pendant. Thanks to Jimmymaff for the cache and getting us into the Holey Plains State Park. Must come back on a cooler day and enjoy some of the longer walks.

Mozzies, mozzies, mozzies.... Dam they were bad.

Found it and got out of there quickly - due to mozzies.

Took: TB
Left: Nothing.

Thanks for the cache!

6/11/2009 1020hrs Found by Studit.

I nearly took your number from the cache sticker so I could ring you and abuse you.

I thought I would just duck out here and do this one after I dropped the boy at school. I left Sale at 0830. My Garmin mapping software isn't so good when it gets off the road. Turn here, turn there take this road that doesn't exist. Along the pipeline. On it goes.

Lucky I had the balding Cooper’s on. The Mickey T’s might not have made it. There is a positive though - I found a great spot for a hide. Trouble is I won't be able to find the spot again even though I marked it in the GPS!

Seriously it was a great hide. The mozzies were fine until I stopped. There was a white cockatoo standing guard in a tree and plenty of wallabies to see on the way. I have seen black cockatoos out in the area before, but not today.

I left a short note in the log due to the mozzies.

Took nothing. Left all points TB. Fitting really; its been to all points of the park and pine plantation.

Thanks again for a great hide.

1157 re-logging due to name change

01-Nov-09
1157 I haven't done much caching this year, so I thought I'd torpedo a few blips on the radar. Never one to take the direct path, I drove all over the place trying to get near the GZ. Once there it was an easy find. There are a lot of mozzies nearby but don't worry about the Aeroguard - they love the stuff. TFTC Jimmymaff

26-Oct-09
We parked near this nice little picnic area and although we have had some reasonable rains of late there was still no water to be seen , just only mud , which it appears that the local trail bikers enjoy. We got to gz and wished that we had headed the warning about the aeroguard as as soon as we stopped walking they started biting.
Thanks Jimmymaff, hopefully one day the area will see fish again

24-Oct-09
Found after a brief walk and a long drive. Navman sent me in circles....

Mozzies out in force today along with a bucketload of wildlife - was more a a fauna expidition for Geokid with 2 emus, heaps of roos and wallabies and even an echidna wandering near gz.

Great spot, TFTC!

21-Oct-09
With Hillbridge. After yesterdays close call when I attempted to use the Stargate I thought an experienced Wingman sorry Snake man wouldn’t go astray. Lucky the rain hasn’t left any problems on the roads so the Ford easily conquered these little mountains unlike the big one at Bathurst. A very nice place. You can see that it was once a popular spot, man made tracks and seats around the lake. Looks like most people now watch TV. T4TC and the mossies.

21-Oct-09
This was a bit more of an adventure - we didn't find the entry and carpark until after finding the cache - so it was through the bush to find the lake and then find the cache. There were a few DSE guys on the west end - so it worked out pretty well coming through the bush - they didn't even see me - although the mozzies did!
A quick find, signed the log and took the FTF certificate - no swaps today as the TB I had wouldn't fit. Thanks to Jimmymaff for another cache where I haven't been before, and a FTF!!!

Took a little navigating to fing the parking parking spot, but once found and a short walk it was soon in hand. Funny to see a bench seat so far away from the lakes edge, I guess the lake was once alot deeper way back in the day.
