I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Hi bumandworker
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

During our holidays in New Zealand, Miss Salamander and I tried to find this cache. We had to take care not to be blown away by the wind! To tell the truth, I did not feel very well being up here, so close to the steep cliffs, but Miss Salamander was much braver.
Unfortunately we could only find an empty box. We do not whether this is/was the cache, but if so, then the log book must have been blown away. See the photos attached.
However, according to the last logs, the location does not seem to be available any longer, so probably the cache won't be possible here anyway.
Thanks for hiding it and best regards from Germany

Closed to the public whilst they create a new fence. You can go to the view point but not to the cache.
I have been meaning to come here absolutely forever, for the cache of course but also my great aunt Amelia married a Fletcher and lived at Cape Farewell. I wanted to see if I could find where the house used to be. I read in the paper about plans to build a predator proof fence and I thought I'd best make the trip right away just in case the historic site was going to become inaccessible. Well, I discovered the fenceline had been dug. It's about 200 metres long and will enclose a headland with an area of about 2 hectares. It's the kind of place no-one would build a house so I've developed some ideas of where it might have been. While I was here I maintained the cache so it's as good as new - - - not sure how long it will be accessible though.
A chance meeting with a local led to us to finding the beach to the east is Fletcher's Beach and an impulse search on the net revealed that it's a popular surfing beach. I'm so pleased we came and checked out the locale. Thanks for the cache!

Caching with Sidewaze: Great day for a trip over the hill and a bit of cache hunting. Lucky with the weather too. TFTC
The views are amazing! Little ones stayed down on the lookout with mum while dad made the climb. 2nd time this hols where dad has had to make the climb himsef due to terrain rating. Log book very full and no place to sign (even at a squeeze) - taken photo to send to CO. Thanks for bringing us here. Probably wouldn't have made the extra climb if it was not for geocaching but well worth it. TFTC
This cache brought us to far better views than where the viewing platform was. Thanks for the view and the cache!
We found this geocache during our holiday in New Zealand. Cape Farewell and Spit today. We hiked along the coast and visited Cape Farewell, the lighthouse (no big deal) and Old Man Rock. We made the 10km walk on Spit as well. We could find some geocaches along our path. This was one of them. Thanks for this one!
#3861 I went from Wharariki beach, it was so nice and so windy way. The cache is wet, but good fixed. Thanks for the cache, greetings from Czech Republic.
Woohoo! Strong wind, sunny day, amazing coastal scenery. Log is damp and previous writings are fading. Could still write our log. TFTC
Was quite hard to find with these weatherconditions and not so accurate coords.

While mørketid (the polar night) is upon us back home, I decided to be brave and fly south to find summer.
I arrived a bit too late yesterday to visit the area, so after a good night sleep, I am ready for a little bit of adventure. The tide is low so I start with the Wharariki beach. My next stop is at the Farewell Cape to see the cliff, and oh my... it's really the best ratio effort/view I probably ever had! Absolutely breath taking!! . A quick look at the caches nearby confirms my suspicions, there had to be caches here . And it's not one but two!
After a first good find, this one turns out a DNF BUT as promised by the cache owner, the view is absolutely fantastic!! so I totally don't regret the effort, and even without a box, YOU HAVE TO GET THERE!
Too bad I can't put a fav on a DNF, it's totally worth it for the view [:o)]

After a gusty walk on a sunny afternoon to Cape Farewell we came to look for this cache. Took a bit of hunting in the undergrowth. Cache ok, photo of Mr TM at GZ with dipped Moose TB. Favourite given. TFTC. TM from N Wales.
THIS place is SO WORTH to visit... views are stunning, nature, sheep,.... everything. I didn't plan to spend time here but ended up spending most of the day here (yes, still drove ALL the way to Greymouth the same day)
SO WORTH IT!!!!

Today we did a loop at this place. We walked about 10 kilometers. The weather was not too bad so we had awesome views from the coast line.
We looked in the wrong spot but then we found the right place and found the container quickly.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

I was in Golden Bay for a couple of days and today went on a tour to Farewell Spit. The bus stopped for a short time at Cape Farewell, giving me just enough time to dash up the hill to find this cache, which was found after a brief search. In my haste, I'd left my pen in my bag on the bus, but the log was full any way. A fantastic spot here, with a couple of seals on the rocks below and even some Hector's Dolphins passing by. TFTC - favourite point added!
Found today while exploring the area. Great spot and great view. Logbook now completely full, unfortunately I didn’t have a proper replacement with me. TFTC
We walked here for the view, and than I see that I have Internet access here and a searched for Caches here nearby and yeah, one is here ,so we walked there with our Flipflops ( don`t do it) and when we are successful in finding we checked ... No pen with us hope photolog is OK. Logbook is full thanks for showing us this spezial view
Wahooo ! I love this place ! So mystical view, beautiful sea and with the green of the grass it's fantastic. Cache is all right ! TFTC
Another failure for me. This time evidence of where it was. Or I just didn't search well enough.
I was out here on a bus trip three days ago but didn't have enough time to locate any caches. Today I came to do this and another this morning. I don't like heights.
Cheers, I think, for the cache.

What a great view and we once again had the sun following us to this nice place. TFTC
We are keen geocachers on holiday from Tauranga and grabbing a few smileys as we go. It was blowing a houlie up there today, had to hold onto each other in the BIG gusts!! So we were rather careful about the retrieval, but all went well. Cache is all good. What a fabulous area, earns a fav from us. TFTC
While staying at the campground in colligwood we did a daytrip to the capr farewell. We parked our car at the cafe and walked the short distance to the sanddunes. We didn't want to go straight back so we desided to make a loop to cape farewell and back over the road. It was very windy on the edge but the view and the waves were great.
Very windy spot but a great view. We had to search for a while before we found it. A few meters down the edge we saw some sheeps, they looked a little lost. Thanks a lot for the cache!
Greetings from Switzerland, Team Fludia

It was really windy and it was a little bit like a obstacle course not to step into the poo from the sheeps and maybe another animals. But we found the cache easily and the view was really nice.
The muggles stayed at the lookout, but caches go out there and then enjoy an even nicer view than the one from the platform. We had to watch out for sheep (and other?) poo up here, but the nice view was worth it. Thanks for guiding us here!

3 January 2017 20:59 The sheep led me up the wrong path with one and got to 12m from the cache and could go no further so had to back out and try again. Cache is sheltered and secure in this exposed northern tip of the Sth Island. TFTC bumandworker
On Wed 7th the brand new Oregon 700 hiccuped and lost all cache details from the Takaka PQ. Still showed icons with cache names- but no details. So a trip to the Takaka internet cafe to note down the directions and hints for a handful of essential Takaka caches... the northernmost cache in the South Island has got to be one of those! Those cliffs are scenic but scarily intimidating- would not like to be here in a wind. Got to the end and ... well, if sheep shelter down there it must be okay for a geocacher? Crouch down and there it was. Thanks for the excursion off the beaten track bumandworker.
Amazing place. We really enjoyed it even if the weather wasn't best. But the cliffs were amazing. TFTC
At World’s End – New Zealand – One of our dream become true.
Our plan was to stay 4 weeks in New Zealand. But this wasn’t this easy to manage at work. So we moved spontanic the plan from march to november. We informed us before about point of interessts. The list was this long so we decided to go by campervan from the north to the south to have the most mobility. We arrived after way to much hours in Auckland and started there our round trip. At first we enjoyed the area in auckland and the north. In Waitomo we were able to see and enjoy glohworms in one of the famous caves. But this area had a lot of nice hiking trails were we could discovered the Piripiri Caves, Natural Bridge and the Marokopa Falls. This was already impressive to see and still the beginning of our adventure for life. The trip went on over Okere Falls Scenic Reserve direction Rotorua. In this area we enjoyed each hour, because each corner was different. We visited the Haumurana Springs – what amazing water -, Blue Lake and Green Lake and relaxed in Kerosene Creek. We liked all the water and in our travel guide we found a hike cloth to the Huka Falls, which ofcourse we did as well. All this flowers were bloom. One oft the Highlights was Wai-O-Tapu. The weather was perfect and all this colors awesome and the geysir a nice shower. By Campercan the to tour went on direction Tongariro Alpine with a short stop at Orakei Korako and the Tongariro River Loop Track. Lu like nice hiking tours and what could be the best for her birthday? Of course the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We started early in the morning and walked approximately 9 hours over gras, stones, snow and colorful water. Now we had to leave the Heart of North New Zealand and went over Taranaki Falls to the East Coast with the goal Napier. The weather was cloudy and often raining but a small sightseeing was a must have. The last stop on the North Irland was Wellington. But it was only raining and some streets were already flooded. That’s why we change spontanic our plan and only did the First Cache of New Zealand and went by ship over the Marlboro Sound to Picton. We went over Farewell Spit to the lonely Wharariki Beach with sea lions. On the way back to the big streets we stopped at Waikoropupu Spring and Janie Sesson Shipwreck and drove untypical to Karamea. In Germany we do not have this much and public caves and that’s way we enjoyed this area! Cloth to the West Coast we took a look at the Pancake Rocks. The weather was just raining and so we could not see the Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, but we still visited them. We leaved the bad weather in the hills and enjoyed the Sun at Ship Creek, Thunder Creek, Fantail Falls and the Blue Pools. Wow they were relly blue and this clean and deep. I never saw something similar before. About Wanaka we read a lot in our travel guide and looked forward to it. There arrived we visited the Puzzling World and walked around the sea. Queenstown the next town we drove just through because at this time there was a marathon and it was really campervan unfriendly. So we used the time and drove to Milford Sound and enjoyed the hills surround us on the water. I never felt this small. After we are landed again on land the trip goes on to the Chasm and Clifden Caves and the Clifden Suspension Bridge. Wow what an adventure. At the end we visited a few cities like Bluff, Duneding, Moeraki Boulders and Christchurch were our Trip sadly ends.
At all this places we looked for nice and unique caches which shows us places which we never would had seen without. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife each day and it was really an adventure for life. At the end we drove approximately 5000 kilometeres and felt this relaxed.
Thanks to all owners for placing this caches and this much informations which we got about the particular areas. This was an adventure for life for us. Thanks for this beauty time.

#10271. The terrain was rather more challenging than the route to "In Spitting Distance", but the reward was excellent views. Cache was a quick find. TFTC.
If I thought the walk to the other cache in the area was scarey, it was nothing on this walk. Thank goodness there was very little wind. Don't know how others have found this cache in the rain and the wind, would have been really slippery.
As we were walking back to the car, a tourist bus arrived and was driven through the gate. We couldn't believe that it didn't just park with the rest of the vehicles as it was such a short distance to walk. TFTC.

Find #2428 while on a 5 day tour of the Tasman area. Spent the morning on the Farewell Spit Lighthouse Tour - great trip, wind strong from the south west so plenty of sand moving across the beach. Back to the car to head down this road for views and caches. Blowing a gale on the ridge line to the cache requiring some careful walking. Great views out here for photos if you can hold the camera steady enough in the wind. SL TFTC.

NZDi and I have been planning a long weekend in Golden Bay for a month or so and today these plans came into fruition. Of course a long weekend out of town would not be complete without the odd cache thrown in and so a few caches were planned along the way. The weather back in Blenheim had been crap all week and the forecast for the weekend was not that flash either, however as soon as we got across the Whangamoa's we could see this part of the country was bathed in sunshine.
This is day two of our Golden Bay geocaching weekend, and todays efforts are concentrated on the caches around Wharariki, Cape Farewell and Farewell Spit. After getting Wharariki Walk we looked for other nearby caches that I had seen when planning this trip. It looks like I didn't set my radius far enough when creating my pocket query and the search missed four caches at Wharariki, Cape Farewell and Pillar Point (although I didn't know this until I got back into cell phone reception). We decided to head back to Puponga where we last had reception so we could save the missing caches on my mobile app.
While we were getting In Spitting Distance, the other visitors to the Cape departed and we had the place to ourselves to grab this cache. As usual NZDi was having kittens as I approached GZ and I was given strict instructions to approach on all fours.
The cache was quickly found where I expected it to be, but being a fixed container made it tricky to remove the log. Eventually this was done and the log was signed. A few photos were taken from a perspective not offered from the viewing platform, then we made our way back to the car.

In Takaka for the weekend picking up a cache or two. Thanks to all those that have placed caches out there it made our holiday just that much more interesting. To windy to stand around here to long love the views
Found it! WOW! What else is there to say. There was wind, clouds and sheep standing precariously on cliff edges eating grass and a there was cache to find! The views were amazing! The sun shone on the ocean in the distance as I signed the log book. Muggles Wen and Heather were waiting at the style for my return. That cave beneath the cliff they were standing on is enormous! No wind here today. Now we have been to the very North of the South Island, having been to the very South of it 2 years ago. TFTC!!!

5.00pm. Well worth the little bit of huff and puff to get to this one. Had to hold my hat at the end. Looked for a while on hands and knees as suggested and then it stood out obvious. The tube came away from its attaching piece in my hands but I endeavoured to secure the tie to a branch after completing the log. This was another where the log was too damp to write on so added a waterproof logsheet. Left a signature pathtag.

Dad and I were giving Linda and Mike from the UK a tour of the bay today, started off with a short walk up to the Abel Tasman Memorial then around to Tata Beach and over to Wainui. Doubled back through town via the deli for a drink. The next stop was the cafe at the base of the spit, where we had lunch before heading to Cape Farewell, and then home. Mike marched ahead and found this one pretty quickly, and wanted to make sure credit for said find was correctly placed... - interesting section of "track" between the lookout platform and the cache, needless to say you wouldn't want to slip... This was a stunning place to visit, although in the strong wind today, we felt it was more like 4.5 terrain. Indeed we weren't certain if we would have the courage to go right to the cache, however our nerves held and we reached the coordinates safely, and soon spotted the cache, although it was bit difficult to retrieve, all the time fearful we might drop it! TFTC
The target of my day! Flew into Blenheim and drove up here to find the northernmost South Island cache. It didn't disappoint! I loved the environment here! Thanks!
Late logging (sorry). This was one of many found with Rincewind3 (husband) and NZGecko (daughter) during our summer holiday in this beautiful part of the country.
This was a favourite for the views, but not for the walk. I am NOT a mountain goat. With help and encouragement the other two made cachers got me there and now we can all say we've stood as far north as we can in the South Island.

That's four favourite points given out in a day! This was brilliant! A bit nervous near the edges but my 15 year old (NZGecko) was showing me up, I HAD to get there. Once at the GZ NZGecko started the hunt and came up with the goods.

We had to decide to either do the "must-see-view" or do the "northernmost".
And as we are into extremities, it was the northernmost at this late day, leaving the other one (hopefully) for our wishlist (again, again, again).
Really curious anyhow, how the other one could possibly top the evening views we had here.
Nice bunch of sheep around here. We had a little bit of an evening picnic here in their company.
When they forget about us they're no longer as peaceful as the usually seem to be - we monitored a nice little argument between some of them quite close to our picnic-place / GZ.
The container is slightly damaged and should be checked.

Together with Silli1310 I had the luck to spend a two month holiday in New Zealand. In the first month we drove on the South Island along the tourist highlights. Today our destination was Farewell Split in the north of the South Island. One is welcomed quasi daily with this chic landscape at the computer and thus we wanted to look at this also once in real. We camped near by and in the evening we went on a little exploration tour along the coast to this brilliant view. Many thanks for showing and the cache.
The second side trip for today...we could find the box as well. Thanks...very nice area.
Ok! standing up here on top, I'm the king of the castle.
Wow! The wind was blowing at agale force rate 10/10. I had to lean into the wind to get up the hill. Even had to do my coat up so I wouldn't become a kite.
I had to crawl at the end,at GZ, because I was worried about the gusts of wind.
Logged with a new dry note book page. Hope it stay dry.
Thanks for this "gusty"adventure bumand worker
