#251 we found the cache but not the photo spot. But we did not need another picture, we had just returned from Mt Isobel TFTC.
The old log book is outside the box and all wet. There is a new piece of paper in a zip bag inside the cache.

Bit of a challenge to find the right place, route to lookout is overgrown. Cache had moved about a foot, presumably by animals, put it back at base.
Nice easy find and my first for the new year. What a great day and view today. TFTH
Added a piece of waterproof paper as a temporary replacement logsheet. Put the wet-and-slimy logbook underneath the cache- it's too far gone to rescue.
Took us 1 hour 35 mins to bike the 516 m ascent to this cache. And no view at all in the clag! A scenic spot with happy beech trees. The bad news- the logbook is soaked. Beyond drying out - will need replacing. Sorry, we had no spare with us. Took it out of the bags and left it on top of its half of the container.
A bit of a break at the top of the hill, no views today as it's all clagged in. The cache was spread out but I had no replacements bags, the cache was filled with hopefully water. Reassembled and replaced.
An awesome Molesworth Mission trip with Karma Reprint and The Wanglers (signed as K2T), tonight up to Acheron Accommodation campsite. Thanks Annie & PB for the cache, 4 of 132 for the trip. Cheers

A walk in the leftover snow to this. The geomutt’s first encounter with snow. TFTC!!!
Easter road trip through the moles worth stopped for a quick walk to the cache nice quick find tftc
Staying in Hanmer and it was a cruddy morning and we needed to kill a couple of hours before the pools opened. I bundled up cacelet #3 and we headed up the hills. We headed up the Clarence Valley Road, did a bit of the Molesworth, double backed and headed over Jollies Pass. Good wee loop and scored a few caches.
Drove up the access road to within 70m of cache. The last bit of the track looked too hairy for my town 4WD.
Thanks for the cache Annie & PB.

We picked this cache up at 11:26am. The veiw was impressive from nearby, despite the pretty awful weather today, thanks for bringing us here.
I had brought the non caching other half to NZ (from Melbourne) as a surprise for his birthday. It was a non-caching holiday so this was one of the few we found. We were staying in nearby Hamner Springs and were out for a drive in the hills.
Thanks for the cache Annie & PB.

After a drive to lake Tennyson in my trusty mini this was the last stop before heading down into civilization and things like houses and shops. A slight scramble at GZ but everything is dry as a bone. Cheers
We could have driven almost to GZ,but because of the narly bit of an incline over the hill at the top,we decided not to attempt doing that.Found it quickly after a short walk..TFTH
18 June 2017 11:56. Didn't worry so much about the BIG views but got lost in the micro ones of moss forests, micro toadstools, lichen, frozen mud pillars and contoured ice lakes within a puddle! Took a few trees to find the one. Cache full of water. Emptied out but log was still nice and dry. TFTC Annie & PB
We meandered around in the area for a while before eventually locating the required hint object, then off down to the photo spot for the magnificent view. TFTC
Heading up to Hanmer Springs with Injeanious and the Burnsy we grabbed a couple of caches along the way. Luckily we had a 4wd to get us close to the cache here.
Team JeJeBu (Injeanious, Jess.daphne and The Burnsy) got together for our first caching mission since I arrived back from my holiday in Latin America. We decided to head to Hanmer for the evening and grab some caches on the way.
We had a great time bringing the 4WD up here. I was a bit cautious stamping around in my jandals (quite a few small gorse plants around). We searched around and eventually found the cache. Tftc.

On our way from Christchurch to Nelson, we decided to go via Hamner Springs and Jacks Pass along the Acheron River. It was amazing to see new astonishing landscape after every bend.
We could find a lot of caches along the way with beautiful scenery, thanks!
So far seen on this trip: Thailand and New Zealand.
TFTC from a geocacher on his journey through the world.
Danke!

After a semester abroad in New Zealand, I travel around the country with MMXX now. There are plenty of amazing spots to discover.
Thanks for placing a geocache here and sorry that I keep my logs short.

Found with no problem, very nice surroundings. What a wonderful place! Done after Mt. Isobel track.
Thank you for the cache and greetings from two Czechs!

On a mission as support crew to support my whitewater-rafting workmates as they head to, onto and off the Waiau river with just an inflated pece of rubber and expert guides to assist them. My part of the journey is to travel down to Hanmer Springs by van, overnight, then off to the river the following afternoon to collect the team and bring them home. Sounds simple enough, you'd think.
Unfactored was that the clutch on my van would have a hissy fit and dump some of it's fluid and produce a burning overheating smell along with loss of power as soon as I got onto the Inland Kaikoura route. Nursed it all the way to Hanmer and it got as far as the Hundalees before being towed back yesterday evening. Quite the adventure. In between that though.....there was some caching. Of course.
Onto the next phase of the morning with us vacated the accommodation. Up Jacks and Jollies passes to get the caches. Had a willing driver and another passenger a long so three sets of eyes to search with.
Headed along the track for this one, enjoyed the view then made the find
Nice and easy here, T F T C, A & P B

I was interested to note that this is where the Chatteron track finishes/starts after visiting that cache earlier. Walked in from the road but turned off too early along another track. Soon realised our mistake but did enjoy the views from there. Spent quite a bit of time searching but actually the GPS agreed we were in the right place by the time the log was signed. We passed the grader coming dowon our way up so the road was in great condition. TFTC #8261
One of the last of the day for Harry the Honda. Bit of a scratch around in the undergrowth but cache soon in hand. Tftc
[Purple] The cell coverage was patchy, so I had to guess where to look. I wasn't having much luck so I waited and waited for the info to load. When it came up, I could get closer and soon had cache in hand. Log had water in it, but was dry due to double bagging. A nice view from here. Just in Hanmer for the day, got 4 caches while here. Tftc
A bit of a bush bash to get to GZ but a quick find once there. Found with debsnz
After walking up Mt Isobel, we realised that we were parked only a few hundred metres from this cache so of course we had to grab it too. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
NZDi and I decided to do a trip through the Molesworth today, overnight in Hanmer Springs and return to Blenheim via the Inland Kaikoura Route tomorrow. Of course any unfound caches we came across would gladly be turned into smiley faces. We departed Blenheim at zero dark early (6.15am) and arrived in Hanmer Springs just over 11 hours later and as a result of this trip and one we did back in October, we have cleared all except two caches between Seddon and Hanmer Springs. We didn't have time for dessert today so a couple of ca ches at Pudding Hill will require another trip. if I get a major Lotto win tonight, I can see a helicopter charter in my future.
Log update: 29 Dec 2015 When logging a later cache I realized I confused this cache with that one and therefore the comments about the cache contents being scattered around GZ were incorrect so this is a log update.
We parked at the suggested parking spot then made our way to GZ on foot. On arriving at GZ we quickly found the cache and noticed it had a travel bug in it which we took with us. The poor thing must have been lonely as it was dropped off in April and I was amazed none of the subsequent finders had taken it with them.

Got within 85m of GZ but not quite dressed appropriately for this amount of snow - I was only planning on doing some caches in the village and left gumboots and walking shoes back at our accommodation. Will be back either in better weather or better prepared.
Found with quinella and geodog . Pretty cold wind up here today but lovely view. Thought about walking down but, nah, the car would have to get down somehow!! Another day - tftc
A windy but spectacular place today . Great views and well worth the short walk. Thanks
[green] I teamed up with Taybee and TaybeeNZ for a trip through the Molesworth. We were in a shopping cart, and the trip took longer than I expected, Blenheim to Hamner Springs to Blenheim in 14 hours, caching just the Molesworth road, 34 caches in all for me. A 4 wheel drive with its better grip and higher ground clearance would be faster, but a shopping cart gets through fine. Saw loads of yellowhammers, NZ Falcons, cows, and 500,000 volts. Score at the end of the day: The Seagnoid: 4, Taybee:1, TaybeeNZ: 29. Hard to beat him when he runs everywhere, and the caches are easy to find - he didn't even have a GPS!
This was going to be the last cache for the day, we planned to leave Hamner for another time. But then we saw the earthcache there...
Anyway, decided not to drive Taybee's little shopping cart down this track, which turned out to be a very good idea. A little bit of bush bashing and TaybeeNZ found the cache yet again!

during cycling trip Clarence Valley-Tophouse road-Jollies Pass. It was a really hot summer day caching breaks were more than welcomed during the trip. All boxes found, last box at Jollies Pass entrance (close to Hamner Springs) was vandalized. Found log book, container and lid separately. Put cache box back a little bit higher in tree. TFTC for all caches along the circle
Passed by while cycling around NZ. GPS was jumpy and the hint isn't very useful so I didn't look too hard.
A slow trip up in the 2wd, pity it's not a company car!!!
Great vistas, pleased we're not biking . TFTC

Spent ages trying to find. The clue was under the tree.there are trees every where.finally found. Tftc
10.50: On the way to Edwards Valley. Quite deep into bushes, but good coordinates made it a fast and reliable find. Beautiful views all around from this place! One of those areas we like the most on the South Island.
Weather: overcast, windy, 18°C;
Wheelchair: no, pathless terrain, dense vegetation;
State: all good.
IN & OUT: nothing.
Thank you!

Missed this on the way to Lake Tennyson so we made sure to stop on our way back to Hanmer - trees have grown at GZ so you dont get much of a view - walked down a little to the power pylon though and got the photo Thanks for the cache
Overshot the parking spot so decided on our return trip from the lake we could grab . What a valley to look down and would have truly been impressive had all the trees not grown so much . Enjoyed what we could see and made our cache grab and sign TFTC
Hmm...we have been here before...must have logged a DNF !
Drove right in.
Thanks

After Mt Isabel also quick detour to this cache. Quick find, great area. TFTC. Sherlo9ck Hood.
Nice view to the Hanmer. Found it after biking, heading to the hot pools. We dried the box, log book was OK. Thanks
A quick trip to Hanmer for a bit of cache maintenance on our way to Chch.
A very HOT short walk up to fix this one up. Hopefully it will stay dry for a bit now. At least until the next snow.

I really enjoyed this cache location. The views were amazing. Cache was easily found but the contents are very wet. The logbook is almost unusable. Needs maintenence.
nice drive up the hill the carpark was a big lake but no problem the weather was nice so walked up the hill to the cache some great views, but was unable to sign the Very Very Wet log and the cache box was half ful of water drained it out but it need some TLC walked back down to the car then found their was another cache up passed this one flagged it for another day as have a few more to find before dark..
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Spent the day in Hanmer Springs, doing a few short walks and picking up a few caches. I took the little rental car up to this one and it managed OK. After a pleasant walk to GZ the cache was quickly found, just as the thunder started to appear, so a quick dash to the car before the heavy rain set in for the afternoon. The cache and log book were a bit wet, but I was just able to sign the log. A great spot here – favourite point added. TFTC!

Very cloudy. Couldn't see very far at all. See attached photo. Didn't find as I couldn't access geocaching website. Will go back for another look tomorrow.
Drove up with my father with the aim to keep going north. Snow was heavy so ran in to find catch and back again.
Found on a steep, hot walk up to Mt. Isobel. Didn't quite make it to the top due to very strong winds - bah!
Sure are looking down. There was ice in the puddles. When I threw a stone the bubbles got caught under the ice. I guess they will stay there for winter now.
10.20am. The first of several as we journeyed over the Molesworth road. Still wisps of low clound hanging around the pass but forcast to break up and be a fine day ahead. Nice short walk and readioly found. Noticed large population of bees and wasps getting the honey dew off the beech tree trunks. Left a TB.

I did this one after attempting to do the Mt Isobel cache. A nice valley to look down. A great view.
Cheers for the cache.
Found it finally, I have crossed over Jacks Pass many a time whether it be by car, hiking, mtb training or mtb racing in the Rainbow Rage. Today we were heading off to the Clarence river for a fish, this was my opportunity to look for this GC, TFTC, yes the view is great. .
Cruising around Kaikoura, and then off to Hanmer. A bit of an up for the mighty Caldina. Lovely views of the valley, and a triple rainbow. Another great day, thanks for the hide.
Stopped here to find this cache on the way back from a wee trip to Lake Guyon. Thanks for the cache
Drove from Hanmer Springs to Lake Tennyson and drove past this cache on my way out. Decided to stop off here on a slight detour on my way back. Had a muddy walk up to track to GZ but a fairly quick find once I got there. TFTC, Biggles.
A magnificent day up on the pass - great views and an easy cache find. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf
4381. The third cache find on the second day of our six day geocaching tour around Hanmer and Kaikoura. An interesting ride up the road in our campervan, followed by a refreshing walk!! It still said 1.5 hours from the bottom to here? Not for us these days!!! Thanks, Rodney and Iris.
