Couldn't find the cache in the most obvious location but on return to the car I found the container smashed and spread across the ground about 30m from the Gz.
So sorry I didn't have a replacement container with me.
The log was completely water logged.
I have it with me, let me know if you want it back Alansee.
Cheers mate.

I have the log and damaged container, see my note/log.
Such an awesome area, cheers for the cache.

Had great fun searching this amazing piece of forest, but unable to locate. This was our first attempt at geocaching so maybe we should’ve started with an easier one! GPS kept spinning us around - one moment the cache was 3m forwards, then suddenly 41m in the opposite direction! Gave it a good shot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, but hopefully more successful next time!
THe title of this cache had us wondering what we may be up for. Of course we had to ggogle it to see for ourselves. And as the CO suggested, there is no mention of how this area gets its name. Lucky for us the cache was easily found. TFTC Alansee.

I had been given a big chunk of time to go caching today after a busy day yesterday with the kids. I made an early start in the darkness but pretty soon the sun was out to reveal a beautiful day. In this park my GPS was so wobbly -it took me ages to find this one. Eventually stumbled across the cache when I was about to give up. A beautiful location, TFTC!
My second attempt at this one and now success. A great walk through this pine plantation. Thanks alansee.
Great location. Beautiful walk through woods. Felt like a fairy forest. The cache is in need of maintenance- lots of fungus and everything except notebook is water damaged. Cheers
By now I'd been caching since before 9am and was getting tired, so this was the last cache of the day. Made my way along the trail and the sun was starting to go down. It was lovely being in the forest floor, but I needed my torch to help find the cache!
After a while I spotted it. The log book was mush but I put in a new one and let the CO know.
Thanks Alansee

I went for a bit of a walk this morning while a muggle was walking in the nearby commercial gardens. I found the other multi's in the area when he phoned to say he was ready to be picked up. Lucky he was up for a walk as he agreed to come back and make this find with me. Of course we just had to continue on and find a few others around here on our long way back to the car. This was our last find for the day. You are right, it was an obvious spot to a geocacher. The muggle couldn't help but pose on the nearby structure. TFTC Alansee
Today we explored Monbulk and surrounds using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. An easy find. Container very wet, added a new log sheet in a zip lock bag. The bikes have now made a jump over the cache, I placed some timbers in the hole to try and camoflauge the container.
Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment

All wet, cache had a fair bit of water in it.. so everything is wet... what an awesome spot though.. never knew this was here.. no bikes today though
Took geo girl and geo dog with me to get this cache, after stuffing around for quite some time, we got serious and found it but not giving up and giving it 5 more minutes.
Cache number 124 Beautiful area to explore. Gee those mountain bikers are inventive.
Gorgeous I will be back.

Just been replaced by the owner. Nice easy find well hidden. Mum/#SEALTeam4 got some unloved but i found the cache TFTC
We'd come to find a few caches nearby and luckily muggle hubby was feeling relaxed after his walk in the fresh air and was happy for us to try for this one before heading home. We didn't check the description or logs until we'd walked to it as it'd looked like it was going to rain soon, so imagine our surprise when we realised it had only just been replaced.
From a distance we saw a "cachey looking" spot and I was suprised to not find it when I looked. The coordinates seemed pretty good for it, especially considering the tree coverage. We looked in some other spots but still no joy. I got Geoduaghter to check the previous logs and that's when we realised it had been missing until yesterday or today (date varies from app to website)! Phew, that was lucky! And 6 months unloved to boot! Geodaughter had another look in the first place we'd looked and there it was, all fresh and fabulous
Love finding an ammo can, they are so rare, even in the bushy areas. Thanks for replacing it and making our day. We had a lovely walk and can go home happy and refreshed, just like this cache, a favourite for us

Seeing as this had been replaced and I was going to be in the general area today, thought I'd drive by and find it.
Again, I love the entrance to the woods here. I think it's largely because it is such an immediate change from the outside of the woods to the inside. The pine also gives a good cover up top.
It was a cool cloudy day today, and walking into the forest it felt dark and brooding.
The ground was damp underfoot with pine needles everywhere.
I managed to avoid the solitary mountain biker (well, I think he avoided me) who had just made his way up to the top with much exertion, just to roll down the hill again...
The cache was exactly where I thought it would be - just where it wasn't last time.
Signed the log book. It wasn't blank though - it had already been found earlier in the day.
I started signing it 2/1/16, but remembered just in time we are in the new year. The previous loggers didn't remember that. That must happen a lot...
Thanks for the cache.

Well, after seven years that cache was indeed missing. . Now replaced and hopefully it lasts another seven years.
The GPS was taking me within a 20-30m radius, as promised in the cache description... but I could see no obvious spot, except for a huge tree stump, and it wasn't there. As previous logger had not found it either (but presumably found same stump), perhaps it is gone.
Anyway, nice walk through the pine woods. Very, very quiet, really felt alone in there, more than most quiet places.

Found what we believe to be the hiding place which is very obvious, however no cache!
LOVED THIS! Beautiful location, awesome hiding spot! Once you get close its pretty obvious where it's hidden
What a lovely spot. Dog and I had gone for a walk across the road, and I decided to have a look for this one too. I got a nice surprise when we went through the treed entrance and found ourselves in a secluded pine wonderland. The compass on my phone was dancing all over the place, but I saw a likely spot and soon found an ammo tin. Very nice. Both pens in the cache don't work, so I etched my name and rubbed it with bark. So if you see a great big smudge, that was me. Of course, I could make it easier by carrying a pen, but today wasn't the day for being organised. Thanks for bringing me here, Alansee, this was a lovely adventure.
Found it! Even though it was pretty late it was a bright night thanks to the glow from the burning trees across the fence and the almost full moon. Not that it helped us much because it was as dark as the proverbial black dogs guts in under these pines. We tripped and stumbled and poked ourselves with sticks as we made our way to the GZ, before we saw an object that would have made a good place to hide a cache, which is exactly what someone had done!
Signing done we made our way back to the fence to once again admire our handiwork, before long one of our colleagues on night shift drove up and reminded us that setting fire to the bush and then sitting back to smell the smoke and stare at the glow after you knock off is not supposed to be a perfect date night....she was wrong, it is for us!...TFTC...

What an amazing spot. Was easy to find in the end, though my GPS noped out. Byo pen.
The wind was sighing through the pine trees today as I walked to gz for this one. Although completely out of sight, the hide was quite obvious for a geocacher. Although I didn't need it at this point, the gps was spot on today, and it was a quick and easy find. After signing the log, I dropped off a TB before re hiding the cache and heading back to the Cruiser. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
This was the most frustrating of the caches I had searched for today and it was entirely my own fault. As I had had to abandon where I had originally intended on caching due to a lack of a suitable entry point, I moved to a different area that I had been to before but hadn't found all the potential caches in the area. My GPS therefore didn't have any caches loaded and I had to scribble coordinates on a piece of paper before my phone was critically low on battery. As I walked to what I thought was GZ I tried every conceivable hiding place, obvious and not obvious. After 30 minutes I was tired, frustrated, about to give up, but decided to risk a flat phone battery by checking the logs and coordinates. Turns out in my haste I got two numbers round the wrong way and hence why I was having no luck. Armed with the new coordinates I quickly located GZ and had the nice sized container in hand. Once safely stashed I berated myself on the way to the next cache and passed a couple of walkers who were rather alarmed that I was talking to myself! TFTC!
So after getting a workout in the Arboretum I decided to drive closer to the cache. The walk in was nice through the forest. I really like these kinds of pine plantations - the smells, the soft ground, the darkness with light filtering though. I giggled at the mountain bike jump, with "DROP" painted in big pink letters next to it. I wonder how many smartasses have stacked it here? hehe. Thanks Alansee.
Out for a picnic dinner and a stroll. What an awesome walk through the pines! And an wonderful feature at GZ. Tftc!!
Edit: Can't believe that this 2009 cache only had one favourite point until us just adding it's second!

GPSr got me close enough to find the GZ (15m variance) and the cache was quickly in hand.

Our first "ammo box" cache. Geo son loved finding & opening this one, it brought back memories for me as the last one of these I opened had the original contents 200 x 7.62 link in it thanks for the cache, signed log, took badge, left skateboard. A well deserved favourite point.

Oops, nearly forgot to log this one - thanks for the reminder Rusty's! I think I was too caught up in writing up the page for the multi that we placed today (fingers crossed it gets published). It felt very ominous walking from the clear meadow into the deep, dark trees. Thankfully once under the canopy that creepy feeling left us. This was a lovely, short walk. Thanks for bringing us here Alansee - I never would have ventured in without a reason to do so!
Zeus, Hera & Kids and I were out this morning placing a couple of caches of our own and had to find a cache for the day before heading back to 'burbs in time for kinder pick up.
This was a close one and, as we were racing against the clock, a quick-looking one too. Heading into the trees it looked a bit scary but once under the tree cover it was actually incredibly pretty.
I'd be interested to see the mountain bikers do their thing here as some of the ramps and jumps look rather treacherous!!
We spotted GZ but missed seeing the hide the first time we looked. After a few minutes scouring the area we went back to GZ only to discover what we missed the first time.
TNLN, SL. Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful area, Alansee

We decided to go up the hill from Monbulk today to enjoy the views from the hills. We pulled up on the side of the road and made our way to this one after having a great picnic lunch at the Forest Arboertum. My muggle mum who is enjoying finding a few caches with us, came for the walk with my geo daughter. We had no muggles on 2 wheels to worry about and we soon saw where we thought it would be hidden. The geo daughter saw the hide and was very happy to have found it. Always great to find an ammo tin. Stamped and returned as found
[blue]Thanks for this cache hide, Alansee [^] Log and container were in good condition. TNLN [/blue]

Fantastic location. I've walked around this arboretum many times but never ventured in to this corner. Very cool, thanks.
Found this one earlier in the year but just logging it now. Awesome cache in amongst the pines and out of the heat. Great cache in a fairly obvious spot, nice one to start the caching year with.
Despite living on the mountain all my life, I have never been to this part! How gorgeous! Thank you for bringing us here. Pine forests smell so lovely. Now you mention it, I do remember laughing with my friends at the name of Nib Nab Nob in the Melway in year 7! I think we could rename the whole mountain that...Nib Nab Nob Range...what a ring!
Annnyway, GPSr certainly did play merry - had us in an area with multiple animal burrows and I was concerned it was in one of those as I have seen people put them in burrows before. But I looked around for a more likely place and about 20 metres away spotted a likely spot. Before going poking in the holes, I went and checked said likely spot. Other cachers - if your GPSr decides to lead you astray like min, don't poke the holes, you don't need to.
A really nice cache in an interesting location, and all in good condition. Geo-mother DD19 and I signed log TNLF thanks for the cache!

Great to see a decent sized cache in a lovely part of the arboretum today, found with Snap Happy while doing a few caches in Olinda. Tftc Alansee.
Out and about with Echidna44 for the afternoon. Checking out some caches in this area. Needed to go of the main road and parked on the secondary road. Managed to sort out which path to take and those bike speed humps and jumps were most suprising to find. Thoroughly enjoyed our walk through the forest and half expected to see a big bad wolf jump out.
Nice easy find
Thanks for bringing us here Alansee

Out with xambo4u, we wandered in past the mountain bike jump to GZ. What a great spot. We collected some baby pinecones on the way back. Thanks for showing us this place, Alansee
Nice spot for a cache. So peaceful inside the pine forest.
Looked around for a bit then spotted the obvious/usual location. Cache in good condition. Thanks Alansee

Found it with the geo-grandkids and it is a peaceful place especially with winter wind and hail flying around today.
Everybody had to sign the log so sorry it took a whole page (some were junior primary school writers) and we stopped one trying to swap out the pen!
Its all cosy and dry.
Thanks Alansee for a big easy one - much easier to keep kids interest whilst they are still learning.

With fading light on a grey, wet and windy Easter Monday late afternoon this patch of pine forest seemed like the perfect location for "just one more cache", after our stroll around the abandoned Olinda golf course (having completed the series there).
Having left the geo-carriage at the nearest car park to the south, Spannaworks, the geokids and I made our way along the overgrown track that followed the fence line, reveling in the slightly odd "Grimm's Fairy Tales" ambiance of the area as we headed into the trees.
The cache description and previous logs noting dodgy GPS reception were bang on the money, as it turned out, but it all added to the slightly otherworldy vibe (which we played up a bit for the kids, heheh) as well. When at the roughly nearest track point from the cache, Spannaworks' phone jumped the "distance to cache" from 25m to 37m before refusing to update, then my own phone (which was reading 12m to cache at the time) suddenly quit the app, after which I lost reception completely and couldn't get a signal at all.
Taking the last compass reading as a guide, I decided to just head straight in and see what luck might bring, and as per the description it was indeed an easy find in the most obvious hide location.
It was great to find a really decent-sized cache container, though the geokids decided that none of the items inside really took their fancy, so we just signed the log and added a "Half Dome - Yosemite National Park" woven badge as an extra bit of swag for some future finder.
Thanks for the great cache, Alansee. I've walked the more western / northern side of the arboretum literally dozens of times in the (pre-geocaching) past, but for some reason had never explored over this side before.

Find #1158 logged at GZ at 17:29, will update shortly.... T4TC Alansee!
I had a couple of hours to play with before heading over to Monbulk for dinner. The clutch of caches in the Hamer Arboretum presented as a suitable objective. But it was a bit sticky out, and the up and down quickly brought out the sweat. If I'd been a dog, I'd have been panting with my tongue out! Thanks for the exercise, Alan!

Perfect sunny afternoon for a walk. Hadn't been to this area of the arboretum yet. No trouble locating GZ as promised. TFTC!
was in the area so gave this one a go. Parked at the southern car park as recommended and took the walk in. The pine forest was looking like it had picked up some understorey growth as it didn't look easy to walk through so I followed the path rather than follow the GPSr. Headed in and it wasn't too bad and i was able to spot a likely GZ which didn't have a cache, then spied another (better) spot which did have a cache! Thanks to alansee for bringing me here!
30/06/2013 02:38 Dropped Sue at the nearby Living and Learning Centre for yet another days sewing lessons I had a nice breaky at a local cafe. After that I tried my hand at the closest caches in Monbulk. Walking to the car park at the top I was annoyed by a neighbours dog that escaped the property and came at me barking and threatening. I stood my ground till the owner finally came out and ordered the dog back in. Seems the dog was happy enough to ignore commands till the owner was within view. Perhaps poor training? The forest is a great spot. As I looked about with lousy GPS accuracy I guessed GZ and was right! Being a large sistema in an Ammo can meant it looked pristine when opened. The moto-cross crew have been busy building dirt walls and various jumps but thankfully I was not assailed by them today. TFTC Alansee TNLN SL
The most challenging find for the day as we approached it from the Silvan Road side and had to find a foot pad through some thick ferny forest. Some of us hesitated a second looking for a path in, but DiaNag, a former junior orienteering champion many moons ago, soldiered on and soon found the footpad. Amazingly, we all made it through to a clearer spot with only 1 leech on us and that was hanging about on someone's pant leg.
The cache itself is in a pretty nice location and once it was in hand, we realised there was a far easier way in...
The young'uns took some toy cars and we left some swag in return. Cache is in very good condition, well secured and no water damage.

A quick find for this one.
It was an early morning start for me, TigerAd, Daree, Poptop Pete, Finnguyz, forest gump and geodog. We set out to find 9 caches, one was the local multi and mystery cache. A rough start as we failed the first three but picked up momentum on the final 6. Sunrise was a glowing red colour this morning, beautiful!
Definitely some favourites to hand out on behalf of the Geodog, that was a great idea.
TFTC, looking forward to getting back for the missing 3.

Please read Gunk's log. TFTC. I couldn't contribute to this one as my smartphone was running low on battery and saying it was over 5km's away! Gunks found it quick smart in a good hiding spot.
Glorious day for caching took two tag alongs today lovely spot very peaceful but then no bikes were playing today
Another day in the hills and a good day of hiking it was too. Collected a few caches along the way which was the point, TFTC SL, Log dry all good
I'm shore we took the hardest way up through the pine forrest looks like someone has fun with there bikes lots of jumps around thanks allansee
Found it! Today was the day I decided to find my 300th cache. My last day of holidays and this was my fourteenth and 300th cache of the day. After purchasing the necessary wedding items at the large shopping complex near-by and with Muggle Wen in tow, it was caching time!
#300 YEAH!!! After finding an Alansee puzzle cache for find 299, this cache was 300!. A quick find after parking and walking along the track. I am glad I wasn't standing under the nearby tree when it split in half. TFTC SL I have enjoyed finding your caches Alansee and I hope to find many more. Caching is such fun!! Cheers
P.S.now I just have to edit all these logs as I have drunk far to much red wine in celebration!
